This is the second in this young adult paranormal series. I believe you really need to have read the first book before starting this one as it continues the story from that one and I suspect anyone jumping straight into this will be a little confused as they’ll have missed out on all the action in that story. Again the heroine of the escapades is Abby, now seventeen years old but still surrounded by mysteries, trolls and knights whilst trying to cope with being a teenager in High School. She and her step brother, Michael, have a much better relationship after surviving their adventures in the first book but he’s changing and so are other people who survived the school encounter, they’re becoming halflings. As Abby bargains with her cousin, Ashlynn, now the troll queen and known as Sofia, there are plenty of other dangers around.

Wilhelm has been imprisoned and tortured by the wicked witch and knight leaders, his stepmother, who has fatal plans for him. Can he get free in time to save himself and protect others? As he puts the clues together can he help overcome the evil schemers? Get ready for a manipulative sea dragon and a lion to have pivotal roles in this fight where you’re not quite certain who is on the side of good or evil – and just when you thought you’d sorted it, it could change!

Another action packed story, this finishes on a real cliffhanger – I really need the next book in the series!

Many thanks to the publishers for gifting me a copy of this e-book. This is my honest opinion after choosing to read and review it.

Troll Cries by Ashley C Harris is a sci-fi and fantasy and teens and ya read.
Abby thought that after magically escaping the world of bewitching trolls and killer knights her life could go back to normal. Too bad Michael, her stepbrother, has returned from his time underground with more than just terrifying memories; something is happening to him, he’s changing . . . .
An absolutely fantastic read with brilliant characters.  I loved Abby. She was my favourite character.  I even felt for Leo. Can't wait for next part. Highly recommended. 5*. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from netgalley.

I received a free e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Likes: The story is unique and captures reader’s interest. It is fast paced and for the most part, flows well. I still love the characters. Abby is coming into her powers as a knight but still has a lot to learn as she copes with being a teen and the mayhem that trolls and knights invoke. Her brother Michael plays a more important role in this novel and I look forward to seeing how his problems will be resolved. Wilhelm is still interesting and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for him, as well as his and Abby’s relationship.

Dislikes: Since I received an ARC, I am hoping that the little grammatical errors and misspelled words will be fixed before the final copy is released. There were many of them and it distracted from the story. A few times there were even wrong words used in a sentence, like know instead of no. There were a few scenes that were confusing as well. The first dream sequence left me in a daze.

The story still captures my heart and interest but because of technical issues, I have to give this book three gems.

Update: Without all the technical errors I would rate this book a four. I did forget to take into consideration that ARCs will more than likely be sent through the editor's once again.

It's Pretty Good, And Deserves A Chance

3.5 Stars

This second book is a pretty good continuation of the Troll series. Abby and Wilhelm are joined by Michael and Sofia as main characters. Cordelia makes more appearances, and we are introduced to more Sea Dragon knights, as well as, the Sea Dragon.

The story is told mainly from Abby and Wilhelm's POV. We also get POV's from Michael and Sofia, as well as, the occasional one from Cordelia. Having these additional POV's, gives us more insight to the characters and gives them more depth. I personally liked the characters of Michael and Sofia, and thought they were well written. I felt the relationship between Abby and Michael, and how it evolved from book one to book two, was really well done.

We start book two not long after the conclusion of book one, and with Wilhelm and Abby. The plot primarily centers around Wilhelm and Michael, with plenty of action and Troll Magic.

Unfortunately, what should have been an enjoyable read, was overshadowed by the terrible editing job. Hence the reason for the lack of stars. Also, while the story is a good one, there was too much filler descriptions and unnecessary fluff.

Overall, it's not a bad read if you can get past the lack of editing. I will probably read the next book, because it ends with a cliffhanger.

It's not you....it's me? I'm not completely sure, but whatever the reason/s, it took me entirely too long to finish this book. From March 2nd to April 13th to be exact. Blame it on my kids busy schedule...blame it on my attention being elsewhere, blame it on the book not keeping me fully invested. There was a lot of reasons really why I just didn't feel like picking this one back up but I didn't really want to DNF it either. So I pushed on....and on....and on. For 42 stinkin days! I thought the story would wrap up and I would be happy I stuck with it. But no, that wasn't the case and it ended in a cliffhanger.

Unfortunately this is one of those stories that I just don't have much to say about. It was okay. I enjoyed parts of it. Mostly from the prequel what I enjoyed most was the interaction between Wilhelm and Abby. Sadly, that's missng for the majority of this book. That left me feeling meh overall.

Basically in this part of the book human kids are turning into trolls and Abby is trying to stop their transformation, all while also battling evil knights (who hunt and kill trolls) who want her dead too, and trying to figure out her own destiny in all of this new crazy world.

The biggest accomplishment I can say is that I finished it. If you want to know more about the series check out my review for the prequel, which should be read first, called Troll .
