Bonnie Vanak fell in love with romance novels during childhood. While cleaning a hall closet, she discovered her mother’s cache of paperbacks and started reading. Thus began a passion for romance and a lifelong dislike for housework.

After years of newspaper reporting, Bonnie became a writer for a major international charity. She travels to destitute countries such as Haiti to write about famine, disease and other issues affecting the poor. When the emotional strains of her job demanded a diversion, she turned to her childhood dream of writing romance novels.

She lives in Florida with her husband Frank and two dogs, where she happily writes books amid an ever-growing collection of dust bunnies.

3.5 "Coop can rescue me" stars!!

Meg was a woman on the run and she was holding deadly secrets. Although she'd led a life of privilege, she basically fled with only her dog and the clothes on her back. Her husband was a monster and she had to get far away from him. Thanks to her best friend, she found a safe haven with a Navy SEAL, Cooper, and his family. Cooper was burdened by grief after his sister died due to a defective bulletproof vest. He was seeking justice against the company that manufactured that vest. Meg's secrets were just what Coop was looking for.

The plot was certainly interesting and I was pleasantly surprised by how deep the deception went. The characters were likeable enough and although Meg's thought process could get frustrating at times, I was sympathetic to her plight. Cooper was definitely the star of this story for me. He was authoritative, lethal, tender and compassionate. A real hero in my book!

Shielded by the Cowboy SEAL is a rapidly unfolding story filled with suspense, danger, and threat mixed with ardent attraction and tender adoration that melted my heart.
Navy SEAL Cooper Johnson is as alpha male as they come. He is protective, loyal, tough, and fierce, with a streak of a tender side when it comes to his loved ones and the animals in his care. He is not perfect, making him even more lovable, his temper is on a tight lease, his judgement might come quickly at times, but his heart is broken from the loss of his sister, and trying to make sense of the current events happening on the ranch, not to mention the woman trusted to his care, his world has been turned upside down while the whole family has been put into a danger.
Meg Taylor's fate in life hasn't been easy. She is running for her life from a soon to be ex-husband, guilt from the mishandlings with her company her driving force. All she ever wanted was to be loved, yet that seemed to escape her fingers time after time. She knows the threat to her life, yet she isn't aware of the extent of it, or how deadly the force after her truly is. Meg has courage and grit, she is a strong woman with a tender heart with bruised body and soul.
Meg and Cooper together made me swoon. They are scorching hot together, they melt the pages with the passion they share, yet the tenderness between them, the understanding, the support, the protectiveness, it was adorable and so sweet. There's a lot of facts and events that could have hindered them to ever to be together, yet they find forgiveness and compassion inside themselves and with each other at the direst times.
This story was easy to immerse to, get lost in it and the constant danger lurking around. The captivating cast of the characters charmed me with their kindness, toughness, and affection to each other, definitely an intriguing series to be followed!

I really enjoyed this book. The suspense was excellent. The twist and turns kept me turning the next page to find out what would happened. I never imagined how the story would play out. Love a book that I can't guess the ending. The action, and romance was also good.

Meg was a great heroine. She was on the run. She had to hide from her soon to be ex husband. He had beat her throughout their marriage. Now she is holding on to deadly secrets and scared to tell anyone or trust anyone but herself. Cooper who is protecting her wormed his way into her heart. Bit by bit she starting trusting him. Can the two stop the killer?

Shielded by the Cowboy Seal is my first book by Vanak despite being aware of this author and being want to read one of her novels for a while. When the opportunity came up to read her upcoming romance suspense novel . I jumped at the chance and wasn’t disappoint.

I don’t get enough of suspense into my schedule and when I do I expect a lot as I want to be entertained and kept guessing. I might love the old knight shine in armour /protector cliché but sometimes a girl just wants more and Vanak gives that.

Meg Taylor is no helpless socialite despite appearances and her dog. Running from her abusive ex takes courage and whilst she bears the scars. She knows that she saved now that she reached out to her best friend and her husband who run the SOS agency. It just one less pressing problem on her mind given the upheaval in her life of late . She has not time to delve on things just seek answers. Easier said then done.

Meg was a kindred spirit, her zeal for giving back and helping the community was something I could relate to. The moment that we thrown into scene of her in the car and see her trying to make her way to Cooper’s family farm. I knew that this story was going be special as there was something about her that you wanted to get to know. She never gave up despite her situation, she always puts other first and she was a match for the hero Cooper who had the same zeal but had lost it.

