Jennifer Blackstream is a USA Today bestselling author of urban fantasy and paranormal romance. She is amazed and grateful to have made a writing career out of a Master’s degree in Psychology, hours of couch-detecting watching Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, and endless research into mythology and fairy tales. She firmly believes that whether it’s a village witch deciding she wants to be a private investigator, or a single mother having a go at being a full time writer, it’s never too late for a new adventure.

A fervent devotee of cooperative board games, Jennifer sets aside at least two nights a week for team-based adventures such as Mice & Mystics, Sentinels of the Multiverse, or Harry Potter: Battle at Hogwarts. She uses games with dice-based mechanics to lure in her ridiculously lucky-rolling son and daughter in the hope that they too will develop a passion for cooperative escapism.

Jennifer currently has three series going:

BLOOD PRINCE SERIES (PARANORMAL ROMANCE, COMPLETE):

Book 1 – Before Midnight

Book 2 – One Bite

Book 3 – Golden Stair

3.5 stars.

I'm not sure this one is based on any particular fairytale but it's about our hero pirate being threatened by the Ogre King to find the firebird or else. He kidnaps our heroine, an Earth witch to help him in his quest, unfortunately, our heroine doesn't do well when not land-bound.

I did like how the hero gradually came to understand the heroine's need for earth and the crew's desire to get her comfortable. And also, his decision to sacrifice himself to help the heroine escape from the Ogre King. It's one of those redeemed hero type of story.

Kirill, our vampire prince from One Bite makes a cameo but apart from that, there's not much of a connection to the original books. All in all, an ok read.

Another great by Blackstream. This is one of my favorites. I found the plot engaging and the romance sweet and intriguing. I have read the entire Blood Prince series and now the whole spin-off Blood Realm series. I have enjoyed reading each one as they come out and always eagerly anticipate the next one. They can all be read as standalones if you skip the prologues and epilogues, which I honestly skim through anyways. I really couldn’t care less about the whole “Hidden Kingdom” plot. WARNING: there is sex in this book, it is not erotica, but enough to be a steamy & hot adult romance. Blackstream usually sticks to just 1 scene towards the end of each book. Please do not read if you are looking for something PG. Romance-5/5 Steaminess-4/5 Explicitness-3/5

A Despicable Pirate Gets The Blackstream Treatment in This Turbulent Tale.

I am already a big fan of Ms Blackstream's writing style; I love the way she mixes mythology, traditional folk/fairy tales and gives them a new perspective.

I downloaded the narration of this book and once again Matt Addis' performance was outstanding! The pace he read transported me into the scenes and his tonal variations brought each character to life. He is a very talented voice actor and I would happily recommend books narrated by him.

I loved the duel nature of our so-called hero in this tale; I spent most of the story hating his guts but it was the glimmers of what Ms Blackstream hid beneath that kept me engaged. Our heroine is exactly what I crave in a leading female character; intelligent, resilient and has plenty of gumption.

I enjoyed the leading hook that this story gives us in the epilogue to Ms Blackstream's next series - Blood Realms. Will be adding them to my Amazon wish list too.

Captain Tyr Singlehand thought himself a very lucky man when he found a firebird's feather. He unfortunately made the mistake of trying to sell it to the wrong person. Now he has a quest to fulfill, and needs a powerful witch to help him.
Earth witch Ingrid is happy in her village. She uses glamour to hide her looks ,tends her orchard and helps the villagers. There is no way she is ever getting on a ship.
This magical quest is so much fun. The characters don't trust each other an inch. Our heroine has good cause to plot revenge. Our hero is just trying to save his own life. There is a lot of danger, but more than a few giggles.
Even the firebird is funny.
I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

He finally found someone he cared about more than himself

Ingrid is an amazing earth witch that has yet to reach her full potential since she hasn't taken a mate and until one very cocky, too charming and too good looking for his own good, kidnapping pirate enters her life and she finds herself in for an adventure of wonders she has never been too before. Tyr has made a deal with a greedy ogre king to bring him the elusive firebird or forfeit his life. These two are amazing and with appearances from some of our favorite characters the pages will fly by as being read. Definitely a must read and one of the best I have read this year!

Once again Jennifer Blackstream has captured my mind and plunged me into a world of fantasy. An earth witch contemplating revenge and a pirate learning that sometimes what you wish for as a youth isn't what you want in the end.

I devoured Pirates Witch. One sitting and it was over, now I'm feeling a little lost and find myself yearning to know more about the Blood Princes series. Needless to say I'll be getting all Jennifer's books in any format I can.

A quest, steaming chemistry and a fight against the choices they had made for themselves. Tyr and Ingrid make a sigh worthy couple and this HEA is worth the spring read.

A romance of the land and the sea

I greatly enjoyed this story. A tale of an earth witch kidnapped by a pirate and taken painfully far from the land that she draws her power from. The story was both funny and romantic. I loved seeing some old friends from the other books in this universe pop in, and really didn't want the story to end. If you enjoy Blue Voodoo or the Blood Princes series be sure to check this one out.

Short, last story of the Blood prince series.

I gave this 3 stars because I hate brutal, insensitive men. He could have gotten her help easier if he’d just be kind and gentlemanly like he promised. But no, he had to be a selfish, hard headed, egotistical man who only cares about his own needs.

But the rest of the story was interesting and it ended well, though Tyr really didn’t deserve Ingrid.

Fave scenes: Ingrid’s magical apple trees and the firebird in the epilogue.

Bonus

I love it when authors discover bonus stories in their series. I like how a bunch of things from the blood princes were tied together. And that firebird and his righteous indignation. ^_^

The Pirate's Witch (Blood Prince Series Book 6)

The love story of Tyr and Ingrid. Captain Tyr Singlehand ask the vampire prince Kirill to help him find the earth witch. Can he find her and what price will he pay? The story is a little boring but the end is great.

