If running from a hit man wasn't scary enough, ATF agent Thayne Wolfe, has a new challenge in his life and this one may be even more dangerous than the last. He has to figure out how to work with his reckless new partner, a handsome former Marine who seems to have a death wish.

Jarrett Evans never stays in one place very long and being chained to a desk doing paperwork is not his idea of entertainment. His lover and new partner at the ATF seems to find ways to throw a monkey wrench into all his fun, especially when Thayne wants to curtail his need to jump off ten story buildings.

When their boss sends them to San Diego to investigate a fireworks accident, he figures Jarrett can’t hurt anyone playing with sparkers, not even himself. The fact is, danger, intrigue and Jarrett's dubious past seem to follow the men wherever they go.

From a Marine base at the Mexican border to an explosion in LA’s Chinatown, they aren't prepared for a seriously pissed off militia, a smoking hot ex-lover, and more guys who want them dead.

The sparks will fly in and out of the bedroom in Flash and Bang.

**grm** (little spoiler down)

I must say that I liked this book less than the first one, probably bcs it was way longer and had more pages than needed, and also bcs I wasn't a fan of Jarrett kissing that other dude, Adael, or whatever was his name(his ex-lover).

Sure he and Thayne didn't give a definition to their relationship, didn't say the 3 famous words to each other, and maybe Jarrett didn't start that kiss or wanted it, but he still reciprocated, and also if I can't count that as really cheating, I still wanted to slap the both of them, and I wanted Thayne to get angry.... I really hope that in some book Thayne will make Jarrett jealous, bcs he deserves it.

Anyway, the mystery was interesting also if not hard to understand and the book was action packed and filled with sexy and hot scenes. You can't not like them as a couple, but damn if I wished the book had less pages....

Wow.....This is a great addition to the series.....Jarrett and Thayne are sent to investigate a fireworks incident and all hell breaks loose......Someone is out to hurt innocent people and also someone is out to kill Jarrett and doesn't mind if they take out Thayne too....These two are just adorable together and really are the perfect pair.....Jarrett is all out dangerous but he's working out that he loves Thayne and Thayne loves Jarrett......They are targeted several times and Patricia certainly knows how to get your heart in your mouth.....This book certainly knows where to hit and hit hard.......Jarrett certainly has ruffled some feathers but with Thayne watching his back they are going to have to try a lot harder if they want to get rid of these two tough hot ATF agents x

Audiobook Review

Here we go again...

Flash and Bang picks up about two months after Death and Destruction. Thayne and Jarrett are partners and lovers. More importantly, the hitmen chasing them in the last book seemed to have backed off and they can go on living life as normally as these two, at times insane, men can. They are tasked to investigate a fireworks accident in San Diego. Only it wasn't an accident and several more attacks occur across the state. The more they uncover the more danger they finds themselves in and they soon finds themselves questioning if they are doing the hunted, or if they are the ones being hunted.

The book felt clunky at times, there wasn't a natural progression of events - or at least it didn't feel like it to me. It was a mix of intense action with bullets flying, explosions and jumping of roof tops then there was the marathon, hot and heavy sex scenes. And by marathon I mean some 20+ minutes long scenes. Now you probably know me by now, and listening to these epic and drawn out sex scenes is not my thing, and them happening time and again - I'm sorry but that's just not for me. I want and need something more, something that I didn't quite get. This much on page sex feels like either the author needs the words as filler to make the book longer or she's trying to use it to mask the lack of a deeper connection between the main characters. Maybe it was a bit of both.

Michael Pauley sadly couldn't bring this book to life for me either. He never really managed to make or keep me interested. At times I listened to the words, but nothing really registered and more than once I found myself questioning what I'd just listened to, what just happened or was going on. As you might guess, that's not a good feeling to have while listening. I can't say why it happened, if it was the writing or narration or a combination of the two. The sad thing is that I know they can make it work, I absolutely loved Thin Blue and I wished I could love this series as well.

I can see this book and series appealing to a lot of people, but it seems like I'm not one of them. So I think I might stop this series here, at least for now, and keep to the spin off series instead.

**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**

Thayne and Jarrett are back with more sparks than ever!

Thayne thought running from a hit man was dangerous, little did he know learning to work with his reckless new partner would be even more troublesome if not, infuriating.
Jarrett has always been one to be on the move, always flying into the action, having his new lover and partner and his new boss at the ATF reprimand him for doing his usual spontaneous and somewhat crazy actions sure puts a damper on his fun.

