I love Art Deco, in any way , shape, or form. This book gives the reader the chance to see Art Deco in many forms with the 90 full-color and 8 black and white illustrations. After an introduction to Art Deco, the author goes on to illustrate architecture, furniture and design, the visual arts, and the useful arts.
Most people have seen it, but don't realize it.
Art Deco flourished in the 1920's and 30's. It was found all over the world. It reached back into history and drew from contemporary ideas as well. It was opulent. Then, the Depression changed things, but yet parts of Art Deco remained, just sometimes in a different form.
You've probably seen photos of the Empire State Building? Art Deco. The Chrysler Building in Detroit? Art Deco. Frank Lloyd Wright was very much involved in many forms of Art Deco.
