The episodic nature of the chapters collected in this volume is a welcome experience after that overgrown arc from several volume ago. This is the best way to enjoy the stories of Iwanaga as she holds court as the goddess of wisdom for the supernatural creatures of Japan.

While I still think the Snake Guardian chapter went on a little too long with little payoff, the first and final chapters definitely made up for it. Especially the last one, the ending to that is still hilarious! I also like that the first chapter establishes that not every chapter is going to be some deep, dark mystery, there may be some slice-of-life mysteries throughout the series too. Anyway, not as solid as others, but still good.

Original review on 5/12/2020:
I was SO looking forward to this collection of miscellaneous stories, and I will admit the ending of the last one was fucking HILARIOUS, but these stories DRAG ON so much that I just can't be bothered to care. It's such a shame, because Kotoko is such a great character and I love seeing her in action, but HOLY SHIT, these chapters are just SO DAMN LONG! I feel like if these chapters were shorter and there were more stories, this wouldn't be a problem. But there were three stories in this volume and ALL OF THEM were LONG AS FUCK. *sigh* I'm starting to lose patience with this format, but maybe the next volume will be better?

it is after Steel Lady Nanase arc that doesn't have suspense and violence, but just mediating between yokai about the cause of the murder in heated discussion and two friends discussion his wife's murder over Unagai's lunch with punishment.

The exposition felt more natural than in the SLN arc. I'm guessing because these are new stories. I'm glad I got through that to get this

She gives people possible explanations for events that will make them feel better or help them to move on. It's not necessarily the truth though.
