I don't know what it is about a Cyborgs I find intriguing. Maybe it's the extra abilities they have and the soldier mentality. They are almost like a super hero. Either way, I enjoy a good Cyborg romance and March did not disappoint. He had to fight for his love and he never gave up searching for her. He is what I like to find in a main character. While I didn't love this book, I certainly enjoyed March and I will continue to read more from this author. ARC provided by NetGalley.

3 stars.

1. Too much s**.... I know, I know, but I just wished more time was spent on the storyline
2. I actually wanted more book time with the baddie... he's crazy for what he did but it would have been good to delve a bit more into his reasoning
3. The ending feels incomplete. Yeah, there's the assumed HEA but the decision the H/h made have such far-ranging consequences that I would have liked a glimpse of what it'll look like. Now this is one book that should have an extended epilogue.

All in all, I'm still interested to see how Xenia fare after this, though.

My reviews of this series have gotten longer and longer because I’ve become invested in these stories and characters. If you have ever even considered diving into a Sci-Fi romance, this is the one! (Then go immediately to the Breeder series by this same author!)
I thought Kai Andros was my favorite Cyborg, NOT! I am in love with a Cyborg. His name is March Fellows. This installment in the Cy-Ops series is exactly what the author promised, a love story. Just a really super hot, steamy, adventurous one! I love second chance romances and March and Jules offer an awesome version of this trope with all the emotion and angst you need to get your heart all riled up. If you have gotten this far in the series then you know the background and the references, so I’ll cut to the chase by saying the journey is more than worth it! I loved March’s internal dialogue that allowed us into his thought process and turmoil. Not only did he never give up, he is willing to be the one to change his whole life around to be with the one he loves…awesome! Here is a man’s man/Cyborg’s Cyborg who whole heartedly embraces what he feels for Jules and even after getting his heart broken, trusts his instincts and follows his girl until the end! I love watching a man chase a woman for once. Even though Jules heart was also breaking, she was trying to do everything right – for her people, her planet, her family, everyone but herself. Heroic and honorable, but damaging her own heart in the process. Oh the feels! What made this work was how honest the characters came across. I never felt like scenes were overdone or exaggerated. There were times when I didn’t even register the Sci-Fi genre because this was just a really good love story, and I was totally caught up in it. Please let there be more! Thank you again Cara Bristol. I absolutely love these books.

March Fellows decides to combine a bit of personal business alongside special cyborg ops business when he maneuvers his way onto a planet emerging from isolationism. He thought he had a good chance at love until he was holding a terse good-bye note. Now he wants answers.

The Cy-Ops series was a gem of a find last year and I have greeted each new release with wide-open welcome. This latest story is no exception. A second chance romance and some political intrigue in a cyborg sci-fi is just the thing.

Claimed by the Cyborg is book five in the Cy Ops series. While there is an overall series arc, it is light so a reader can pick this one up out of order or read it standalone.

March takes the job of ferrying a new space craft to Xenia that will be a bonding gift for the Emperor's daughter. His boss wants him to get intel and soften up the Xenian government higher ups about allowing a Terran base on their planet, but March also hopes to use a few hours to hunt down Jules, the Xenian exchange student who loved him and left him years ago. He's never gotten over her or her leaving. Only, one look at the Xenian Princess who is to be bonded with her matched mate and suddenly he has a pretty good idea why his Jules ditched him.

Juliette has dreaded her arranged bond and looks back on her two years visiting earth and living the freedom of a college student with no duty to drive her as something she wished she could have again. Leaving March was the hardest thing she had ever done, but her fate was sealed from the moment she was born the first child of the Emperor. Her people are set in their ways and the peace and future of their planet depends on her doing her duty. She is resigned until she stares into March's amazing blue eyes.

The complication of their reunion is not the only issue the pair must face as March ends up in the middle of a dangerous plot to remove Juliette's future bond partner.

