In the second novel from bestselling author Milly Taiden’s Shifters Undercover series, two shifters must work together to unravel a gripping mystery while fighting their fierce passion…

Marika Paters has an energy coursing through her that others can’t explain. Maybe it’s the curious fox that lies within that gives Marika joy in her work as a geneticist for the only forensic laboratory for animals. But while her research unravels mysteries—like startling new data that threatens to dismantle everything science knows about shifters—Marika has always felt incomplete, just another lonely shifter looking for her mate.

Following a family tragedy, Fellowship Agent Devin Sonder believes he will never find love. But the panther inside knows his mate is out there somewhere—and he can’t give up. When the bodies of a senator and a mysterious dead wolf lead Devin to kind, playful Marika, he feels a powerful, magnetic attraction…even though their personalities clash.

With more dead wolves found, Marika makes a revolutionary discovery about the origin of the beasts. Together with Devin, she races to find out who could be creating shifters—and why. But can the fierce alpha panther and the fiery, driven fox put their carnal desire aside to hunt down the mastermind before more shifters die?

After reading and loving Bunny and the Bear I really wanted to love this book. The title was attention grabbing and the cover fit the blurb so perfectly. What I love the way Milly Taiden writes her shifter characters so well. The h, Marika is a fox shifter, an exuberant, hyper, always-happy, smiles as bright as the sun, fun loving fur ball. I loved her character! Her panther mate, Devin was a cute guy, he was on the more serious side but he complimented his h and he was such a sweetie when it came to Marika.

What made me disconnect with the story was the subplot. The mad scientist/villain POV plus Marika and Devin's separate but connected investigations sometimes gave me an overload of information that slowed the pace of the story for me. It felt like too much going on in a short amount of time.

I would suggest reading this series in order, I did have to play catch up and piece together parts that happened in the previous book and this definitely ended in a cliffhanger.

A must read, especially if you read Bearly in Control!!! Questions are answered and new questions are asked, the fellowship is one step closer to solving the mysteries that encompassed the first book. We also learn who Barry really is and why certain things are happening and what they mean. Devin is a slightly OCD panther shifter who has had a lot of loss and heartache in his life. Joining the fellowship is a new start and his way of moving on. When they get brought in on a high profile murder, one of the dead culprits is a shifter that defies description. They bring in Marika, Charli's best friend and a very well known forensic specialists who specializes in shifter genetics. Mari is an incredibly high energy, highly intelligent and not even close to OCD, fox shifter, but they do say opposites attract. Mari and Devin turn out to be fated mates and Devin is so afraid he will lose her too that Mari has a fight on her hands, literally, to show Devin she can more then take care of herself. I loved how this book answered most the questions left over from the first book and at the same time created new questions to set the groundwork for the next book. I can't wait to be able to read Russell and Tama's story while seeing how the story will progress, keep them coming!!!

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I was hoping I might. For a story about shifters, there was very little shifting in the book. I wanted to see the characters' animal side just as much as their human side but they only came out for a tiny portion of the story. I was a bit disappointed by that.

If you are looking for a standalone, I would not suggest reading this book. This is the second book in a series that has an overall storyline that spans across more than just one book.

I sooooo need more! after reading Bearly in Control I had so many questions. needless to say this book answered them but now has me going what's next? with born shifters, multi-shifters, and made shifters you never know what to expect next.
I have to say I love Marika. with her organized chaos, energizer fox, and literal kick #$$ personality she is a great character. can't forget her mate Devin either with his everything in its place and his he can't get over. Together they make the best opposites attract relationship or should I say balance each other out lol.

This book was great. It had everything I love in a Milly Taiden book, love, comedy, sexy times, a bit of action, you just can't go wrong. I will say if you haven't read Bearly in Control yet read it before this book or you will be lost as to what's going on.

If you love this author, then you will love this book
Paranormal Romance lovers need to read this (but make sure you read book one!)
More info is received in this book that might have left you wondering in book one.
Plus we get lots of Devin, the panther shifter. And we learn more about Marika, the lady at the FAWS lab.
Our detectives really have their work cut out for them in this book. Plus more, lots more than what they thought.
I am eagerly waiting for book 3, because I need answers!!!

Very Intriguing, Sexy, Dangerous, Action Packed, Thrilling Mystery of a Opposites Attract Paranormal Romance. The excitement and danger draw you into this world where few know about shifters and are fighting to protect the world.