Couldn't get past the distasteful beginning. I had no desire to read further.
An obnoxious self absorbed man kidnaps, assaults and blackmails a woman... Yeah f*ck that. I don't want to read the coming forced "romance".
I also don't enjoy it when a characters looks are obsessively depicted...

exciting

This was such a good addition to the Blood Prince Series. Great characters, including a vocal firebird. And of course a happy ever after.

Kidnapping. Deceit. Action. Revenge. Longing. Passion. You get all this and more in Jennifer Blackstream’s book The Pirate’s Witch, the next book in her Blood Prince series. This latest retelling of a fairy tale character’s adventures gives us Captain Hook, known as Tyr here, on a quest to catch the firebird. He found a firebird feather and, expecting a handsome reward, took it to the Ogre King. Unfortunately the Ogre King demanded the entire bird, with payment being the sparing of Tyr’s life. Based on direction from Baba Yaga, Tyr sets out to find the earth witch Ingrid to help him locate the firebird. Being an earth witch, Ingrid reasonably refuses to go on Tyr’s pirate ship to accompany him on his quest. Tyr quite unreasonably kidnaps her, cutting her off from her source of power. Thus begins Ingrid’s plan for a very nasty revenge.

Tyr is a complicated character. He’s honest in that he tells Ingrid he values no one’s life more than his own, which he proves time and again with his actions. He’s hard to like at first, yet there are glimpses of a kind and caring man in his past and present. He’s grown tired of the life of a pirate and yearns for the simpler life he enjoyed as a boy in his family orchards. Ingrid could give him that life again, if only he hadn’t ruined all chances at happiness with his treatment of the witch.

There are threads that tie all of the books in this series together, and as a result Blackstream has created a new and interesting world where the characters are vaguely familiar but oh so much more than you remember from childhood stories. There is always something major standing in the way of a happily ever after that is often resolved in a way I never would have imagined. These books are fun, and I find myself unable to stop reading until I know how it all ends. It’s a wild ride, and definitely worth the time.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have a thing for pirates, always had. And this pirate here, oh my, he is a man after my own heart! Not a whiny boytoy with an eyeliner and a pouty mouth but a grown man who knows what he has to do and rules his ship with an iron fist. He takes no prisoners so to speak and even though he feels drawn to the earth witch he captures to "help" him with his quest, he treats her without mercy or qualms, putting his own life above all else. And he has reason to do so and he has a conscience to battle but never lets it stand in the way of what he wants and knows he needs to do. I absolutely fell for him and I fell for him hard. So I had little problems to see why she did too (even though he treats her abysmally and I totally can understand her burning need for revenge) even though it was a bit fast. His falling - oh, it is delicious and believable from beginning to end and I adored reading about it. They both are strong, they both are right and it tore me apart to read their story, feeling for both, understanding both, loving both... This is hands down one of the most gripping and beautiful love stories I've read. Tearjerking, heartbreaking, so deep and romantic! I loved it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. The main characters, Tyr and Ingrid, wrap you into their web of plotting resistance, revenge and romance. Will Tyr realize who he loves more; himself or Ingrid? Will Ingrid forgo her revenge for love? This is an excellent story, weaved together masterly by Jennifer. I could not put this down and read it within one day during a long flight.
Unlike her previous books, there is not many sex scenes; but I didn't miss them. The suspense of the story line was so interesting and intense that any more sexual forays would have ruined the plot. Don't get me wrong - Tyr is a hunk with a wistful but unresolved past. While, Ingrid is the key to his happiness but will she accept?
Then throw in his trusty second Smalls, and a wisecracking Firebird and this book had me laughing out loud at times - which isn't your normal romance book response.
I don't know the fable that Jennifer has revised into another ripper of a novel but you don't need to. That's the beauty of Jennifer's talent - she takes you on an unknown adventure. You will not regret purchasing book. Note, I received a copy of this book of an honest review.

This whole series is phenomenal. This book is about Tyr and Ingrid, Tyr is a pirate and Ingrid is an earth witch. Tyr gets himself into a predicament and needs to catch a firebird but he'll need the help of the witch. She can't leave to go sailing though because her powers work based off of the earth. After he takes her captive they start to bond and he actually learns to think of someone other than himself. We get to see some of the characters from the other books and I absolutely loved that we got some of Bluebeard's backstory! Jennifer Blackstream is a great writer, her words just flow together. I really love her writing because nothing is choppy or confusing. She really brings you into the story and keeps you entertained! Great story and great series. Definitely worth the money and time!

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

LOVED IT! This one may actually be my favorite in the Blood Prince and Blood Realm series'. You can still read it even if you haven't read any of the other books. There are a few cameos but you don't have to know their backstories and there are no spoilers for them either.

Tyr is on a mission to save his own skin and he's been told that the Earth Witch can help. When she isn't quite willing he kidnaps her and the adventure begins. I loved Tyr as a hero because he has all the charm a pirate should but he also has a wonderful vulnerability that makes you really care about him and the budding relationship with Ingrid.

Such a great story, go read it!

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This story is about a pirate, Tyr, and an earth witch, Ingrid. Tyr has to kidnap Ingrid so she can help him find a firebird. Because of their circumstances, Ingrid is not happy and would like nothing more than to turn him into dust. There is also attraction. The more time they are together, the harder it is to fight the list. They have sparks for sure.

I really did like this couple. Tyr is a selfish pirate only looking out for himself. Maybe he has found someone he values more than himself.

They are great together. This was a quick and nice read. It kept me interested but, I felt that something was missing. I would hav liked to see them more as a couple and a glimpse of their new lives together.
