Disaster at Roosevelt Ranch

Rate this book
Kelly
I slept with the wrong twin.
And all I got for it in return was a broken heart.
Oh yeah, and a baby on the way—there’s that too.
But I’m determined to make it on my own. I don’t need a man, thank you very much. Not rich, charismatic, and decidedly flighty Rex Roosevelt, and especially not his twin brother, Justin.
No matter that the gorgeous former military doctor makes my heart beat a little faster . . . and all spots lower than that pay careful, careful attention.
None of that matters. The Roosevelt men are dangerous and I’m steering clear.
The trouble is, Justin refuses to leave me be.
And deep down, I don’t want to avoid him.
Deep down, I want to be even closer.

Not really a story. More like an outline for a story with a few little things thrown in. Rather rushed, obvious, and boring. meh..🫤

3.5 cute stars

A really funny, and cute and heartwarming tale of finding love. I would have liked for there to be more character development, but barring that, it was a great book.

This book follows the story of Kelly after she had been dumped by her ex-boyfriend because he was the biggest asshole in the world. When she finds out that she was pregnant things take a turn for the proverbial "worse" because she's not only broke, but she does not want to work as a waitress with a child on the way. That is when she runs into Justin-

aka the good twin.

Justin has spent his entire life making up for and cleaning after his twin's- Rex's- mistakes. But when he meets Kelly, instead of her being just another nuance for him to clean up, he falls for her, and they pretty much ride off into the sunset (after they get over all those trust issues).

Like I said, the story is really kind of cute, the diction is humorous and the love story is on point. What I felt lacking was the character development. It was said that Justin had trust issues, my question is why? It is never explained in the book. Also, he clearly admits to himself that he loves Kelly, and knows that she is not like Rex's other exes, then why was that whole cheque scene so important? I wanted to smack him on his head for that one, because that was really stupid one. And Kelly, in my opinion forgave him very very easily. Just my opinion though.

But all in all a great book that you could definitely cuddle up to to spend a few hours.

A cute little comfort read, albeit not a very memorable one.
It was too insta-lusty and insta-lovey-dovey for my liking, and I didn't find either main character particularly intriguing, but it certainly works as an entertaining and warming read on a cold winter day.

Justin and Rex Roosevelt may be twin brothers but you couldn’t find two more different men. Sure, they are both handsome looking guys but that is where the similarities end. Rex is arrogant and self centred. Justin is more level headed and sensible.

Kelly is staring down at the results of her positive pregnancy test wondering what the hell she is going to do and wondering how Rex will take the news that he is going to be a dad. Unfortunately for her though, he has left town and has no plans to return soon.

Once Justin meets Kelly and finds out the state his brother left her in, he is determined to do make sure she is looked after. It’s the least he can do after his brother left her high and dry. Besides he can really do with her help at the ranch with the horses and he enjoys her company.

A lovely friendship forms between them and before too long feelings begin to take shape too. Kelly wishes it was Justin who she had made a baby with, it would makes things a lot simpler. Her hormones are out of control and seeing him every day, looking all kinds of hot and sexy is not helping at all!

All of Kelly's past experiences with men have not been good ones. Justin is like breath of fresh air. He is sweet, caring and genuinely interested in getting to know her. She has never felt so cared for her in her life.

After years of being away, serving as a doctor in the military, Justin never expected to come back and find a woman like Kelly, someone who he is beginning to grow strong feelings for but not just her though, the unborn baby as well. However, he thinks that she deserves better, someone who isn't broken inside, like he thinks he is.

Not the most conventional relationship situation but somehow it just feels right. Maybe these two can finally find their happiness and happy ever after in each other?

“Everyone has baggage,” I said. “But that doesn’t mean you have to let it define you.”

A quick and easy pick-me-up! Included a surprise pregnancy, a set of twins, friendship and romance. There's also a bit of angst and flawed characters that certainly could have used a little less insta-everything! The setting is small town Utah with wealthy ranch owners.