Meg’s affect was sorely need on Cooper , sullen Navy Seal who receives the assignment to babysit . In the middle of nowhere is perfect give Meg situation and leaves Cooper with something to focus on aside from the other pressing problems. On leave , he is seeking answers about the death of his beloved sister and Cooper is one tracked mind doesn’t want to focus on work at least all Meg.

Even so you could see that this man was hurting as the caring nature in him was obvious. He may had some ideas about things but I loved that Meg wormed herself in to his life. She pushed the right buttons and showed rather then forced her opinions even thought it lead to some stubbornness on their parts.

It just made the natural flow of things seem plausible as Vanak deliver in their stories further after throwing them together. It made the suspense even heighten as we watch the elements of their pasts and present come together to weave their story and take things to the next level. It was only nature for Cooper to question things and slowly drag us in to the deep end and the secrets. Both of them were hurting and I loved how Vanak brought everything full circle .

This wasn’t a straight forward story and I loved that. I loved how Vanak challenged things and keep us guessing til the very last few pages. I wouldn’t have never expected the drama or the action that this book brought and can’t wait for future instalments of this series.

Meg Taylor is in serious need of protection from her soon-to-be ex-husband, and there's only one man for the job, Navy Seal Cooper Johnson. Somehow, Cooper finds himself warming up to the one woman he shouldn't, especially once he learns how her past coincides with the death of his sister; a sister he is still grieving. Can he keep Meg safe and forgive her for the past, so they can have a future together?

What a wonderful book Ms. Vanak has penned for her second story in her SOS Agency series where right from the beginning, I was hooked to the heroine's point-of-view. Will she discover the evidence she needs to put her soon-to-be ex-husband in prison? Will she be able to absolve herself of the guilt she feels when it comes to Cooper's family and the death of his sister? However, it was the moment the two main characters met that turned this story into a real page turner for me, because Cooper proves what a good guy he is by making sure Meg is safe and helping her when it seems she's in trouble.

As for the dialogue, it was well-written and a wonderful combination of intense and playful. The intense dialogue was due to the main characters back stories, especially how they coincide with the death of the hero's sister and Meg's work. It is also intense due to what Meg's husband is doing to her while she searches for the evidence she needs to put him away for what he's done to her. Certainly, this book took a number of twists and turns that left me wanting to discover more about the hero and heroine's pasts, what happened to the heroine's grandmother and why would someone want to hurt the hero's family. However, there were also some light-hearted moments that had me smiling, because the hero and heroine are good for each other. The heroine needs to realize that not all men are like her ex and that Cooper is a good guy that would go above and beyond to keep her safe. While the hero needs to realize that Meg would never put someone in danger and that what happened to his sister was not her fault.

Both the main characters were compelling and I loved the obstacles this couple had to face on their journey to happy ever after. Cooper had every right to hate Meg once he learned the truth about how her past ties in with his sister's death. But I was glad that he realized the truth of who was really to blame and helped the heroine to get justice for his sister's death and all police officers that could have lost their lives because of her soon-to-be ex-husband's greed. Cooper is loyal, hard-working and I liked how determined he was to protect Meg and his family. Because nothing is more important than family, and protecting those that are innocent and taking down those that are guilty. While the heroine, she's strong, brave, and I liked how determined she is to take down her soon-to-be ex after everything he's done to her. She's been through hell, and no woman should have to go through what she has. She's lucky that Cooper is on her side and I couldn't help but feel sorry for her after everything she learns about how far her husband and his associates have gone to. It was emotional blow after emotional blow for her.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story by Ms. Vanak, which encompassed a strong romance and fast-paced plot that entertained me from start to finish with its dialogue and wonderful characters. The way this story ended was a little scary from the heroine's point-of-view, but she was fortunate that she could protect herself long enough to learn some hard truths and for help to come to her rescue. Moreover, I liked how the secondary characters rallied around the heroine and helped her. I would recommend Shielded by the Cowboy Seal by Bonnie Vanak, if you enjoy romantic suspense or the sexy protector trope.

In the second SOS Agency story, a woman who has been abused by her husband needs help, and the organization run by a good friend’s husband finds her a place to stay while making decisions about her future. This puts two people together that are seeking answers for different problems, and trust needs to be built between them or even more danger may come into her life. From the moment I started reading SHIELDED BY THE COWBOY SEAL, I was totally caught up in the many fascinating events happening to the two main characters, and each episode compelled me to keep reading in order to discover their next adventure. Bonnie Vanak has constructed an extremely gripping story of suspense, where the unexpected occurs without any warning.