I've always thought it fascinating how each story in the series presents a new alien culture and world. The Xenians rely on tight, strong societal rules, emotionless transactions and relations, and above all strive for peace. March enters this world and he's the alien. Poor March gets the not so enjoyable surprise of learning that his Jules is not a commoner like him, but royalty. He's angry and hurt, but also mourns again Jules' loss just when he was hopeful of finding her.

The story isn't long and reads quickly. It's a nice blend of romance, sci-fi elements, and a suspense. March's cyborg-ness is less of a factor than the heroes of previous books, but then again, his skill set is a bit different. His background and personality are also different- not as ruthless and alpha- which I think is a good thing. No cookie-cutter cyborg heroes or heroines in this series.

The political intrigue side of the plot stayed in the background somewhat until offering up a snazzy twist there at the end leading to a nice intense climax. The romance was a reunion so it had to get past the issue of her bonding and his frustration that her duty stands between them.

I try to take my time with these, but end up devouring them in one sitting and am left eagerly waiting for the next cyborg ops adventure. Those who enjoy sizzling romance with cyborg characters and a colorfully drawn sci-fi world should try this series.

My thanks to the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I am completely new to Cyborgs and have not been in the past a fan of science fiction books, but I think I'm now converted. I didn't even realise that it is part of a series until I came to write the review - but it didn't matter, the book reads fine as a stand-alone. And I loved it.

I won't run through the story - it is there in the blurb - but the essence of the book is the love story between Julietta, the daughter of the Emperor of Xenia and a cyborg called March. She had run out on him once before, so when he finds her again he can't believe that this time she will not do the same. The romance between them is touching, and very well written, and I found myself willing them on to overcome the odds and be together.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story and have no hesitation in recommending this excellent book. I think I'm going to have to change my reading tastes to incorporate more of Ms Bristol's books.

I voluntarily received a copy of Claimed by the Cyborg for an honest review.

This is a series that does not disappoint and each book I enjoy more and more. In Claimed we are introduced to March Fellows (love the name) who is on his own personal mission to find his long-lost love. He has searched for her for years without and luck and now he feels like this is his chance to find out why she left without so much as a goodbye.

Julietta has pined for Mach for years yet she has always placed duty first as her culture demands. So, she left her happiness to return to royal life, to prepare for her soon to be future. She is on the cusp of being Bonded to another so she can produce an heir and in a years’ time take the mantel of her planets sovereign and ruler. No pressure. Once Juliette sees March all bets are off and her feeling that she suppressed for years come rushing back.

This story had a little bit of everything, action, romance, mystery, and suspense. Once I got going with the book I couldn’t put it down and stayed up way too late to finish. I love this series and can’t wait for the next!

One time lovers reunite in this fast-paced sci-fi romance full of political intrigue and unexpected twists and turns. From the first page to the last readers will find themselves on an exhilarating thrill ride while rooting for two people from very different worlds fighting to reach their HEA. It all adds up to a memorable tale that held me captive, and had my pulse pounding, to the very end.

March Fellows was once a professor who fell for a young woman from another planet. Their time together meant everything to him, had him thinking of the future, until she left without a word. He longed to find her but a tragic act led to a damaged body that had him becoming cyborg and to a period of fighting terrorism. His latest mission has him delivering a gift in support of a politically advantageous marriage, but through an unexpected series of events finds himself face to face with the girl who left him long ago. As old feelings come roaring back March soon finds himself in the middle of a plot to take over a peaceful planet, jailed for loving a woman meant to rule. With his life and love on the line, will March let his self-doubts rule him, or will he fight for his HEA? March is a good man who felt used and betrayed by Jules. He never stopped looking for her though and the moment he saw her again it was like she never left. Their connection wasn't without speed bumps though as he felt that their obvious class differences, and his cybernetics, would keep them apart which has him making a life-altering choice late in the story. In the name of love March is ultimately willing to sacrifice all which had me cheering by the end of the story.