The book hints at a love triangle, but it's really not - so if this is a warning sign for readers, proceed anyway and you'll find no worries. You'll find more of a second chance at romance with the right one on the second go-around. The book blurb does a good job of describing what you can expect.

My biggest complaint is that the story lacked depth. It could have been much more with a little extra effort. All in all, if you like small town romance, rich guys who find their one and only with the small town girl who is just getting by, then this one might be a match.

This is the first book I have read by this author and it will not be the last. This is a good thing as this book is the first in this series.

Justin and Kelly made a perfect match together. Although, I knew nothing about Justin's twin, Rex and the guy who knocked Kelly up; I knew enough about him that I did not like him at all. Justin showed that not all twins are alike. He was so sweet and caring towards Kelly. In addition, he brought out the confidence in Kelly as well. I could feel the chemistry building between them. When, they finally hooked up, they did not disappoint. I has such an enjoyable time reading this book and getting to know Justin and Kelly.

Justin likes to make sure his lady has plenty of options, "I usually grabbed a yogurt or a few handfuls of cereal. Justin, however, had decided to butcher the entire farm. Sausage. Bacon. Ham. Eggs. Cheese. Potatoes. Toast." I totally agree with Kelly ice cream is important, “my ice cream!” I cried out. It was probably all melted. The man beneath me burst into laughter, so hard that the chair creaked ominously." I liked this book, Justin was so sweet I loved him.

Read and Reviewed on behalf of 2 Girls Who Love Books.

The blurb of this one caught my attention! Sleeping with the wrong twin, broken heart, baby on the way. What an amazing set up for what's to come on Roosevelt Ranch. This was my first read by this author and I doubt it’ll be my last. This HEA romance has twists, angst, mental dilemmas and stigmas to conquer before reaching its HEA. The chemistry and sexual tension between Kelly and Justin is electric. They are powerless against it and it made for an amazing book where the reader can sit back and just enjoy where the story takes them. Their super steamy and sometimes comical couplings will put a smile on your face and send sings to your core. Kisses that lift you off your feet are always amazing, and stolen kisses are even more amazing.

The plot may be a difficult for some to handle but may open your eyes to the fact that just because things are complicated and unconventional, doesn’t make them impossible. The selfless actions and sacrifices that the characters learn along the way so very true. I was so happy to see how this story played out. It hit home for me as I know first hand that being a biological parent in no way defines whether you are a parent or how much you can love a baby. Sometimes, a baby is yours because you choose to make it yours and no biology can change that.

Justin and Kelly have both had tragedy and turmoil during their childhood but both have survived.
Now the walls they have erected to protect their hearts are steadfast and it is going to take the love and caring of family and friends to help them realize that love doesn’t have to hurt, it can strengthen and make the world a much happier place. I particularly loved the small town feel of this book and the almost magical interference of Esther, the local ‘older’ woman, with her sights set on helping Justin and Kelly find their way. Her threats were amazing and brought laughter and comedy to the story as well. It is true that small town USA, small town anywhere actually, can be tough on your privacy since news spreads like wildfire. But interference by well-intending residents can make all the difference in awakening our minds to the lessons of life and teaching us not to dwell on the hard ones, learn from them and move forward.

Disaster at Roosevelt Ranch is mostly Kelly’s POV but we also get glimpses of Justin’s. Justin makes some mistakes, makes some wrong choices and assumptions, but this is all part of the love story and how he redeems himself makes all the angst worth it. In one breath, Justin will have your head in the clouds dreaming of amazing kisses in hay-scented barn and in the next, you may want to strangle him. The anticipation that the author creates surrounding these two sets off fireworks when we wait no more. Justin and Kelly really do have a perfect love that is just waiting for them to discover. Kelly is a strong female character, ready to face the world alone. She doesn’t cave easily and it is doubtful whether she believes she can even find the love of her life. She makes for an excellent challenge for Justin while they both try to come to grips with how their touch sends zaps of electricity to their core each and every time.

