I know what they say about me. That I’m a cheater. A disgrace. Not fit for the crown. And certainly not worthy of love. They’re right. What happens when Prince Charming humiliates himself in front of the world?
He tries to move on with life as quietly as a billionaire prince can.
Which is exactly what I’m doing.
I’m focusing on me. Focusing on my duties. And focusing on doing what’s right for my people.
I’ve given up on ever having modern-day fairy tale romance because I blew it when I broke my ex-fiancé’s heart.
Instead, I’m going to do some good, starting with creating the biggest car race in the world and sending all the proceeds to charity. It’s not to save face – it’s because I want to.
So what I’m not going to do is focus on Jessica Croft, the beautiful, rich CEO of a news outlet. After her very public divorce, she can’t even stand the sight of me. I don’t blame her.
Now Jessica is in Dubreva to report on the big event, along with the rest of the press. But while the whole world is watching the race, I can’t keep my eyes off her.
Because despite her sharp tongue and distaste for bastards like me, I may be falling for her. If only she’d stop being a royal pain.
I am Prince Phillip Celestro di’Vale. And this is my last chance at love and redemption.
The Royal Pain is a complete, stand-alone novel about two people with broken hearts finding love. It's the perfect for beach read for fans of contemporary and billionaire romance with just the right amount of steam. If you believe in second chances, you’ll love The Royal Pain.
Sci-fi junkie, video game nerd, and wannabe manga artist Erin Hayes writes a lot of things. Sometimes she writes books.
She works as an advertising copywriter by day, and she's a New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author by night. She has lived in New Zealand, Hawaii, Texas, Alabama, and now San Francisco with her husband, cat, and a growing collection of geek paraphernalia.
You can reach her at erinhayesbooks@gmail.com and she’ll be happy to chat. Especially if you want to debate Star Wars.
Its super meh for the first 75% of the book but then it turns angsty and crazy and entertaining. Does things make sense with our heroine and get job security? No. But it was for the dramatics baby.
I received a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review
I am so glad the author decided to turn this into a series and to write book 2 about Philip. In the first book Philip does something really bad and it would've been easy to think of him as the bad guy, but at the end of that book the author painted him in a more grey light that made me curious about him. In this book we get to know more about Philip. With what he has done I was wondering how the author would handle that and turn him into a likeable person. Erin Handles that part really well and soon I was rooting for Philip and hoping he would get his happy ending.
Philip really regrets what he did, he is trying to find his own happiness after what happened, but it's difficult. I was kinda happy to see him struggle with it and realize he did something bad, as he did, but the fact he knew he made a mistake made him more likeable to me. He's a real person who made mistakes and still feels the after effect from that and he wants to make amends and be happy. And then his love interest is someone who at first can't look beyond that mistake he made. They sure have some obstacles to overcome.
I liked the romance in this one, Philip and Jessica were so good for each other. But they have to overcome some obstacles first. She can't see past the mistake he made and he jumps at conclusions when something goes wrong. I did predict one of the twist later on in this book, but I was surprised how both characters handled the fall out from it. The ending was really well done and I was surprised at the direction things took, but I also think it was really important for them and will help the find their own way and happiness.
We also meet some of the other princes and I can see how there could be some more books in this series about them if the author decides to write them. I wouldn't have minded learning a bit more about the characters, but overall this was a very well written romance novel and I enjoyed reading it and seeing Philip and Jessica fall in love. I enjoyed this book even more than the first book and I think that's partly due to the longer length of this book. It felt like the length was right for this book and there was enough time to get to know the characters and see them fall in love. Things did happen slightly fast, but it was all written in a believable way.
To summarize: I really enjoyed this book. We meet Philip in book 1 where he makes a big mistake and does something bad, but instead of painting him as the bad guy the author gave him his own story. Philip knows he made a mistake and he has a hard time finding his own happiness after that. I liked Philip and Jessica together, they seemed a good fit for each other. Jessica judged Philip at first for the mistake he made and couldn't see beyond that, but slowly she gets the know him and looks beyond the mistake he made. I predicted one twist, but was surprised by the direction things took after that. I had fun reading this one.
