I received this book from Goodreads after winning a giveaway. Once I started it I could not stop - I had to keep reading. A young woman, Bri, is having recurring nightmares; each one worse than the last. When she comes face to face with Cole, a handsome shape shifter who appears in the nightmares her fear, confusion and terror become almost unbearable. Adventure, action, romance, paranormal abilities abound and kept me reading to the end. I really enjoyed reading Circle of Dreams and am eagerly anticipating the next in what I hope is a new series!
This book has a lot of secrets you will become aware of as you find out more about a Cole and Brianna and a special army. Calling themselves The Quytel, don’t expect to find out everything as this is only book one. But it holds its own well and is full of action and danger. You will come to care for Brianna and Cole as you find out more of their pasts. I think you are in for a thrill of a read with this book. Reviewed by Jennifer

There are many powerful mysteries in this world. I discovered two such mysteries is this story, one would be the Quytels and their massive fight against the dark. The dark that has been waiting for ages to strike at the heart to diminish all light. And the other would be the shapeshifting wolf clan who can do much more than just shift into wolves. Each member of the pack have amazing abilities. Both have been working tirelessly to fighting against the evil that resides on this planet we call our home.
The book starts off with the prologue where we see two Quytels arguing. They have been keeping secrets. Trying to keep the world safe without revealing themselves. Forces that they thought were long gone is accumulating and people they were keeping in the dark are no longer safe. One of the Quytel doesn’t agree with keeping their existence a secret anymore, at least not from everyone. We then move on the dreams that assail Bri. Dreams that have been decidedly turning into nightmares. Each time she feels a little bit of her essence leaving her body, but tonight it was hard and more painful, just when she thought she could not survive, a man appears in her dream. She wakes up in her bedroom, breathing hard and cringing in pain. As she slowly comes out of the trance of the nightmare, she wonders about the man. She remembers feeling the sense of calm as soon as their eyes had met.
While Bri was struggling to wake up from the nightmare, Cole and his team were out investigating mysterious deaths, they are gruesome and leaves almost nothing behind. While he’s examining the nonexistent clues, Cole is suddenly flying through the air, an unknown force has control of his body and mind. His wolf struggles to anchor itself onto the earth as he feels the nightmare-ish vision try to take away his essence, his being. In his trancelike vision, he sees two women. He wakes up from his trance, struggles to understand what had just happened and realizes that there is something inside of him compelling him to find one of the mystery woman.
So starts the quest to find the truth. Cole struggles with the connection he has with Bri. Is it just magic or something much bigger? I fell in love with the two protagonist and their instant feelings for each other. And the fight to make sense of all that had transpired in a short time. I loved how the author incorporates Cole’s ability with the earth, it was indeed awe-inspiring to say the least. Mother Nature at her best. I loved how Bri opened herself up to all that was thrown at her, internally struggling yet so brave to jump in to protect her loved ones. In the course of reading this story, I met Jonas, Mack, Mali, the other Quytels and the rest of the clan. Mack had me screaming and chanting no, no, no. How was that even possible? But alas it was, cos the dark one as I’m going to refer to the evil one seems to have acquired devious methods to get what he wants.
The magic, the paranormal and the human-side of all that is Circle of Dreams amazed me. It took me on an emotional yet adventurous journey of discovering new things about life, destroying the safe and normal existence that we are so used to. It took me on a fast paced run that left me breathless and panting for more. Will Bri be able to find the dreams to save all her loved ones or will be evil powers that be take over her and make her do atrocious things? By the end of the book I was blown away and I needed more of this magic and then I found out that this was the author’s first book and that left me awestruck. This was definitely a home run for the author. I cannot wait to read book 2 when it is out.
Circle of Dreams is a great story with plenty of character development, an air of mystery, and a plot that isn't entirely shoved to the wayside halfway through to focus on the romance.
Bri, our heroine, isn't exactly some tough, badass chick but she's not some shrinking wallflower who needs a man to save her. Cole is the alpha hero with a very protective streak but he's not a douchebag. They're a lovely duo to read about and an adorable couple.