Devin Sonder is so broody and sad (with good reason) he is in need of so many things in life it is crazy to think one little fox can change things for him in such a profound way. Marika Paters is bubbly and sweet as well as wicked smart and exactly the shifter Devin needs to heal his wounded heart. These two are so realistic and relatable you find yourself drawn in to their journey and rooting for their HEA. Overall a very entertaining read that I did not want to put down. Looking forward to the next adventure in this world.

Fur fox's sake is a very well put together story that I enjoyed reading. Devin and Marika' s story was so intriguing that I look forward to the next book in this series. To get to know these character's you must read Bearly In control to follow along with this story. The characters had so much chemistry together that their personalities was outstanding.

Over all Mrs. Taiden had done such a great job with this second book in the series that I am not hooked on a new series.

Opposites attract

Once again the author has intrigued me with the characters in this series. With each book more of their personalities, and what makes them tick emerge. The danger level really intensifies in this book and the author lets it build and build until we get to the unexpectedly abrupt ending. The author did give us a HEA for Devin and Mari, but the overreaching storyline is far from over. I really hope the author brings us the next book soon. I don’t know if I can stand the suspense.

Milly Taiden is such a wonderful writer I soak up all her books and still look for more.
So you read Bearly in Control and had questions? Now you can read Fur Fox’s Sake and get some answers.

Barry!! yeah nope not saying a word you have to read it (smile) soo we have some slightly damaged Panther hurt and loss filled his life but to move on he surrounds himself with others.

All they need in the mix is a case that everyone and their mama is watching especially those people in high places. Can they fill the heat in having to solve it?

Oh oh we have a total clean freak to the crazy science type, yeah just imagine. More so as Devin and Mari are up close and personal the old age question starts popping up?

You know be it real world or book world sometimes our males just love to worry. Devin is no different. Mari will definitely have her work cut out changing the stubborn panther’s mind.

A fun story that answered questions and gave more questions (smiles) hot yumminess and hot scenes. In the middle of a mystery!! Bring on book 3!

I love books of this genre - the premise of the storyline looked just what i was
looking for to pass a lazy afternoon .
I would suggest reading the previous book in the series to set the characters and worldbuilding in place .

Marika and Devon are opposites - neat freak meets free spirit , with a messy side - but once they realise
they are mates sparks fly .
This book is filled with shifters , both born natural and lab born , along with aliens and possibly vampires and zombies - which always make for an entertaining story - when it doesn't get too crowded .
There is danger and suspense but also a lighter side too - where will they story take us ?

But I hate books that leaves the reader with a cliff hanger - URGH!!!!

M/F Shifter Romance
Warning: Unfinished ending - not quite a cliff hanger, but close
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

I would suggest reading book 1 as you will need to know who the characters are from that one because they are in this one as well.

OK, this book was kind of all over the place for me. While I really liked the story, I sometimes had a hard time following what was going on. We have the main couple, Devin and Marika. They are the couple that find each other in this story. However, we are still watching Charli and Barry too and their stories are intertwined.

Devin had kind of given up on finding his mate. However, when he comes to a crime scene, with his extra abilities, he knows that he'll have to get the help from the shifter unit and also knows that they will need the help of Fish and Wildlife since there was a mangled shifter body found at the scene.

The "science" in this story is funny, but developed. There are explanations as to how the shifters who aren't born that way develop and it's almost convincing. You are also introduced more to Klamin, the bad guy. He's interesting and intriguing.

Then you have the mystery of Charli's Barry. When he figures out what and who he was previously, before the amnesia, Barry goes running. It devastates Charli and we see their struggle to figure out whether or not they can overcome.

I really do like that this book left us wondering, but I think that more could have been resolved and revealed. It seems that either the next book will have to have so much information in it - right now, there are 2 different story lines that need to be resolved. However, I can't wait to see what the resolution is.

I really liked the plot especially since it was something new and different. I did not read the first book so there were some things that I felt a little lost on. I loved that the h was a Super sexy Fox ninja, and that she was intelligent. I also liked that while Devin was neat freak and Mari wasn't her was still able to appreciate her system and realize there would be changes made. I'm interested to see what happens with Barry/Perry and with Russell/ Tama. Definitely a continuing series with a HFN.

This was an enjoyable story but it ends in a cliffhanger and I wasn't very happy about that.

Marika is s squirrel shifter that is a doctor in genetics. She is very hyper due to her inner squirrel and tends to be messy in a rather organized and controlled way.

Devin is a panther shifter that works for the Fellowship, an undercover group of shifters that investigate unusual crimes. Devin is rather damaged due to the loss of his sister and nephew. He fears loving again because loving and losing someone is just too painful. He also seems a bit on the OCD side.

