Tad Palmer makes a promise to his dying friend to watch over the man’s wife and child. Years later, he continues to keep an eye on Posey Jacobs and her precocious little boy. The only problem is that he’s not sure his heart can withstand the vow he made when he falls in love with the widow and her son. Posey Jacobs misses her beloved husband, but her wrenching grief has given way to hope for the future as she finds herself falling deeper and deeper in love with Tad Palmer. However, the infuriating man doesn’t seem to notice her interest and treats her as he would his sister. Throw in a goat who thinks she’s a dog, a town full of quirky characters, and a widow who has her work cut out for her if she wants one handsome cowboy to give her his heart for a sweet, heartwarming romance .
A hopeless romantic with a bit of sarcasm thrown in for good measure, Shanna Hatfield is a best-selling author of clean romantic fiction written with a healthy dose of humor.
In addition to blogging and eating too much chocolate, she is completely smitten with her husband, lovingly known as Captain Cavedweller.
Shanna creates character-driven romances with realistic heroes and heroines. Her historical westerns have been described as “reminiscent of the era captured by Bonanza and The Virginian” while her contemporary works have been called “laugh-out-loud funny, and a little heart-pumping sexy without being explicit in any way.”
She is a member of Western Writers of America, Women Writing the West, and Romance Writers of America.
Once again I picked up a Shanna Hatfield book and could do nothing else but read until I finished. Tad’s Treasure was a pure heartfelt delight to read. Lately it seems Shanna Hatfield books are all I want to read. This author definitely has a gift of penmanship straight from the gates of Heaven. Shanna Hatfield writes in such description I could literally smell the Leather in Tad’s shop and Even found myself tasting Posey’s Lemon Meringue Pie. I could just see Little Nate with his dog and his Goat marching to Tad’s shop after he so ceremonially bathed the goat’s stench away in Posey’s floral scented soap. I no longer have a favorite book of Shanna Hatfield’s I now know that it’s impossible to have a favorite for all her books are good for one’s soul. The only regret I have from reading this book is that I never learned to quilt from my Granny or my Mother in Law
If you’re looking for a captivating read that will pull at your heartstrings, you absolutely must dive into this book. From the very first page, I was swept away by the raw emotions and complex dynamics between the characters, especially Tad and Posey. Their inner turmoil and conflicting feelings drew me in, making it impossible to put the book down. The suspense of not knowing how their story would unfold kept me racing through the chapters!
The author’s vivid descriptions of the setting transported me right there, making the experience even more immersive and enchanting. You’ll feel as if you’re walking alongside the characters, feeling everything they do. This is not just a book; it's an emotional journey that leaves you wanting more. I highly recommend giving it a read — you won't regret it!
The love story of Tad and Posey. When his best friend die, Tad promise to take care of his wife, Posey, and child. A few years later he is in love with Posey. Can he love Posey and not betray his friend? Great story.
Shanna Hatfield has written an awesome story in this new series called Grandma’s Wedding Quilts. I loved Book 12, Tad’s Treasure which is also a prequel to her fabulous Baker City, Oregon, Baker City Series.
Tad’s Treasure is as heart wrenching as it is appealing and romantic as any of her books can be. First a great friendship, partnership, then accidental death of his best friend, Tad is tasked with taking care of Posey his friends widow and her baby son as a promise to his friend upon his dying breath.
How does one man who has had a bad relationship in his past go on to take care of a widow he has known as long as he has known who dead husband, and their baby boy? They certainly are friends and he can watch out for her and help her but she is also a woman who can stand on her own two feet with a man in her life.
Tad’s growing love for Posey is one of the hardest things he has to hold back because he doesn’t feel it is his place to replace his friend but only to watch over them and help them in anyway he can that Posey allows. How is he supposed to do this?
On that same note Posey is leaning towards Tad, not that she needs him but she is falling for him as well. She can’t just blurt this out to him so she tries a bit of flirting. She doesn’t understand why he just doesn’t get it that she likes him or rather is falling in love with him.
How do two grown ups that are friends let each other know they care for each other when both are stubborn in their own ways? It is like tripping over each other to get of the way when it is not necessary.
You have to read this book. Now it is the only one in this new series by several authors that I have read but I love the premise that somewhere in time this grandmother made wedding quilt for each of her grandchildren. That alone is so special that is just makes your heart full of love for this grandmother but also for the grown grandchildren.
So I will recommend this whole series even though I haven’t read any of the other stories but I will be reading it just on the premise of the quilts from on grandmother but also because if they are all like Shanna’s story this whole series will be fantastic.