Though her marriage had been bad for a long time, an incident made Meg Taylor realize she had to leave Florida and find a solution to the troubling issue that he had caused. After placing a call to a friend, she has arrived in a small town up north where she will be given a place to stay and hopefully will not be found by her rich soon to be ex-husband. Meg will be living on a farm which is owned by the family of Cooper Johnson, and the Navy SEAL will watch over her while home on leave. Although he recently lost his sister when the vest she was wearing did not keep her from being shot when answering a call about a disturbance, he is still willing to put his grief aside when a friend asks for his assistance.

After Cooper meets Meg, he gradually comprehends the woman once living a wealthy lifestyle is not really self-centered like he first thought. He also learns she knows some crucial facts that her husband does not want leaked. When more secrets are exposed, Cooper and Meg must decide on a workable solution, one which could perhaps aid them both.

SHIELDED BY THE COWBOY SEAL increases the suspense with one surprising twist after another. While a couple of developments seemed rather insignificant at the time, I came to understand they played a part in a much bigger scheme. Then there were the situations where a life was actually in danger, and I became very anxious because the outcome was questionable. Some reasons for any trouble are known while others are cleverly divulged as the story progresses. Just when I believed things were finally being figured out in my mind, some new detail was disclosed and I had to change the direction of my thoughts.

Bonnie Vanak has created a story packed with dangerous threats, and interwoven this peril with a very complicated romance. Cooper and Meg have suffered emotional heartache and personal losses, and it is hard for them to think better days will actually materialize. The situations in their lives are depicted with much realism, and I knew there were many obstacles that would keep them from ever being in a relationship unless they became more positive. Cooper is strong when others need him, yet the loss of his sister leaves him feeling like a part of him is missing. Meg has always tried to do what is right, but nothing ever seems to go as planned. The author puts the couple through a series of situations filled with honest reactions, heightened passion, and hopeful dreams before they can ever find lasting happiness.

I voluntarily reviewed the book and these comments are my honest opinion

Meg has finally escaped her abusive husband with the help of her friend Lacey and her husband thanks to their SOS Agency. They've also arranged for a safe place and protection until she can find the documentation she needs to put her soon to be ex-husband in prison. Meg knows she's on her own (except for her little dog Sophie that doesn't like men), she doesn't trust anyone, and she doesn't want to put anyone else in danger.
While home on leave helping his mother, Coop a Navy SEAL is asked by his former squad leader to protect a woman and her ferocious dog, who is in trouble. Jarrett wouldn't give him any additional information about Meg other than he needed to train her dog. Coop would do anything for Jarrett, but family comes first.
This is a very touching romantic suspense story that covers some strong issues. Physical abuse, death of family members, dangers of mafia, death of police that should've been protected, Navy SEALS, SOS underground railroad that promises safe shelter and help to start over from their abused spouse, but ends with a HEA. This was my first SOS Agency story, but it won't be my last. I was enthralled from the very beginning, I had to find out what happened next. Although this was the 2nd book in the series, I didn't feel as though I missed anything. However I'm sure I did. I do plan to go read the first book, I cannot wait to see what Bonnie comes out with next for the SOS Agency series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via Tasty Book Tours through NetGalley in exchange for an honest blog tour review. Due to adult situations, this book is recommended for readers 16 and older.

Gripping story of how this family took her in, cared for her and they all fell in love with her. But it's unfortunate that as she begins to unravel her life and what others did, how it strangely connects to this families life. Can the one she's fallen in love with, ever forgive her after he spent so much time helping her to learn to trust them?

Shielded by the Cowboy SEAL was a captivating, fast-paced story. It was filled with suspense, danger and hot romance.

Meg Taylor ran from her abusive husband and, with help from a friend, found a place to hide on Cooper Johnson's ranch.

Cooper, an ex-SEAL, was sure he could protect Meg, although he didn't think a woman coming from a life of privilege would fit into life on the ranch. He was wrong. Meg enjoyed living on the ranch much more than she did her former life. She fit into that world very well proving she was not the pampered rich girl Cooper expected.

Meg was thankful to get away from the man she had married. But she felt guilty about the issues with her company. She was afraid for her life and worried that she might be found. But she was courageous. Brave enough to run away. She just hoped she had run far enough. Meg was strong but had a tender side and cared about others. Helping wherever she could.

I loved Cooper and Meg together. Both fought their attraction but finally gave in. Not only were they hot for each other, but also tender and kind. Amazingly, they got through everything that happened with their feelings intact. But their protectiveness grew along with their strength.

