He wants to return to Preor and she wants a job, but you don't always get what you want.
Lana Cooper is down to her last hundred dollars, has no job, and her clunker of a car has finally clunked out. How has her life become such a cluster of horribleness? Oh, right. A guy. Only she doesn't get a chance to beg for a job. Nope, one walk along the beach changes everything. Oh, she has a job now... as the mate to a hot, hunky Preor dragon male.
Taulan sen Pavon is anxious to return to his home on Preor. Yes, he'd journeyed to Earth in hopes of finding a human mate, but now... Now he would like to heal in the privacy of his aerie. Wings destroyed and body damaged by an explosion, he has no desire to watch others find joy with their mates while he remains unworthy and alone on a ship filled with thousands. But then he finds Lana. Lana with her alluring smile, sparkling eyes, luscious body, and whose mere presence initiates the Knowing.
Can he live long enough to claim her? Can she see past her father's prejudice to love him? Both questions are pointless because there are still Preor who despise the joining of humans and dragons. They will stop at nothing to drive a wedge between the races. Including murder.

***2.5 I need a Hero Stars***

I didn't care for the hero. And it wasn't because he was a wingless dragon, cause I'm a sucker for a scarred hero. The heroine kept getting attacked and injured under his care....Epic fail Dude!! I need a bad ass hero.

There's nothing wrong with this one, per se, I just didn't care for it either way, don't hate it, don't particularly like it. Maybe it was Taulan and Lana, I didn't like them enough to get invested. But mostly I think it's because this book takes it self a bit to seriously, it's not until the very end that Taulan starts to get a tiny bit of a sense of humor. Whatever it was, I'll give the series another go, but I can only hope it gets better.

I really enjoy sci fi romance and the idea of dragons has me jumping for joy. So this story about Taulan hideously wounded finding out he has a mate should hit all my boxes . Now add in the fact that it all starts with a terrible misunderstanding as Lana is accused of trying to kidnap a Ujal child and it just adds to the fun. Lana may have secrets but she really isn't in a sharing mood as it's much better that some believe her dead . Yet what she can't ignore is Taulan. He offers her a home with him away from Earth but unfortunately Taulan isn't as honest as he could be and his new promotion comes with consequences !
This story may be a sexy romp but it has dark undertones and the author pulls no punches. Our heroine has escaped an abusive relationship and what she has suffered sent shivers down my spine. Yet Lana doesn't shy away from the possibility of a new life with Taulan, yes she is cautious but bravely prepared to give this alien world a go.
Now I know I said I was excited about the dragon aspect but it's played down here. Why? Well Taulan was injured irrevocably in battle protecting others and I can't help but think of other veterans who suffer the loss of limbs. Taulan is readying himself for his final flight and yet finds the strength to somehow go on. He tentatively holds on to hope and as the story progresses Taulan truly finds purpose and a reason for living.
So yes it's a romance and there are sexy times but of course with this author it's the battle of the sexes that makes the reader smile . Lana may not be kick ass but she is certainly no shrinking violet and she is much stronger than she gives herself credit for. Taulan was so fiercely protective but with a mate ignoring the' knowing' just what is he supposed to do? It was fun reading about them working it all out and I love the supporting characters . Perhaps not as much shifting as I'd hoped for but the essential message behind this story meant that it didn't matter. Life goes on and with this author in charge it's a glorious and loving journey
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review

Muuuuch better than the last one! The heroine had an actual brain in her head I loved it. I love when a story makes women look good, smart, brave and kind vs ridiculous, childish, stupid and mean.

"Strong independent woman" doesn't mean stone cold bitch or unreasonable moron in real life so why do authors always fuck that up in books? I'm always happy when a story does better.

Was this book perfect? No. It was a little cheesy at times but I enjoyed it so that's what I think matters.

This series would be better if she spent more time on not only main character but supporting characters development AND gave us more details on how things work. Like.. do the human mates live as long as the Preor? Those guys can live what? 1,000 years? More? I dunno, she never says either way. Maybe this is something she goes into further or realizes we'd like to know and gets into more in her future books? I hope so, if I didn't like the book I wouldn't give a damn though so yeah. Onto book 3!

Sexy dragon without wings

It is a little sad to know that Taulan is a dragon without wings and will never be able to fly. That is the one thing that I was sad about by this book. Other than that I thought this book was pretty good and interesting as it further explains the people of Preor.

