The opening scene was cute where Jigsaw’s mom told him to finish his broccoli before he could eat dessert. So when he thought no one was looking he dropped the broccoli into his glass of milk. He dad kept insisting Jigsaw finish his milk but it turned green and little pieces of broccoli floated to the top and he wasn’t going to drink that down. His dad knew this of course and still made him drink it down!

Nicole came to him because she was given a note that said I saw what you did with cutout magazine letters on construction paper. Another kid came to them shortly after, and more kids got the same letter. Eddie’s top secret folder went missing that contained his idea for a million dollar invention. It was left on the teacher’s desk during recess and Jigsaw caught the principal going through papers. He was just gathering her notes for a meeting, and Jigsaw bundled them up and gave them to him. It was discovered after that Eddie’s folder was gone.

Jigsaw also swiped a candy from the jar which I didn’t like. That seemed really out of character and was not ok to do. Jigsaw got his own note and wondered who was there to see him.

He needed to go to the principal’s office to find proof and Mila said to do like the bad kid in their class and get in trouble. He knew the lunch lady would send him so he grabbed up a glob of someone’s jello and prepared to throw it but couldn’t follow through. I was glad because that would have been bad to do and it would have ruined his record of never being sent to the office.

He went and told the secretary that he had been sent, and he eavesdropped through the door with his invention and heard him he’d sell it for 10k. So he goes in and accuses him of taking Eddie’s invention! I was like what?!? Then he remembered that the principal had gotten other papers off the desk and that he had handed them to him. So he backtracked and explained that he took them by accident. If that wasn’t bad enough, he further put his foot in his mouth by saying he heard him say he’d sell for 10k and the principal explained he was selling his car. He wondered how Jigsaw had heard him with the door closed and Jigsaw said good hearing but he was still suspicious. I so didn’t like how he handled that and it was so out of character and unlikable. What a blunder.

In art class they decided to see who had construction paper and a few kids did, but one was too messy and one didn’t have magazines, and one wasn’t missing letters. They left the shy quiet girl. They confronted her and she admitted to it but it was all because it was her invention to get people to be nice if they thought they were being watched. So it was a good thing…Okayy

Eddie’s invention was a Monopoly money counter that didn’t work well and sent the money flying all over. So that was a flop and didn’t live up to the million dollar earning expectation.

There was one mystery element where Mila spoke in Pig Latin. It’s where if a word begins with a vowel, you add “way” to the end. And if it starts with a consonant you add ay. Like out would be outway and on is onway. And man is anmay, and good is oodgay.
So oodgay orningmay, igsawjay is Good morning Jigsaw.
Uresay is sure.

It was so hard to follow at first and was disappointing and my least fav as that mystery tool that’s in each book. But I got the hang of it and at least it was different.

One of my least fav I’ve read so far. Not interesting and I didn’t like the way Jigsaw was acting. Wish the mystery and inventions had been better, also the reason behind the mysterious notes.

Everyone's favorite young detective--Jigsaw Jones--is hard at work as usual in this installment of the popular series as he tries to solve two mysteries. When first one classmate and then several others receive mysterious notes that seem vaguely threatening, he and his partner, Mia, try to identify some potential suspects, but several of their suspects receive the notes too. The second mystery involves the disappearance of his classmate, Eddie Becker's plans for an invention. Even though Jigsaw accuses the wrong person, he eventually solves that case and the other one too. Young readers will enjoy trying to figure out what's going on for themselves and gain even more respect for Jigsaw and his sleuthing skills and powers of observation along the way.

This is newly published by Feiwel and Friends (rather than Scholastic), not Preller writing new books in the series.
There is a contest to create an invention and the prize is a million dollars. Eddie thinks he has done it and puts the envelope with his plans in it on the teacher's desk. When they go missing, Jigsaw Jones and his partner Mila are on the case.
A chapter book mystery perfect for beginning readers.

My first reading of a Jigsaw Jones book. It was a nice little story for the middle elementary readers. The characters were likable and a nice bit of humor. No real surprises, but nice entertainment for an afternoon.

When Jigsaw's class has to each make their own invention, Eddie's goes missing. He says it was a millionaire invention. The other mystery is that people are getting notes every time they do something bad and they all say "I saw what you did." They're all the same except they have different colored construction paper.
