A very simple book for young readers. While I understand the reason for simplicity, I think that a few concepts could have been fleshed out better. The concept of symbols are brought up, and the symbols are shown, but no meaning is given besides that they are from Africa. I also think the meaning of the candles and the unity cup could have had one more sentence of explanation. Overall, I think it would be a good introduction to very young children, but I would want to look at some of the books cited in the back, or some fiction picture books for a more cohesive picture.