I was quite amused! Sex scenes still squick. Also, instead of InstaLove (tm!) there was InsaGettingOverPTSD, I know it's a weird quibble, but Lana was too well-adjusted. XD Also, there was a big plot red herring that I would prefer to be sustainably harvested.

Yeah this was a hot mess for me. My whiplash has whiplash as everything went by at the speed of light. Time is spent showcasing both the hero and heroines past and their reluctance to ever have a spouse/mate. I get that there is a mate bond between them but I could not get over the sudden understanding or ‘Knowing’ at least on the heroines part. Scenes felt forced and random moments of action danger just did not work. A lot is also done behind the scenes and it really created a disconnect for me and the book. The book was a real quick read but it was just too much. Too much unnecessary drama squeezed in and too much character and story building left out and skipped over.

This was an enjoyable Science Fiction Romance with a dragon shifter hero and a down on her luck heroine.

The hero has lost his wings and needs to regain his sense of self. I like how in this book something that matters so much to hero matters so little to the heroine showing the relativeness of how we sometimes defined ourselves outside of our essence.

The romance is lovely and the world building decent. A light fast read.

Never gave up

Taulan has been horribly disfigured without his wings after the uprising on the Peor ship in the previous story. I love that he doesn't give up. He was tempted for sure, but he didn't, which is good because he meets his mate, Lana. Lana has been running from a horrible man and is trying to get a job with the Urjals. I love how strong Lana is and how she accepts Taulin.

This was an easily predictable sci-fi alien romance but I still enjoyed it for the most part. It made for a pleasant, light read. I'm glad it was offered as a kindleunlimited.

Taulan is book two in the Dragons of Preor series by Celia Kyle. I do love to read about dragons. They are my favorite type of creature to explore.

This was an enjoyable Sci-Fi Romance with a dragon shifter, Taulan and a down on her luck heroine, Lana.

I liked that Lana showed her mate Taulan that even though he doesn't have wings he is still sexy and worthy of a mate. The changes that Lana goes through from being an abused women to one with confidences was nice to see. The romance is lovely and the world building is decent. It’s a light fast quick read.

The only thing that bothered me was the flow at the beginning. We end one chapter with Taulan going to fight and open the next with him and his mate in a cell then the next chapter them out. I felt like we need more. More depth, development, or something.

Though Taulan was not an in depth read, it still was enjoyable.

Here's Hoping The Second Time Is The Charm

I've already written a review for this book and I was told to resubmit again. I don't know what was wrong with it for the first time but here is review #2. Taulan is an excellent story. He's a warrior that lost his wings in battle (he lost them fighting his own people). Taulan comes from a warrior race that considers any injury a sign of weakness ( it's in the book). He needs to show them as all as to himself that he is not weak and has earned the rank of war master.
The preors are on earth for one reason. A chance to save a dying race from extinction. For a chance to find love and happiness. Like in real life there are those that don't want the preors to mate with humans. Taulan and Lana fight for their right to be together and for their happy ending. If you want to read a book that has love, sci-fi, action and humor then this is the book to read and there's nothing wrong with that.

During the battle that takes place in Jarek, Taulan was severely injured, and he lost his wings.  Being a dragon shifter this is a huge deal, and Taulan has lost his sense of self and is ready to return home.
Lana is running from a very abusive man and is down to her last dime living in her car.

She has a job interview with the Ujal and its there on the beach that circumstance collide her with Taulan.  Lana is what Taulan needed, and even though she is too stubborn to admit it, Taulan is what Lana needed.

This story is full of heartache and pain, and the characters each suffered horribly.  But that is what made them stronger.  The steamy sex and action is also a big plus, but I enjoyed the relationship that Lana and Taulan had.  I am giving Taulan 4 Boundless stars

I really enjoyed Taulan's and Lana's story.
Now, if the author could just change her way of writing sex scenes, I'd be happy. I don't mind blunt speech, but absolutely dislike crude. One doesn't need crude words to write a passionate and hot sex scene.
I recommend this story if you like sci-fi romance, combined with the mate-mine troupe from shifter books and can overlook (or skip) the sex scenes.

I didn’t review this book the first time I read it, and gave it one less star. I think it might have had something to do with my mood the first time I read it because it definitely deserves full 4 stars and a review, I loved the challenge
both the characters have to go through. Their journey made the story better, though I do think the h needed a little more healing time considering her past. That is probably why I gave it one less star back in 2017, but it’s fiction and enjoyable.

