In the safety of his arms lies passion...and danger.

NYPD Detective Gray Yates has major trust issues. Protecting a serenely beautiful woman hiding enough secrets to take down an entire city wasn’t something he bargained for. She’s a loving single mother, hot as hell, and protecting her will test every ounce of his resolve.

Alex Romano is being blackmailed by the Pyramid—an elusive international organization of assassins every cop in the world is after. When Alex tries severing ties with them they refuse to let her go. The darkly dangerous detective she’s irresistibly drawn to is her only hope of staying out of jail. He just might be her savior...or her downfall.

Despite efforts to maintain his professionalism, Gray can’t deny the fiery passion Alex ignites in him. In an explosive confrontation, Alex’s lies are revealed and Gray is faced with the most important decision of his life: trust the woman he’s falling in love with, or arrest her.

Each book in the NYPD Blue & Gold series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.

This is a well-written, entertaining, fast paced, steamy, romantic suspense novel, which is written with attention to detail. It has a sympathetic female protagonist, a heroic, NYPD detective male protagonist, sizzling chemistry, relationship drama, secrets, an adorable boy, intrigue, action, twists and turns, and a happily ever after ending. This is the second entry in Ms. O'Fallon's excellent NYPD Blue & Gold series, and it can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone. I am looking forward to reading Dom's story with great anticipation. I listened to the audio version of this novel, and the narrator, Ms. Samantha Prescott, has a lovely voice and does an outstanding job depicting the characters and their personalities.

LOVED IT!! And because nothing about it prompted any negative thoughts out of me, it deserves 5 stars!! I enjoyed the characters, the plot, the suspense, the romance, the EVERYTHING!!

Detective Gray Yates has major trust issues just like the blurb says. After trusting the wrong person while doing a tour in Afghanistan resulted in the deaths of most of his unit and one too many children, he's closed himself off to attachments. No trust means no one gets too close. His strict by-the-book, black-and-white world gets knocked for a loop when he finds a sizzling connection with One Police Plaza's administrative assistant, Alex. He knows that she's hiding something and he's determined to find out what.

Alex Romano was a single mom, intelligent, beautiful, and trying to make ends meet while paying for her son's leukemia treatments. Really tugged on the ol' heartstrings with that one. She's an incredible mother and this story is really about the lengths she'll go to in order to protect her child. Targeted by an international organization of assassins and mercenaries, known as the Pyramid, all of her carefully buried secrets rise to the surface and her and her son are now in danger. Can Gray ever understand and forgive her lies? Or will his rigid control over his heart and lack of trust mark the end of their love of a lifetime? And just what is HE willing to do to ensure the safety of those he loves???

READ this book to find out!!

Excellent!! This one had just the right blend of romance, suspense, and mystery. Add in intriguing characters and an excellent storyline to come up with this absolute must read.

Single mom, Alex Romano, has secrets. Secrets that could mean life or death for her and her young son. Detective Gray Yates is drawn to the beautiful Alex and wants nothing more than to get to know her. Then he learns she is in the middle of his current case. Will he uncover her secrets and leave her exposed or will he protect her and her son?

Don't miss this one. I highly recommend it.

Blood Money is the second book in the NYPD Blue & Gold Series by Tee O'Fallon. It's not neccesary to read the first book in the series, it could be perfectly read as a standalone; but I'd recommend you to read Burnout first just to have an idea who Detective Gray Yates is.

"In the safety of his arms lies passion...and danger".

NYPD Detective Gray Yates has been burned before. As someone who has suffered at the hands of betrayal, trust issues are a daily occurrence.

Alex Romano is being blackmailed by the Pyramid—an elusive international organization of assassins every cop in the world is after.

What do you do when the woman you are irresistibly drawn to is hiding enough secrets to take down an entire city? And on top of that, you're the one assign to protect her. Testing Gray's resolve has never been sexier.

But when Alex's lies are revelead and Gray is faced with another betrayal...

Will be Gray's love enough to overpower his fear of trusting again?
Will he be her savior or her downfall?

description

Blood. Lies. Money. Lust.