This is book one in the Series so get started today on a Ranch style HEA romance that won’t make your heart bleed, but will still warm it and make you believe in fate, destiny, and selfless sacrifice. Perhaps I took a little more from this book then others might since I have lived some portions of it. I wish I had found a totally sexy and available doctor on a horse ranch, but alas, that’s what books are for. I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys a romance that makes you smile but a book that also contains some real-life situations to be contended with. A book that makes you question what you would do, or could do, in the same situation.

I believe this is Elise's best work to date! This is a Contemporary Romance with humor, some steam, twins, and a baby! I laughed, cried and wanted to throw my kindle across the room at times. I believe this book was well executed as far as the hero and heroine was concerned.

I love how Elise dug her heals in and wrote all of the characters. Kelly (Heroine) is a great independent woman who just happens to be with the wrong person at the wrong time. How many of us can relate? Justin (Hero) is a strong former military man who comes in to save a ranch and falls for someone he didn't intend to, his brother's ex. What a DISASTER... Then the family drama with the brother shows up and all hell breaks loose..go get this book to find out who Kelly decides is right for her or if she chooses someone!

Again Elise out did herself! Great job! I believe I will re-read this book over and over again! Can not wait for another book from Elise!

Audio Review: Disaster at Roosevelt Ranch (Roosevelt Ranch, #1) by Elise Faber (Author), Keira Stevens (Narrator)

I was drawn to Justin and Kelly, oddly enough because I happened to stumble upon Justin's twin brother Rex's story first. There was a history there and I wanted to know just what it was. Faber didn't disappoint. Disaster at Roosevelt Ranch turned out to be a heartbreaker. Kelly lost her heart to one twin and found her forever with the other. Mr. Wrong turned out to be the best decision she ever made. Justin and Kelly endear themselves to your heart with a back story that is not always beautiful, but a romance that is oh so sweet. Narrator, Keira Stevens wraps herself around each word she utters and takes control of emotions in the most subtle of ways.

What can I say. Else Faber has done it again! She proves with each new series of books that she can write great stories in any genre!

This book brings us Kelly who isn't sure what she is going to do when she finds herself in a difficult situation. Then she meets Justin. He's a man who is searching for something that even he doesn't know he needs. He's tired of always cleaning up after his twin brother, Rex. This time, Rex has really done it.

Henry and Kelly have been friends for as long as either of them can remember. Kelly loves Henry like a brother. Henry loves Kelly too.

This story is amazing!

This was a pretty meh romance for me. I think I found the practically identical twin brother thing creepy. I don't mind the falling in love with another sibling thing nearly as creepy, but they are identical. SO WEIRD.

Great Story & Narration🎧 Captivating & Heartfelt!

Disaster at Roosevelt Ranch
By: Elise Faber
Narrated by: Keira Stevens

I enjoyed this book immensely, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. Elise Faber is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, the story and characters she created are realistic and easy to relate to. I adored the two lead characters Kelly Hamilton and Justin Roosevelt, some of the secondary characters were great too. Kelly loves horses and worked on a ranch, when the ranch got sold she stayed on and wound up getting involved with the new owner, Rex Roosevelt, who turns out to be a total jerk. He winds up firing her and then leaves the ranch. Rex’s brother Justin always cleaned up his twin brother’s messes, he heads to the ranch to see what kind of mess he left. Stopping in the dinner in town he runs into Kelly, who asks where Rex is and then blurts out that she is pregnant. So Justin has a lot more to clean up than the ranch. Even though Kelly was fired from her job at the ranch she continued to go there to work with the horses. Justin is unsure of her, thinking she may be after Rex for his money, but the more he sees of her the more he realizes she is not about that at all. She comforts and grounds him but she is carrying her brothers child so that makes her off limits. Kelly thinks the same but she realizes that her feelings for Rex was nothing compared to what she feels for Justin. The chemistry between them is undeniable and they could only deny themselves for so long. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is nicely plotted with plenty of drama, a touch of angst, lots of heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. Elise Faber thank you for the great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the audio, Keira Stevens is a fabulous narrator and versatile voice artist. She performs the voices for all the characters, covers both the male and female roles with perfection, giving each their own unique sound which makes it easy to follow along and know who is who. She sets the perfect tone for the story and you could hear how much heart she puts into her work as she captures the character’s emotions and projects them into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

This was OK. I could’ve taken or left it at any point. It’s probably 2.5 stars for me, but I decided to round up, since it’s not awful. Just gave me the blahs.