Julietta was always drawn to Earth and relished her time there, fully immersing herself in the culture as well as finding love. Obligation to her home planet could wait as she found joy in being just Jules with March by her side. When time ran out she left that part of her life behind and came home to fulfill her obligations despite how unhappy it made her feel. Seeing March though has her questioning her obligations as well as her personal satisfaction as being with him makes her a better person. When her bonding ceremony takes a murderous turn, putting March and her people in jeopardy, she makes a decision that puts her HEA in doubt as all the political machinations came to a head. Jules was a likable heroine torn by duty and desire which made her very sympathetic. She truly loved March but had her future mapped out for her since she was a baby and struggled with her decision which added emotional depth to a story full of political intrigue. With her life and love on the line she fought tooth and nail to reach her HEA in a rousing and cheer-inducing conclusion.

As part of the Cy-Ops Sci-Fi series this story is a satisfying addition that stands nicely on its own but builds on the series as a whole because of the political implications seen here. The main couple is engaging, with their battle over duty and honor, and I was quickly consumed by their sensual romance. Action-packed sequences were nicely balanced with the sweet and sexy interludes, that led to a slight lull at the story's mid-point, before amping up to a rousing conclusion. Fans of sci-fi will relish this tale, and series, and will want to hold on tight in anticipation of the next installment in this well-written series.

When you are born with the weight of the world on your shoulders, the pressure can cause anyone to buckle. So when Jules got the opportunity to study abroad, she couldn't have been happier. To learn a new culture, make new friends, and be someone she isn't is everything she ever wanted. Just when she least expected it, lighting stuck and she meets a man that captivates her in way no other man ever has. They begin a sultry affair and feeling start to grow, but after awhile Jules runs away in the middle of the night unexpectedly.

Years have past, but March has never forgotten the girl that got away. When a chance to visit the world that his Jules is from, he jumps at the chance to try to find her just one more time. What he didn't expect was to come face to face with her in the most surprising of ways.

He should walk away and never look back, but his draw to her undeniable. And when they find themselves alone, their magnetism is unequivocal. However, just as they are getting reacquainted a problem occurs that put them in a position where their life could be in danger.

Will they be able to find out the people involved and make things right? And if they do find out the who and why, will they be able to stay together or be forced to part again?

Claimed by the Cyborg is a stunning, thrilling, emotional journey that will pull at your heartstrings and keep you on the edge of your seat. I really enjoyed the fact that this couple have a history and it's that history that makes them who they are today. Even after everything that March has been through, he's still the man Jules knew all those years ago.

I loved that even though Jules may not have wanted to rule her world, she always knew her heart and even years later, her heart was still true. She always put her family and her people above her wants and desire, that says a lot about who she is. March is the same way, just when he wants to walk away because he's been hurt but Jules' actions, he still comes back to her.

I really enjoyed this latest edition to the Cy-Ops series. It's a fast paced page turner that will take you on a journey to another world filled with passion, heart, and a dramatic story line. I can't wait to see where the next book in this series will take us next.

Along with the other Men of Mettle in this series, the story about Julietta and March was intriguing. There was treachery, love, devotion, honor and the ancient ritual of keeping an Empire going ahead with the eldest daughter taking the reigns. Never mind if she wanted it or not - it was her duty. Enter former lover March and all her father's plans go to hell in a basket. The ancient rituals embedded into a community, the deceit of officials - one in particular - and the strength of a love between a cyborg and future empress and you have the makings of a darned good story. I loved the twists and turns and the ending, while it was obvious, the steps towards it made for some interesting reading. Great story.

The beautiful Crown Princess Julietta of the planet Xenia has fallen in love with an “alien” from Earth, former university instructor Marchand Fellowes, later turned covert ops Cyborg. Should she follow her duty or follow her heart? I loved the whole “I’d give up my empire for you” premise. So totally romantic!!

Romance is what carries the day for this story, distracting me from plot holes and atoning for obvious story developments. The Epilogue, a recurrent feature in the other Cy-Ops novels, is noticeably missing from Claimed by the Cyborg. I want to know more about the HEA, including the Xenian response and the “ahem” inter-species compatibility in regards to heir production.

Ah, that old daisy game!