Love love love this series. Can't wait for the next book. I want to read more by this author also. Dragon shifter aliens and mermaids. What could be better? Oh well now if there were vampires and werewolves that would make it better. Lmao.

Entertaining quick read

This is an entertaining book about alien dragonshifters and finding their mate. This is a somewhat different mating than other shifter books. It is a quick read , but a good one.

I love authors "voice",the way she forms her sentences, how she tells the story. I love that her characters are with faults, like self doubt, self esteem problems and just enough strong will to go on.The story itself was not too bad either and I give allowance cause it is a short story, not mutch place to build the story properly.

Overall, it's sweet, easy to read novel.Don't expect anything epic and you will not be disappointed.

Another decent read

This one was a little better then the first...my complaint about the first book was the lack of sexy time but in this one we didn't have to wait as long to get to the good stuff. I absolutely adored Lana she may have been a victim of abuse but that did not stop her from going after what she wanted and in this case that was the War Master Taulan it was very refreshing I can't stand those sci-fi romance novels where the Heroine's all I want you, no I don't want you, blah, blah, blah.....that gets very old so having Lana pretty much pull Taulan out of his funk and claim him was very nice! Also I just wanted to make a note in my review for the first book I commented that felt like I was missing something well turns out I was their is a whole series to the Ujal Aliens that's where we meet Tevon and the other Mermen so don't make the mistake I made and start with Jarek I would suggest you start with book 1 of the Ujal but then again if Mermen aren't your cup of tea you can start with Jarek it hasn't bothered me any you just have to catch up on a few names is all. So if you have KU I would recommend checking this one out, I say that because I'm not really sure I would have paid $3.99 for this...its very well written but it's just not one of those kind of books I would keep forever and want to revisit often you know what I mean? So anyways happy reading everyone!

So, it's like this. Three days ago I was browsing books on the Audible romance package. I'm so very picky about books when I'm in a mood. So, I was so happy when I read that this first book had a super possessive alpha male in it. I downloaded the book and started listening to it while I was cleaning.

That was three days ago.

I'm binge listened to the first three books but then I just wanted to read the rest myself. Also, the narrators to these books are freaking amazing. AMAZING!!!

Anyway, once I started I couldn't stop. I am so in love with this series. So, 10 books. 3 days. 2 kids. 1 needy male of my own. I don't know how I did, but I finished all 10 books in three days. I was up late and awake early. Normally, after each book I leave a review. But, I didn't want to wait for the next story. So, I will be posting this review to every book.

Said simply... Amazing story, fantastic characters and the world building is...well...out of this world. I just say that there is a 5 book series on the Ujals. I'll be there if you need me.

My favorite series I've read so far this year...

My love for physically damaged heroes is strong with this book. Heck, Taulan also has some emotional damage as he works through losing his wings. The guy's kinda a wreck, to be honest. Losing his wings did a number on him and he's ready to throw in the towel.

Then he meets Lana and his whole world tilts. Or rights itself. Whichever. He sees her and, BOOM, he has himself a mate. It doesn't matter that he's not a "whole" dragon, she's the one for him and he's it for her.

Buuuut, Lana has her own set of baggage. Pretty hefty baggage, too. She, too, has her scars and they're just as painful as Taulan's.

Dragons, mating, spaceships, fights to the death, and a world of knowledge at their fingertips. I'm liking this series. A LOT.

The second great book in this series

Taulan is the Primary Warrior of the third fleet, second only to the War Master Jarek joi Melissa (the first book in the series). However now he doesn't feel like that when his wings have been stolen in battle.

Lana is a strong woman with a sad past that she's trying to get away from. She is at the UST when she meets Taulan for the first time.

Can Taulan overcome his handicap and protect his mate??

This is the second book in the series and it's awesome!! I love the continual story in the background of the Preor, the Ujal and the humans of Earth. I can't wait to read the next and am so happy to be able to read these from KU.

P.S. Don't you just love hot aliens with wings and scales?? Because I know I definitely do.

Taulan

This series of dragons differ from others I've read. I may not be understanding the law for dragons mating female earthlings because it seems so far in the series, the law is ignored. It's a small matter in context, but for some reason it irks me. Why have or mention the law if the dragons "Knowing" supersedes? Other than , the story is entertaining. I really enjoyed the battles.

Another excellent instalment of the Dragon's of Preon. I loved reading this one. A terrific read. If you enjoy reading sci-fi paranormal romance with dragon's etc then a series well worth reading. I would however recommend reading them in order to really appreciate the story.