The story starts with the death of a Senator that Devin comes across while taking his morning jog. He finds out that it was a shifter attack and under the purview of the Fellowship. One of the creatures that attacked the Senator was killed and the body is sent to a special lab that Marika works at doing genetic research. This brings Marika and Devin together and they recognize each other as mates and accept it with very little strife. The only real drama is a couple of minor freak outs by Devin where he questions the mating because of his fears. I did like that Marika wasn't willing to put up with any of his bull and smacked him around (in a nice way) when when he questioned them. Although Marika and Devin do cement their mating before the end of the story, they're not safe at the end and the story ends in a total cliffhanger so I can't even say they're at a HFN state.

This was an enjoyable story. I liked Marika and thought her spunk was cute...even if I questioned her "ninja skills" that were apparently learned mostly from kung fu movies. Devin was a good hero but I didn't understand his idea to reject his mate to avoid future hurt...it just didn't make sense because (from the way it sounds like mates work in this world) leaving her would have broken him anyways. I liked he interactions between them but the story was a bit short and with the investigation and all, I didn't get as much of the interaction between MCs as I would have liked. Overall, this was a decent story but I am annoyed it ended in a major cliffy and at this point, I'm unsure if I'll continue the series...

* note - I listened to the audio version of the story and the narrator did a good job.

This was a hot mess of a book and I skimmed the end just so I could see if anything was resolved - I had hopes for a scientist heroine and an investigator hero, but if I want smart shifter-detective romance, I'll go back and re-read Lauren Esker's excellent series.

Shifters of all sorts, secret government plots, ancient aliens (?!?!?), fated mates, political scheming, etc ... I never could figure out if shifters are "out" in this world or not, and I don't particularly care as I won't be reading more in this series. There were too many characters to keep track of (the couple in the previous book, the set up for the next couple that took up too much page time, the villain who gets POV, the rest of the pseudo-military team), and the "romance" between hero and heroine took all of an afternoon! See each other on video call, go "oooh, I bet that's my mate" meet briefly, invite to lunch with parents (!) then go home to bang it out. That's the worst case of insta-lust I've ever read! I'm not going to call it insta-love because THE BOOK ENDS ON A CLIFFHANGER and while sure, our H and h had time for more sexing in a prison cell (and can we talk about the abrupt transition from "oh hey we're kidnapped" to "but we're along so let's get it on"??) Talk about sexual whiplash!

Fox shifter Marika Paters works as a geneticist in the only forensic laboratory for animals. She might find great scientific facts but without a mate, she has always felt incomplete. Fellowship Agent and panther shifter Devin Sonder believes after a family tragedy that he will never find love even though the panther inside him insists that there is a mate out there for him. When he goes to Marika'a lab after the death of a senator and a mysterious dead wolf whilst their personalities clash he feels a powerful magnetism to her. With even more dead wolves found, Marika makes a major discovery about their origin and so they both work together to try and find out who is creating shifters. Can the fierce panther and the fiery fox put their carnal desire to the side to hunt down the mastermind before even more shifters die?

This was an enjoyable second instalment in the shifters undercover series. I liked that they were mates even though it took a little while for Devin to fully comprehend that and also that Marika was so dominant and confident in both herself and her abilities. It was nice as the story progressed to see them working and thinking of them both as more of a unit and definitely together. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

The first book in this series was intriguing. Not the best SPN romance, but decent. This one went downhill - really kinda a hot mess. The leads were less likable and the plot was chaotic. Rounding up to 2 stars - didn't outright dislike it, had a few moments of potential, but certainly not one to recommend.

The science here is completely whack-a-doo. I realize I'm complaining about scientific accuracy in a paranormal romance, but really!! The blood cell nonsense??? Basic Google research shows you that animal (well, mammalian) and human blood cells are almost indistinguishable under a basic microscope (like what Marika is using). Even forensic techs run DNA and protein analyses on blood samples from crime scenes to ensure that they are analyzing human blood. And this isn't fancy obscure science! Heck, watch CSI - the field techs regularly send samples to DNA which get kicked over to Trace because the blood's not human but animal. Why? Because they could not tell without running more detailed tests!! It would have been absolutely impossible to see what Marika was describing - the animal and human proteins in the different blood samples. Aside from the fact that what she's describing is inaccurate (the whole "half and half smooshed together" thing), it would've been impossible to tell using the equipment she had.

And then the paranormal side was crazy too! Aliens! Alien research (that's legible and translated from 1000 years ago!) has apparently been driving shifter evolution And then to ice the cake, we suddenly have plant shifters popping up at the end here?? WT actual F?