Cole and his team, a group of psychics with various abilities, are investigating a string of murders of people who are all psychics. It just so happens to be the story that Bri is working on. A witch woman that Cole sees in a vision (who is also the woman from Bri's nightmares) plants a compulsion in Cole to find Bri. Once they meet, it's a huge explosion of attraction, magic, secrets, and sexytimes that will make you want to keep reading and not stop until you hit the last page. It's extremely enjoyable and fun.
Cole's inner wolf, combined with the compulsion he refers to as 'the pearl', constantly gave me a chuckle because it reminded me of Anastasia Steele's inner goddess and subconscious from Fifty Shades of Grey, especially when the pearl did a triple backflip. Unlike in FSoG, it wasn't obnoxious here, just amusing.
In most fiction dealing with romance, I've grudgingly accepted instalove. I don't like it, but it's done so often I just have to roll with it. Instant attraction, which Bri and Cole experience, is fine and I was happily going along with all their sexual tension because it was enjoyable to read. Once Cole told Bri he loved her after only knowing her a few days, I snorted, rolled my eyes and went "More instalove? Oh, please." It didn't take any enjoyment I had from the story and the entire plot wasn't abandoned so they could have sex and gush over each other.
Sometimes the POV would change without any kind of break: it just went from one person in one paragraph and immediately switched to someone else in the following paragraph. I'm not sure if this was a formatting issue or not. Just a slight annoyance and definitely not enough to deter me from enjoying the book.
It would have been nice to see Anton a bit more rather than him popping up at the end as The Bad Guy. He's mentioned a few times beforehand, but he's not really fleshed out, he's mostly a 'bwhaha' villain. The big fight scene at the end could have been better as well. Both Bri and Cole don't really fight, so although I had a sense of a huge battle happening, I didn't really know what was actually going on. Seeing more of Cole's team and their investigations would have been nice as well. I thought that's what we were going to get based on the book blurb and was surprised when the investigating was finished so quickly. Not disappointing in the least, just different than what I was expecting.
All in all, a great paranormal romance and a wonderful read. Four stars!
This is the first book in what is going to be a totally addictive series. The Quytel is a powerful organization of people with physic abilities. They are charged with ensuring the balance of physic power in the world. Someone is murdering people, and all that is left of the bodies is a dried out husk. Bri is a reporter chasing the story of a serial killer. She doesn't know just how much she is connected to the case. She soon will. Cole and his team are private investigators, with a few very special abilities that help in their work..They are also looking into the same deaths. Cole is a werewolf with a very strong connection to the earth. This is a very intense story. The physic battles are so well described you can easily "see" what is happening. Our hero is a strong and sexy man who is so far out of his comfort zone. But still standing firm. Our heroine starts the story confused, with every twist the book takes she gets more thrown at her. It just makes her stronger. I loved the book, and I know the series is about the Quytel, but I want to follow Cole's team as well. So I hope they appear in the next books.
I really enjoyed this book. I get in a reading slump sometimes and just don’t want to finish books no matter how great they are but I did NOT have that issue with this book. I was up until 5 am reading and I don’t regret a minute of it. I enjoyed all of the paranormal aspects of this story. It was just different enough to keep it interesting.
The only two things I didn’t care for was the jumping from one POV to another and the insta-love that happened. Ugh, it hurts my head so hard. LOL I did knock off a star for those two things as it made it a little hard for me to be completely head over heels in love with the story. I will definitely read the next book in the series if/when that happens. Definitely a solid 4 star book!
Circle of Dreams starts with a bad nightmare that Bri can't shake off for having it for weeks. I have to say when i first started to read the book i could not put it down it keep me wanting to know more what would happen next. I like the development of the character how Bri started in the beginning and in the end. This book had everything romance, mystery, and adventure. But the only flaw that it had was i could not tell who point of view i was reading. When it went to Cole point of view then Bri. Overall i cant wait to read the next novel:)
I am at a loss for words. I have NEVER read a book like this before. It was absolutely AMAZING… One fault that all of us humans have is that we fight love. But as the old saying goes “Love Conquers All!” With a different story line you will not be disappointed. There is action, romance, paranormal activity and the fight for the greater good. This is book is definitely reread worthy. I can’t wait for the next book to come out and share in the future journey of Bri and Cole. I wish I could rate this book 10 stars!!
