The Others #10

She's No Faerie Princess

Rate this book
Queen Mab's niece, Fiona, has long been bored to tears by the intrigues of Court life. She'd prefer to cut loose at a punk club, knock back a few Thai beers, and hook up with a likely lad of similar interests. But when Fiona goes AWOL, she only gets as far as Manhattan's Inwood Park before a nasty demon nearly puts a permanent crimp in her plans—and a dark stranger sparks her desire...All work and no play make Tobias Walker one cranky werewolf. After six months of doing his part to keep the peace during the delicate negotiations between the Others and humankind, he'd like nothing more than a good night's sleep—preceded by an enthusiastic mating session. The alluring woman he rescues in the park might be the answer to his most lustful prayers, but only if they can both stay alive long enough to find out who wants her dead and why. Now, Fiona and Tobias must unravel a tangled web of treachery that spans branches of the Fae, Other, and mortal worlds, all the while falling into a dangerous attraction that could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship—or the end for them both...

Born and raised in coastal New England, Christine Warren lived in the South and the Mid-Atlantic before hopping to the other side of the country to take up the life of a transplant in the Pacific Northwest. She completely bypassed those states in the middle due to her landlocking phobia. Hmm, need to research a scientific term for that...

When not scrambling frantically to complete her latest writing project, Christine spends most of her time as a crazy animal lady, hanging out with her dog Levi (he’s the one with the hair) and pretending to train him to have some manners. She also hangs out with her horse, Cal—a thoroughbred with a craving for strawberry licorice twists—her goddog, Merlin; and her best friend, fellow author Hannah Murray. In addition to playing with her pets, Christine’s hobbies include identifying dog breeds from photos of their underbellies, appreciating fine and not-so-fine wines, shopping for the perfect pair of Christian Louboutin shoes, and most of all reading things someone else had to agonize over.

She enjoys hearing from readers and can be reached via email sent to Christine@christinewarren.net or by postal mail to Christine Warren, PO Box 871900, Vancouver, WA 98687-1900.

Although this one had all the elements that usually intrigues me in a PNR (paranormal romance), much of the book felt flat and I'm not sure why.

Fiona is a High Sidhe Faerie Princess and niece to Queen Mab of the Seelie Court as well as niece to Dinouu of the Unseelie court. In Warren's world, this puts her in direct line to inherit the throne of either as neither Mab not Dinouu have children. She' not to keen on court intrigue so she breaks Queen Mab's rule on no traveling to the earthly realm for a little R and R. Unfortunately, just after she arrives through the gate, she is attacked by a Demon- something unheard of in all realms for quite some time. At the same time she meets Tobias of the shapeshifting wolf clan who rescues her and takes her home.

There is instant attraction, though ol' Toby wants to deny it. Second only to the Alpha of the clan, babysitting a snooty princess is the last thing he needs as a newly formed council of Others and Humans are just about to ratify a document which would delineate the rights of the Others, the magical creatures whom the humans have long thought gone from their world.

Naturally, people on both human and Other sides do not want to see a successful end to the negotiations. Someone in particular has summoned the demons to do their dirty work and though the author attempts to keep the big bad a mystery throughout the story, it's quite obvious who the guilty party is- at least it was for me and that made it boring enough more than anything for me.

That and the fact I just didn't care about the characters all that much. Oh, they had all the elements I usually enjoy- a strong magical alpha hero and powerful heroine (although admittedly a bit of a pushover where the hero is concerned)- but something felt contrived about their whole relationship and I just couldn't "feel" it. (Him saying "Mine" all the time doesn't make it so. Just sayin.)

She's No Faerie Princess
3.5 Stars

Tired of the intrigue at her aunt Mab's court, Fiona is in dire need of a vacation. Upon her arrival in New York, Fiona is attacked by a demon and rescued by Tobias Walker, a cranky werewolf with better things to do than babysit a faerie princess. In the midst of the negotiations surrounding the unveiling of the Others to humanity, Walker and Fiona must deal not only with rampaging demons and a summoner with nefarious plans for the fae and humanity but with their growing attraction as well.

A light, sexy and funny read.

Fiona and Walker have instantaneous and intense chemistry and their banter is witty and entertaining. Fiona is a feisty, independent and powerful heroine more than capable of defending herself and Walker a sexy and protective alpha who falls hard despite his reservations.

The secondary characters are also well developed and the bickering between Squick and Babbage is particularly entertaining as is the library scene with Missy and Tess.