I received this story as an ARC in exchange for my honest unbiased review.
I thought this was a very sweet story. A clean romance with just a little bit of tingles. Tad promised his best friend, John he would watch over his wife Posey and son while John lay dying. Over the next couple of years their friendship turns to love but are cautious not really knowing how the other feels. I received a copy of this book as a gift with no obligation.
From the first page you can feel the love this book is filled with. Just a few pages in my heart broken for John who knew he was dying as well as for his widow and Tad his best friend. Years go by, with Tad keeping his dying friends last request filling the promise he made taking care of John’s wife and son. I really think with his last words he was giving the go ahead to court and marry his wife knowing that this would be the true way he could keep her safe and take care of her. Maybe I am reading too much into his last words but that is how I saw it.
Losing a love one is never easy but I would think back in that time it would have been harder with women not really working to not have a husband to provide for them. Posey is a very strong women there is no doubt she loved her husband very much. Time heals all with the healing it is time to move on and start over. If you are lucky enough to find love again you should grab it with both hands. This is something that Tad and Posey still have to learn.
The best kind of love is a love that grows from a friendship, nice and slow building over time leaving you wondering just when it happened. I related to this story since my husband and I started out this way. It was a pleasure watching their love grow but both are too afraid to come forward the pain of rejection is strong and feeling you are doing wrong by taking your best friends wife.
The pet goat adds so much to the story which I could relate to since I had a pet lamb a lot like Agnes. This bought back some great memories for me which I hold dear to my heart. I had to chuckle at Agnes and Nate and all they got into together. This was such an entertaining read that had me chuckling throughout. Grandma wasn’t in this story but her quilt sure was, what a lovely thing it was. These quilts have brought such meaning to a wonderful series.
The plot was great along with the characters. There is a lot going on from the death of a beloved friend and husband to the raising of his son, friendship, leaning, learning to go on, loving if only from afar. Nate is something else he just can’t seem to stay out of trouble. I have to smile at how his mother deals with each issue. I really wish I could have been more like her with my children. This is a wonderful clean romance that lightens your heart leaving you smiling as the story takes a few twists and turns. You are so going to love this series each book is just as good if not better than the last.
Shanna Hatfield has an undeniable ability to weave her books, whether historical or contemporary, into a reader’s heart and soul. Tad’s Treasure was an amazing book delved from love lost and true friendship blossoming into a beautiful love. Tad and Posey wrapped themselves around my heart reminding me that the best companionship between two individuals always begins through friendship. Nate stole the show and became an inspiration into the inquisitive nature children can play in seeing what adults are often too blind to notice. This book could be a sweet Hallmark movie that would melts everyone’s heart. Another phenomenal book by Ms. Hatfield not to be missed. Both of my grandmothers quilted and I have many quilts they made. They truly are one of my most treasured gifts. Just as Tad’s grandmothers quilt was destined to grace Tad and Posey’s wedding bed, my grandmother’s grace ours. Quilts and memories wrapped around those who were meant to share a life of love.
Tad and Posey have been through a lot together. Tad was Posey's husbands best friend and partner. When John died, Posey was devastated and so was Tad. Tad was a proclaimed batchelor who promised John he would look out for Posey and their son and make sure she was safe. Neither of them felt that life would put them together as Man and Wife. But attractions happen over time and they must deal with the feelings in their own ways and in their own time. Will they come to a mutual agreement? This story is wonderful and heartwarming. It keeps you reading until the last page. I just couldn't stop.
Loved this story! Tad and Posey are such a great couple. Tad’s friend dies in a mining accident. His friend asks Tad to take care of his wife, Posey, and their son. Tad agrees and does so for 4 years. Now feelings of love have grown between Tad and Posey and they don’t know whether to admit them or not. I really loved this story. Tad and Posey are great characters! I also loved Posey’s son.
“What I want…” One of his big hands slid around to cup the back of her head while the other encircled her waist. “Is to kiss you.” Warmth flooded through Posey and her lips curved upward in a smile. “Why, then, are you still talking instead of kissing me?”
Tad overheard how husband own mother and his supposed fiancè really felt about him after finding the woman he was to marry in deep passionate kisses with somebody unknown to him even, as she turns and tells him it's only for the money she is marrying him but how worthless she thinks he is. Once Tad did find live again he couldn't trust it again. Posey knew she really loved him and that he needed time which she gave him. Excellent book definite five star
This was a loving and heart-breaking read. It was a sweet, fun, clean and emotional read. Tads best friend John had asked Tad to take care of his wife and son after he passed. He does what is asked and they all end up developing feelings for each other. Will they end up together as they should be and learn how to move on? I voluntarily read this ARC provided by the Author/Publisher and was not compensated to provide a positive review. This review is My Own Honest Opinions of this book.
