The Cubi #3

Rising Beauty

Rate this book
Since the Mayflower brought the first five Cubi to America, the race has looked forward to this day. But an overlooked historical detail can bring everything they have worked toward to an end.

Daniel is settling in and trying to find a rhythm after the latest change in his life. With the help of Seldon, Caledon, and the Grand Lady Geodin, Daniel begins his education and development to rise as a full-fledged Incubus.

Seldon is not a man who rattles easily, but the latest changes to his life after the Cubi Court’s verdict has sent the old Incubus out in uncharted territory. Falling madly in love with a human raised boy does not help uncomplicate things—especially when that boy is not yet versed enough in the Cubi ways to not mistake feeding for love or love for feeding.

The third book from an amazing serie which is getting better and better...I really want to make a shout out. And I utterly do my best not to give away the story.
It's an experience you should feel yourself.

After they moved in their new bigger home they have to find staff members.
Daniel and Seldon admit to each other that they are jealous when others are involved.
The both respect each other deeply and their love is stronger then any other.

Daniel is growing and is unbelievable sweet, understanding and righteous.
He has so much to learn about everything in this new world for him and he is doing so well.

The story is really REALLY wonderful put together. All the layers are so right and the more you know the more you will love this story. All fit well and the story is expanding enormously. In such a way you just want to know every little detail ....I think it's somewhat addictive :)

Daniel's connection to all his people is getting stronger and stronger. He is highly appreciated
and accepted. The empowering of Marcadon is huge, intense and very sexy and Seldon is so proud. It was a very good part.
The hierarchy works so well, their rank and mood is recognizable by the color of their eyes, everyone knows exactly what to expect. It's comforting and reassuring.

The sex is hot as hell and never disappointing and there is a lot of it in this story. It's their life, their being, without it they will not live. And Caledon plays a big part in this. When Daniel and Seldon have their first 'fight' the feelings are all over, it hurt and it was heartbreaking.
Daniel is still learning the difference between all the feelings, the feeding, their hot sex...their being together. Seldon and Caledon are still learning and seeing new things with Daniel.
Their sandwiches are amazingly put down!

Unexpected matters are developing and it goes deep!! It's a complicated world with danger and trouble for the coming time. Daniel, Seldon and Caledon a sort of trinity, working on the security for the future of their blood.

Amazing detailed read, the pace is great. It's extensive and the development is really well done.
It has so much in it. I laughed, I had tears, my stomach fluttered, my heart run faster and I had goosebumps. It was captivating, funny, endearing, steady, clarifying and hot as hell.

So no doubt about this serie.... it's a #mustread

4.5 stars ! With every new book , The Cubi Series gets more addictive!

After reading Rising Beauty , I can confirm and swear under oath , that I am obsessed with this intense, spectacular, fun and magical series.

The world building and narrative , alone, are mind blowing and provocative. Same goes for characters and relationships development. And the sensual, passionate, deliciously descriptive , scorching AH , sexy times leave me breathless , hot and bothered Every. Single. Time.

Favorite quote/Chapter 22/ Page 301
“You’re completely different from everything and everyone. All I thought I knew about you was wrong or twisted, or you grow out of it or spin it to your advantage. I’ve never been so out of my depth as I have with you.” Seldon reached up and brushed his fingertips over Daniel’s cheekbones. “You keep me guessing. Being with you is an adventure into a personality I hunger to learn more about.”“I love the way you’re looking at me right now,” Daniel whispered. “I love how you can make the whole world disappear when you hold me. No matter how bad it is, you make it go away, or your touch and smile gives me the strength to meet it.”

Someone told me this series had angst. I wasn't really feeling it until this book - and even then, it wasn't HEAVY angst, just some bumps in the road. Daniel is truly coming into his own as this series progresses, and it is fascinating to see his transition. I don't know how much is the writing vs the plot, but I am SO wrapped up in this series and the characters! On to the next!

Throughout this series, we have followed Daniel go from bratty, vain teenager to so much more! This series has had so many twists and turns and shocks and awes! In Rising Beauty we are seeing Daniel grasp his fate. Embrace his future, and accept his life how it is.