The male lead was boring as shit. It was basically like ladies what do we wish for? OK, let’s make him a rich doctor who flies in his own plane and who comes to the middle of nowhere to play a mild version of a cowboy on the ranch his brother is destroying, and he’ll always say and do everything exactly right to the point of it being kind of irritating, because he just has absolutely no debth or flaws or character intricacy.

If you like those kind of daydreams, where you read about perfection (poor little knocked up woman living in poverty rescued by big perfect wealthy man), this might be for you. Instead, if you like a little bit more depth, challenge, complexity, and realism in your characters (and humans), then this is just kind of boring. There’s not much happening here of interest, but it’s not terrible. There’s some vague surface level drama, but it’s really not that interesting.

I will confess, POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT, I don’t understand pursuing the woman your TWIN brother knocked up. That, in my opinion, makes him a pretty shitty family member, even if his brother is a hot mess. But neither of them even really pause for a moment to really consider that. And of course every physical moment together is perfection (meh).

This book just lacks interest, intrigue, humor, and real issues. Sure, there’s some telling about dramatic backstory, but what actually happens in present time in this story is all pretty uneventful. I almost quit several times, just because any time I stopped reading, I had no real strong urge to go back. The one thing that kept me going back for the first 3/4 of the book was wanting to see the other twin come into the story to see if that would stir things up in an interesting way.

3/3⭐️

I read this a long time ago on another app, and I rememeber it being better. But I have read thousands of books since then and well....

First things first. The author switches between firat and third person perspectives. Mostly when being told from Justin's POV. It can get really confusing sometimes. The story felt pretty disjointed and didn't flow very well. Very jumpy.

Kelly- I have no clue how long she had worked at the ranch. No idea how long she and Rex had dated. I don't know why Rex fired her from the ranch. I would have liked a lot more backround on her and Rex's history.
•Why did Henry propose to her? Just because they are friends and she's pregnant? Eww.
•Why did Henry write her mother a check?
•What is Kelly's last name? Henry called her mom Mrs. Harrison but later Kelly was called Kelly Hamilton. So I went with Hamilton
Also, waiting until the last couple of chapters to find out she dropped out of college because her mother stole her money....

Justin- I don't feel like we got to know him at all. Other than the fact he's a doctor and he served. I didn't feel his connection to Kelly other than what I can only describe as Insta-lust.

Rex- I find it hard to believe thay he had nothing to say about the fact that Kelly was pregnant. Not really anyway. In the end he signed over his rights but... really? No thoughts whatsoever?

The Roosevelt Ranch- Rex bought it on a whim basically. It's supposed to be a dude ranch type of thing, but there was no mention of anything happening there. And is it now Justin and Kelly's ranch or is it more of a family business?

Maybe we will get more answers in future Roosevelt Ranch books.

In love with this ranch people ❤️

I knew eight when I started this book that I was gonna devour this the fastest and knew I had an amazing read at hand and yes I was absolutely right.
Justin and Kelly have made me fall in love with them and the ranch life especially the horses. Even though Kelly has done a major mistake only because she has no one to turn too and is lonely. How will she take care and go on in life when she has a baby on the way. But she is determined to stand on her own two feet. Justin is always used to cleaning up his brother's messes. But this one might just take the cake. What he didn't anticipate was the sweet girl who was a hard worker and lit him up inside would also make him feel things and question his entire perspective in life especially since his past had made me always take a step back where feelings were concerned.
Stormy nights, crazy sibling, one loving and the other not so, amazing friends and the absolute delight of small towns.
Also that freaking maddening epilogue.. OH MY.... I need to read book 2 asap of Melissa and Rob's book. As both of them are to me the ideal couple so that epilogue has me excited for their story and scared with that ending at the same time. Loved loved this one. ❤️❤️❤️