From the start, this fast-paced, action-packed, romantic suspense had me glued to my kindle. It was the perfect combination of romance and suspense held together with Tee O'Fallon's writing; an author who understands suspense well enough to know how to have your heart racing with richly detailed scenes and engaging ups-and-downs.

Just as the suspense, the romance in this book was well-paced. I enjoyed how the tension between the characters built up at the beginning of the story and then at the half-way point, shifted into something else. I totally sympathize with Alex, who unlike Cassie, never gave me a headache. Her actions were always on point and that made me really like her.

And what about Gray? Ah! My darkly dangerous detective. There isn't one thing I didn't love about him. I got to meet him while reading Burnout and I was intrigued by him. Then, after reading this book I know I love him.

Deny the fiery passion between them? IMPOSSIBLE. Despite the doubts that surrounded them, their relationship combusted into something deeper, LOVE. But will be that enough? Or will Gray end up arresting her?

The reason I didn't give the book 5 stars, is that I feel the ending a little rushed. And there was a particular situation-character from I was expecting more. I think that the author could have just used him/her to create more drama. Well, she did it, but it was not enough for me.

Blood Money had the right blend of romance, suspense, and steam. And a couple who is relatable, likeable, and will have you rooting for them til the very end. A great addition to the romantic suspense genre.

The Pyramid is still out there, here's to hoping we will be getting more in this series. I'm waiting for you Dom.

I wasn't sure about this one at the start, thought that Gray came off as a player, thought Alex needed more. Then when you knew Alex was hiding something, I knew it wouldn't go over good when Gray found out. And it sure didn't, but by then Alex should have known and made the time to tell Gray, her other surprise went over like a led balloon.

For much of the book, Gray was helping Alex, but it seemed like it was under protest and he went hot and cold with his feelings, often giving Alex whiplash. By the end I was glad that Gray realized what was important and he did what needed to be done. It made it so the ending was one I was cheering on, glad that this family had a chance to get to happy.

This is only Tee O'Fallon's second published book but I am completely amazed by how well-researched and well-written this book is. BLOOD MONEY is exciting and fast-paced, has the perfect balance of romance and suspense, and will definitely keep readers on edge and eager for more after the last word.

Alex Romano is a single mom with a very sick child, a mountain of debts and secrets, just ripe for the picking. With the access she gets at her job at the NYPD headquarters, she's just the kind of person that could be vulnerable to pressure from anyone whose knows what strings to pull and with an international organization of assassins/mercenaries blackmailing her and threatening her child, she's in a no-win situation, no matter how you look at it. Working with the cops to take down the threat against her is the only way to save her child, maybe keep herself out of jail and salvage her fledgling relationship with Detective Gray Yates but her secrets may be the death blow to a relationship that barely had a chance to flourish.

Gray has earned the right to be skeptical about people and their motives and in spite of the strong attraction he feels for Alex, he's right to be suspicious of her motives for getting involved with him. He is the lead detective in the case against the organization threatening her and she could be with him to get information for them, but the more time he spends with Alex, the harder it becomes to believe she's using him and the harder it is to keep his hands off her. But when her secrets come to light, will he be walking away from her or putting her in cuffs?

This book was so intense on every level. The passion between Alex and Gray was so powerful, the emotions so deep, the secrets so heartbreaking, the threats so real and my stomach was constantly churning with the roller-coaster ride this story took me on. This author may need to teach a class on how this stuff is done!

This is one of my favorite books so far this year and I unreservedly recommend it to both fans of and newbies to the romantic suspense genre. I'm excited that this is only the second book and there are potentially a few more characters that could have stories (I'm looking at you, Jess Yates), which means more books hopefully and I can't wait.

Review copy was received from Publisher. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

The  NYPD Blue & Gold series continues with Cassie's brother, Gray, who we met in the first book.  We also get to see Cassie and Mike again, as well as her partner, Dom. The setting is NYC and the task force is still chasing the Pyramid who tried to have Cassie killed.

Blood Money starts with Gray and Alex going on their first date and being very attracted to each other. They have worked in the same department for 8 months.  The lust is off the charts which feels kind of weird because we don't have the lead time and anticipation they do.

