But try as she might, she can't get a handle on the vampire lifestyle and all the...blood. Turning her back on the vamp world, she embraces the human teenage lifestyle-high school, peer pressure and finding a boyfriend. Jared manages to stir something in her blood. He's smart and fun and oh, so cute. But Tessa's dream of a having the perfect boyfriend turns into a nightmare when vampires attack the movie theatre and kidnap her date. Once again, Tessa finds herself torn between the human world and the vampire one. Will blood own out? Can she make peace with who she is as well as what? Vampire in Distress Who you are on the inside is more important that what you are on the outside... But not when you?re fated to be a lab rat for the rest of your life. Sixteen-year-old Tessa, a vampire with weird throwback human genes, is an outsider in both worlds. Always the odd one. Now, imprisoned in a blood farm, she fights to free herself and rejoin her family and friends. Especially one young male vamp. Cody, eighteen and the youngest of the long line of ancient flyer vampires, wants Tessa back at his side where she belongs - even as he struggles with conflicting emotions about his best friend's kid sister-turned-hottie. Jared, the cute human who'd befriended Tessa, is relieved to be rescued and wants to see the trussed-up, drugged humans in the warehouse taken care of. Only he's freaked that the people who rescued him are vampires...and then he finds out the truth about Tessa... Thankfully, the rescue team comes to take over the warehouse and rescue the victims... or have they? Vampire in Design Left behind. Scared. And getting really pissed off. Tessa and her friends were supposed to be on their way home. On their way to safety. Instead she wakes up alone, with her friends kidnapped. Targeted and hunted, Tessa goes on the attack, desperate to find her friends and family. But her attackers want her throwback genes and will do anything to have her locked down in their lab. Caught in a dangerous maze, Cody is torn between helping his fellow captives and finding Tessa. He's young to have the connection that's growing between him and his best friend's sister. But any future they might have is in jeopardy if they can't stop the blood farm from taking over the humans...and his people. Jared is free at last, but he can't stop thinking about what he went through at the blood farm and those who helped him. Then he finds out something personal that so horrifying, he has to act...even if it means walking back into the place he swore to never return. These three need to be strong...the war is far from over...and they are right in the middle of it.

Wonderful

This was a wonderful, superbly written first three books in this series. A lot of awesome vampires doing lots of ass kicking, and possibly falling in love. It's hard to fight a battle when at times you don't even know who is the bad, or good guy's.

It's great watching Tessa gain confidence, and in come into her own. She's really changed a lot, for the better.

The last book ended on a cliffhanger, so I need to get the next bundle of books in the series. This in my opinion this is an excellent series to read. It's full of great characters, who are very relatable, and likeable. Of course I have only read the first three books, but I hope they stay this good. So far I recommend this series.

Family Blood Ties Books 1-3

Vampire in Denial - Book 1
Tessa is part human and her vampire side appears to be the more recessive gene. She goes to a human school but does take some classes at the vampire one. She can walk in daylight and doesn't exhibit many vampire traits. At least she doesn't until a date goes terribly wrong.

There are two men that will play an important role in this book. The first is Jared who was walking her home when the vampires attacked. They leave her injured and take Jared.

Her family was less than helpful other than to call a Council meeting. Tessa needs to find Jared and they way to do that is to infiltrate that meeting to collect clues. She makes some radical changes to her appearance and proceeds do her own version of hunt.

Tessa recognizes one of the attackers and goes to wait for him to leave, it's then that Cody, her brother David's best friend finds her. Cody will become very important, not only to the tale but to Tessa as well.

What Tessa and Cody discover is both gruesome and against the human/vampire treaty. Her parents Council member Serus and her mother Rhia both ancient vampires enter this frightening and intense search for Jared. They are joined by their son David, his girlfriend Jewel and a couple other friends Ian, Wendy and Jacob. Cody's father Goran, another ancient vampire also gets involved. The implications of what happened are reminiscent of another time, another war.

Plenty of intrigue and action as this story unfolds and a possible romance begins with Cody and Tessa in an unusual way.

I'm really glad all the books in this series are out, this cliff-hanger had my buying the next book right away. There's also a prequel I didn't see at first, I'm going need that one too.

