Everett and Courtney Carroll have survived the Seven Seal Judgments which devastated the planet through a global earthquake and a massive bombardment of meteors. The cities of the earth lie in ruin, and much of the globe’s forests have been destroyed by widespread forest fires. But have their efforts to stay alive been in vain? The next series of judgements to fall upon the earth are known as the Seven Trumpets. Within this series of cataclysms is the earth’s collision with a giant asteroid, known as Wormwood. The comet will poison much of the planet’s fresh water supplies, making survival near impossible. Undeterred by the global chaos, the supreme leader of the Global Republic, Angelo Luz, pushes forward with his plans to eradicate his empire of dissenters. In the midst of the mayhem, he sends forth his armies to wipe out the remnant of true Christians as well as the growing number of Messianic Jews. With each subsequent Trumpet Judgement and every passing day, Everett and Courtney’s odds of living grow slimmer. If they are to survive, they’ll need perseverance, faith, and a great outpouring of providence from The Almighty.
As with all books by Mark Goodwin, this book contains no profanity and no embarrassing sex scenes. However, if you're offended by conservative principles and references to Scripture, this book might not be for you.
Mark Goodwin is a Christian author and host of the popular Prepper Recon Podcast which interviews patriots, preppers and economists to help people prepare for the uncertain times ahead. His previous fiction series, The Days of Noah spent several months at number one on the Amazon best-sellers list in multiple categories. His first series, The Economic Collapse Chronicles, also hit the Amazon best-sellers list in several categories.
"Wormwood" Book Two of "The Days of Elijah" series by Mark Goodwin is an excellent read. Hopefully the reader has a good memory of Book One "The Days of Elijah: Apocalypse " and "The Days of Noah" prequel trilogy as you'll benefit reading continuity lacking a synopsis chapter to get Book Two started.
The framework of Revelations is filled with the fictional story and a few preparedness hints here &a there. A few practicalities get skimmed over, but these are more on the needs of real life than religious.
Overall, a fast-paced book, dealing with the tribulation and the survivors Everett, Kevin, Sarah, Courtney and Elijah, located in the mountains near Woodstock, VA. The best part of the book wasn't the judgements, but the shootout with the Global Republic, with help from another group of survivalists. Some of the book is corny, especially how the Global Republic announces the the New World Leader. Also, not a big deal, but being in science, the one judgement involving the star Wormwood. In the Bible, its not mentioned specifically whether it will be an asteroid or comet, but the author goes back and forth calling it both, which there is a difference.
This is fiction, so the author does use some liberty with how the 7 year Tribulation will be. Makes it interesting for the reader. Not quite as good as the Left Behind series.
Always a fan of Mark Goodwin, and this was no exception. It is very reminiscent of the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye, but also a bit more like his other works. Book 2 has the group continuing their fight against the Global Republic forces as well as sheltering best they can from the fiery hailstorm of the comet fragments. The group continues their survival through the post rapture tribulations alongside their guide and friend, Elijah the prophet. For the subject matter, Goodwin always manages to keep things as fairly realistic as possible, taking into account the basic necessities of life, whereas others tend to gloss over the little things, like managing to acquire food. It should be interesting to see what happens next as the world is turned even further into a wasteland now.
I'm a huge fan of post apocalyptic novels and when faith is woven in, I like it even more. Several authors have written fictional accounts of the last days and how things might transpire during the tribulation period. Mr. Goodwin does this splendidly. The story is riveting with plenty of action, education about prepping and food storage, character interactions.. This series has it all and this particular book is no exception! Highly recommend this series!
Mark Goodwin continues to impress me with this series. Combined together with the prequels, this is a very enjoyable read.
Elijah’s friend there at the end very much surprised me. I thought it was going to be another prophet, but he indeed is a very recognizable character from the Bible.
This is a series EVERYONE should read! If you are a believer in the imminent return of Jesus to take His Children to heaven, this series will excite and invigorate you, as you wait eagerly for His call!!
If you are not a believer, you NEED to read this series. Mark Goodwin shares God's plan for forgiveness of sin several times throughout the book. You will meet people from all walks of life who thought they had plenty of time to "get things right with God" only to wake up one morning and find that friends, acquaintances, and even beloved family members, have disappeared from the earth without explanation. What has happened? Where are they? Read any of Mark's series and all your questions will be answered!!
After reading The Days Of Noah I just had had to keep following the series. I've always been a student of the book of revelation and end times prophecies and these books give what I believe are very plausible, down to earth end times outcomes for us to consider. The book of Revelation describes events that sound like a modern sci fi movie but I think Gods plan for fulfilling prophecy will read more like Marks story . The characters are well developed and enjoyable to follow. I'm anxious to continue with book two of Wormwood!
I chose this rating because I felt Mark Goodwin did an amazing job of integrating the prophesies from the old and new testaments , and created a story that sucks you in completely. I really enjoy what he did with Elijah's character, he is a real person, not stiff and stuffy. I am looking forward to the next book!
Wow! This book really makes you think. While I believe in a pre-tribulation rapture, I realize I could be wrong. I can’t imagine living through the seals let alone the trumpets, and possibly the vials. The destruction of earth and the desperation of mankind will be horrible. My prayer is that people will turn their hearts to God and accept His love.
A continuation of the series of very decent reads. While this is named the Days of Elijah series, it would be book five of the Days of Noah series.
This is a short read as it took me just a couple of nights laying in bed while listening to music or Coast to Coast AM. It is very well edited and continues with the PG rating. While it is somewhat based on Biblical events, it is set in America and paints an image in your mind's eye of the disasters that occur here. It is fiction and the author takes great liberties with that.
Mark has done an exceptional job in keeping this series exciting and full of action. The connection with Christian eschatology makes this book even more enjoyable to read.
Best book yet! At the end, I kept gritting my teeth and holding my breath! I had to keep reminding myself to relax! Now to wait for book three in this series; a difficult task, waiting to see what happens!
I have thoroughly enjoyed the series, and I'm already looking forward to the next book. I have become hooked since reading the days of Noah series. This author is new to me, so I look forward to reading more of his books.
I have read several end times books and this series was very different..........some very unusual characters. A good read. One should read "Days of Noah" first to get a better understanding of the series.
The struggle to survive is real. Mark Goodwin expertly takes you through the group's daily struggles, from raiders, to cold weather, to meteors bombarding their cave home. Then surprise, an old friend of one of the group appears.
Just as good as book 1. Only complaint was I'm sure was a typo. Not Genesis but Numbers for the story of Balaam. Other than that EXCITING. Makes you think of how u will get to your final destination. The rapture or tribulation. The choice is yours.
An interesting take on Christian fiction concerning end times prophecy. I find this series interesting if you should be interested in preparation for government upheaval and apocalyptic events.
This series goes along with the rapture and the AntiChrist coming. Elijah stays with the two couples who missed the Rapture but were saved and are living in the last 7years.
I really am enjoying Mark Goodwin's books! I love all the Bible references. I will recommend this to my sisters and my boss. Great! This open s our eyes to what is coming!
I enjoyed this very much and it again as the first book was well written except for a few part that drag on a bit. But for the most part I love it and will continue on to the next book.
I know this just a novel & certain liberties are taken but putting the mark of the beast near the front of the 7 year Tribulation period & having the 2 witnesses in America was a bit of a stretch. Overall I found this book entertaining.
If you have made that "mental" list of MUST THINGS to take EVERYWHERE, EVERY DAY: Make sure you pack GOD, the SAVIOR, AND HOLY SPIRIT FIRST, since everything else don't mean CRAP!
