my officemate, a creative writing degree holder who is at present writing his own erotica, lent me this book. and this is what i told him about ms. bright's anthology: the problem with reading anais nin before getting introduced to the erotic lit of other authors is the "standard" gets set too high. almost everything pales by comparison. because with nin, the prose is positively brimming with sex. it really feels like literary prostitution. nin has, i think, jaded me to most erotic pieces. but i loved the first story in this collection, about the 28-year-old virgin explaining herself. and i remember the stories "scent" and "the blowfish." but remembering them isn't equal to liking them. so... two stars.

This is the book that got me started reading erotica. This series is consistently the best of the genre that I like to call literary smut.
This edition is consistently good - my favorite story is "Ten Seconds to Love" by Michelle Tea. Yes, it's about Motley Crue.