Vampire in Distress - Book 2
Two very important things happened at the end of the first book, one was the discovery of Moltere hanging like the humans in that warehouse. Moltere was their prime suspect, now they had no idea who could be running this place. Second, Tessa had been sleeping in a bed next to Jared when she disappears. No one knows what happened or where she is other than Cody found a syringe on the floor by the bed. That leaves the question of how did they get in and then out with Tessa.

Now Tessa's guards are concerned, first she got sick and second she's not waking up. Although that wasn't exactly true, she was pretending to be asleep and listening to every word they said. When they leave she gets free and heads in the opposite direction of their energy.

In the meantime, Cody and Ian find the passage they think was used to take Tessa and follow it, finding nothing but a possible exit streaming daylight and beyond a marshy area with no footprints they head back. Only to be knocked out briefly. Goran, Serus and David went the other direction, to where they came in. Then covering up and dashing to the house they first searched for Jared but found Cody and Jewel. They find themselves locked in but search to be sure they haven't missed anything before returning to the warehouse.

Jared wakes up and Rhea explains what had happened and also that Tessa has been kidnapped. He's a bit shocked to find out Tessa is a vampire. He doesn't know who to trust, that vampires did this doesn't inspire trust in the ones around him.

When the doctors and support teams show up, Jared freaks out and runs.

I sort of feel sorry for Jared, but he does eventually pull it together.

Tessa manages to get away and to a safe spot where once darkness falls Goran and her father can pick her up. In the meantime things are off in many ways down in the warehouse.

Tessa discovers unconscious people in a van that should have been transporting the rescue crews, adding even more suspense to this already tense tale. She also decides enough is enough and calls in everyone she can think of both human and vampire to help.

Plenty of funny moments as well as tense ones as this story progresses. There is another cliffhanger but that's okay because this is a completed series. I'm off to start the next book!

Vampire in Design - Book 3

When we left Tessa she was heading home with David, Jewel, Ian Cody and the counsel member their father trusted. She didn't know him or the driver. She falls asleep and when she wakes, she's alone in the car. There's no sign of anyone and there is really nowhere to hide then she remembers something she saw when she first awoke. Not a jet stream but their energy.

While Tessa is trying to find her brother and friends, Jared gets some visitors, the police of course and his Aunt. He's pretty sure his Uncle sold him to the blood farm but he'd have to prove it.

Jewel and Cody wake from the drugs first and manage to get free of their bindings. The other two wake while they are untying them. In a typical mistake the room they are in isn't locked so they start looking for Tessa. What find is more vampires including the Counselman who was with them all drugged but the Counselman is on a different type of machine.

Serus and Goran realizing the kids are missing AGAIN, head back to the blood farm, they also need to find Taz.

In the meantime Tessa gets closer to where the guys and Jewel are being held, and having some interesting thoughts regarding Cody.

There are so many things going on from so many different angles. You just won't be able to stop reading.

Jared gets involved again, more information on who's doing what to who and some interesting weapons come to light.

Plenty of action, some tears and yes, a cliffhanger. Off to read the next one!

Blah,blah...blah. blah-blah, blah....... Freaking blah!

This is the first 1-3 books..... #1 was decent .... Good plot, fun characters....even reasonable and exciting struggles! ThE next book I tried so hard to finish it just pissed me off.
LEAVE THE DAMN PLACE!!!! I kept screaming ! The plot simply got more and more boring. Never changing locations when in fact these Vampires are willingly running in circles and the author continuously refers to this scenario... But it so frustratingly BAD. I'm so ergh I cannot communicate how poorly executed this book was.

Wow, I am doing a re-read of this series and I think I love it more the second time around. I love how Tessa grows from an insecure girl to a bad ass vampire that can take on anyone who goes after her family and friends!

Vampire in Denial By Dale Mayer
Family Blood Ties Series Book One
Tessa is an oddity, what they called a throwback. She just felt like a sixteen-year-old suspended between two worlds and not fitting in either one. A girl in a family of vampires who had human genes. When the guy she likes is kidnapped by her own kind, Tessa finds what she is really made of.

Cody is from one of the oldest pureblood families and Tessa’s family is like his own, she’s always been like a little sister. The night she goes to rescue her human friend he sees a whole new side to her. Little Tessa has grown up.

