The first 50 pages flew by with fluid suspense. Koontz didn't miss a beat on building the plot thus far. We shall see if the rest of the book delivers.

Shadowfires is one of my favorite early Koontz novels, mainly based upon one very minor character: the Stone.

Almost gave Shadowfires a five star. It was that good. I read the paperback from Berkley Books, New York but Goodreads didn't have a photo cover of the single. First published under the pseudonym Leigh Nichols (1987). I loved this book. So well written I couldn't put it down. Lost some sleep reading till early morn. Koontz is a master of his craft!.This might be one of my favorite. It is a horror story. Eric Leben a genius scientist in his field of genetics wants to never die but to live forever. He is a horrible human being. His wife wants a divorce because he is a horrible human being. Leben dies in a traffic accident leaving a wife feeling sad but relieved until the ME calls to tell her they have lost his body...

I was able to finish The House of Thunders within just a couple hours. This book is, hands down, one of the best books I've read, 5 stars. Shadowfires was amazing but the ending was a let down compared to the rest of the book. DNF midnight. It felt never-ending and just kept dragging on. It had a good storyline but not very good execution. No rating.

Only read House of Thunder, my dad had a copy and gave it to me. I thought this was a good book - 300 pages and it only took me one day to read. The story is good but sometimes you could tell that the author took shortcuts. Some things were hinted at or solved too easily which threw off the pace of the mystery and confused me a bit. Overall a good read, super weird but I would recommend.

I very thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is full of constant twists and surprises and once you think you've guessed what is going on, you are way off . I actually hope there is a sequel to this because I really enjoyed the characters and their chemistry. Definitely one I would read again.

The House of Thunder - This was an early work of Dean Koontz. It was definitely a DK story though! I had a lot of questions reading this book. The sign of a good mystery!

Slow going at first but the last 1/3 of the book was worth going thru the first set up of the story!