This story was easy to get caught up in with constant danger and heartwarming romance.

They say good things come in small packages and that definitely applies to Shielded by the Cowboy Seal. That amount of story packed into this book is mind boggling - from domestic and animal abuse, to the grief of losing a sibling,to the challenges both our police force and our military face trying to keep the peace and stay safe. My heart broke for Meg, a Palm Beach socialite on the run from a abusive husband. She is also trying to clear her name and help protect those who depend on her families bullet proof vests and gear. The depth of emotions evoked while I was reading this book was startling - it's been a long time since I wanted to reach through the pages and smack someone like I wanted to her ex-husband. My heart also broke for Cooper and the grief and anger that he was going through with the death of his sister. Watching two very broken people find their happily-ever-after was so gratifying after the roller-coaster of emotions that you experience while reading this book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

Meg Taylor is on the run from her abusive ex husband, and is as of now under the care of Navy SEAL Cooper Johnson. Cooper is on a mission to find the people responsible for the faulty vest that cost the life of his sister, meanwhile Meg has a secret that could ruin her life because shes responsible for the death of someone. Both will do what they can with their side problem but the one ever present problem is Megs ex stalking them.

I loved the suspense of this book. It was complex and at times predictable but I loved it. I loved that there was plenty of twists and turns to keep the readers wanting more. I also loved the connection between the main characters and there was a few times steamy moments between the two. Just wanted to put the head up on you readers who like a clean book. Overall this book was pretty great, fast paced, plenty going on to keep the headers hooked.

This is the story of Navy Seal Cooper Johnson (Coop) who is home on leave after his sister was killed in a domestic. She had been wearing a faulty bulletproof vest and Coop just wanted to grieve his sister and work the ranch.
When he is asked to do an urgent assignment by his ex boss from his unit and who is now the CEO of SOS Agency. The assignment is to look after a soon to be divorcee running from her abusive Ex, Meg Taylor and her dog.
Coop has not been given the full story about Meg and discovers that she is the wife of the man whose faulty bullet proof vests killed his sister.
I loved this book great suspense and the attraction between Meg and Coop that has brought them together when her secret and journey together trying to find the proof that could put her husband in jail but may also put Meg in jail.

Great story. Just enough mystery yo keep me reading even when I should be doing something else. Cooper is a man’s man and a woman’s fantasy. Meg is a woman who needs a fantasy ending to the nightmare she’s living.

When I saw the title of this book I was drawn to it even though the author was one I was not familiar with. Boy, am I glad I got it.
This book is the second one in Ms Vanak’s series titled SOS Agency. I have not read the 1st one, and can attest to the fact that it is a stand alone.
The book centers around Cooper, A Navy Seal on leave, while helping his family run their bed and breakfast, as well as help in the healing after the death of his younger sister.
Meg, is a Palm Beach socialite on the run from her abusive husband who has been sent to Cooper’s family ranch as a safe house.
The book is filled with intrigue, suspense, and romance. But it so much more complex than that. It brings to light not only the devastating effects of domestic abuse, but also animal abuse. In addition to that, it highlights the dedication and risks of being in law enforcement. And let’s not forget, the honorable and dedicated men and women serving our country. In this case, a Navy Seal. How these strong men and women put their lives on the line for us, and at times , when they return , integration is not easy.
Ms Vanak also deals with the importance of family, loyalty and friendship and of course love.
So, thank you , Ms Vanak, for such a wonderful story.
I was gifted this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Meg is a woman on the run from her abusive ex. After calling on a sorority sister from college, she becomes part of a program designed to help those in her situation. Her case comes with the added trouble - association with a company manufacturing faulty bulletproof vests.
Cooper Johnson, Navy Seal, is home on leave to help his family after his sister is killed in the line of duty. Accepting a temporary assignment of protecting the friend of his ex-superior’s wife, he spends his off time trying to locate the owner of the company responsible for his sister’s death.
When I read the blurb, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this story to read. It pushed all the right buttons. I loved the story line. The setting wasn’t what I expected but it worked, and worked well. The author did a good job of throwing in some twists and turns and would’ve been great, but I had a few concerns. For a woman thought of as having a spine of steel and running from an abusive ex., I found some of her responses contradictory and the timing of her actions delayed. Also, some borderline TSTL moments pulled me out of the story a bit.
As far as Cooper, I found him sexy and drool-worthy. Unfortunately, I thought some of his responses ill-timed considering his determination to protect Meg. Still, their emotions felt real and the romantic scenes hot. All in all, I’d give this four stars.