It takes a young girl to get the old vampires going out of their comfort zone to help find out what is going on in their world. Beyond humans being kidnapped it looks like evil mischief is happening as well. A well written and page turning story. Warning...it does end with quite the cliffhanger but the good news is that book two; Vampire in Distress, is already out there for you to continue the journey. Sian’s Solution is a short story that introduces the series.

Vampire in Distress By Dale Mayer
Family Blood Ties Book Two
The war continues between the good vampires and those running the blood farm. And it seems humans might be involved as well. As Tessa gathers people to go and rescue her friend Jared, nothing seems to go right. They fine one person just to lose another.

It soon becomes apparent they cannot trust anyone but their small group. And it also seems that Tessa’s vampire heritage is stepping up for her when she needs it the most. The sixteen-year-old girl from just a few days ago is not now nor will ever be the same. And it looks like the war has just begun.

The previous books in this series are Sian’s Solution and Vampire in Denial. The next book is Vampire in Design. The books definitely end with cliffhangers but the good news at this point is...the next one is published, so no having to wait around.

Vampire in Design By Dale Mayer
Family Blood Ties Series Book Three
The battle between good vampires, bad vampires and the unknown human factor continues to play out. I love how the author jumps around on the point of views in this story. We see through the eyes of Tessa, Cody and Jared’s eyes and more. Each one is fighting their own battle in a different area. And yet it all blends together beautifully in the story.
Once again it’s hard to see who is good and who is evil. So they have to approach each situation with their eyes and senses wide open. Great stories that keeps the reader turning the page and if you are a visual reader, on your toes and ready to see what is around the next corner. Most likely something very unexpected. As with the previous books this also ends with a cliffhanger but thankfully Vampire in Deceit is already out there for you to purchase and see what happens.

Another must read

As the story continues into book three the characters are still trying to fight their way out of the blood farms and back to each other.
Jared being the only teenager to have made it out is now battling with being alone and no one believes him. He tries to think of someone else who he can contact who might have hard from Tessa. While walking around he accidentally finds himself walking home the one place he dare not go sense he truly believe his uncle played a role in his kidnapping. Whilst there he over hears a conversation between his uncle and his uncle's sister in which they discuss how they sold Jared father there 10yrs prior. Jared is shocked he has no one to turn to except Tessa family so he goes to her house and finds her oldest brother Seth is planning to go up to the farm so he agrees to let Jared ride along.
Meanwhile Tessa and her family and friends have fought and battled so many vampires at this second holding facility they are exhausted but they are together. Cody has realized that he and Tessa can mentally communicate something extremely rare among vampires. They have confessed feeling for each other. Now as the last battle is wound down Tessa can't find Cody.

Family Blood Ties Set 3 in 1

In this three book set Tessa a unique half human/vampire has never felt she had a real place in the vampire nor human world. When her friend is kidnapped, she organizes a rescue party to find him. As the hunt begins Tessa finds out she has very unnatural vampire abilities. Instead of being shy and afraid, she becomes one with herself and is a force to be reckoned with. Her and her family and friends find more than they bargained for when they find Tessa's friend. The young banned with the old to stop a war before it starts. Dale Mayer did a fantastic job drawing me in from the first chapter. Looking forward to reading more from the series.

I had read some of the Psychic series first and so, I was expecting something a little bit along those lines when I opened up this book.
The main character is a teenager so, the story has that kind of a mind set and vibe to it. It's actually well done from that point of view, but it's not something I am into really enjoying.

also the never ending drama gets old really fast so, I am surprised that I did finish this. but, I am not going to buy anymore more of the series.

Exciting series

Loved this series. Fast paced action from the beginning. The set of characters are young and old. It will appeal to lots of different ages. These vampires have differences from regular ones , so not so typical reading . !ove it. I am purchasing the next book right now. Can't wait.

Wow

Poor Tessa was always looked at as different. Her parents are vampires but she somehow id's only half a vampire. She has always felt different and felt distant from the vampire community. That is until her friend is kidnapped when they were walking home. She learns she may be more vampire than even she thinks

Good storyline

I was really surprised and impressed by this series. I loved the concepts and the way the vampire species were depicted; they were traditional but with some new traits for some. I liked that the first 3 books were all together so I didn't have to stop reading. I did find one typo or grammatical error in each book but I still really enjoyed the books themselves.