It turns out both of them have things in their past they would like to forget / hide. Everything blows up before they have a chance to talk about them. The danger was so high I felt irritated that the NYPD wasn't doing more to protect Nicky as well as Alex. I was also frustrated because - of course - Gray and Alex had trust issues and wouldn't just talk to each other.

From 80% to the end, it was heart-wrenching rocket ride, so fast and so dangerous. I wanted to scream, pace or cry, or all three! My heart was racing and still couldn't keep up!  After this fun, I am all set to hear Dom's story in Disavowed.

Narration:
The primary point of view here was Alex and so the female voice was most of the performance.  Both the male and female voices felt appropriate, but I didn't catch any NY accents which I thought I might.  I continued to like this narrator. I was comfortable listening at my usual 1.5x speed.

I am love, love, loving this series. Who wouldn't want a police force full of hot men like Gray?
Gray Yates is a sexy brooding cop with major trust issues due to an incident in Afghanistan years earlier when the woman he loved betrayed him. When investigating the Pyramid case he realises the one woman he has chemistry with for the first time in years is involved. However he doesn't believe Alex is as innocent as she says she is so how is he meant to protect a woman who won't open up and tell him the truth?
This was yet another brilliant read from Tee O'Fallon, I simply just couldn't put this book down. Alex was easy to love with her intelligence and sass but she had a soft side to her too in the love she had for her son and making sure she protected him with everything she had in her. Gray is that protective alpha cop and the battles he had with his inner self led him to quickly realise he couldn't go on without trusting. I like it when characters quickly realise their flaws and make amends like Alex and Gray as it gets boring when it drags to long. This is an action packed book that will leave you wanting more. I am hoping we get a book about Don, Grays partner in the force.

Plot: 4/5
Characterisation: 4/5
Prose: 4/5
How much I enjoyed it: 4/5

Romance? Checked. Thriller? Checked. A bit of head-banging due to frustration at the main characters? Checked. It could have been a perfect story? Double-checked.

Both Alex and Gray have issues of their own. Alex running from an abusive husband and a protective mother to her sick with leukemia son, Nicky. Gray still wary from trusting anyone after the debacle when he was in military which led to death. I swear I've read this plot hundreds of times but this story certainly made full use the plot lines.

With Alex's constant need for secrecy to protect her son and Gray's distrust of lie by omission, its one step forward and two step backwards each time they cross a milestone in their romance. The writing was seamless that I didn't know which one to blame for that, the plot or their stubborn characters.

I’m currently having a run on romantic suspense, and I’m loving it. Blood Money features two people, Gray and Alex, who are incapable of trusting, and, it turns out for good reason, they’ve both been let down badly by someone they let into their lives. Never to do it again. Or maybe, just maybe, they can start afresh together….. or maybe not. Lots of action, suspense and sexy time, in this tale of lies and deceit as Detective Gray Yates tries to find a lead in tracking down the Pyramid (a group of deadly assassins). I love Tee o’Fallen’s writing and stories, her alpha heroes are passionate and loyal, and her heroines are strong and independent. NYPD Blue and Gold book 2, Blood Money’ didn’t grip me quite as much as book 1, but it’s not put me off the series, I’ve got book 3, ‘Disavowed’, lined up and waiting. Dom I’m coming for you.

Overall I enjoyed reading this. I was halfway through the book when I realize I had read the previous book in the series. How? The dog. I remembered it right away, funny. I enjoyed it I just kept getting annoyed with the female protagonist every now and then she would flip into stupidness. I don’t know why. The child was entertaining and I could even enjoy him a little more of him. It was predictable but fun.

Wow!! I love suspense romance. Lots of action and add sizzling hotness makes an awesome read.
Alex is started a brand new life with ur son seven years ago. And is struggling to make it. Her son has a rare leukemia. Which makes her subject to be a mole in the police department. She doesn't know it yet. Gray is a detective on the police force that she works in. Sparks are flying around them. Then she gets that call that again changes her life. Does she help the bad guys to save her son? Or will she seeks help from her date the detective?