This was a very interesting book indeed. It has different elements woven into the plot, and although it is similar to other paranormal YA series, I enjoyed the twists and turns. This was a fantastic debut novel. I could not put this book down, from the moment I started. I especially enjoyed the teaser at the end for the 2nd novel, Circle of Fire. It made me hungry for more and I can't wait!
This is a page turner: the story works and is well balanced, the characters are interesting and you cannot help but root for them! The author hints at a rich universe and I cannot wait to read more... Bring on Circle of Fire!
It's tough to get a unique paranormal romance plot these days, mainly because the genre is so popular now that most readers have almost read everything there is to it - yet we keep coming back because it's, you know, SO GOOD! After that, it depends on the story and the characters to make it work for us.
This book had an interesting approach to the supernatural, but didn't have me going bonkers while reading it. Still, it was a nice start to a really amazing series, so I can't complain.
The Quytel are a group of people who are immortal and try to keep the balance of the universe - not only internationally, but some would say even among other dimensions. When Cole gets mixed up in their business, and meets Bri, a woman he sees in his dreams and is undeniably connected to them, he'll find out how much more there is to know about powers than just his own as a shifter and an element-user. But first, he has to make sure he and Bri stay alive and together.
This wasn't bad as a story. It had suspense, as you don't know what would happen in the next page, and plot twists, and the action was decent. I liked Cole's group and would like to see more of them in the future, especially that quiet guy, but the Quytel were the star of the book, no question. Every single one of them was so interesting and complex, you can't help but get drawn in.
The pace was constantly fast, and it didn't disappoint, it was flashy and gritty, just how I like it. The only problem was Bri, she wasn't exactly easy to deal with as the female lead, so I hope she gets more tolerable in the next books, seeing how important she is to Jonah. That and the romance - the sexy scenes were hot and fine, but I wasn't really sold on the emotional part of the relationship...
I'm definitely sticking with this series. I want to see how things will go for the rest of the characters in the Circle, and uncover more about those mysterious enemies of theirs.
***I was given an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinion stated in this review is solely mine, and no compensation was given or taken to alter it.***
I live for paranormal and urban fantasy. And I absolutely love being able to explore new series.
The Quytel series features a secret society of watchers/guardians of great and unmatched psychic/supernatural/druidic/magical powers.
This first installment involves Bri, a young woman who has recently been plagued by intense, vicious, and painful nightmares that seem too real. Cole, the leader of an elite psychic team, is a shape-shifting wolf with a deep connection to the power of the Earth. In the process of investigating a series of supernatural deaths, he is linked to Bri when he is pulled into one of her too-real nightmares. An intense compulsion is linked to Cole and he feels he must find Bri and once he finds her he cannot help the intense feelings she compels from him. Is it the compulsion or is it something more. A group of big bad baddies keep showing up to kill Bri? Why? And what is the link to these suspicious supernatural deaths? Why does the woman Bri sees in her dreams have her death mother's eyes?
The world-building here was fun and unique. It did take some time to really grasp all the elements involved. I grew a bit weary of Bri not just snapping at her guardian for the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.... but, plot devices... The love/attraction/lust aspect was a bit insta-y but such was fairly on par for shifter tropes. The pace was a bit slow but, all in all, did not detract from the overall story. There are plenty of other avenues we are left which I would love to explore.
I look forward to reading the next in the series, Circle of Flames.
This has satisfied my need for something original in the PNR genre.
This is a story that needs you to concentrate, you can't just go for a ride with it. The structure and mythology of the Quytel is complex and hierarchical and has a long reach, one that's been hidden for millennia. I really enjoyed getting to grips with it.
Bri lost her family at a young age and came into the care of Jonah. But strangely he never seems to age? She begins to have rather weird nightmares and as they progress she is soon joined by a strange man. Rather than be fearful, she actually feels safer once he appears.