But the fun and games come to a screeching halt when a mishap with fireworks at a Marine base turns out to be no 'accident' at all and brings back dark memories Jarrett wished he could forget.

Thayne wishes more than anything that Jarrett would talk to him. Though he knows some of the things he has been through is classified he just wishes he could talk to Jarrett and not feel and know he's being lied to. Things certainly feel strained after their last mission together and Thayne worries where they stand. For he's falling a lot harder and faster for Jarrett, than he could have ever thought was possible and to him, Jarrett seems as aloof as ever. Though sometimes he can't deny the desire and love he sees in his eyes.

During the investigation into the fireworks accident on base, Sparks of jealousy ignite within Thayne when an unexpected appearance from Jarrett's past waltz's in.

Jarrett wanted to always keep his dark past away from Thayne but it has a way of coming back to haunt him. With the warning and threat that someone is out to kill him, left by the assassin that was after Thayne, Jarrett is secretly trying to put the pieces together to keep his past from trickling in and taking his future with Thayne away from him. With his ex-lover coming into the picture to explosions seemingly wrecking the city, will Jarrett be able to solve his own mystery before both he and Thayne go up in flames?

What another roller coaster of adventure. I so loved this book more than the first!
I'm happy that Jarrett's ex coming in the way he did, didn't really harm their relationship. Even though what happened... happened! I am so glad Jarrett and Thayne talked it out and that Thayne had the calm and collected response to something that could have had the potential to throw their relationship up in smoke. I'm glad the author didn't make it an issue.
Though with other tings, I was left with a bit more questions than answers. Of course, we have the lingering threat of Mills Lang over Thayne's head. It's looming in the shadows all but ready to strike. Also now, we have the silence order that has been put over Jarrett's head as well. Who is trying to silence him permanently? How high up the ladder does it go? Also, where did his ex suddenly go? He walks out of the the hospital and he's just vanished? Could he actually have something to do with it?

I hope more is answered with the next book because I'm burning with curiosity!

Entertaining story of two hot ATF agents solving cases and smooching in their down time. 10 book series, must be read in order. Great characters, nice growth and development over the course of the series, lovely side characters, friends and family. I read the first 5 books a while ago and I wished I had kept notes to give this series a proper review. I know I loved the characters and the couple and that the cases were interesting and exciting. The hair salon was awesome and totally memorable, even years later. Some undercover assignments, everyone a bit broken due to the nature of their work, taking chances and being reckless on the job to get results.

These books need to be read close together, at least read through book 6 before taking any large breaks. The long-term plot has a lot of twists, turns, betrayals and characters. Due to the betrayal storyline, they understandably don’t want the culprit too easy to identify, so there are a TON of characters. I took a large break between books 5 and 6 and unknowingly deprived myself the joy of the big reveal, since I had forgotten who most of the side characters were. As everything was unraveled and explained in book 6, I barely had any idea what they were talking about. My fault completely. Learn from my mistake, don’t take any long breaks until after book 6!!!!! I read the first 5 books over three months, then read book 6 nearly 2 years later. Don’t do that.

Reviewed as a series, each book is a 4-5 on its own, with the entire series coming in as a solid 5. Great writing, excellent banter and conversations, interesting investigations, great action scenes with tough guys and beautiful hurt/comfort moments when cases fall apart.

Contemporary, vers, m/m, finished series, must read in order, ATF, federal agents, HFN during series, HEA in book 7.

I am really loving this series. Thayne and Jarrett are so perfectly matched. I'm really glad that Jarrett trusted Thayne enough to tell him that someone was trying to kill him and now them. Jarrett had a lot of breakthroughs in the book. I ready to hear the "I love yous" right now. How long will we have to wait? Also I wholeheartedly agree with one of my fellow GR friends, at about 80% the sex scene that Jarrett and Thayne have was, wow (fans herself) hot 🔥🔥.

4.5 Stars for Flash and Bang!

When we last saw our intrepid heroes at the end of Death and Destruction, Jarrett had just been offered a place at the ATF. Six months later, at the beginning of Flash and Bang, he’s completed his training and has spent a month actually working for the agency, but adjusting to life with specific boundaries again hasn’t been easy, and Jarrett has had a bit of an authority issue.

When he and his partner/lover Thayne are sent to San Diego to do some investigative work on a Marine base, more than just the fireworks start exploding. The real question, though, is whether the suspicious circumstances are fireworks-based or are they Jarrett’s past resurfacing?