Another inaccuracy driving me bananas. Fish & Wildlife is a real government department. It's not a company (like Marika keeps referring to it). You might refer to it as 'the office' but you wouldn't call it 'the company.' More importantly, it has an actual acronym and it's not FAWS. Fish and Wildlife is abbreviated FWS. If you're going to use an actual government department existing in the real world, use its real acronym. Again, easily findable in a basic Google search.

I liked Devin and Marika in the first book. Maybe because we weren't in their heads then, they were actually enjoyable, and you got hints that their story could be an opposites-attract romance with two intelligent, driven people. Such a let-down. Here, they drive me up the wall. Yes, they are still intelligent people (although Marika was also a bit hyper and annoying now that we have her narration), but they turned into complete idiots totally focused on sex at the cost of all else. How is that an entertaining character to read? Insta-lust to truly idiotic levels.

The writing was all over the place too. Maybe it was having such a chaotic main character (Marika) as a lead narrator, but sentences were choppy, idioms didn't make sense ("nip that shit in the ass"?), trains of thought were erratic... Plus there was so much information - murder, conspiracy, political scheming, crackpot science, aliens. It was a mess.

The attitude about family and children was irritating. Maybe because I was already a little fed up with the characters at that point, but Marika's screechingly insistent biological clock was truly annoying. Then we have Russel's glib dismissal that "what woman doesn't want kids?" (um, this one!). Even Devin had his moments, with his advice that Russel should just give her kids whether he wants them or not. Because that is the foundation for a healthy relationship, right? One parent truly not wanting kids, but doing it anyway, and their kid gets to grow up knowing that 'daddy didn't really want me'? Devin added to it with expectations that "she would adapt" her mess to his OCD neatness. They've known each other for 2 days, but he's expecting her to give, not them to compromise. Overall, there were lots of those moments of very traditional family roles and expectations and so forth, and I totally recognize that I'm a minority and can usually roll with this attitude, but here it was just pushy and irritating.

Once again (just like in Bearly in Control), Russel's shift felt like it took forever. It wasn't quite as pun-filled, but it still felt like a really long chapter of him running about in smaller form being chased by a cat. Again.

The Barry/Perry naming irked me. He was given the name Barry in book 1 because he had amnesia, so they had to call him something, and, well, he's a bear. Then here in book 2, it turns out that his real name is Perry! The similarity (especially considering both names aren't particularly common) was beyond ridiculous. Making me think more and more that Milkan is Kliman. The names are too similar, and with the author already using this lazy naming "clue" plot device, it totally would not surprise me.

Cliffhangers. The first book in the series was obviously the first book in a series, but as the same time, the cliffs weren't quite so pronounced. Definitely a trilogy you HAVE to read in order.

Rotating 3rd person POV - mostly Marika and Devin, but also side characters, Russel, the villain... No cheating, OW/OM drama, or love triangle nonsense, so that's all plus. However, there was choppy writing, erratic pacing, poor research, unbelievable science, unbelievable paranormal science, and lead characters who became absolutely idiotically hormonally stupid. And yes, again, cliffhangers. Not even an HFN.

Would I read more in this series? I really don't know. I like Russel, but it looks like the next book might circle on family and procreation as their conflict (wanting kids or not). Judging by the attitudes here, it might be more frustrating for me than enjoyable. Might not be worth it, even to finish out the series.

Good read.

I enjoy the characters and the overall plot. The only thing I would have liked to change is the ending. I know it is meant to imply there is another book coming/ but it was too nebulous in my humble opinion.
That being said, the concept and characters are enthralling and very imaginative. I am thoroughly entertained by the situations in which the individual characters and couples find themselves. The quirky and fascinating traits they have are both hilarious and in some heartbreaking. I hope the next book brings Tama and Russel's story into the light, and firms up the other couples stories as well.
Yes, I know life is never that cut and dry, and literature should be based on life. But I dislike cliffhangers, especially when they leave the story in such a unresolved way. Again this is only my opinion, and only in regards to a very small part of the series.

