This review is in no way meant to disrespect any of the warriors mentioned in this book.
This book is written like a novel using descriptive phrases ad nauseam. For example: Clips jacked in, zero dark thirty, Gulls, He gave everyone a nickname writing “Whom I nicknamed” or “I called” so & so, this or that. Described everyone's firearms and how they carried them “Strapped to his thigh”, etc.
A third of the book was paragraphs describing each person he met, what their weapons were, how they carried them, where they carried them, the material of holsters!
Also everything near the end was spewed “Fuckin’ or “Fuckin-a”
Damn, I'm really on a roll here. This is something like the third book in the past month that was only worth two stars. It takes balls to put a cover blurb with a comparison to Ernest Hemingway at the top of your book's front cover; if all it took to be a good writer was balls, Mike Tucker would be great. Unfortunately, he is simply a third-rate Hemingway rip-off. It takes real talent to make a combat narrative boring, but that is precisely what Mr. Tucker does throughout this book. I probably would have liked this when I was 10 or 12 years old, but then, I used to enjoy reading Don Pendleton in those days...
My husband is in this book.... he did not do a very good job accurately portraying him as well as some of the other men...uncreative nicknames, bleh...