The world building is better than in Wolf at the Door with more details provided concerning the fae and the demons. The guardian demon Rule is very intriguing and I look forward to his book.

The amulet/summoner plot is the weakest point. Despite its potential, there is no real tension or suspense and the villain is way too obvious. The climax is very good but the ending feels rushed and the obstacles to Fiona and Walker's relationship are glossed over too easily. The result is an unsatisfying conclusion.

On a final note, it seems that I've been reading out of order. This series is preceded by the Fixed books, which have since been re-written and amalgamated into the Others but out of chronological order. I will, therefore, be going back to read the first book One Bite with a Stranger.

I LOVED it (again ;) lol)!!!!!!!! The sex was hot hot HOT!!!, the men were delicious, Fiona was feisty, the action was kick-ass, and the sex, sweet jesus the sex, lets just say no one writes better hot love scenes them Christine Warren!!! ;)
Although I must say that while I loved Walker very very much, Graham still holds my heart above all others and to find out in this that he and Missy have two little boys now made me very happy! :) Walker got a little on my nerves in a few early parts of the book when he was with Graham in Vircolac discussing what to do with Fiona and when Graham said something about taking responsibility or something for her and Walker about lost his temper. He also thought that he considered taking that last step in the chain of dominance just so he would be the only one responsible for her and could have absolute authority in the decision. That kinda bothered me because he would have gotten his ass handed to him on a platter. Torn and bloody. Those were his words on page 80 lol I was just annoyed at him thinking all that stuff and yet he admits he couldn't beat his cousin in a fight. Which he couldn't. Because Graham is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!!!! Lol but I still LOVE Walker :) but seriously, in the end they solved the mortality/immortality issue with him just drinking a lot of her faerie wine? I mean I'm super happy they solved the problem but I kinda wished had been a little bigger and better than that but oh well, I still absolutely loved the book and I can't friggin wait to read the rest :):):)
PS I thought Rule sounded really hot and sexy and muscular and deadly lol ;)

I seem to be finding a pattern in these "paranormal romance" novels.

Take (1) girl (who usual doesn't know she is part vampire/werewolf/other because she is an orphan/changeling) and throw her into the seedy underbelly of an alternative universe that lives right along side us (usually in a big city like New York or Boston).

Take (1) boy (who is a full blooded warrior of said-other society (usually vampire/werewolf or combination of the two)) and allow him to stumble upon girl. Oh he has to have a major damsel in distress complex.

Then ... they have to "discover" each other and immediately forget all societial norms and have hot passionate sex which will lead to the first orgasm the girl has ever had. (Of course right?) Then the boy will realize that he can't be with the girl (something about saving her from his world). But of course, they next to have sex again. He must then push her away only to chase after her. Where upon, she will push him away. This pattern continues for a while with a sprinkling of sex thrown in.

Finally, the boy will realize that she is the missing puzzle piece he's been looking for all his life ... and have sex with her then, screaming "MINE!" at the conclusion. (I don't get the neanderthal complex inherent in these books). She will then declare her undying love and they will have little vampires/werewolves/other until the end of time (because of course he is immortal and has done something to insure that she is too).

And I read these why? Oh yeah ... as Kim would say Vampire Porn.

Really enjoyed this book. Loved the spunky, hard headed Herione, Fiona, the Fae Princess. And our hunky and sexy leading Lupine, Toby, the Alpha's second of the Silverback Clan.
These 2 make a strange love match, more like fire/ice or love/hate. But there's never a dull moment with Fiona around.
This series is getting better each moment and the best moment in this book is when we meet a dark character names Rule...
He's sexy, dark, demon and in the next book he's our leading man.

In the battle of good and evil, this demon is looking REALLY good!

She's no fairie princess

A Fun Read With Two Characters To Cheer For
Christine Warren's second book in The Others series is a better balanced and fleshed out novel than Wolf at the Door, with a stronger narrative and creative world building that enhances the paranormal romance novel's base plot sufficiently enough to lift the book out of the doldrums of been-there-read-that and give it a breath of freshness, even though the world of the series isn't the most original (creatures of myth and legend taking steps to come out to the general public about the truth of their existence).

Fiona is determined to buck her Aunt Mab's wishes...and Fae law...and get the vacation from court life she so desperately needs. She crosses into the human world and comes face-to-cloven hoof with a demon intent on feasting on her heart. Tobias is beta wolf to the silverback pack and pulling double and triple shifts protecting the humans during the sensitive time of negotiations between Other and humans for recognition and protection under the law. When Fiona's scream of terror sends him hurtling into her life, neither one of them quite regain their equilibrium and the world as they know it becomes more and more dangerous and the delicate negotiations are threatened.

