Marie Foster is not a cheater. Nevertheless, she gets thrown out of college for doing just that. With her life turned upside down, she decides to try new things. You know…Get drunk in a bar. Pick up a guy. Marry a stranger, who just happens to be a hot billionaire.
The Five Wishes Series: Five hot and hilarious novellas about wishes that go terribly wrong…fortunately. Five Wishes...A happy ending is just a coin toss away. Each novella is approximately 100 pages with NO cliffhanger.
Elise Sax worked as a journalist for fifteen years, mostly in Paris, France. She took a detour from journalism and became a private investigator before trying her hand at writing fiction. She lives in Southern California with her two sons. An Affair to Dismember is her first novel.

Story Review: This series is really entertaining, especially with this narrator. Our main characters meet at a bar. Marie is the good girl slash science nerd who gets accused of plagiarism. She decides she is no longer playing by the rules and gets drunk in a bar. Next thing she knows, she’s marrying a billionaire. This is another funny and cute story by Elise Sax that will make you laugh. Its a great, short book for in between dramas.
Marie has been tossed out on her ear after being accused of plagiarizing her dissertation. The only thing to do now is get drunk. That leads to a one night stand that leads to oh so much more in a marriage-of-convenience kind of way. I’m sure Jared didn’t know exactly what he was getting himself into with Marie but their story is hot and spicy, short and sweet and so freaking cute. Lots of laugh out loud moments!
The title is apt. A short fairy tale about a sexy rich 'prince' (nowadays it is a businessman) that met, have sex and fell in love with a sweet damsel in distress. It sounds almost "bleh" but, at first, it was quite funny. Then it was just sex and predictable "obstacles and misunderstandings".
Hot Wired is a witty sexy romance that leaves you wanting more! Marie is cute and quirky and Jarrod is sweet and hot.. great read, Elise Sax has another hit!
This is the third novella in the Wish Upon A Stud series and I am not sick of it yet. Perhaps I don't get the opportunity to tire of the series because each instalment is so short and about different characters. What I do know is that they are seriously funny in a messed up kind of way. Books will often make me smile but rarely do they make me laugh out loud and these books do. Sax has a way with coming up with seriously dysfunctional characters that are so awkward and relationship challenged that you can't help but route for them when you aren't laughing at the outrageous things they say and do. I loved Maria from the very first sentence. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series and checking out some other work by this author.
This might have been favorite book in the series so far! I'm a sucker for smart girls who constantly second guess themselves or get themselves into trouble. Marie has had some issues and has found herself in a bar, where she decides to step outside herself, drink and ends up picking up a man.
Unfortunately, or fortunately for her, the one-night stand she thought she had turns out to be a bit more than she expected. This book made me laugh out loud and I actually got sad and worried that the people I wanted to end up together weren't going to! But of course Elise pulled through and made a wonderful ending :)
I can't wait to see what she has in store next for us!
I do love this series by Elise Sax. The reader meets Marie as she walks into a bar to get drunk for the first time. Her entire life is over, as she has always known it. She decides to create a new life for herself by doing things she has never done before. Boy, she does it in a big way by picking up a sexy billionaire in the bar. Thanks, Elise, for a fun sexy romp that just continues to keep my interest in this new series.
I really enjoyed this installment in the series. These are VERY short books. But I felt character development in this one was pretty decent. Maybe because we met Marie in book two, I'm not sure if that's why. But this one flowed well, you had a full little story. The banter was cute, the story was cute.
Marie, scientist extraordinaire has tunnel vision with everything but science. Until Jarrod makes a deal with her and changes her life. Just like the others in the series this is a standalone. Wonderful dry humor and sexy math talk makes this another great short read. Received a copy for review.
Laugh out loud funny! Elise has another hit. Hot sex with a hot rich guy, everything a woman wants! I really can't wait to read the rest of this series!
Marie's just been accused of cheating and thrown out of her doctorate program. What else can she do but turn to a life opposite of everything else she's known? She goes to her first bar and manages to down 1/2 of a tequila shot before getting dance on the bar and flirt with a stranger drunk. Luckily, the stranger turns out to be Jared, a hunky billionaire who needs to get married fast. What starts as a hookup turns to a marriage of convenience and then to something more.
Is it possible to smile for 2 hours straight? Marie's inner dialogue is hilarious! I'll never look at a Big Mac the same way again. Elise Sax has the ability to make me laugh on just about every page without the humor being forced. True talent.
The relationship between Jared and Marie went from cute and charming, to hot and steamy, to sweet and considerate. I loved how Jared just rolled with Marie's quirkiness and never made her feel silly. I wished we could spend more time with his awesome grandparents and her father, but the little scenes they did have were like chocolate chips in cookie dough, they just made everything sweeter.
Angie Hickman was absolutely perfect as Marie, her voice just fit Marie's personality so well. She didn't attempt a male voice for Jared, just used a normal speaking voice, so nothing sounded forced. Her timing on the humor was impeccable. I was provided a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. This is my third Elise Sax book and I'm still in love with her writing, I can't wait for Layla's story!
This is the third book in the series but it can be listened to as a standalone, there are no spoilers for the first two books.
I’ve been enjoying this series a lot, each book is fun to listen to and the characters are really likeable. This book is no exception, the thoughts of Marie are so funny to listen to, she’s such a unique and interesting character. The chemistry between Marie and Jared is immediate and strong, the relationship develops very quickly, possibly too quickly, but they’re very sweet together. Throw in a few twists for good measure and you’ve got a book that captured my interest and left me unwilling to stop listening until I reached the end.
I’d re-listen to all the books in this series, and I’m looking forward to the fourth book.
The narration is perfect for the book, it’s bright and fun, I loved the character voices and the pacing was perfect for the book.
This book was supplied free by the author/narrator/publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.
This book was so cute!!!!! It was funny and very sexy!!! I Loved the characters.... I love the storyline.... I Just absolutely 100% enjoyed every moment of reading it!!!! The banter was great... Marie was a real hoot the way she just said what she was thinking!!!! I guarantee you will laugh and turn the pages fast to see what happens next if you buy this book! I highly recommend it!!! 😊
3,5* Marie is... Something How someone can be so intelligent and stupid at the same time? I know it was what made this book funny but I kinda felt sorry for her. She acted like I do when I'm drunk, except she kept that cluelessness for the entire book. Anyway, I did think it was funny. I just couldn't understand the female lead.
Hot Wired (Five Wishes #3) was a great read by Elise Sax. Marie Foster is not a cheater but finds herself thrown out of college for cheating. She decides to try new things, like getting drunk in a bar and picking up a guy. She finds herself marrying a stranger who just so happens to be a hot billionaire. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
Another REALLY CUTE book by this Excellent Author!
This book was Really, Really Cute! I'm not a fan of the ending, but I'm hoping the ending is actually a part of the rest of the Series. One the other hand, I REALLY, REALLY Hope the good ending, the better ending, is right close by.
This story really made me laugh and brightened my day. Poor Marie and her scatterbrained innocence. Just hearing Angie narrate this awesome story really made my day. I don't know of more to say than this is funny and all together too funny of a read to ever pass it up.
Audiobook Absolutely loved it, if you're after a short funny read you can't go wrong. This narrator is one of my favourites, her timing for Rom-Coms is brilliant
A graduate student and a billionnaire CEO turn a one night stand into a whole lot more. Another sweet, steamy and genuinely funny love story you won't be able to put down. I loved this one.