FUR FOX'S SAKE by Milly Taiden. Marika and Devin, our lovely couple in this tale, could not be two different people. He's a neat freak and she's a free spirit and just a bit on the messy side. I truly enjoyed when they discover they are mates and how they face it. The plot kept me interested too. It was interesting and intriguing the "scientific" method of becoming a shifter. Ms. Taiden writes that part well that almost had me believing it's real! :) I would recommend reading book one as it certainly can help clarify a few things. If you enjoy paranormal shifter stories that have some danger/suspense, but are on the lighter side too, this one is for you. Ms. Taiden had me smiling and successfully created a feel good story that made me want more. On that note, this tale is a standalone but it does leave the story plot unfinished, not Marika and Devin but the story as a whole. (received ARC for honest review)

"Incredibly Breathtaking and Wildly Exciting"
I have deeply loved the books I have read by Milly Taiden, and this series has quickly become my favorite by this fantastic author. She writes a wonderfully compelling storyline that is so deliciously complex and stunningly heartfelt. I lost myself in its strong yet seductive grip. The characters are beautifully fierce, and I found my heart shredded at the real problems that they all face. Taiden makes you feel everything, and that realization blew me away the first time I read one of her stories. Now it attracts me like a bear to honey. I don't want to read a book if I can't feel every person, every decision, and the atmosphere that permeates throughout the treasured pages of a precious masterpiece. This is the creme de le creme of paranormal stories, and you will be missing out on pure perfection if you pass this book up!

I recieved a copy in exchange for a review. This is a supernatural romance. The main characters can shift into animals. A senator is murdered and a shifter agent is sent to investigate. During the course of his investigation he meets his mate. This is the second in a series and the first book should be read first since it continues into the second (and I am assuming the third since a lot of things are unresolved at the end of the story). I went back and read the first one after this one so I understood that part of the story better. The book ends on a cliffhanger which is something I don't like. Not everything needs to be resolved in a series of books but I did not like how this really left you hanging at the end. I enjoyed the story, it was fun and easy to read which is why I gave it such a high rating.

Omg!

I have so many emotions! First I need to address the whole Barry and Charli situation like NOOOO he needs to come back!

Devin and Mari omg freaking amazing I loved everything about them and understanding them a little bit more from the first book

Russell and Tama dam let me just say it’s getting to some serious stuff russle found out.

I love how it’s not just about Devin and Mari I mean they’re the focus of the story but MILLY TAIDEN always does a wonderful job she kept true to the mystery of the story yet putting the pieces together for everyone I hope there’s more I can’t be left with this huge cliffhanger

I was hoping that this series would get better, but it has had a very strange twist. There are shifters, which I truly love a good shifter book. However, this book is just lacking the true emotional feel that I have gotten from other books. I did start with the first book in this series and was left lacking, but I wanted to give this series another shot. I am still disappointed. Mostly because there are interesting characters, but no real emotional ties to each. Then things when from strange to alien and I really felt that was a turn off.

Good book

When another murder occurs, this time killing a Senator and a man-made wolf shifter, more questions arise.

But when Barry's tracked down and his amnesia is reversed, he runs from Charli, devastating her. He's ashamed of everything he's been forced to do for the past 5 years. Now he vows to correct the wrongs he's been apart of.

Meanwhile, Devin finally meets his mate, Mari, Charli's best friend who's a scientist. Russ needs to win over the grumpy detective who's his own mate, but he's clueless as to how.

A must read!

I bought this book because the blurb sounded like it would be a nice fantasy of human/animal shape shifters. However, it was full of filthy language and I found it to be so unpleasant that I gave it up half way through, especially when I found out that it was the second in a trilogy. I don't usually write a review for a book that I didn't finish, but this was so bad, I thought it would be better to give my opinion.

Ok but I’m still unclear on some things.

This one was harder for me to finish than the first one. It was good but still kinda confusing. I feel like more world building is necessary to understand the shifters, how mating works and the differences between Born & made shifters. I feel like the series just drops you in their world without further explanation.
Plus the books end on weird cliffhangers.

Brilliant Series

Fur Fox Sake (Shifters Undercover Book 2) by Milly Taiden. Devin and Marika are mates. Clues about what is happening start to come together but the whole picture is still evading them. When Devin and Marika are kidnapped they complete the mating so they will always be able to find each other. Barry (Perry) returns to Charli but says he has something to do before he can be with her all the time.

Devin and Marika

Devin is a detective. Devin is also a panther shifter. Marika is a scientist. Marika is also a fox shifter. They are both mated to each other. With help with friends and co workers they are looking for the one that is making inhuman shifters with special techniques. This was a great read. This book is also full of surprise, action, mystery all mixed in.

Nobody writes like Milly!

Love this book, and I love the series. Can't wait till the next one as the story gets more and more involved, and we find ourselves with so many unanswered questions. Lots of passion, action, witty dialogue, and just plain laughs. Nobody writes paranormal romance like Milly Taiden. Little wonder her work has swarmed so many worlds. Highly recommended.
