Patti LaBelle is an American singer and actress. She fronted two groups, Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles, which received minor success on the pop charts in the 1960s, and Labelle, which received acclaim and a mainstream breakthrough in 1974 with their song "Lady Marmalade". She went on to have a solo recording career, earning another U.S. #1 single in 1986 with "On My Own", a duet with Michael McDonald. She has sold over 50 million records worldwide.

She is renowned for her passionate stage performances, wide vocal range and distinctive high-octave belting. Her biography, Don't Block the Blessings, remained at the top of The New York Times best-seller list for several weeks. LaBelle has been called the Godmother of Soul, the High Priestess of Good Vibrations and the Queen Of Rock & Soul.

A short little book by legend and my Aunt in my head Patti LaBelle. Aunt Patti maybe a R&B legend but she has been through a lot. She lost all 3 of her sisters to cancer and each died before they were 45 years old. She also lost her best friend to cancer at 38 years old. She got divorced and her career hit a low point.

Through it all Patti managed to keep on smiling. Patti let's you know how hard it was but through the pearls her friends and family have passed on to her she made it through.

I don't have a whole lot to say about it because its not a "real book" its just some mantra's to live by along with a story or two.

I can't believe this book sat neglected on my shelf for so long. It's filled with old adages, but what makes it so special is how she shares stories from her life and ties each saying to a personal experience. Reading this book feels like your having a chat with your favorite aunt...who happens to be Patti LaBelle.

Every teaching in this book can be linked to Jesus. If you have love and conviction for Jesus, then this book will be of towering benefit.

This book is amazing! It's as if you are listening to your grandmother speak wisdom onto you. I am currently 33 years of age and feel like until now I have gained most of the knowledge in the book. I always believe in listening to our elders. While written 20 years ago the lessons still apply. This book is written for the young woman in her 20s and 30s. Even 40 and 50s. There are times she talks about the lessons from her divorce so it's definitely helpful there. I do not think you need this in high school only because you may not understand why she implements these lessons. It teaches you the importance of family, being healthy, self love, God, saving money, and valuable lessons for those of us who lost family members. Also it's helpful for us women who place careers on a pedestal. While career is important, times with family and friends are even more important. Buy the book, you won't need many other self help books after this.

Patti’s Perals was definitely an encouraging book. This book went into deep definition on what it means to live genuinely, joyfully, and generously. This book did change my view on many topics, I believe it’s a great book to sit down and enjoy while going through a rough patch in your life. Many people need to hear the inspirational words coming through this book. I highly recommend this book to teenagers who need a little bit of encouragement in their life. Or to adults who are simply to busy to take time and relax and need to hear some encouraging words.
