Thanksgiving was always Kayla's favorite holiday – until her husband decided to leave her on the very day they should have been celebrating being together as a family. Two years later, the pain still isn't gone, and while her family does their best to set her up, she's perfectly happy raising her three children on her own.
When Andrew admits he's never really been in to Thanksgiving, his good friend Josh invites him to come to his family dinner. Andrew wasn't expecting to be welcomed with such open arms, and he especially didn't expect to meet Josh's beautiful sister Kayla.
While Kayla and Andrew hit it off immediately, Kayla still can't bring herself to admit that she might be falling for someone new. Can Andrew prove that he'll treat her right, or will she push away the man willing to heal her broken heart?
Jaclyn is an Idaho farm girl who grew up loving to read. She developed a love for writing as a senior in high school, when her dad jokingly said she was the next Dr. Seuss (not even close, but very sweet). She met her husband, Steve, at BYU, and they have six happy, crazy children who encourage her to keep writing. After owning a bookstore and running away to have adventures in Australia, they settled back down in their home in Utah. Jaclyn now spends her days herding her kids to various activities and trying to remember what she was supposed to do next. She has published six books in a year, and her mind is still reeling from the awesomeness. Her books include Ring of Truth; A Christmas Worth Billions; The Princess and the Prom Queen; Magicians of the Deep; the Luck series--Stolen Luck, Twist of Luck, Best of Luck, More Than Just Luck, No Such Luck, and Just My Luck, a novella; and Endless.
Cute second chance at love book - I love both Thanksgiving & Christmas so this was a fun read, wish I would have read it more in the season, instead of it warming up to near 90 today...
Moral Note: Nothing objectionable comes to mind...
I first read this series about 7 or 8 months ago, and decided to reread it. I must admit that I liked this one more the 1st time I read it. It's good story as long as you don't give it too much thought.
Andrew is a great guy - he's a gentleman, compassionate, and noble pretty much to a fault. And while it makes him a very likeable hero who's easy to root for, it also ends up making him look like too easy a mark.
SPOILERS AHEAD Andrew was likeable but maybe a little too passive. On the one hand, he should have insisted on rescheduling the interview so that Josh could be there, but people acting like the reporter's malice was his fault & responsibility seemed unreasonable - the worst he was guilty of was naive judgment, and he was as much a victim as his friends, getting undeserved hate, too, so Kayla telling him she believed him but he had to fix it, when he'd just told her he'd tried all he could think of & been unsuccessful, was crappy. She could have at least helped him brainstorm possible solutions.
The motivations provided for the news reporter's bizarrely aggressive slander were just too weak - she didn't even actually, openly hit on him till she was walking away - and where was her editor? Was she working for the National Enquirer?
Andrew should have sought legal counsel. Silver Script probably could have, if not should have, provided it. I was surprised that Debra or David didn't get involved in the situation since it involved their employees & had hit the news - and David had plenty of experience with aggressive reporters.
Andrew's sacrifice for Josh was incredibly generous - esp since Josh knew him better than Kayla, knew the reporter was squirrelly, & yet still didn't hesitate to believe the worst about him instead of helping him - and I don't get why Josh didn't make a more serious effort to contact Andrew as soon as he understood what Andrew had done for him.
I found myself wondering this time if Kayla & Josh deserved Andrew's friendship.
Finally, the ending was rushed and fairytale pat. So I still liked the story, but it was harder to overlook its flaws this time.
Silver Script Series: Silver Script Set Books 1 – 7: Interesting. Heartwarming. Fun to read. Perfect with a cuppa. All the stories involve employees of the Silver Script, an advertising agency, with a gamut of friends and clients. The TOC needs editing: book titles are missing, but the links work correctly.
Ring of Truth #1 – I love this book! Ms. Hardy always writes a heartwarming story that keeps the reader captivated. There’s a romance in the works, suspense and plenty of humor. An innocent romance without the Hollywood life garbage that’s forced on us daily. The characters are lovable, with plenty of personality. The well thought out story line is interesting and there’s no stupidity formula common in books of this genre. Perfect for a relaxing time with a cuppa. 5*
A Christmas Worth Billions #2 - Heartwarming. A wonderful story about extremes appearance wise but with the same heart and values on the inside. Not all the characters were great, but I enjoyed this little jewel. 5*
Fashioned for Love #3 - Starts with New Year's Eve and it's Debra's turn to find romance. Sad with some of the events, but heartwarming just the same. One of my favorites in this series, but I didn't care that the feminism is too strong. It's a business dinner, not a date and she's mad because he pays, business, duh. This is after he held the door and her chair for her. Then women wonder why men have no respect for them anymore; but "modern" women don't have respect for themselves, anyway. It was hard to put down, but luckily, the story was fast paced. 5*
Change in Harmony #4 - I had a problem with this story. There was too much drama from the main female character and the story became, for me, difficult to get through. But the story ended well for all involved. Worth reading. 4*
Another Chance for Love #5 - Another fun to read, heartwarming story. The story just flowed through the pages and the characters were likable, lovable and interesting. 5*
Love in Return #6 - What a dear story. Heartwarming and fun to read, this story just flew by. The characters were sweet, funny and very lovable. Another one of my favorites in this series. 5*
Waves of Hope #7 - Interesting quick but long distance romance. There's anxiety that has the main female character easily broken down, but the main character, once he understands, is very supportive and loving. Heartwarming story. 5* Silver Script Series end.

Kayla and Andrew meet through his brother, start to date, and then break-up because of something printed about Andrew's dealing with her brother.
The characters, including the slightly quirky family, were all wonderful until “the misunderstanding.” They eventually came around, but it could have been less heartbreaking if they'd acted like adults.
Still, I enjoyed this story, just not as much as the others in the series.
I enjoyed the clean romance but this book ended too abruptly for my taste. I felt emotionally whiplashed. Spiller**** they were fighting and then made up in advertisement and newspaper article and then he shows up on her doorstep and proposes. I was like what?! It was ok until that moment. Nope. I don't believe if at all!
This book was a fantastic book. The story is great & well written. Andrew & Kayla kept your interest In the story until the end. It is all about family caring about each other.one point in the story is to trust each other. Great story & highly recommend.
I enjoyed the story focused on Thanksgiving. I see lots of Christmas books and Valentine's books, but Thanksgiving is often only an introduction to stories that are really about Christmas. The characters were likable and the story heartwarming.