You know - pick a daisy, pull the petals one by one, "she loves me; she loves me not.." March fell for Xenian Jules before he knew she was Princess Jullietta, heir to her planet's throne. Before he became a cyborg. But when he ends up a guest at her bonding ceremony? When he becomes a participant? When it all goes south? When she says one thing in the bedroom and another in public, REPEATEDLY?!! This wild up-and-down, back-and-forth tale ends just shy of a wedding and a coronation, in such a way that those events seem imminent. I assumed so. If, after reading, you wish also to assume HEA, you may well be right!

I thought Claimed by the Cyborg another fantastic addition to Cara Bristol's Cy-Ops series. I'm absolutely loving this series. In this book the characters March and Jules have to go through many obstacles to find their true love and I enjoyed reading every bit about them. I highly recommend everyone to read this book and this series you won't be disappointed. I'm anticipating the next book in the series to be another amazing story and it can't come soon enough.

Jules/Julietta and March

March has been looking for Jules for five years. They met in college but then he woke one morning and they was gone. Gone from his life, gone from school and gone from anywhere he could search. He's finally gotten a chance to visit her home world.

The planet is getting ready to celebrate the bonding of the royal princess and next Empress of the planet. And March has been invited/forced to be a guest at the ceremonies.

Cute story as the Cy-Ops series goes.

Cyborg Mate

Juliett tried to be normal for a few years but she eventually had to return to her old life. However; leaving March was the hardest part and not being able to tell him who she was. Until March accidentally found her and discovered who she was. Will they find each other or will reality interfere? Highly recommend this book and series

Seriously? Why are you NOT reading this series? I know, I know. I don’t read much sci/fi because frankly, I’m more visual when it comes to the genre. Star Wars/Star Trek anyone? But I can not get enough of Ms. Bristol’s Cy series. The men are hot, brave, loyal and fierce when it comes to their lady loves. The women are just as equal to the men. No wallflowers here. Sure, they have some kind of conflict going on but in the end, the hero and heroine are equals and treat each other as such.

March is just awesome. In fact, he might be my favorite out of the series. He gets pulled back into the Cyber Operations world when things go south. I really liked his interaction with Carter, the head of Cy-Ops. I’ve heard from a very good source, that Carter FINALLY gets his book next. About time. He has intrigued me from the start. Anyone, March is one of the good guys that never leaves a man down or a woman that he has wanted for the last five years. He never gives up and he never gave up on Jules. The sweetest part of the book is towards the end. He gave her something to work towards and finally had her see what exactly was going on. Of course, she already had figured out most of it.

Jules, of my Jules. I adored how she was able to incorporate the Terran world with her own. She never expected to see March again, much less be able to be with him. She had two things in her heart…her planet and her love for March. She just never thought that she would be able to have both. I loved how Ms. Bristol brought their two worlds together and also, explained Jules’ culture and how the bonding is for the good of her planet. Ms. Bristol has a way of explaining her worlds without dumbing it down or reaching out so far that no one would understand it. She makes the story flow with her words and characters.

You really care about them and how everything is going play out. I felt so sorry for Naimo in the end. He didn’t deserve what happened in the end. And trust me when I tell you this…the ending is SO unexpected. Loved it. How it all played out is brilliant. I just wanted to slap Kur upside his head. How could he? And his father, too? Anyways….

Do yourself a favor and pick up this book and series. It’s brilliant!

3.5 stars.

This latest Cy-Ops book is the most romantic of the series by far. There’s very little action and the plot is more political than physical. Which is rather a departure from the other books and does mean that you can read it without having tried the rest. The main plot thus far in the series involved the terrorist planet, Lamis-Og, but they only receive minor mentions here. Because this book is all about March and Jules and the weight of an isolated world threatening to come between them.

Though different from the others in the series, I did enjoy it. I liked March, with his long search for the woman who left him and his strong love for Jules despite all the time apart. His cyborg abilities only get a few workouts, which is a shame because I do love these cyborgs, and I would have liked to have known a bit more about how he became a cyborg and what that really meant to him since it was so very different from the life he lived before, but on the whole I liked him.