There was so much to love about this book and I will be the first to admit I didn't see many things coming... but I'm glad they did. Because each book is a rolling story in a sense, they have to be read in order. No book is a standalone. Start with Untouchable Beauty, follow it with Claimed Beauty, then read this one and wait with bated breath like the rest of us for book four.

We are dealing with so much discovery and suspense in this book. A lot of answers are brought to light and so many giddy moments are had! And because this is a progressive story you are left on the edge of your seat in the end.

It's hard to review this book without giving out spoilers so understand my plight! There is steamy, hot, breathless sex in this book just like the others. Meraki has weaved and incredible plot with all the sexy times. And the world building is out of this... universe.

I don't just give this book five stars, I give this series, to date, five stars. They are fast paced, gripping, sexy, thrilling, humorous, and beautiful and I can't recommend this whole series enough!

This book deserves 10+ stars. I have followed the series from book one, and the story and story world just grow stronger as you read the books. The only issue I have is, how on earth do I review book 3 without giving away the story from books 1-2.

Well Book two turned the story upside down at the end, I was not expecting such a twist. Book three we watch as everyone adapts to the new situation, All the main characters are back and adapting to their new roles in the Cubi Kindom. Danial, Sheldon and Caledon suffer relationship problems due to miscommunications between them.

As though that is not enough the Author does it once again and tips the world upside down, and this was an absolute shock for me.

The whole cast is well portrayed and you get a sense of family between them, even some of the breeders are like family.

The story world is just amazing, just so well written and described. The way the Author tells weaves the story world details and the history of the Cubi people, is amazing. I am constantly wanting to dig deeper and find out more info. If your into Paranormal novels that are fast-paced but not too fast, that are rich in details without being boring or slow to read. And you like hot men having hot fun sex. Then this series is defiantly for you. I find myself wanting to be abducted as a breeder to be part of the fun.

The story was better than the first two books, even though I still think there is too much useless sex. I liked the world building, but I still think the characters are perfunctory.

Sadly, just when I started to enjoy this series, having finally found some love in there, it became a three-way relationship. I thing there should be a public warning about those in the books' summaries. Personally it makes me want to vomit and I have to stop the book immediately. A waste of time, seriously (and no the whole theory whereby you can be in love with more than two persons because you find something different in each doesn't convince me). And thinking the grand evolution of a boy is in the acceptation of a third party in intimacy ? This big goal seems to be more about sex than love for the author. And that sums up the book for me : all sex and no love.

So this one picks up where 2 leaves off. We find our MC's trying to come to terms with what happened in book 2. Were our MC's relationships in 1 & 2 were pretty smooth, all things considered, in this one we have relationship issues, & you guessed it, miscommunication! We get to watch Daniel grow from a spoiled brat to the future king. We also watch Seldon grow to accept his love for Daniel. I feel like Caledon is not strong in the relationship and hope to see them grow as a triad. Yes I know there has to be others cause they really can't live on feeding each other, they do need others.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This book follows on directly from book 2

Meraki has nailed it....again. This series just gets better and better. The world building is strong and the storyline is excellent. The twists and turns keep you on the edge of your seat.
I know I said this in my review of book 2 but once again I was unable to put this book down and ended up reading through to 4.30am....luckily on a day when I DIDN'T have to be up at 7am....and it was STILL totally worth it!
Daniel and Seldon must overcome misunderstandings and learn to trust and support each other, and along with Caledon and a small group of bodyguards they must find a way to get to someone who can teach Daniel how to rule...

I can't wait for book 4....there may be "squeeing" involved!

This book begins right where Rising Beauty finished. Daniel & Seldon are moving into their new residence. Daniel is learning as fast as he can. He's a little overwhelmed by it all but coping with Seldons help. Daniel begins to build up his staff & become more comfortable with all the changes. Again, loads of super hot sex, which was well written & not boring or repetitive. Also, the world building was fantastic. It was easy to follow & understand the differences of the Cubi. It was beautiful to watch Daniel & Seldons relationship develop, watching their struggles with their differences in age & culture. I feel like I'm leaving out so much but I don't want to give away any spoilers. I look forward to continuing their story & look forward to the next book. I would happily recommend this series.

(Originally reviewed for Love Bytes Reviews. Rated 4.5 out of 5.0 Love Bytes.)