The start of this book is hysterical, part of the ten story building referenced in the summary. From there, it builds into all sorts of interesting situations. Mills Lang, the gun runner from the first book, is still living free seven months later, so I kept wondering if or when he might make an appearance. Then there’s this new group of kooks (read: militia) headed by one Reverend James who are wreaking havoc all over the place.

The main plot is wonderful, and then there are all these subplots that keep an already-interesting book super busy. Jarrett’s past and present collide when his former lover, Mossad agent Adael, shows up on the scene, and that presents a whole new world of issues for Thayne and Jarrett. The pacing is fast, keeping your brain fully engaged from start to rip-roaring finish.

The chemistry between the men hasn’t diminished in the slightest, and I keep waiting for one of them to take a chance and tell the other that he loves him, but scars run deep, and with both afraid their feelings will run the other off, they may never get there (or do they? I’ll not be telling here.). Watching the growth of each character as they start facing their truths is lovely and painful at the same time. For all their confidence, they are still afraid to open up on the really hard stuff.

This case is wrapped up nicely by the end of the book, but these two still have a long future ahead of them, and I am already chomping at the bit for the next episode. This has become one of my favorite serial dramas! Grab it and the first, Death and Destruction, today and join in the fun!

I finally finished it. I can say this: this book was well written and the subjects and topics mentioned in it well researched. I loved the descriptions of all the places that the story was taking place in.

Jarrett and Thayne were beautiful together. Their steamy S*E*X was off the charts hot especially the last intimate scene at about 80% of the book. I think that was on of the best s-e-x scenes I have read in a while, but that's just my opinion! Besides the sexy part there was a lot of feelings involved and it was described in such an amazing way that I really felt the love they had for each other even thought they dared not express it for reasons of their own. I loved their interactions together, the humor and constant good natured teasing, it made the book a fun read at times.

But while I liked the book it still took me a while to finish it because it didn't grab me as I thought the book of this genre would. This is one of my favorites, about cops and agents together as lovers. It only really started getting very good at about 65% of the book for me. From that point I was on the edge of the seat! The ending was spectacular, I think, because all was well and the case was solved. I really hope that the next book will be more exciting for me because I do love Thayne and Jarrett and want to find out how this two strong men will finally be together in the open and build a happy life, but let's not forget all the trouble they can get into!!!

This book is the 2nd in a series. It must be read in order as the story follows a larger story line. Each book is written to completion, however the story of the two men grows with each book as does their love.

Just when you think Patricia Logan can't get any better and you can't possibly love a couple more than the one in the book you just read, you search Logan's catalogue and uncover more magic. Pure, emotional, heart stopping, page turning passion heat and true love!

The story of Jarett and Thayne is one you'll never see coming. It'll blow you away with its page turning twists.

You will never expect the way they each grow as individuals and how epically Patricia Logan writes the two men. Both of these two men are hurt by life in their own way.

Thayne is angry he has to be in Witsec after being undercover for two years. Thayne works for the ATF. His last mission to get one of the world's most dangerous criminals was brutal. Thayne has experienced great loss while he has been gone. He's angry at his boss, the ATF and the arms dealer he had to be around for 2 years.

All Thayne wanted was peace. His boss had other ideas assigning the white haired and blue eyed mysterious Jarret Evans to be in charge of his safety until Thayne had to testify against his tormentor.

Jarret, a man you will no doubt love, was just as much as beaten down by life as Thayne. As a former Marine sniper, Jarret has faced his great share of loss from his time in the Marine Corps. He is jaded and has never believed a man like him could ever find true love. You will read this story and be right there with Jarret and know his mind as well as you know your own.

You will live in this story as the world building the author writes is perfection. This is why I love Gay Romance!

Follow Thayne and Jarret along as they find themselves, let down their walls and find love. After all, love is all that matters. They are truly soul mates in every sense of the word. The author captures the real moments that happen when a couple falls in love. I appreciate that.

This is one of my favorite stories and my favorite couple. Talk about Boyfriend Goals! Everyone will want to watch Thayne and Jarret together. It's pure enjoyment from start to finish in this entire series!!

Recensione presente sul blog readingrainbowbooks.blogspot.it

Enjoyed much more than book one

While I really liked the main characters Thayne and Jarrett in book one the story, and particularly the ending were not as enjoyable. In fact much of it was frustrating and it appears poorly researched. The ending was beyond awful. However I decided to try book two particularly because I liked the characters and was hoping it would be better. I was not disappointed.