Jules was okay. I appreciated her sense of duty and the way she tried for so long to do the best for her world and her people. Which did make her sudden shift into let the world burn seem a bit abrupt. She flip flops all over the place with her emotions – and while I could sort of understand it (her world being so repressed and all, and March being… not), it did make it difficult for me to like her at times. She’s too extreme with her all or nothing attitude, and it makes things a bit rough for March.

The romance does take up the majority of this book, and there were a few times when I wanted something else to happen, but I did really enjoy the political plot and Xenia as a whole. Sadly, most of the interesting stuff seems to happen behind the scenes, since Jules is worryingly uninvolved for a woman who is supposed to take over in a year, but I liked how certain things came together.

So overall this is another solid addition to this series. There’s more romance than before and less action, but the political machinations remain strong and it will be interesting to see how the events of this book fit in with the wider galactic affairs. I look forward to seeing where it all heads next.

ACCEPTING HER DUTY TO THE PEOPLE OF XENIA

Once again, Ms. Bristol has spun a tale that grabs the reader and holds them captive from beginning to the end. Her descriptions in this Sci-fi romance allow one to envision the sights, sounds, smells, along with the unique climate, colors, animals, and unique people that make up the solar system and planets. With an another amazing journey to be a voyeur on with March and Jules on the planet Xenia.

Marchland Fellows is from Terra, better known as Earth. He was an assistant professor and started dating and falling in love with an alien student, Jules, from Xenia. She had shared so much with him about the people, animals, colors, and facts about her planet, but she also left out some critical information. After Jules disappears, March is injured on an alien planet, rescued, and made into a cyborg. He is now stronger, has computer capabilities, able to regenerate when injured, and has worked with Carter at Cy-ops and with Dale Homme.

Princess Julietta was encouraged by her mother, who loved so much about Terran culture, to attend higher education at Terran Techincal Institute. She doesn’t disclose who she is, and because of how unique her name is, goes by Jules instead. Julietta will become the next empress of Xenia, and as she faces her future, knowing she and March are falling in love, she leaves him in the middle of the night and returns home to her family and her people. “To focus on what one cannot have doesn’t foster harmony or happiness.”

The plot is full of mystery, suspense, treason, murder, betrayal, secrets, deception, adventure, and new beginnings. The Xenians are pacifists, a closed and protected planet, and one that is ruled by centuries of traditions. For the bonding ceremony of Princess Julietta to her consort, they have allowed members from other planets to attend, including many of AOP dignitaries. There will be a mock Sha’A’la, where the consort and a ‘friendly’ foe will perform in an arena with swords, with blood drawn, but no death, it is purely a ceremonial rite. March is only on Xenia to deliver the newest spacecraft ordered by the Emperor for the Princess; now he is drawn into the ceremony and forced to take part in the Sha’A’la too.

By Xenia customs, a Seer has told who will marry, and her word is to be obeyed. What happens when the consort dies, the forced contender is called a murder, the Princess wants to abdicate, and more sinister plans are afloat? “As it was meant to be, so it must be. There is more than one path, but there is only one outcome. Detailed explanations must wait.” Said the Seer. How far will someone go to gain the power of the Empire? Two lovers, separated by duty, reunited by chance. “You allowed me to listen to the truth of my heart.” “It’s you. It’s always been you. You were my first, and you will be my last.” “The only thing that will separate us is death. I would die for you. I would make any sacrifice to save your life.” Are March and Jules star-crossed lovers or are they destined to change the future and find happiness in the end?

**Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book.**

Confession time: This book (number five) is the first I have read of the Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance series. However, it isn't my first Cara Bristol book. She actually recommended this series to me before, but I hadn't been able to fit it in until now. So glad I decided to read it!

March is a cyborg. Part man and part machine. He has abilities most men could never have while still maintaining his human self. He has searched the galaxy (no, really!) for the love he lost years ago when the girl slipped out of his bed and disappeared. Memories of their time together have plagued him for too long. When his job takes him to a new planet, he knows the chances are slim that he will find his Jules, but he is determined to try.