Quickly paced with some depth in plot, a strong and independent female protagonist and a sexy alpha male protagonist, She's No Faerie Princess is fun and funny, sexy and sentimental, with surprising depth in emotion in more than one instance. It was also nice to see familiar faces from the first book in the series, and new faces have some intriguing potential. A very good read, and I'm looking forward to the third book in the series, The Demon You Know.

Okay, the title sucks. But don't let the title scare you away. This is a funny, sexy, involved story that's pretty well-written. The main character, Fiona, is the niece of Queen Mab, the ruler of the Seelie Course of Faerie. She is bored with court and all of the intrigues that are a part of being a possible heir, so Fiona sneaks through the gate into the mortal world, popping out in Central Park. Instead of getting to eat hot dogs and hang out at punk clubs, though, Fiona is almost immediately attacked by a demon (which are definitely not common in the mortal world) and ends up being helped by Tobias Walker, a werewolf who works as sort of a supernatural cop.

The romance between Fiona and Walker is set against a political situation and a murder mystery. The Others (i.e. shapeshifters, vampires, and the like) are trying to come out of the closet, so to speak, and are in negotiations for their civil rights with human politicians. Threatening this is a series of murders that look like they've been committed by Others, though with Fiona's help, they discover demon involvement. And since demons must be summoned by sorcerers, Walker and Fiona have to find out who's doing the summoning before the negotiations are derailed.

The mystery could have been handled a bit better, I think; I figured out who the villain was as soon as he popped up in the book, and I like to be tricked by my mysteries. Fiona is a spunky heroine, but she's not so spunky as to make me retch. I have a very low tolerance for spunky heroines, but Fiona is funny enough to sneak in under my radar. Walker is grumpy. Heh. I like him very muchly. The supporting characters could have been developed more; as they are, they're in danger of being characatures (Too Serious Alpha, Spunky Empowered Wife, etc).

The book has its flaws, but the whole package comes together so charmingly that I can forgive the flaws and enjoy the hell out of it. The hot smut probably helps, too, heh.

I'm not going to change my four star rating, because I felt like this was a 4 star book when I read it. However, some elements of the storytelling have caused me to discontinue this series. It's not a bad book or a bad series. It's just too sex-focused for me. I love faerie stories, and I thought the fact that Fiona was a faerie princess was very cool. However, I didn't like the execution in that being a faerie princess became a plot point to string together the numerous sexual encounters in the book. I felt that it was much too intriguing a concept to be used in such a fashion. And, frankly, I didn't feel a strong love bond between the couple. But, that's just me. At the time, I didn't realize that Ms. Warren is coming over from romantica, where the strong sexual content is desired. I have nothing against that, it's just not my thing. When I read romantica, I usually feel like I want more story and less sex, especially when there's a very interesting paranormal/fantasy element that I want to see explored further. So, this book helped me to decide not to read the rest of the series. Having said that, it would work very well for those readers who like a lot of sensual content and an interesting storyline that sort of goes to the sidelines for the sexual relationship/love aspects. This book isn't terribly sexually explicit. It just has a lot of sex in it. I do have to say the climax was well done.

I guess one of the reasons that I love Christine Warren’s book so much is that her “world” is populated with so many wonderful paranormal entities. There are Were-creatures, Vampires, Fae, Demons, Fiends and a wide assortment of humans that interact with them. Ms. Warren also has a wicked sense of humor and the ability to make you cry when there is heartbreak. I loved the interaction between Walker, a werewolf, and Fiona, a high Fae princess. Fiona is a good time girl just wanting to have some fun in the human world. Walker is a serious beta trying to keeping any terrible from happening while the negotiations between Other officials and the Humans are taking place. Neither realizes just how complicated their lives are about to get. I also enjoyed both of them coming to terms with the whole mate thing. I have a weakness for dominant alpha males that just want to keep their mates safe while they beat the stuffing out of the bad guys. I also like feisty females that can stand by there males and try to help with the Fiends that are trying to kill everything. There is a delightful cast of secondary characters some from earlier books and a few are new but all add a feel of family to the story. This is a nice addition to the Other series and I am certainly going to read the other books.

I read this on the trusted recommendation of fellow romance audiobook readers, and it didn't disappoint! With master narrator Kate Reading at the helm, I knew it would be good.