In this book Evans has become an ATF agent and is Wolfe's partner. The main story revolves around threats from a militia but the secondary story, which began in book one involves someone from Jarrett's past trying to eliminate him. That storyline is a big part of the book and we learn more interesting information about his past. There isn't the poorly thought out storyline from book one and the author seems to have gotten over the repetitive use of the mens' names and interchanging first and last names. This book was much easier to read. The author still hasn't resolved the issue with the villain from book one and it's a bit ridiculous, given the premise of book one and the way that character was described to think he's just giving up on Thayne. Even more ridiculous that (spoiler alert from book one) he's free and not being tried again. Just bad writing.

The relationship between the two men continues to deepen and it's going to be fun to read further. On to book three for me. I'm hoping the entertainment value continues to be high.

I will admit it…I couldn’t wait for this next book in the series to be done and released!!! I fell for Jarrett and Thayne in their first book “Death and Destruction” but, unlike these two stubborn men, I will admit it, I fell head-over-heals in love with them in this one.

“Flash and Bang” picked up right where we were left off. Jarrett is now hired as an ATF agent and assigned to partner with Thayne. Jarrett isn’t used to wearing suits and ties, sitting at a desk doing paperwork, or being kept on a very short leash by his superior. Thayne is constantly kept on his toes by Jarrett’s “less-than-typical” style. Their boss, SAC Stanger has just about had enough of his antics and sends them to Miramar to investigate an accident that happened during a pyrotechnics show. Jarrett isn’t thrilled to be sent down to investigate “fireworks… like sparklers or something?” Turns out to be a lot more than just an accident when someone turns up dead. The boys are up to their necks in danger again. They start working with the local police and FBI to try to stop the chance of illegal fireworks being transported into the United States and used by terrorists.

I swear these guys have giant targets all over them. Signs that must read “Hit me with your best shot!” because they keep getting messed up and then get back up for more. They have more scars covering their gorgeous bodies than one can count. I thought it was hilarious that the one doctor didn’t want to do stitches on Thayne because it might leave a scar! Seriously Doc, have you looked at the man you are working on! But I was glad his beautiful face was relatively unscathed!

Both these men seemed to have no idea how truly gorgeous and head-turning they are. They are just doing their jobs, or at least trying to, if people would stop trying to snuff them out. They’re tough men doing what they need to do to protect the citizens of their country. Honorable and humble men. I only wish that they could let down their defensive nature a bit with each other and see that they are both truly in love. But they seem like they can’t, or won’t. Oh, and if you thought the sex was red hot in the last book, have a cool drink near by to cool you down while reading this one, because it is explosive this time around.

As you can tell, I am over-the-moon in love with this action packed series! I can’t wait for the third one to get here quickly enough. This action-packed, fast paced thriller will have you racing to turn the pages as quickly as you can. A must read!!!

This is Book 2 in the Death & Destruction series. I read and listened Book 1 prior to this one, but I think you could get away without reading Book 1, if you're not the type of person who has to read series in an order (i.e. Me!!).

This book starts up a few months after the previous book ended. Jarrett has gone through his training for the ATF and he and Thayne are working assignments. Jarrett seems to be struggling to perform within the confines of the ATF and after a risky move, he and Thayne are given an "easy" assignment of investigating a fireworks mishap. Of course, you know this isn't going to be an easy case. That would be a short book, wouldn't it? What ensues is a lot of mystery, killing, injuries, twists, and turns!

Throughout half of this book, I was wondering if this would be a love story or if it was just partners with benefits. I was wrong! I felt the relationship between Thayne and Jarrett really was masterful. It was slow paced and there was no overnight falling in love. For those who need a break from instalove (no hate for them here!), this is a book/series you're going to want to read! And let me tell you, there is no skimping on the sex scenes, they were HOT!
The narrator of this story is Michael Pauley, who also narrated the first book. This narrator doesn’t get enough credit for his terrific performance in audiobooks! He is one of my favorite narrators and I know going into a book that he is going to kill it! The narrator does a great job of getting each character a voice, and doesn’t simply read the book, he brings all the characters and story to life! He has a beautiful, easy to listen to voice, keeps a good pace, and expresses emotion perfectly! Mr. Pauley is truly a master at what he does, and I will never get enough of his work!

If you're looking for a book full of action, mystery, crime solving, friendship, hot sex and love, this book is for you! I’ve read this whole series, so if you’re unsure, do it! And, if you haven’t, I strongly encourage you to listen to this audio because as much as I enjoyed reading, listening to the series just elevates it even more!