Title: Disaster at the Roosevelt Ranch
Author: Elise Faber
Format: Audio
Narrator: Keira Stevens
Genre: Romance - Accidental bably
Standalone: yes
Part of a Series: Book 1 in the Roosevelt Ranch series
POV: Kelly and Justin
Steam Level: Slow Burn to steamy
4/5

Disaster at the Roosevelt Ranch was fun listen. The angst was a good amount, not too much but enough to demonstrate both Kelly and Justin's emotions about Kelly being pregnant with Justin's twin Rex's baby. I liked how it was resolved and I would have loved an extended epilogue. Hopefully we'll see more of Justin and Kelly's HEA in future books in this series.

I received this audiobook for free from Audiobook Obsession. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Good Read

Loved the strong intensity between the main characters andnthe eccentric Esther! She was a hoot! I wish the conflict was a little longer in how they w poo I'd be worked through it because it seemed they fell in love too quickly and the antagonists gave in and started behaving as if this Major thing did not happen to change all of their lives. The money offered was astronomically too high and unrealistic. The issues between Justin and his dad and brother were w r tapped up too quickly. The resolution felt rushed and I would be liked to have seen the characters work that out a little more realistically. The love scenes were awesome! Great job! Overall, this was a good read despite the above criticisms. Looking forward to reading Melissa and Rob's story.

3,5 stars for Kelly and Justin

When Justin arrives at Roosevelt Ranch his twin brother Rex just starts his exit. Justin has to take care of what remains. The ranch, the people and horses and pregnant Kelly, who just seems to be his dream come true.

When Kelly opens up to another Roosevelt, a Rollercoaster of emotions starts for her.

This story was a lit of my favorite tropes and it had special moments that got my tears and swoons. I loved Kelly's love for horses, was very touched by the background stories of Kelly and Justin. But Rex didn't feel real, what made the relationship between the two brothers and the father and Justin hard to feel. I still left emotional touched and very curious about more couples in town.

Diaster at Roosevelt Ranch is one hot read. I mean how can you not love surprise pregancy and the wrong twin. This was sooo good. I love Kelly and Justin. The sparks between them will light your kindle on fire. Justin is Rex's twin. Justin is the more stable of the two and always steps in to clean up after Rex. But Kelly is one mess Justin doesn't seem to mind cleaning up after. I love how Justin just doesn't care that she was with Rex. Justin is amazing with the ways he fights for Kelly. This is just the start to this series and I'm already hooked. I can't wait for more of this small town living and the drama that follows.

Maybe not a disaster but definitely a minefield!

Roosevelt Ranch is definitely on my to visit list. The scenery and horses seem like a dream come true...or maybe it's the young, incredibly sexy former military doctor. Yeah, totally the scenery!

This sweet story about not being able to help who you fall for could be a cautionary tale except it has a happy ending. (Again see hot, sexy former military doctor!)

A disaster has been averted but it looks like one on the horizon. That epilogue didn't leave any warm fuzzies but it did leave anger and doubt! Heartbreak is definitely pending!

Too insta~everything for me...

This book was way too insta~everything for me, this book was good in it's on rite, however everything was insta... insta love, insta fight, insta make up... it played on the wanna be dramatic side, but with all the insta flowing through the pages, it couldn't hit the mark... now saying that it was good writing, took me a while to finish it, but only because I could have so much cheese with my wine in one day ( insert joke) happy reading :)

Disaster at Roosevelt Ranch

This book was so good! I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. Kelly is pregnant but Rex just up and left. Kelly is such a strong person but has fears that she keeps hidden until Justin helps her with them. Justin is tired of cleaning up his brother's messes. When he sees Kelly, he wants her. These two together are explosive. They have so much chemistry. I look forward to reading about Melissa next.
