A guide to male sexuality advises readers on enhancing desire, recognizing the conditions for good sex, handling initiation and seduction, focusing on pleasure and not performance, and more. 60,000 first printing.
I thought this book was a good resource, particularly one for men or women who haven't talked or read a lot about male sexuality and who might still hold to stereotypes (e.g. guys always want it, it doesn't matter the situation or how they feel). I think it's probably best read start to finish & then kept as an easy resource in case problems are ever encountered. There are lots of well-explained exercises/activities in the book to help one improve things like communication, assertiveness and lasting longer. Some exercises require a partner while others are best done alone. While I feel like the book could probably use some updating again, in general, everything is still relevant and it's a useful book.
030219 from ??? 90s: book i wish i had read... before my first girlfriends. i think it is then available. if you have always naively believed that Robbins/Collins/Krantz etc. picture of sex, this, for boys and men and maybe girls and women, is very useful, funny, real, empowering and enlightening...
si se lee en el contexto de cuándo fue escrito, es un gran libro. Tiene algunas ideas que incluso hoy resultan levemente provocadoras. Sin embargo, está muy desactualizado. Estaría padre que alguien retomara este trabajo y lo ampliara.
This book by Bernie Zilbergeld handles about the whole area of male human sexuality. There is nothing that I can think of that is missing from this book. It is readable and understandable by the normal person, i.e. you don't have to be a doctor to read the book and get a lot out of it.
There is a treasure trove of information as well as csome exercises that can be worked through to help with sexual issues.
This book is a must for any male who wants to know more about his sexual self and how that self relates to the female.
A must read.

I plead ignorance. I actually did not know a lot of the stuff I've read about in this book, and it was a good thing i finally learned them. Certainly, they would be beneficial for me and my relationships with guys. As to the book, comprehensive, informative, cannot say helpful because i did not treated it as a self-help book, which it is. But the information i found and the way is what explained made it an interesting, captivating read. Good thing to know you can have a sex life without erections and well into old age. That makes the thought of getting older easier to handle. At least for me.
Pretty okay. For the most part tells men what they need to know about having a good sex life. Kind of entertaining for the things that have to be spelled out. The only thing I didn't like is he considers porn harmless which I tend to disagree with. So if you're giving this to your man because you think he needs pointers you may want to read it yourself so you know what advice you're handing him. Anyway, kind of a "dummies guide to male sexuality". Read as necessary.
I really enjoyed reading this. I generally love men, and it gives me another perspective on what some of them go through, see, feel, understand. I was surprised on how hetero the perspective is, but since I am not a gay male, it did not overly affect me that this point of view was missing. I welcome more understanding and knowledge in my interactions with men. This is why I sought the book, and it delivered some of what I was looking for.
Read this book during a very difficult period. It's powerful messages often left me reeling and I found it difficult to stay engaged. I hope to come back to it in the future. Great stuff that is well presented. A challenging read that dives into the myths of masculinity and male sexuality.
I read this for a Human Sexuality class and although it is all about the male sexuality, it is definitely geared for a mixed sex audience. I learned a lot from it and enjoyed reading it.
I am very appreciative that I was able to read this book. Especially since the author has been in of the industry of psychology for a substantial amount of years. He is a very reliable person to have as a reference... to secure confidence in of a greater understanding of what the psychology industry really is about. And. What the advances of the psychology industry really attained in of academic discovery. In of scientific valid research of course.
As for the book's context. I am very glad to have read this book. And. The account from Bernie, for that the number of books that I have read in associated context to that of "Male Sexuality" is and was not as confidently resonated with. Confidently resonated with, entailing... that my level of satisfaction with the understanding of the Psychology's industry's progression, was not clear in of the rationale insight, from the books I have read.
Basically, the authors that I read books from, in of the context associated with "Male Sexuality" did not at all secure myself with confidence with the author's understanding. The understanding in of the extent of the Academic industry's progression of the insights of professional researcher's psychology interests. Such as this book's topic, "Male Sexuality".
After reading the entire book, I have realised just in the end that I might have to reread it when I’m older to apply more from what the author says. I liked how the author touched upon a multitude of subjects and clearly defined and explained them with examples. The exercises brought up in the book were also really important to understand the material and I have liked most of them. I think that this book should be read just for your own interest on the chapters, as I have seen it might be more of a comprehensive guide on the entire matter as a whole. That is definitely a good book for the times we live in so that as a man, or even I think upcoming man, you can know what’s going on and maybe what you can change in your own life for the better.
I'm sure if I read this when it originally came out (in the 90s) it would be rated higher, maybe a 5/5, but some things didn't age well, while others did.
The way Dr. Zilbergeld challenges societal assumptions about sexuality seems ground breaking to me. The questions and exercises posed seemed great too!
The major pitfalls are the focus on gender roles and cis-heteronormative assumptions, but again I'm not surprised as this is an older book. my favourite parts were Dr. Zilbergeld's experiences as a sex therapist and real world examples from his clients lives! This book makes me wanna read more non-fiction books in this subject area!

Bernie Zilbergeld reports findings from his twenty years as a psychologist specializing in human sexuality, as well as those other experts in the field, and shares his own and his clients' experiences. the result is the most comprehensive guide ever to enhancing desire and arousal, focusing on pleasure rather than performance, and keeping sex exciting and fulfilling.Clear, comprehensive, witty, and refreshingly realistic, The New Male Sexuality is destined to be a classic of the nineties and beyond. From the Paperback edition.
A book analyzing male sexual behavior and addressing the most frequent problems of the issue providing realistic ideas and exercises for their solution.
Excellent. Some stuff is out-dated, but the author sadly died in the early 2000s. Even so, it is a quintessential read for anyone with a penis or who interacts with humans with penises.
this book gave me a whole different perspective on relationships. i would recommend it for any male at any age that wants to be better at making their partner happy.