I’m really enjoying the premise and characters of this series. This is the third book, and if you haven’t read the previous two, you will need to before you read this one. It is not a standalone. This review will have spoilers to those previous books.

Let’s talk about our story so far. The Cubi series is the story of Daniel, a young man who was distraught with his life and ran off to the city one day for a photo session. When he was captured by the mysterious Cubi and taken as a slave to their secret hideaway deep in a national park, his life was changed forever. The Cubi are an Incubi/Succubi race who live amongst us, but we don’t know about. They feed off sexual energy. Daniel is basically to be a sex toy/food, but not until his 22nd birthday. All that changes though when he is accidentally dosed with the special fluid by one of Incubus’ during a party. Daniel begins to change and it is discovered that he is not a full human, but instead a half-Cubi. It is also discovered that he is royalty and will be the next King.

That brings us to the current book. Daniel is coming into his powers. He is acknowledged by the council as the heir, but no one else knows it yet. The story in this installment explores those growing powers and Daniel’s interaction with the Cubi.

I liked this one. I’m going to be honest (surprise), and tell you there is something I’m not 100% happy with though, which will bump the rating down a little bit. This series reads as one long story, and each installment chops off mid-stream. As any of you who follow my reviews will know, I’m totally not a fan of cliffhangers, and I think the overall story suffers a little for them.

That said, I’m intrigued where the story will go from here, after the sudden changes that happened near the end of this one. I’ve got my guesses, we’ll have to see if they are correct. I recommend this series. Start at the beginning, because you can’t jump in mid-stream and understand the story. I’ll be looking forward to the next one.

Are you ready to continue Daniel’s journey in the world of Cubi?
So now, after Seldon got his punishment and Daniel’s true nature it’s revealed, things are getting a little to official for Daniel’s liking.
His education as Incubi continues with the help of both Caledon and Seldon. But his human side, how he sees the world around him, is still there.

This series being an erotic read, there is not so much to say without spoiling the story for you dear reader, but I will try my best.

The dosing of both Daniel and Seldon is provided by Caledon (mainly). These three are getting closer and closer, but Daniel still can’t see the difference between lovemaking and feeding without being dosed. For him having sex without a dose it’s considered lovemaking. That leads to a very interesting situation between the three.

We will find out in this sequel that every monarch is to bring new powers to his/her people. The same is happening with Daniel too. He empowers his Cubi, both Incubi and Succubi with his power. What is his power? Aren’t you a curious little thing…? Read the book luv. How the actual empowering takes place, I leave it to your dirty/not so dirty imagination…

Remember from the first book, the slave who almost killed a red-eye? Him having a protein what’s dangerous to Incubi and Succubi? Well, we will learn about that too, and the development of that situation brings us to the next chapter of the Cubi world.

The book, as we’re used too by now, gave us a hot read! I’m anxiously waiting for the next book to see how things will go for Daniel, Seldon and Caledon.

P.S.
Well, the next sequel will have a new character called Levidon. You may think it’s coincidence, but it’s not. So let me have my moment of fame to announce you that I will be, as Levidon, in Meraki’s next book *winkwink #hashtagtime #braggingmuch #mebeingamuse

If you've read the first two books in the Cubi series, you will be thrilled with the story in Book Three! If you haven't bought this book yet, what are you waiting for? I see so much of the underpinning themes and ideas that I want to know how the plots from series books all fit together immediately, which colored my read from book one. Fortunately, Meraki P. Lyhne, is whipping out the Cubi series so now, while I am left with questions unanswered in each book, I know they are coming!

Finally, the hints from book one are coming back into the plot in Rising Beauty. The title, "Rising Beauty" perfectly describes the storyline in this third installment that takes place right after Claimed Beauty leaves off. We've learned about the Cubi society and Daniel's place in it with Untouchable Beauty. We get to see a big shift in his place in that society and his relationship with Seldon in Claimed Beauty. In Rising Beauty, we get to see Daniel's evolution both as a Cubi and a leader, as well as a partner in his relationship with Seldon. But so much story goes into that evolution from book one to three that the author has truly sucked me in as a reader, creating a vivid and complex world with compelling characters I can't help but cheer for, despite very complex feelings about them at the same time.