Cole, his twin sister and the rest of his team are investigating a spate of murders all along the west coast. But when he touches one of the freshest corpses they have found, he is assailed by wild images and a need to find a particular female. He takes off on a solo mission to finds this female and when he does, they soon find themselves in a struggle against some very formidable foes.
Cole and his team are a great bunch of "others". They all have unique talents and just spark off each other like a real family. Bri is a very late bloomer to the world of the paranormal. But as family secrets gets revealed, she deals with it quite admirably. I would not take all the lies quite so well!
Mack is great as a second to Jonah, he may follow orders but he won't do it blindly or without putting forward his own opinion. I'm looking forward to reading more in this unique world!

The main characters were really exciting to follow on their journey. I hadn’t read this author before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was not disappointed! **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book
I have never read anything by this author so was completely unprepared for what happened when I picked this book up I was dragged into a world that never stopped and I didn't want to put this book down at all. If this is any indication this series is going to be brilliant
Bri can't stop the nightmares and they are getting worse all the time and each time she has one she feels a small part of herself disappear. Cole is a member of the Quytel a group of shape shifters who have extraordinary powers who are determined to stop the evil trying to take over the world He is on a mission when he suddenly has an out of body experience and he sees two women in his mind one he knows he has to get to immediately Bri is startled when a man she has been seeing in her nightmares suddenly appears on her doorstep Wjhat is the link between Cole and Bri. Can they fight their way through the nightmare they are thrown into and do they have a future together You will have to read to see
Circle of Dreams is the first book in Jane S. Morrissey’s The Quytel and is definitely an exciting and fascinating insight into a society of extraordinary people with unique physic abilities. But really, who wants to be charged with the unenviable task of ensuring balance of physic power in an ever-changing world?
A cast of intriguing characters guarantee that the story is fast-paced with plenty of mystery and suspense that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Cole and Bri are interesting leads and provide a wealth of intense moments with some twists and turns along the way. Overall this is a great start to what promises to be an addictive series and I can’t wait to read more about these exceptional beings.
Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This was a magical and imaginative take on shifter paranormal romance. Cole is a private investigator who is drawn to the elusive Bri who he sees in a vision. He is sent to protect her from those murdering paranormals. Their connection is strong and sexual attraction undeniable. They work together to find out who is after her while learning the truth about her past and heritage. Intriguing beginning to a promising series.
Circle of Dreams is a great start but the mythology will slow the story down as readers try to better understand the author focus and where the story and characters will take them. Jane Morrissey ends the book with a teaser that will have readers jumping into the second book even with the lack of understanding of the mythology. The characters are interesting enough for readers who are on the fence to want to see what happens in the next book. Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of Circle of Dreams.
I’m not sure how I feel about this book. Cole and Briana meet through some special circumstance and are brought together thanks to some paranormal stuff. The story was good but I feel like there could have been more between the two. Cole is trying to keep her safe, Briana is trying to keep Cole safe and de tangle the lies that have made up her life all the while trying to solve the mystery of murders that are occurring.
It’s a decent read but I felt like I was missing something
This book introduces a new type of character to me . Very action packed and just the right amount of romance. I really enjoyed the characters of the story and the twists and surprises. I would recommend this book.
Cole grimaced internally. It was dicey wih the man able to read his mind. He resisted the urge to look at bri, but felt her presence. Her distinctive scent of jasmine and lavender was oddly comforting.
Jonah frowned and looked from Bri to him and back again before continuing.
It wasn't bad book. In the first chapter or so got a little confusing , but the more you read the more you understood the book. I would recommend it . It wasn't my cup of tea but it wasn't bad.
I received this book from Goodreads after winning a giveaway. I really enjoyed this book. Circle of Dreams is a great story with an air of mystery. There is action, romance, paranormal activity and the fight for the greater good. It made me hungry for more and I can't wait!
This is a modern, paranormal romance. I enjoyed the building up of anticipation towards the climax. I also liked how the truth to all the many secrets were slowly revealed throughout the story. I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.
fantastic, great characters with surprising abilities all in all i believe this was the fastest i have ever read a book. just could not put it down. thank you Jane regards matt