In this story, Faerie Princess Fiona decides to slip away from Faerie and the pressure of the Faerie Court ruled by her aunt, Queen Mab, and take a little punk vacation in Manhattan. She wasn't counting on the demon at the gate trying to eat her heart out, or the Lupine Tobias Walker rescuing her and stealing said heart in a werewolf-mating.

Warren's story-telling is good - she manages to get the world building details tucked in during dialogue and narrative, generally unobtrusively. The plot was suspenseful and I didn't figure out the bad guy too early. The relationship, even with the whole soul-mate-for-werewolves theme, built nicely - great chemistry. There was still a lot of Others details to absorb though - I think my main problem with this genre is how much attention I have to pay to the audio, because I can't flip back to answer my questions about why or how something happened. That detracts from the experience for me.

So, 5 stars for Reading's excellent narration, and 4 stars for the story from me. And I'm still not a paranormal convert.

She's No Faerie Princess was pretty good. Fiona is a Fae princess who is bored and wants to take a vacation. She decides to visit the human world to do this, even though it's forbidden by her aunt, Queen Mab. Walker is a beta lupine of the Silverback Clan. The Others are brokering basic rights with the humans before they are introduced to the populace. Walker is currently on patrol to make sure none of the Others get out of hand while the negotiations are taking place. However, when Fiona crosses over to the human world, demons are determined to kill her.

I have to say that I liked this story better than The Wolf at the Door. I felt the attraction between Fiona and Walker was more genuine and the passion between them was pretty hot. No bland romance here! I liked that Fiona stood up to Walker when the situation warranted. Yes, he's an alpha male, but she could hold her own and she didn't do anything that was stupid. They balanced each other quite nicely. The intrigue concerning the demons attacking humans and, Others alike, was very interesting and took a turn I wasn't expecting. I felt that this book was a nice addition to the series.

3 1/2 stars. Entertaining story of a Fae, Fiona and the Werewolf, Walker, she meets who turns out to be her mate. As if that wasn't enough of a surprise (with the old immortal/mortal issue facing them), they must also figure out why the gates to Faerie are blocked and there are demons running through Manhattan killing humans and Others alike. Then there is Fiona's less than trustworthy uncle, the King of the Unseelie Court taking up residence in New York as well. Meanwhile, the Others are in secret negotiation with humans to let the world know of their existance. Every time the negotiations were mentioned, I couldn't help but think how impossible it would be to get every country of the world to agree to anything, much less stand by that agreement (Kyoto Treaty, anyone?). Even in a story that includes shifters, witches, Fae, demons and vampires, I couldn't suspend that much disbelief, LOL.

I was a bit concerned at first by Walker's constant stompy, snarly behavior towards Fiona when they first meet. But once he gives in to the fact she is his mate, he was much more likeable. Overall, this was a fun entry from Waren.

OIY OIY OIY! I can't get over how amazing this book was. I had read another Others novel before and loved it! (Regina's) This one was different, and it had been a while since I read the last one. Completely worth the read. I slammed through it in about a day and a half. Not too too bad. I cannot wait! to get my hands on every single other Others book in this series, and then maybe some of Christine's others too. Christine Warren's writing is amazing, and the intrigue and characters in her books are heart-stopping sometimes, damn near perfect all of the other times. While this book was graphic and sad in parts, there was also a great sense of love and bonding between the characters (every time I read the word Mate I sigh :) ) , and terrific adventure and humor. I fell in love with the new characters and was very glad to see some of the older ones. I loved Squick, Rule, Tess, Missy, Graham, Walker, Raef,... AND EVERYONE ELSE!, I loved all of the testosterone, the magic and beauty, the passion and the danger. Everything tied together seamlessly and I was thrilled. I'm on my way to go round up more of the series right now! HIGHLY recommended.

She's No Faerie Princess is Book 10 in Christine Warren's Others series. I won the book in a Dirty Santa game at a Christmas party. How the heck I'd missed this author and series before now is a source of "shame" for me now. I had no trouble jumping into the middle of the series. This book was well-written, clear, and clever. The heroine, Fiona, is the niece of both the Seelie and Unseelie court rulers. She's got a mind of her own, hates palace politics and skips blithely into the human world just in time to meet her mate (a werewolf--OOPS!) and tumble into an even deeper intrigue. This was a fun read with both laugh out loud moments, tension, and a bit of sadness. The supporting characters have their own books and I plan to go back to the beginning and catch up.

I can´t remember when I last laughed so much at a book. The dialogue is witty and very modern witch made it very easy for me to connect with the Heroine. I mean a Alpha male is an Alpha male what ever the spices. And Tobias Walker sure is an Alpha even if he is Beta in his pack.

