This author does a phenomenal job both giving a fair and balanced account of this controversial friars life. The book is packed with enough detail and historical context that you can see well enough of what was going on when that was around him, which lead to the responses he may have received. I think this author also does a great job capturing his sermons and sayings (whether public or private; certain or attributed) to give a better and more well-rounded understanding of this friar. In the end, I think the author paints a realistic but also favorable portrait of this friar, this unsung hero in times of corruption and tumult. I think this book would benefit those living in our times as well.