Shielded by the Cowboy SEAL by Bonnie Vanak is book number two in the SOS Agency series. This is Navy SEAL Cooper Johnson and Meg Taylor's story.

Cooper is on leave to help his mother with the family farm. Also, it has only been six months since his sister was killed in the line of duty as a cop due to a defective bulletproof vest. He is determined to find who is responsible for the defective vest. Family comes before anyone or anything else.

Meg needs a safe place to get away from her abusive husband. Cooper agrees to keep Meg safe at his family farm. There is definitely chemistry between them but neither or in a positon for a relationship. There are things from Meg's past that she hasn't shared with Cooper because she doesn't know who she can trust. How will Cooper react when he learns what Meg has been keeping from him?

This story has it all! A Navy Seal and he is also a cowboy plus you get suspense, passion, danger, and dealing with emotional issues. I loved Cooper and Meg's story.

FYI, includes mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

4 1/2 STARS!

Fast paced and filled with intrigue! We follow along and chase the clues with them right up until the end to figure out who all of the bad guys are. This group of characters were fun to read about.

Meg Taylor is lucky to have an old friend that puts her in touch with someone who can help her when she needs it most. She’s carrying a lot of secrets with her though, and eventually they are going to come back to bite her if she doesn’t soon trust Coop enough to let him help her.

Navy SEAL Cooper Johnson is home on leave after losing his sister. He’s working around the family farm and just trying to heal and help his family get into a better place before he goes back to his job. When he gets a call from a former teammate, he’s happy to step up and help keep Meg safe until they can find a better place for her to go. He finds that having here there and spending time talking with her actually soothes his soul and helps him accept the loss of his sister.

When the secrets Meg has been hiding finally explode and put the entire family in danger, will they be able to find the proof they need to get everyone back to safety before it’s too late?

3.5 Stars

Meg is a woman on the run from an abusive and dominating soon-to-be ex-husband. She's utilizing an Underground Railroad for battered women and her new protector is none other than Navy Seal Cooper Johnson. Coop and his family are still grieving the tragic loss of a family member from a defective bulletproof vest and he's made it his mission to bring down M. E. Reilly. But, Meg carries a secret that may tear the family apart. Now Coop needs to put his skills to work if he wants to help Meg and make sure she survives the coming storm. But someone is watching...

This was a quick-paced, suspenseful romance with some flashes of heat. There were lots of twists and turns and I'm always interested in a riddle/puzzle to solve. There were some parts that were predictable, but that stems from the reader's mind solving the clues and seeing the big picture that the characters don't see. Overall, I thought this was a pretty good book.

When a woman goes on the run from her abusive soon-to-be ex-husband, Navy SEAL Cooper Johnson agrees to keep her safe on his family’s ranch. He never expected to fall for a woman like Meg, but soon enough, he’s falling hard and protecting her with all he has.

I really loved this story! It had a lot going on, with the characters and with the suspense, and it made for a complex, fast-paced, and well-written read. The chemistry between the characters developed at a great pace and led to some fantastic moments of connection between the two. The background story didn’t overshadow the plot, either, but enhanced the story and gave both it and the characters a great deal of depth. Which I loved.

If you’re looking for a quick, well-written romantic suspense story, definitely check out Shielded by the Cowboy SEAL by Bonnie Vanak. It’s an entertaining read with lots of action and a terrific cast of characters. Definitely recommend it.

If you are looking for a fast-paced, suspenseful read then Shielded is the story for you.

The book centers around Cooper, who is a Navy Seal who is on leave visiting his family. While there he receives an assignment to help keep a wealthy socialite, Meg, safe from her abusive husband. What better place that to have her blend than in with the handsome Seal/Cowboy on his family's ranch.

Both Meg and Cooper where complex characters with a great connection that kept you drawn to the story. This was so full on intrigue and suspense, making you wonder where the story was going. It was a page turner for sure. Not a whole lot of steam in this book but sometimes you need a good romance with out too much distractions.

Although this book is part of series it can be read as a standalone.

Meg is on the run from her abusive husband and is headed to see Copper Johnson and ex Seal. Coop is trying to find out who is the real person responsible for the faulty vest he bought his sister who use top be a cop and got killed while wearing the vest. On the other end Meg has a secret that she has killed someone and her husband knows how and why. Can they come together and and help each other?

The writing is great and the suspense in the book was even better than I expected. Some of the story was predictable but others weren’t and it doesn’t take away from enjoying the book as a whole.

There were a few steamy moments between the two, fast paced and a real page turner.