Oh my goodness...The Royal Pain is even better than The Royal Trade--and I didn't think anything could top Book 1 in the series. I was WRONG. Seriously.
Erin Hayes has managed to pull the readers into the storyline. We feel everything the characters feel...including hurt, rejection, love and a really cool HEA.
You're not going to want to miss this one, so One-Click today! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and absolutely loved it!)
I really enjoyed. This fun and quick read. Prince Philip. In this book his ex fiancé has married his brother. Being faithful has never been Philip's strength. He does miss having someone there. Philip is working on changing. I really loved this book I strongly recommend to romance and fairy tale lovers.
The Royal Pain: A Billionaire Prince Romance by Erin Hayes is a quick read filled with romance, love, angst, misunderstandings, forgiveness, and love. Oh yeah, rich people too. Phillip, a prince, who feels like he never does anything right. Jessica, who has an American rags to riches story, who has her own issues to deal with (can we say hubby problems). Then of course there is Phillip’s mother who is all kinds of mixed-up fruitcakes.
Erin Hayes does a wonderful job developing her main characters. Phillip is a man with many facets like a diamond. He just needs the right light to really shine. Jessica has many hidden layers like an onion that just needs to be peeled back to show the ripened vegetable beneath the skin. Hayes takes her readers on a journey of discovery not only for her characters, but only for themselves.
NOTE: This novel is for MATURE (18+) readers.
I received an ARC, but voluntarily reviewed. The opinion expressed is my own, not influenced by anyone or anything other than my reaction to the story read.
I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
Phillip is trying to move on quietly after a public break-up from his ex-fiancee - problem is as a billionaire and a prince that is not exactly easy to achieve. Then he meets a beautiful media CEO who is more famous than he is - however she is not interested in helping him with his redemption - just in being a royal pain.
This was a lovely story that continued the story after the previous book and focused on Phillip and how he handles the fallout of his infidelity, break-up and then marriage between his ex-fiancee and his younger brother. He certainly had a lot to handle and was starting to sort himself out when he meets Jess and his world is spun on it's axis. It was well written and nicely explained. I think she was very tolerant of the person who published as I think I would have thrown the book at them.
When you have ridiculous amounts of money you have a few more options in life than those who struggle and toil. So you can organize and throw Gran Prix races and balls to celebrate them and fly when and where you want on your own jet (NO TSA!!!). Ms. Hayes has had a great deal of fun creating a world of beautiful people and including some of the nouveau riche whose struggles to rise through the ranks become the stuff of legend. If this is your first glimpse into the Kingdom of Dubreva you will enjoy the story but if you can, read the first novel, "The Royal Trade," before embarking on this joyous lark of a book so you can understand how the Crown Prince got his knickers in such a twist to begin with. Yes, it is explained quite well, but it is so much more enjoyable to read the details for yourself.
So the Prince is back and he doesn't seem happy. Although his life has changed and so has his ways Prince Phillip still seems to be proving himself at every turn. Since Jessica is recovering from some experiences herself, her impression of Phillip has changed. . . for the worst. Phillip works hard at proving himself and his actions but it seems he just can't catch a break. When all of the bricks start to fall it's time for him to make a choice and Jessica to make a stand.
Great ending and I love how it branched off the story of Eric and Cara, and I like that Phillip's story was told like this. Well done great read, light fun and sexy.
Much like a Phoenix, something strong and powerful can rise from the ashes. I very much enjoyed reading Phillip and Jessica's story. Even the rich and royal make mistakes. Traveling from page to page watching these characters grow and over come was astonishing. Well rounded characters and an intriguing plot has me secretly hoping they'll be more in this world. It'll be nice to hear how Henry is healing!
This is the sequel to The Royal Trade. I absolutely love this series & this book did not disappoint. This one is all about Prince Phillip & branches off of Eric & Cara. I love the premise & the characters. This is a fun & entertaining read. A sweet & sexy read that I recommend reading this novel & series as it is worth it. Looking forward to read book three in this series. I volunteerly reviewed an advanced reading copy of this book.
Seriously, Erin Hayes stepped up for this sequel. I really enjoyed the first installment, but this book is a stronger book overall. The pace is perfect, the tension palpable. Highly recommend as a sweet and sexy read.
