Sam Reilly #4-6

The Sam Reilly Collection Volume 2

Rate this book
Three complete novels in the Sam Reilly Action and Adventure series!

Rogue Wave

The offer – $20 billion split between four leading scientists on alternative energies to purchase and then squash their research lines, which include the recent discovery of a powerful new energy source capable of replacing mankind’s reliance on fossil fuels.

There’s no doubt their discovery is worth ten times that much. But will any one of them live if they refuse?

At the same time, the greatest technological advancement in warfare since the creation of the Atomic bomb has been discovered, and is being offered to the highest bidder.

There is just one problem though; the seller might no longer have any control of the weapon.

Can Sam Reilly weave his way through the web of industrial and political espionage before the human race loses its greatest fight for survival?

The Cassidy Project

In the middle of the Pacific Ocean in 1962, at the height of the cold war, the U.S. military experimented with electromagnetic pulses created by detonating high atmosphere nuclear bombs. The project was code named Starfish Prime. The primary objective was to develop the ability to produce an EMP with enough force to knock out an entire nation’s communications, rendering a retaliatory attack impossible.

The secondary objective, along with its consequences, was deemed too important to national security to ever be released.

In 1983 an American B52 Nuclear Bomber goes missing somewhere near the Bering Strait while delivering a secret cargo at the express order of President Ronald Reagan to an unmapped island. Present day, in the Weddell Sea off the coast of Antarctica, a woman wakes up on a cruise ship to discover she’s the only person left aboard, despite no apparent fault with the ship.

Sam Reilly, already on a rescue mission to Antarctica to save five French scientists, may be the only person standing in the way of the completion of The Cassidy Project.

The Nostradamus Equation

In 1562, Michel de Nostradamus led a small party on an expedition deep into the hostile Desert of Barbary, now known as the Sahara. Without any knowledge of what they might find, the small party had entered the vast desert in search of a miracle.

In the present day, Dr. Zara Delacroix enlists the help of Sam Reilly to hunt for answers about a book she believes was buried in the Sahara centuries earlier to protect humanity from some great catastrophe.

This ancient manuscript was named The Book of Nostradamus. . .

EXCELLENT MYSTERY/ADVENTURE SERIES

This wondrrful collection is volumes 4-6 of the collected adventures of Sam Reilly (and friends), as they rush to find the information necessary to save the world. Cartwright excells at writing this type of story, and now has seven great volumes available on Kindle. Actually, after reading the seven books, I believe he is one of the top five authors of the mystery-adventure genre. Each individual book contains several adventures, as one mystery leads to the next.
Most authors of mystery/adventure novels push the outer limits of possibilities, and Cartwright is no exception. There are several different fraternities/orders/cabals spanning thousands of years. Some of these conspiracies seem to be trying to preserve knowledge, others are trying to prevent secret knowledge and history from being found. In Cartwright's world, all the good guys seem to be handsome, fit and genius-level scientists. All the good women (and a few female evil-doers) are fit, beautifully intelligent and very good looking. Few of the inner circle have just one area of expertise. For instance the ship's cook creates Cordon Bleu meals, pilots helicopters, and was, for a time, one of the best assassins in the world. She is also a genius and extremely good looking.

All in all, this is probably the best of the current mystery/Adventure SERIES.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AS BOTH AN INDIVIDUAL BOOK AND AS A SERIES!

Engaging

This book set is a fun read. The characters are interesting, and I grew to care about them. The stories are similar in how they build the world in which they happen. There is a continuity that will likely bind all future books together as well. Each of these books ended their specific stories, but left the continuing 'mystery' open for further development.

I would have given it five stars, but two things bothered me. Firstly, everyone in this world is beautiful. Just once, I'd enjoy a character who is average, or less than average and surprises everyone. Secondly, there is too much technical explanation for me. I didn't need it, so I skimmed it. The author does appear to research the topics well, but for me, it detracted from the pace. Therefore, I skipped when I could.

Rogue Wave, my first read from author Christopher Cartwright. Well-written with captivating, well-developed main characters reminding one of a poor man’s Vince Flynn. It’s hard coming into a series in the middle, book #4.
The Cassidy Project, my second read from author Christopher Cartwright. Well-written and captivating with well-developed main characters reminding one of a poor man’s James Rollins
The Nostradamus Equation, my third read from author Christopher Cartwright. Well-written and captivating with well-developed main characters reminding one of Dan Brown’s writing. It’s hard coming into a series in the middle, books #4, #5 & #6 I’ve obviously missed much. I’ll be reading more by this author, especially since I just went out & discovered that I own the first book in the series! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Audible:Another great 3 books in the Sam Reilly series!First is Rogue Wave,my favorite!Rogue waves are taking out ships. It is like they are being targeted. But how?Sam is called in to find out.
The Cassidy Project was also really good.A man trying to save the world by taking us back to time before electricity. He's been at it for years.
and last The Nostradomus Equation.A really intriguing story of a woman who thinks she is the one to either make or break the world as predicted.
So many things go into each of these stories,it is hard to mention them all.All are good reads though.
David Gilmore was a terrific narrator.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

I had to Google Christopher Cartwright to see if he was a pen name of Clive Cussler.
I listened to these three action stories in one sitting (with sleep breaks) and they flowed from start to end on greased rails.
The science isn't deep and the bad guys are not memorable, but you want to meet Sam and Tom and have a few beers and hear their stories.
David Gilmore gives life to the heroes with just enough shading to distinguish the duo. David performs the dialogue as a trained actor, bring life to the adventures.
This is an enjoyable series I can recommend to all adventure fans.
Good job guys.

Poor Sam Reilly does he ever get to rest? Each book ends with a little preview of the next book. These are great reads that are hard to put down. This set is pretty original plots that involve Rogue Waves, a device that can kill all electronics causing the world to go back to before phones and computers and a very interesting story about Nostradamus. My. Cartwright has developed a cast of characters that with each book we learn a little bit more about. Do you have to read them in order? I don’t think so but you may not fully appreciate the relationships among the characters. The first set is also highly original plots. Time to start set 3!

Very entertaining

Sam Reilly continues to fight for the right and the just. Even when he is fed glimpses by none other than Nostradamus along the way.
Will Sam save the world from its most infectious plague, humans, before we inevitably dig our own graves through yet another war to end all wars?

Fantastic! I love having three books in one set. Although I had to go back over the last 100 pages or so because I fell asleep reading and couldn't find my spot last night. This is a plain fun fictional series!