Rising Beauty brings back that pivotal element from book one that I just knew needed to be explored--the slave brought back the same time Daniel was taken--and he throws their whole system into chaos. Just like with any society, there are politics at work and conflicts arising from that, both personal and public, that kept me flipping pages long after I should've been asleep. The story ends with the characters thrust into a whole new world with struggles to face that seem almost unsurmountable. That might seem vague, but to tell you more might reveal too much, and I would never want to mar the enjoyment a reader has exploring the Cubi world in each book.

As always, once I read 'The End' I was left with a burning need to know what is going to happen next.... Will Daniel live up to his role in the Cubi society, even as it changes for the first time in an untold number of years? Will the Cubi survive? I can't wait to find out!

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.25 stars

This book cannot be picked up on its own without having read the two that came before this one. It is one long saga and builds upon itself each step of the way. It’s a rather fascinating story of how Daniel came to be abducted, but then found out he was in the place he was supposed to be all along.

This book, and this series for that matter, is front loaded with a generous amount of erotic content and leans heavily to being classified as erotica. There is a tremendous amount of sex in the book as the men continue to feed off of each other as needed to survive, but also now that Daniel is royalty he is responsible for empowering all of his people, which happens solely through sex. It’s the way the Cubi survive and it’s all perfectly acceptable within their world.

At the beginning of the first book, Daniel was described as being vain with a goal to be famous. As the series has progressed and as this book itself develops, we see Daniel take responsibility for the entire Cubi race while attempting to educate himself on their ways at the same time. The story is woven along the edges of all of the erotic scenes and while those scenes are well written and have a purpose, again, I was looking for a bit more story at times. The book also has lighter scenes showing Daniel and Seldon having fun, but there were portions that had a forced quality for me in places and didn’t seem to evolve naturally. It’s also still not shown what else the Cubi do besides survive. They have incredibly long life spans, but are only shown creating energy to survive and while that’s the nature of their race, I personally could have seen some variety to how they spend their time. The later portions of each book ramp up in action and this book is no different as Daniel and all of the Cubi are forced to rise up and saying any more than that would greatly take away from the enjoyment of watching the story unravel.

Managing to balance being a cub and a human is a difficult thing, something Daniel is starting to find out. Having the lust of a new born cub and navigating his own turmoil of very human emotions.

I find myself wrapped up so thoroughly in this series, the world build just continue to amaze me as it is revealed further for both me and Daniel, even as a closed society it is vast and extensive.
Seeing what is happening from both the view of a human and a cubi helps my understanding of how it all works, since I so easily lean towards Daniels reactions to things.
As he grows up and in to his role, I find him both sweet and compassionate, both to his close friends and to his people, and I love that about him.

As always things keep changing and never in the ways I usually expect it to, when things start to make sense I am tossed in to something new and have to find my bearings again. And I am eagerly diving in to the continuation.

The story-line of this series is really becoming more & more intriguing & the story continues quite flawlessly from “Claimed Beauty” I particular liked the way one of the characters (Daniel) has continued to emotional develop throughout the story-line. The other two characters (Seldon) & (Caledon) are also learning to cope with Daniel & are forging a trinity bond with each other. The well-paced plot is quite suspenseful & there is good scene descriptions & world building.
There is: incubus, succubus, humans, breeders, changelings, minglers, twists & turns, drama, suspense, intrigue, danger, threats, attacks, conflict, violence, trouble, abuse, injuries, responsibilities, punishment, discovery, new abilities, empowerment, declarations, playfulness, verbal banter, responsibilities, heartache, emotional feelings, explicit steamy scenes & far-reaching plans for the future.

So much learning, learning about the new kind of life these Cubi have, learning about their own selves and what a relationship might be other than just sex for feeding, learning responsibility, and, along with the reader, learning yet more about the incredibly intricate, extremely believable world where Incubi, Succubi and simple humanity interact.
Of course, with great power comes ... yeah, great responsibility, that too, but also great danger.
This book, obviously not a standalone, as are none of the others in the series of installments in book form, begins the voyage from old to new, from past to future, from a traditionally antique way of life to something different, suggesting that, since survival can only come about with adaptation, it's time to change ways again, like had been done centuries before.