Sweet characters including the fun animals! I loved this story, it kept me hooked from page one. Nate had my heart with his antics along with his adorable goat! A friendship between two men that were more like brothers with their strong bond embedded into my heart. A sweet clean romance that was always meant to be was so beautiful. This is a fantastic story that will keep the reader loving every page!
I found parts of this story to be a "tad" slow, but I still enjoyed it. The love story is sweet, even with a little jealousy and misunderstanding that gets sorted without anyone making stupid decisions or flying off the handle. I'm not sure where the rattlesnake scene was going, but in the end, I enjoyed the story and found it a nice respite from so many other choices of entertainment. I plan to read the rest of the series!
What a fun and sweet story! I had already read the other books in the series, so I was surprised I didn't know about this one! Tad was a bit of a lunkhead, but an endearing one, for sure! I loved the chemistry between him and Posey. One of those stories that you don't want to end so soon!
Your be best friend dies after asking you to take care of his wife and son. How do you feel when you start to fall in love with her and love the boy as a son. You don’t see that she has fallen in love with you too. A quilt and letter from your grandmother finally forces you to ask her to marry you and she says yes!
From the opening paragraph to the final sentence the story held my interest. The characters come to life and were endearing throughout. The history was woven throughout taking one back in time. Shanna Hatfield has once again transported me to the wonderful world of reading which was a sheer pleasure
When Tad’s best friend died in a mine accident, he asked Tad to watch out for his wife and small son. Posey Jacobs, now widowed for 4 years has fallen in love with her protector, Tad Palmer. Ted has fallen in love with Posey but thinks she’s still in love with her late husband. This is a sweet story and it has a feel good ending and it’s clean and holds your interest.
This story has no thrills, surprises, or anything special, though Nate & the goat were pretty cute. But this story is a nice, clean romance that takes place in the West. Story was pretty short. My ebook app said I was 71 percent through the book. 2 pages later the story ended.
It's got to be hard to feel you have to honor a promise made to a dying man, yet have your heart betray that promise; or is it a betrayal? When Tad's best friend was dying, he asked that Tad watch over and take care of his wife and son. Somewhere along the way, Tad fell in love with Posey. Can he reconcile his heart with his promise? I loved this story.
I read this whole series out of order, but I enjoyed each one immensely. Tad and Posey suffered the same loss. They had quite a bit to overcome. I just love when a cute child is added in a story and when they play shenanigans and have quirky animals, I mean, it was chuckles throughout, not to mention my heart soaring with each page. I’m always happy reading a book from this author.
This stand alone story is a book that fits in with several books that Shanna Hatfield has written. When you're done reading this romantic novella, I recommend the other books she has written in the Baker City series where more fun and love can be found.
This book was a typical female western type book. Okay plot except it was duller than dishwater. Either the author chose to set up characters for future books. Or maybe too much editing, made this a lunch time read that could be picked up and put down.
This was a truly good story to read. It was about special friends and things that happen over the years. Though Posey was very headstrong she stood for what she believed in. I would recommend the book to everyone.
Tad joined them. John and Tad bought a mine. They worked together until Tad had the money. To open his shop. An accident at the mine made Posey a widow, Mate without a father and Yes missing his best friend.
This was an enjoyable read by Shanna Hatfield. It was well written, had funny parts, sad parts and series parts. For me the best part was the best smelling goat in the country. You would even liked that part. So read and enjoy.
This was a touching story of the closeness of two friends. The two men had a friendship that is tighter than most brothers. The circumstance Changed after a tragedy which was understandable. I enjoyed the book.
Read it in one day. It is a cute story of Tad and Posey When Posey's husband John dies he ask his friend to watch over his wife and son. Will Tad keep his promise? Will tad and Posey fall in love. Beautiful love story.
Lost love...John, and his family, were good friends with Tad. A promise was made before John died. Tad is determined to honor that promise; this causes conflict for Tad and Posey. Okay read. Typical small town life, not much drama.
What a delightful book of love and loyalty! What happens when your best friend is killed in an accident leaving a wife and a child for someone to watch over? Is it being disloyal to your dead friend when you fall in love? Do you fight those feelings so no one knows?