I love all the supporting characters, Missy and Graham, Rafe and Tess...

I also liked the idea with the council trying to get at treaty with the humans that would get the Others same rights as humans.

The only thing that got me a bit confused is that I have read a few of the earlier book (the Fixed series) and some of the characters show up in this book who I read about in an earlier book. So Skip the Fixed series and go straight on to this! The old Fixed-book are being re-written and published under new name in this series. And they sure benefited from some heavy editing.

I like the world this author creates, and the little emphasis on details like the importance of storytellers. I could see the villain's identity coming from a mile away, but the twists of the plot at least made me doubt my conclusions here and there.

The ending felt a little abrupt though, I like my stories to spend a little time relishing the afterglow of a good resolution. This felt a little more like a Scooby Doo episode, with a quick trap and meddling kids, some witty pun and that's the end. The meat of the story more than made up for the quick ending though.

There were also some editing errors throughout the story that I find a little distracting, but they don't slow me down too much.

Overall this was a pretty good book. There was plenty of funny moments in the beginning, but as the story moved on I had a hard time finishing this book.

Part of the problem was that I found some of the plot hard to swallow cheesy. To me the scene with the demon in Central Park (the second time) was one of those moments. I mean come on, "My name is Rule I'm not like the other demons... they're fiends." That just seemed a little stupid to me.

Also I didn't care for the possessiveness of the werewolves. I get you have to protect your mate. But it grew old.

On a side note this is actually book #2 of The Others series. However Christine Warren backtracked and made this book #10. Pretty annoying if you ask me. If anything, go by the publication dates.

This is Christine Warren's second book in The Others series. Like Cynthia Eden's Midnight series there is quite a bit of sex in this book, but the sex here was integral to the story, and told with an intensity and purpose that both stimulated and amused us at the same time.

This is a world of Urban Fantasy. Through 2 books we have been introduced to various types of Shapeshifters, some pack oriented others not so much, Vampires, Witches, Demons, Faeries, Pixies, and Imps. I have enjoyed her mythology and by the end of the second book we have much history revealed and we're learning more each story.

Well Done Christine, I can hardly wait to start the next story.

Fiona a Fae Princess escapes to New York for a vacation to avoid all the court intrigue. She runs into a little demon trouble and Tobias Walker a werewolf who she works with to stop the demons. The Hero is an alpha male and yes, there is the whole "Mine" and Marking issue that I'm getting a little tiered of but it didn't detract from the story or the romance.

Fiona is a really Fun character and a strong female. I laughed out loud a couple times and really enjoyed the book. I'm looking forward to her next book.

The best part of this book were the first two chapters and the last 40 pages. It kind of dragged in the middle. Jeez, they really needed to keep their clothes on. One of the premises was that to keep her magical powers intact in this world, Fiona, a faerie princess, had to tap into her passion. Good thing she found a werewolf lover who could keep up, so to speak. Good-ish story with too much sex.

Finally I found a paranormal romance worth keeping. Only trouble is I have to surrender it to my wifie! Hehe! Excellent story, page-turner, great sex, and never gets boring! =)

Ok, so, y'all already know I think Christine Warren is the queen of paranormal romance, right? Her books (with 2 or 3 exceptions) are fantastic, she has well-rounded characters, her plots are amazing, and she writes multiple species with ease. She completely and single-handedly spearheads my addiction to this genre.

So as I went into reading the 10th book in the series, I was already aware that I was gonna get my socks knocked off. It's a given by now. It's what Christine does. Right?

But.

Y'all, let me tell you.

This one is hands-down the best book I've ever read by Christine Warren. It's the creme de la creme. I don't even know where to start. It is a masterpiece. I could not put it down. My heart was hammering in my chest. I was legitimately wondering if she was gonna kill off some characters. There was teeth-gnashing and fingernail-biting and anxious tea-brewing going on while I read this. I literally ignored people talking to me when I was in the last 50 pages because my desire to read this book so vastly outweighed what they were trying to say to me.

And y'all, I still have like 4 books left in this series, lord have mercy.