Also, excited to hear that there are more books in the series in the works!
The Royal Pain was such a fun and entertaining read. Erin Hayes's writing gets better and better with each book. Perfectly paced, I couldn't stop reading to find out what happened next in Phillip and Jessica's love story. I can't wait to read more about the charismatic princes in the next book in the series!
The Royal pain can be read as standalone as it follows another couple Once again we came to the country created by Erin Hayes. This time we follow the Prince that was mostly hated in previous book. But will IT change?
Book if full of romance that i can tell for sure. I also found here places to laugh and cry - all mixture of emotions i need on great book. Plot is sepreted in 2 POVs so we get to know book from perspective of Philip and Jess. I really enjoyed their way around each other - time a dance with the partner that you get one step close and than take one step back. Characters are great, you enjoy reading about them. They can mąkę you cry And laugh at the same time. Henryk needs a book about him!
After the cheating scandal that ended Phillip’s relationship he has been looking at what went wrong. As well as how he can find happiness going forward. Chatting to Jessica Croft of Croft Media at his brother’s wedding to his ex-fiancée Cara he is wary of the press but finds her easy to talk to.
Covering a charity Grand Prix and ball Jess is happy to be away from the States and the news of her recent divorce. Finding out that her husband had cheated on her makes her have a different viewpoint of the Crown Prince Phillip. Understanding how Cara must have felt when the scandal broke. During the ball a photo is snapped of the two of them starting rumours of a romance. Something both Jess and Phillip deny.
As the Grand Prix takes place an accident has them in each other's lives and suddenly buried feelings they had for each other surface. However, when Jessica’s editor-in-chief publishes a story about Phillip the following morning he tells her to get out of the country. Attempting to gain damage control she looks into why the story was published against her consent. Things come to a head when the Queen requests that the board fire Jess as CEO.
This author needs to do three things, and she'll rise in popularity and sales. I guarantee it.
1. Update her covers on Goodreads, they are on Amazon, but not here. 2. Add a bit more steam. You're already pushing the R-rating, so let's get a little more rowdy. 3. Make them a littttttle longer. They're already pushing slightly past novella length. Just as soon as we get to their coupledoms in this series, the books are over.
I love her heroines and her heroes in this series, her world-building, grammar, romance, tension....all of those things are great. They're just missing a little ooompf.
Minus one-star for the "prince" thing not being resolved.
This is the second book of A Billionaire Royal Prince Romance Series. I love this series! Phillips and Jessica's story is beautifully written, fun, sweet, and sexy. The secondary characters are great. Jessica Threet and Christopher Boucher did an amazing job with the narration. I love their voices together. This is a great team author/narrator. Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, The Royal Mistake.
Prince Phillip is the Royal Pain. He has messed up so bad that he wants to make it right. The story that ensued is very entertaining. Jessica Croft is a Billionaire CEO of Croft Media. When these two get together there is a sizzle. I loved this book. Just falls short of 5 stars, I wanted a bit more to the ending. Can't wait for Henry's story... Pam James.
“A big part of finding redeeming qualities in yourself is finding someone who sees all the redeeming qualities in you. A lot of people base their self-worth on what others think of them. Dating someone could be a good step for you to move on and find purpose in yourself again.”
I loved Cara but this story is much better than the first one 😉 Jess, you badass, you! And Phillip 💋
I liked this book a bit better than the first one, but that may be because I already know the characters and the environment. It’s not unusual for me to rate second books a bit higher for that reason. But I really liked the female main character and the ending when they just did their thing and let the bitch queen behind.
I really enjoyed this book It make you hate the Queen and love the prince for doing what was in his heart. Phillip is very loving and so is Eric his brother Now I’m going to read what happens to Cat and Henry from this book enjoy reading from this author
This is a very enjoyable story with a lot of ups and downs. I details much of the lives of royalty. They are not as free as most people think. I recommend this book!
A definite step up from The Royal Trade. The story, moving along a lot more quickly, kept me wanting to know what was going to happen. I appreciated that the conflict seemed to be on both sides and not just creating a 'damsel in distress'. All in all, good passive reading.
