Anna Barnes is surely becoming a name I highly trust and recommend. Her books are the kind of self help books I didn't know I needed to read. The words, style and illustrations are lovely.
It read nicely. Enjoyable in itself, but it was fairly self-explanatory. Nothing really stuck with me. However, while reading you are more aware of it, which is good for your mood.
I bought this on sale and I'm so glad I didn't pay full price.
This is full of quotes and tips designed to help you "find your happy". There isn't really anything that you haven't heard before - get plenty of sleep, eat well, have friends, have goals, have a pet etc.
There was one sentence that really upset me though - it basically said "forget your problems by helping others" wtf? At that point I got a little bit angry. Help others - because you want to help others, because the simple act of being there for someone else is the aim - you shouldn't do it with the aim of escaping your own problems.
Some of the artwork was very nice - but some was awful.
I read in it in less than a hour and have no inclination to read it again. I found my happy when I put it in a bag to go to a charity shop.
Throughout the book there is beautiful photographs and vibrant artwork with quotes, tips, and activities to create a happier life. Struggling with anxiety at the moment, I really needed to read this book. It was a nice way to bring me back to the present moments and the small joys of life. A lot of the quotes resonated with me so much, it was kind of scary how fitting it was to my life right now. Will deffo be flicking through again and again in the future, if I ever need a little bit of motivation, inspiration, excitement for life, or healing.
Nicely-illustrated book, with some useful tips, but nothing I haven't come across before. Mostly affirmations/positive sayings plus quotes from various authors. Some duplication of quotes/tips across this & the Confident, Mindful & Calm titles in the series, especially on the diet/excercise sections.
I read the how to be confident book by Anna Barnes first. Some parts of the book were repeated and since I read them both with two days I skipped out pages from this one as I had already read them in her other book.
I loved the inspirational quotes throughout the book and the focus on looking after yourself and your wellbeing.
Read this is one sitting, thanks to its aesthetically pleasing pictures and short paragraphs it was read in about 35 minutes. Its a nice pick me up, good reminders for making better choices to make every day a little bit better which overall should improve our moods.
There were chunks of text in this literally copy and pasted from a book she published a few months before this one - word for word the same. Also saying near the beginning of the book that you can combat depression by remembering that happiness is a choice isn’t exactly ideal.
What's lovely book^^ It can make you think & live in happy way. "The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it" - Thích Nhất Hạnh
Un hermoso libro con consejos que ya son sabidos por todos, pero que está bueno tenerlos plasmados en un libro ilustrado de manera bella ♥ ¡Definitivamente se va a mi mesita ratona frente al sillón!
This book is OK. It is a quick read, has nice quotes and beautiful images. The content is not something that we don’t already know, so it doesn’t really make you happy. 🙄
Beautiful designs for a quick pick-me-up. I like how you can read in one go and you can go back anytime you want without feeling overwhelmed. It's straight to the point.