An exciting story, filled with tense suspense, fear, danger, misgivings and trust issues all well balanced with the cutest kid and two mistreated hearts trying to find a way to happiness with all the possible roadblocks on their way.
The story immediately took my interest and pulled me into the world of terror and secrets. Alex Romano is an intelligent, independent woman who is used to take care of things by herself and not rely on anyone's help or support. Her son Nicky has a rare form of leukemia, and she is willing to do anything to protect her son, to keep him safe, and to get him healthy.
Gray Yates was betrayed by his former love interest while in Afganistan resulting in the deaths of children, comrades, and his best friend's girlfriend. The guilt, the regrets, the remorse is something he is used to carrying with him until Alex caught his eye and he felt maybe there was a chance of happiness for him as well.
I loved the connection between Gray and Alex. The chemistry was hot, and their lust-filled thoughts were melting the pages. Both of them had something they were hiding from the world around them, but no one expected the extension of the lies and deception Alex had built around her and Nicky. The story unfolds rapidly, the continues twists and revelations keeping the tension high and the feelings raw. There came a point where I wanted to shake Alex, as it seems there's always something more, starting to feel as suspicious and tired of her lies as Gray was. Alex and Gray put each other's trust and honesty to test again and again until the drama filled crescendo.
Constant conflicts and action, violent battles with the terrorist, mixed with gorging hot romance with serious trust issues, and one adorable young man, that will steal your heart, with a mother who is willing to sacrifice everything for her son's life and health. Buckle up, it is a high-speed, explosive, and highly entertaining tale!

A whole lot of explosive action…in and out of bed!

Need I say more?
Probably not, but I will.

The only gray detective Yates recognizes is his name. Everything else is black and white. Thou shalt not lie, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not marry bad people and make a baby with them because thou may have to end up running from other bad people. Too bad he hadn’t met Alex first so he could hip her to those rules. Rules she had no idea she was even breaking. Except for maybe the first, but with good reason, of course. That reason being that baby- now an adorable little boy- that she made with the bad person who’s now trying to steal him away.

Every which a way are hulking, handsome heroes. What’s a girl to do? Turn the page, that’s what and keep on reading. Not a hard feat when a book is this good. O’Fallon hit the mark with the writing. Bullseye! I was there. Every moment of every scene. The action blew me away. I had to check for scars a couple of times. Terroism, blackmail, secrets (making it easy for the blackmail, of course), sex, lies, scandal…and best of all…love. The story has it all.

Gray stole my heart, but so did Dom, Gray’s partner and best friend. They are quite the duo, and Dom’s mysterious, yet care-free behavior made my heart thump. I am so waiting on his story. I love him and Daisy. She’s a spitfire and loyal friend. Nicky is the sweetest little boy. He tugged at my heartstrings. I felt so bad for him, and was so glad he still enjoyed his life and didn’t concentrate on his very serious illness.

And don’t get me started on the shower scene! Nothing Pyscho about it.

Ms. O’Fallon is a new author for me and I have to say, I have become already a fan. Blood Money is book 2 of her series titled NYPD Blue & Gold.
This one centers around Detective Gray Yates, a by the book detective whose outlook on life and love was affected by a devastating incident in Afghanistan. Alex Romano, is a woman hiding in plain sight, with a very sick child, and as any mother, will do anything for that child.
Just when they decide to date, their world turns upside down. Gray feels betrayed . Yes , Alex has been lying , but she has not been using him.
The plot is complex, the main and secondary characters are well developed, there is suspense, intrigue and romance.
It’s a reminder that life is not black and white, that a mother’s love is unbendable , and that one needs to take chances in life , especially in love.
If you like suspense, romance, complex characters , an engaging plot and hunky men, this one is surely the one for you.
I was gifted this book by Netgallley and Entangled Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Tormented
What an excellent story! Two tormented hearts afraid to start again because of their pasts. Can Gray or Alex let go of the past and open themselves up enough to trust each other and move into the future? You'll have to read BLOOD MONEY which is an emotional romantic suspense novel to find out. I was glued to my e-reader until the end! This is the first Tee O'Fallon story I've read, and although it's the 2nd book in the NYPD Blue & Gold Series, each book can be read as a stand alone. However I'm looking forward to reading Book 1 (and HOPING for a 3rd). Due to sexual and adult language and situations this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via Tasty Book Tours through NetGalley in exchange for an honest blog tour review.