Julietta has run out of time. She left her studies and lover behind in order to return to her home planet and face her responsibilities as the next empress. Before she can take up the scepter she must be bonded to another. A man that she doesn't love and probably never will.

The years have passed, but Julietta still desires the man she fled. And when he somehow shows up a day before her bonding ceremony, she is convinced that this is fate giving them another chance. Unfortunately, tragedy occurs and her future with March is once seems impossible. If they want to be together, they must battle against scheming enemies and a long-standing tradition that prevents mating with alien beings.

This was a quick read for me. The setting was a creative new world with strange creatures and unique customs. The world-building in no way bogged down the story. It was pieces of info here and there as the plot progressed. There was plenty of time to get to know each of our main characters before the romance began, too.

And even though this is the fifth book of the series, I wasn't ever confused by the sci-fi elements or secondary characters. The story flowed smoothly and there were a few twists that I couldn't have predicted.

I thought the ending wrapped up well enough, but I do wish there had been an epilogue. I would have liked to see how the planet fared with the new diplomatic changes headed their way.

In closing...
First of the series for me but definitely not the last! Four cyborg suns!

I'm loving this Cyborg series. There is Sci-fi, romance, action and a good dose of humour which all mix into a wonderful story!

March has never really got over being dumped by Jules whilst they were students. She just vanished into the night..no call, no letter. He now has business of the sneaky kind on her home planet and he decides to try and look for her just to make sure that she is safe and well. But she does have the most common name on her planet! He is just to deliver a spacecraft as a bonding gift for the empress to be and then try and dig out some contacts to see if the AOP can get a base on the planet.

But when he realises that Jules is the aforementioned Empress-to-be he is shocked and thinks that she never really loved him in the first place, she knew that she had to return to her planet at some time for this bonding. Eventually he realises that all is not what it seems and there are major Machiavellian schemes going on behind the very pleasant, non emotional Xenian (Think Vulcan like) facade of the Emperor and his council.

There are weird bonding rituals, that March gets involved in and then further incidents occur that lead to poor March getting into a LOT of hot water! There are brilliantly comic moments during the talks between March and his fellow cyborgs. March is still an Alpha male but much different to the other Cyborgs we've seen so far. He is much more of a thinker and less of a "smash now ask questions later" type. Jules is so self sacrificing that she stands in her own way! If the Zenian Seer was any more vague she'd be as well not saying anything!

This is a quick, enjoyable read and fits nicely into a lunch hour for me. Looking forward to more.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I really enjoyed it. The characters have a history, and when Jules leaves unexpectedly, March will do anything to find her. March searches for years trying to find Jules and has just about given up when he's asked to deliver a ship for a royal bonding on the planet Xenia. When he gets to Xenia he is shocked to learn that the royal bonding taking place is between his Jules/Julietta and Naimo. During the pre-bonding events Naimo is killed and March is blamed.

March was set up but there's nothing he can do after he just found his Jules. Luckily fate was on his side!

The book moves pretty steadily and was very enjoyable, I look forward to the next book in the series!!

What happens when you pretend to be someone else and leave before anyone is the wiser. That is what Julietta or Jules did. Now it has come back to haunt her just as she is to be bonded and not to the man of her dreams. I think Jules and Marsh's story would be just a very nice romance if there had not been someone trying to take power and setting Marsh up to take the blame. There is a nice balance between romance and danger. I loved both Jules and Marsh. Both kept trying to do the right things and that kept the plot moving in several different directions. A great addition to the series. I received an ARC of Claimed by the Cyborg from the author in return for an honest review.

Claimedy

This story is one of those filled with action, cyborgs, mystery and a complex storyline that never seemed to let up. I found the action never seemed to stop, with twists and turns that kept me interested and ,figuratively, on the edge of my seat.
Character development was also a strong point in this story. The hero and heroine were strong characters, both willing to die in completing their mission, and in protecting each other. The unusual twist at the end of the story was a complete surprise. If you like adventure you will enjoy this book.
