I love to read shapeshifter themes, they fascinate me, and I firmly believe that Ms. Langlais is one, if not the best, at this theme. However, I have to admit I have a love/hate relationship with her books; some of them have let me very unsatisfied.
Becoming Dragon really surprised me. I thought that this new series being a spin-off of Bitten Point series (which I didn't enjoy much), wouldn't be enjoyable. But the story caught me since the first chapter, and I can't explain how much I laughed and savored every moment; I didn't want it to end.
Becoming Dragon is the story of Brandon Mercer, the brother of Wes Mercer (Gator's Challenge, Bitten Point) with whom their uncle was experimenting. After all the madness in that last book, Brandon managed to escape; nevertheless, he felt responsible for his other sister, who was also retained by their uncle, Theodore Parker.
After all the experiments done to him by Theodore's hands at Bittech, Brad thought of himself as a monster, and that if he couldn't live either with humans or shifters, the only goal left for him was to save his little sister. That's until a particular young lady landed on the same roof as him saying that he was a dragon and deciding that he was going to be hers.
Aimi Sillvergrace is the descendant of a family of silver dragons. Because the dragon's species is nearly extinct, and that almost every offspring in this silver lineage is female, Aimi is intended to marry before her 28th birthday or otherwise she will be artificially inseminated with a random dragon donator. However, this is something that she doesn't want; she doesn't even aspire to have a marriage for love, but she would do better to get out of her mother's house. And then she meets Brad, a random night on a roof and bam.
I don't know how to describe Aimi; she is sassy, beautiful, stubborn, with a big, big ego. I laughed so much with her, she definitely is on my top 5 of favorite female characters. I enjoyed her character more than Brandon's, she was so full of life, while he was so full of debuts, and together made the perfect couple.
Except for some time while reading Brandon's point of view, there wasn't a single aspect that I didn't love this book. It had the perfect amount of sexual content, a lot of fun scenes, a sweet romance, good writing, everything. I am so excited to see how this series will progress, can't wait for the next book.
