This was a fun one. I love the show and binged every episode last year. There’s honestly just a few recipes in here I would attempt to make, but it was a funny read regardless.
If you love Modern Family and simple fun food, you will adore this cookbook. Fantastic photographs throughout featuring the food and ofcourse the cast of Modern Family. Easy to understand recipes (that were mentioned on the show at some point, I believe) and a nice oversized but not obnoxious format. Really, cute, really fun-I love it!
I don't normally review cookbooks but this book was like nothing I've seen. It was so creative. If you are a fan of cooking and Modern Family you will adore this book. They are very easy to follow recipes base off food inspired by the show. Each recipe shows what character the recipes is based off and a quote from the show about why they picked this dish. Not only pictures of the food but pictures of the cast, silly tidbits like how to get rid of annoying house guests, and even a section showcasing their beautiful houses on the show. I loved the article on Phil Dunphy's brain. Who know he loved cheerleading so much. Ha! Plus Gloria-English dictionary was a nice bonus. I really loved most of the dishes especially the Jay Pritchett sandwich based on Season 3, Episode 23: Gloria, Looking at the menu: "They named you after a sandwich?" Jay: "No, they named a sandwich after me." Gloria: "Turkey, bacon, Swiss cheese, red peppers, anchovies on wheat?" Jay: "Most people stop after salty bacon, but I doubled down with the anchovies." I wish I could say I tried some of these recipes but I haven't had a chance to try them yet. I will soon and let you know if they truly were as delicious as they sound. Still this book was like no cookbook I've read before. It combines charm, wisdom, and humor. Great book for any body who's a fan of Modern Family or just looking for some imaginative recipes.
There are few good comedies out there that have the qualities of the tv show 'Modern Family': a talented cast, brilliant writing and chemistry. The latter being the hardest one. When FRIENDS ended I was on a hunt to find a good comedy, although, in no way could that one be replaced. There were some however, that come close: How I met your mother and Modern Family are two.
The 'Modern Family Cookbook' was a fun read, one that clearly appeals to fans of the show. It features recipes mentioned on the show like Phil's first-day-of-school pancakes and Manny's Piña Delgado. I want to try some of these out: it has breakfast, lunch and dinner recipes, plus drinks. In between them, you get fun quotes from the show and photos from the cast.
Do you tune in weekly to watch the latest on the Dunphy-Tucker-Pritchett-Delgado clan? Then chances are that you will enjoy this as much as I did.
(I'm so hungry right now.. *off to make claire’s chicken & vegetable garden wraps*)
This is a fun cookbook with quality recipes that fans can tie back to favorite episodes, even if some are a stretch to relate. The ingredients and instructions are clearly spaced and listed as separate steps. I have the paperback and would consider upgrading to the hardcover for my long term collection.
This cookbook features recipes mentioned in the Modern Family tv series and is lavishly illustrated with both food and tv show photos. Each recipe is assigned to a character and features a bit of dialogue from the show. Clever sidebars include What Kind of Modern Family Parent are You? and Manny's Coffee Evolution. The book ends with suggested menus and an episode guide for the first six seasons. A great gift for the Modern Family fan in your life!
This is the funniest cookbook I've ever read. Perhaps it's because I truly am a fan of the show or that I know the show mimics my life at times...great recipes, pantry ready ingredients, easy to follow instructions, great pictures and hilarious banter from the characters of the show. Truly outstanding!
I have been collecting recipes recently when I came across this cook book for one of my favorite shows. While I have read it all from cover to cover I have yet to try a recipe but am definitely looking forward to it. This book is definitely a treasure for any fan of the show, with all kinds of entertaining things mixed in with the recipes.
This book seems to be more about the entertainment value in regards to the show than the recipes. The recipes are good, but there was no overall theme to them. I would say this book is great for a fan of the show (my boyfriend!) but not necessarily a staple in the kitchen.
This is funny and a great ode to the show for fans who like to remember lines and scenarios, but most of the recipes are simple and fairly run-of-the-mill. So, five stars for the amusement factor, two as a cookbook (though I collect cookbooks, so I probably am pickier than most).
