Part One: Be a Parent with BoundariesIt's notable that the first part is devoted to the parent working on themselves. This is a critical part of boundaries, since you have to understand inside yourself before you can set up boundaries outside of yourself. It's especially important given how often the author reminds the reader that their teenagers will dislike their parents at times (and if not, then the parents are doing something wrong!). If you don't have a strong sense of your own self and your emotions, then a teen's rebellion is going to strike you too personally. There's also useful advice for parenting with a partner, without a partner, and as stepparents.
Part Two: Understand the Teenage World
Part Three: Set Boundaries with Your Teen
Part Four: Address Common Problems
