Shows how to take refined sugars, honey, molasses, and brown sugar out of children's mouths, and includes recipes for sugar-free foods with toddler approval ratings for each
Kayla picked this book out at Present Moment Book & Herbs http://www.presentmoment.com/ in Minneapolis in the spring of 1994 after a visit to see Grandma on the farm at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital.
Since Kayla did not yet know how to read, it must have been the pictures she liked. Everyone liked the recipes we tried.
I found the recipes in this book to be a little hit-or-miss, but came away with some good ideas for replacing refined sugar and some creative, healthy snack ideas. I liked the guide in the back that compares the sugar content of many popular toddler foods - very helpful!
good ideas to get you started, but I had to add stuff to most recipes or my kids didn't like it. I usually just add a little honey, to still avoid sugar, but make it a treat.
I like the concept of limiting a baby's refined sugar intake, but just replacing it with apple juice concentrate seems almost as bad. Of the recipes I've made or tried, they are mostly palatable.