Overall Rating:★★★★ ½
Performance (Mandy): ★★★★★
Performance (Todd): ★★★★★
Storyline: ★★★★ ½

Narrator: Mandy Lane, Todd Mrozek
Audiobook Length: 4hr 53m
Release Date: 03-06-2017
Type: Unabridged

Narrator Review (Mandy):

Every time I listen to Mandy I swear I’m transported into whatever kinky world she’s created for me. In this case, she’s the victim of a dragon hottie. Yaaasss. Well, “victim.” Hur hur.

Mandy brings a contemporary vibe to sci-fi romance. Why can’t I stop listening to her?!! She’s this delicious poison I can’t get enough of. I’m not usually this engulfed in female narrations. Where did this woman come from?!

Let’s talk about the basics. Mandy has a killer voice. Period. I mean, she could speak Gibberish for all I care. I am obsessed with her tone. Not too deep, not too high. Mandy radiates balance between quality and performance.

Speaking of performance, Mandy is my go-to narrator this month. I am just blown away by her versatility. You’d think I’d eventually run out of things to say about her…yeah…no. She’s flawless, her timing is perfect, her children and male interpretations are unreal, I can’t help but visualize myself braiding her hair while she reads to me, and did I mention her ability to narrate children?

AND! On top of all that, let’s talk technique. Her flow in chapter 4 is the same as chapter 10. Gah I love this. She attacks her articulation, her cadence is parallel to none and I’m going to stop blabbering because I have another Mandy Lane audiobook to listen to. K bye.

Narrator Review (Todd):

This has to be my favorite performance by Todd. How on earth does he pronounce all of these words?! I’m pretty sure he’s smizing at me with his tunnel-boring gaze from inside my headphones. There is steam spouting from my ears. Todd is channeling his inner Christina Aguilera because he’s my genie who wakes up when I press ▶ and speaks swoony foreign words to me.

Todd really surprised me with his interpretation of Taulan’s character. I was expecting a hunk of epic proportions, but Todd took it to an entirely new level. He dragged his voice through the mud for this one, my friends. Hungry but not gravely, deep but not raspy. Totally…dragon-like. Is “dragon-like” a thing? Yes.

Taulan showcases Todd’s ability to embody a character. I became Taulan. I saw what he saw, my hands touched what he touched. People! Audiobooks aren’t supposed to be this real. Todd brings life to passages and texture to words.

Book Review:

Taulan is practically dead. I mean, he’s scorched to itty bitties and he’s lost all sense of self. He had traveled to earth to find a mate, but there’s nothing he wants more than to heal (or die) in privacy...mateless.

As the Primary Warrior of the third fleet (you’re swooning), it’s his duty to protect. While in battle, he is severely disfigured and now he’s lost all purpose in life.

He’d made his choice. He would return home to lick his wounds and then finally throw himself off a high aerie like any other male in his situation would.

How does one start over?

Lana, our sweet heroine, is in desperate need of a “restart” button. After having been in an abusive relationship, she just wants to start fresh…meaning, get a job. She’s totally broke! When luck never finds her, she decides to take a stab at life in our hot alien-dragon world…and a life with Taulan.

Umm, does she even want to go? I’ll take her place.

LOL. Personally, I think she had a few other options, but if an irrecoverably wounded man presented himself to me from the depths of holy hotness, I may consider tending to his wounds. 😏

As their “arrangement” becomes more than survival, and love drives their actions, Taulan has to overcome his insecurities to protect Lana. And we’re talking about Celia Kyle here—NOTHING is bland with this woman! Expect a heart-stopping romance that will tie you up in knots.

Taulan is my favorite Dragon of Preor. He’s wounded (figuratively and literally) and, my God, Todd Mrozek couldn’t have done a better job narrating his character. Call me infected. The Knowing has struck and I’m a wee bit obsessed right now.

Taulan steals the show in terms of character development, but Lana acts as a catalyst for his transformation. Her character arc is beautiful as well, but the wounded dragon…le sigh.

Gag! And let’s not even mention all the things trying to tear these two apart! Will Taulan fly again? Will he send Lana back to earth?

What about those who seem to hate the idea of Taulan and Lana together?

Taulan embodies self-sacrifice. Our lovers succumb to each other and share their burdens in such a unique way. Lana and our dragon hottie are sent on a journey of self-discovery, only to find themselves in one another.