Daniel keeps becoming a character that I like as he shows that he’s not that spoiled brat from the first book but a capable and smart young man who will probably do great things to help the Cubi world. The balance between the sex scenes and the actual plot is good, the story moving quickly throughout the book. I really enjoy all of the scenes between Seldon, Caledon, and Daniel as they work to discover what works for them, even if lack of communication is rampant within their relationships. The book leaves on another little cliffhanger, but I was expecting that so I wasn’t too off put, and the next book is already available so I don’t have to wait to read it. I would recommend this, but definitely only if you’ve read from book one on.

After getting accidentally dosed by Sealdon and the resulting changes in Daniel he gets to stay with Sealdon longterm as courtordered. He changed the way he sees Sealdon after Sealdon gets punished for his mistake and Daniel gets to see the way Sealdon trys to conduct himself in all he does. Daniel learns to put someones elses needs first for the first time in his life and he grows with all that happens from a spoiled kid to a slightly inmature but responsible young man. Great to see the development in him.
Still some triggers in this book like violence and non-con scenes. So read on your own peril.

The Daniel of book one was a hard character to like sometimes— before he’s abducted he’s self-absorbed and a bit lazy and while he’s sympathetic during his first introduction to Cubi society, in that bad things have happened to him and he’s scared, he doesn’t really start coming into his own as a character, with a will, personality, and a strong sense of self and right and wrong, in earlier installments of the series the way does in this novel. Watching him learn and develop is rewarding, as are the shifting dynamics of his relationship with Seldon and Caledon. While the Cubi society is clearly changing Daniel, it’s obvious here that he has the potential to change it too. Another great installment in a really engrossing series.

Meraki is a powerful storyteller actually makes me believe in this Cubi world. I love how Daniel is growing, he started off as a spoiled brat, then wanting to please and now learning as much as he can as he’s destined to become king. This story deals with his relationship between Daniel, Seldon and Caledon and their erotic scenes. The blurb says it all without giving anything away so one click to read this story.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book for my honest opinions of which I’m under no obligation to do so. I absolutely recommend this book.

As the series continues, Daniel position is getting stronger, while the intrigue and danger got closer. We could witness how he kept learning and growing into who he needs to be, while changing his relationship with Seldon and Caledon, and sorting out his feelings for them. Full of erotic scenes more intense as the series continues, this book is the best so far.
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

This is an amazing series. As Daniel navigates his new life he soon learns that he is in fact a halfling and on top of that he is the rising prince. He now has to learn what that means and how to rule a race that he barely has a handle on. This book leaves you a major cliffhanger and we learn more about the "washed". While dealing with these changes Daniel has to deal with his own love life. Can he get past the human notion of loving only one person and allow himself to have two people he loves most? What will become of the Cubi race now that the military is after them? I look forward to finding out these answers as well as watching Daniel grow to be the king his people need him to be.

I am hooked on this series! Daniel continues to stumble sometimes but continues to grow in his relationships. It's nice to see the friendships between characters develop as well as the romantic relationships. I also like that the older Cubi listen to the younger ones and teach them along the way. I think this is a well-written series, and I can't wait to see what comes next.

Daniel begins to grow, accept and embrace his new future. He’s had a lot of changes happen and we watch as he figures out his new responsibilities.

Each story seems to get better. The world building and characters are detailed and well developed. This story like the others has incredibly hot sex scenes. It’s fast paced, suspenseful, sexy and has a few twists thrown in, especially at the end. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time and I’m intrigued to know more.

Amazing read again !

This is getting better and better. I didn't see some events coming.

I really like Daniel, he's growing up and he's so sweet. And he's a smart young man ! He has Seldon and Caledon by his side and the three of them are really a fine team.

The relationship between Daniel and Seldon also grows nicely and is treated with care, there is so much respect between the two of them. They learn to deal with their feelings and get past some relationship issues.

The sex is awesome as usual, really hot hot hot. So sexy. I was glued to my Kindle.

I really like where the story is going. Daniel and his human touch may very well be what the Cubi need. I'm amazed by the world building and the Cubi history, it's so well written !
This series is definitely one of my all time favorites.