I honestly cannot recommend this book more highly. If you haven't even read the Others series and you're OK with reading books out of order, honestly, start with this one. If you stopped reading somewhere in the middle because you got hung up over some of the more priggish male leads (I did, it's ok), pick this one up. If you've never heard of the Others or Christine Warren but you like authors like JR Ward, Katie MacAllister, Christine Feehan--you gotta check this out. You might be a little bit lost in terms of who's who, but I can pretty much guarantee you'll get halfway through this book and find yourself on Thriftbooks adding every single book in this series to your cart because you need them all right now. In case you're wondering, I pulled that stunt sometime last fall and I still have zero regrets. Read it, y'all.

fiona is a faerie princess who slips into the human realm for a vacation from her aunt mab, queen of faerie. walker is a werewolf patrolling the park that contains the gate she came thru. when she gets to the human side, she's chased down by a giant demon and walker rescues her. they find out she cant get back thru the gate, and she cant contact her aunt. but the Others are in the middle of intense negotiations with the humans giving them the same rights as humans when they come out. but someones been summoning demons who are killing humans and making it look like Others did the killing.

-3 stars. its ok. the sex scenes are good. the story has a bit much 'me macho man! tell puny woman what to do!' caveman shit for my tastes. fiona stands up to him, but that's just not an attractive trait in a man. and in the end a whole floor of humans are killed and there's no mention of how they're going to cover that up or explain that to the humans. they're so worried about the humans finding the first human bodies, and now there's a whole shitton of them and its fine.

"you're the one with the magic powers and pointy ears, which makes you fae. and you're also the one who told me you're mab's niece, which makes you a princess. so how am i the jerk for calling you what you are?"
"i don't know, you're the son of a bitch, so why don't you tell me why word choice makes a difference?" (he's a werewolf, she's a faerie princes)

"tell mab her baby niece wound up naked on my sofa half-eaten by a demon? i'm not that flavor of stupid."

"stranger things have happened. every thursday and twice on sundays."

wasn't sure about this one.

I kniw at the very start of this we began with 5 friends doing dare dates which is how Reggie - or Regina as she goes by now- began with book one. what puzzles me us that Ava still hasn't had a story about ger yet. ..I'm probably writing this and the next book involves her!!

The reason I bring this up as we just lost the packs beta Lucas who became Alpha of hus own pack to be with his mate. Obviously this brought a new beta - Tobias Walker. I don't remember really reading much about him so I found it hard to identify his character.

And he was a grouchy, angry, hostile wolf for much of the beginning of the book so, not only do I have a character I don't jnow- my first impressions are the above. And I couldn't shake them. He seemed to be ..more wolf than man when it came to taking Fiona as a mate, another factor that didn't sit very well. In previous books I've been able to connect with characters and even when they're totally new like the Tigers - I felt the caring, softness and love.

I just didn't feel it here and even tho the storyline was good - having Princess Fiona come thru to the human world from faerie for a vacation. only when she got her she was greeted with a demon....shortly followed by the attacking yet automatically protecting the girl, Walker. But as soon as that threat is gone he makes it extremely clear he wants her back in faerie asap.

ok so I get that he's trying to distance himself from her by beung sullen and harsh but.....not as enjoyable as the other books, sorry Ms Warren

I started this book, as I tend to read a lot of paranormal romance, and especially anything to do with wolves, werewolves, Shifters, etc... however, if Warren considers this "romance", I wonder what she calls Penthouse Forum?
Although this was not nearly as crude as that, it was still way to sexually focus and, yes, crude, in my opinion, and that was only after reading the first few chapters!! I scanned through more of the book and determined that it wasn't going to change much, and called it quits. A paranormal book with smatters of sex, I'm fine. A paranormal book that seems to focus almost entirely on the amount of sex shoved between the pages--written quite, yes I'll use the word again, crudely--I have no time or interest in.

Was glad for Walker & Fiona.

Although there was no rape in this book; in the light of what has been happening lately with the "MeToo" movement it makes me uneasy about these kinds of alpha males. Walker & his "mine" kind of unnerved me . I understand protection & wanting to protect the woman; but in parts of the book; he seemed like a bully. Women are not owned nor are they possessions but it seemed as if Walker felt he owned Fiona. She was a strong figure & could stand on her own. If she had not been I can see him being a bully & treating his mate like shit.

Just my observation.

2.5 stars.
While 'She's No Faerie Princess' was an improvement over the other Christine Warren I've read ('The Demon You Know', #11 in The Others series), it's still not great. The character's are two dimensional and the plot wasn't interesting.
I specifically wanted to read this book because Fiona was Fae. As a lover of fae folklore, it was depressing to quickly discover that, other than her looks and her unimpressive magic, Fiona wasn't much of a fae at all!

If this is the quality of Christine Warren's work then I'm amazed her series have lasted this long.