I had to DNF this book.
I'd enjoyed book #1, but book #2 made me so mad from the get-go I couldn't take more than two hours of audio.
So many reasons... here are just a few.

All of this, and a narrator who, even though his character voices were great, his main narration was stuck in over-the -top 'Movie Trailer Guy' mode and made me want to cringe.

These are the reason's I'm done with this series

I felt the first book moved far too fast and now the characters are questioning things. I liked this book.

Jarret is back from training to join the ATF as Thayne's partner. They are assigned to a case of fireworks exploding causing several injuries and one death on a military base. As the investigations deepen it appears that the case is related to a militia led by a Reverend James Elroy. There is also a few subplots with Jarret getting shot and realizing he may be on a hit list. We find out more about Jarret's past.
We also get Jarret and Thaynes growing relationship, and how they both are dealing with their growing feelings for each other.

There is a lot going on, and it all works so well keeping you turning those pages. I love Thayne and Jarret. There are plenty of other intriguing characters as well. There is a touch of humor, lots of mystery and suspense and lots of hot sex scenes.

If you love mystery, suspense. Military men, action, men in suits, ATF agents, and lots of hot man-sex you will love this book. This is book two. I think it could be read alone, but if you read book one first, you will have a better understanding of the characters and a few of the names mentioned.

If you want action and adventure.....

This is the book for you! Patricia writes some of the best action packed thrill rides ever. In the first book, we met Jarrett and Thayne. ATF agents, who were trying to bring down a gun runner, as well as dodge whoever is after Jarrett.
In this book, we are back with the guys as they are tasked with finding out who sabotaged a fireworks event. Needless to say, there is much more than meets the eye with this case, plus we get closer to finding out who is after Jarrett. On top of all this, both Jarrett and Thayne are realizing they have fallen in love, but are keeping it close to the vest and not saying anything.
This book has it all! Action, mystery and intrigue, romance and lots of HOT sex between our MC's. The supporting characters play an integral part in all of this, and the storyline keeps you enthralled and wanting more!
I so did not want this book to end, I was riveted from start to finish! I cannot wait for the next book and to see what else is in store for Jarrett and Thayne.

Brilliant and so well done!!!

Ok listen, I love this series. The plot line in book #2 was actually better in my opinion than in book #1. HOWEVER, I am so mad we didn't have more involvement with Mills Lang. Seriously? Its like he just forgot about his grudge with Thayne and disappeared. WTH?! Ok, rant over.

Having said all of that, I SO enjoyed the book. Lots of steamy scenes and enough twists and turns to keep me interested and guessing. I am a little mad book #3 isn't on audio yet (at the time of this review anyway) because I am sad to leave Thayne and Evans behind. I have grown quite fond of them.

A note on the narration: Ive said it before, but Michael Pauley is amazing. The book is great on its own, but he truly brings the audio to life. Love him.

I recommend this series to anyone who loves some M/M hot action mixed with a good story.

Jarrett and Thayne from Patricia Logan's huge hit "Death and Destruction" are back! This time, Jarrett has joined the ATF and has been parterned with...you guessed it...Thayne, his secret lover and the guy he protected in the first novel.

Apparently Jarrett has a death wish of some sort and carries no fear as he gets into situations that drive both Thayne and Thayne and Jarrett's boss insane. It is decided that they will be sent on a case on a Marine Base in San Diego involving fireworks that caused an explosion thought to be an accident. But Thayne and Jarrett find out that it might be much more than that.

And OFF THEY GO. This book is as great a read as Death and Destruction, but of course that was epxected since Patricia Logan has such a gift with telling a story that will be remembered.

I recieved an ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

This book has everything action, suspense, drama, romance and lots of hot sex. I love Jarrett and Thayne they're sexy, intelligent, deadly and always have each others back. What started out in book one as two lonely men stuck together having sexto get their rocks off has turned into a full fledged relationship between two men who love each other deeply, even though they won't admit it. This author really knows how to keep you coming back for more. We still don't know whose trying to kill Jarrett and Thayne or why but we can't wait to find out. 4.8 stars, this book kicks butt. 3.5 stars--Although I did enjoy Flash and Bang, I thought the first in the series was much better. I found Jarrett's overused hillbilly twang to be quite irritating--something I was less aware of in book one--perhaps this was do to reading this book as opposed to listening to the first? Logan tended to repeat the same ideas and phrases which I also found annoying when it occurred chapter after chapter and sometimes multiple times within a chapter.

Still haven't decided if I'm continuing with the next in the series.