This was a good read. A few things got under my skin. I don’t feel like all avenues as police officers and FBI did their job. Granted Alex was wrong in doing what she did but for the sake of your child and health issues you do what you half to do. Second Gray was a prick about a lot of things but his biggest issue was that he believes everything is black and white and in reality shit color all kinds of gray. No one bothered to check her story about the bank. Everyone believed she was guilty and even Gray just screwed up. He said some really hurtful things and I really don’t blame her for not wanting to contact him when her son was taken. I have no room to pass judgement on either one of these characters but they both need some counseling. Gray is still stuck in the past from the love and betrayal he suffered from being in the service; and Alex from the abuse from her husband. I get the fact that her first priority is her son but when does she seek the help for herself. What is the difference between what Cassie did and Alex?

I’m conflicted. The plot was good and well written. But what pissed me off is the same thing that pissed me off on the first book. Cassie was supposed to be a tough as nail cop but didn’t behave like one. Alex was supposed to be a genius but didn’t behave like one.

Both books the Heroine had plenty of time and opportunity to come clean and neither did. With ridiculous reasons for not doing so. Both heroes were stuck in the past, said really hurtful things and then they are forgiven in the blink of an eye? Maybe I’m just too much of a b*%@ and unforgiving but I thought that was too easy. A few “I’m sorry”, puppy eyes and all the hurtful things are forgotten?

But, it was still a good story and a good book. I just had to pretend that Alex was just a regular person and not a genius and the book is more believable.

A breath of fresh air to see the female lead in a bad spot actually going to the people who can actually help her instead of going it alone. Finally an author who rights what should happen in reality!!! SWEET

The feelings of hurt and pain for these two characters jumped off the page. I am impressed with the emotional aspect the author captures and I'm only at page 95.

I was captivated throughout this story...then the author has the female go against the police and those that are trained...WHY...WHY...you ruined the story at this point...UGH...this would have been a 5 star if she didnt add this crap in the story...UGH...snore...now skimming to get it over with.

A few misdirections along the way to love

Two different intrigue laden issues are at play in this story. I loved seeing Grey and Dom back in the city and learning more about their time in Afghanistan. The back story of the Pyramid terrorist organization we learned about in book 1 had a big part in this story, but they weren’t the only villainous part. Along with another villain we met several new characters who were all vivid and helped build this complex world of romance, crime, intrigue and family. I can’t wait to read book 3 and see what happens with Dom and Daisy!

Secrets is the name of the game with Gray and Alex. With pasts that define their entire lives, moving forward is the goal that seems too far out of reach, no matter how badly they want it. Blood Money has suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. Gray and Alex must figure out how to set aside their differences before the game turns deadly.

Secrets & Lies

A woman and her little boy hiding from everyone. A cop we was stung once when he trusted someone and is reluctant to let anyone in. When he starts to, the secrets and lies begin to get exposed. This book started. Little slow for me but halfway through, I couldn’t put it down. A nice addition to the Blue & Gold Series.

I really enjoyed this one. It pulled me in from beginning to end and can be read as a standalone though it is the second book in the series. Gray is finally taking out Alex, who he has been interested for months but neither were ready. They have a great date and then things take a sideways turn very quickly with Alex being blackmailed by the Pyramid and Gray being pulled in two different directions. Due to his past he is now having a very hard time trusting Alex and that she has given him all the information. Alex is just trying to get by and get her son the treatments he needs with fighting the rare cancer he has. Gray can't just leave Alex alone either though, he needs and wants to make sure she is protected though he is trying to pull back emotional though has a very hard time actually doing so. This story was well written and engaging with the twists and turns as well as watching the relationship build amidst everything going on. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next one!
The narrator did a good job with the story and characters and bringing it to life.
