SHE TRIED TO BE A LADY When her Montana cousin wrote that his three grown sons could use a lady's influence, headstrong Genevieve Heller left Boston on the next train. Pretending to be a prim and proper Massachusetts miss, the strawberry-blond beauty set out to tame the unruly westerners... especially the infuriating Sterling, who managed to fill her head with very unladylike notions! His broad shoulders made her dream of tender embraces; his strong hands made her yearn for intimate caresses; and the knowing look in his turquoise gaze made her want to slap the arrogance right off his handsome face!
BUT HE WAS NO GENTLEMAN Sterling knew there was more to their unwanted houseguest than simpering smiles and mindless chatter. No woman with hair that glorious color could be as meek as Miss Genevieve Heller wanted to seem. He meant to uncover the real Genny... right down to that luscious, creamy skin. His kisses would fill her with sweet fire, his touch would sear her with passion's heat. And he'd melt her eastern heart with his wild Montana Magic
Montana Magic was just what I needed and what I was looking for. It made me laugh, weep, sigh and frown, and it always brought something unexpected. The story didn't go at all like I'd imagined it would and that was a nice surprise. There are a few moments in the book when the story turns a little slow, but it always managed to keep me interested and wondering what would happen next. Not a masterpiece, but I enjoyed reading it so much I couldn't give it any less than 5 stars.
No rating, DNF after a few chapters. I absolutely love this book cover!! Unfortunately that was the only thing I loved.
This story contains my least favorite type of historical romance FMC: anti-feminine, progressive liberal. She thought it was disgusting that the three adult sons of the house were enamored of her and were bending over backwards to help her out around the house while she was pretending to be a helpless female. The first few chapters she’s moaning and groaning non-stop about this too.
Had this FMC been a bit more middle-of-the-road and less of a femininity hater, I think it would have been a cute story!
I need to do a standard review that I can copy and paste from book to book. This is another book that’s been on my shelf for years that I saved as a favorite. It was okay but not as great as I recalled. Too much miscommunication and strife between the main characters, but of course has the all’s well and forgiven and happily ever after ending.
the poor female lead. all she wants is to be taken seriously as a person and not forced in the box that women of the time were forced into (and no, she's not anti-feminine or anti-woman) and everyone around her wants to change her or force her into marriage.
(if you hate the female lead you hate women, no I will not hear arguments against this!)
Wonderful book. Takes quite a while to truly reach the romance aspect if the "romance novel" title. But, you really do need all that time to set everything up. I can't really say anything without spoiling this. It is just 100% worth the time to read. I loved it.
Dude, to spend the whole book hyping up how smart Genny is and then end the book like that was a crime. Sterling is literally the biggest douche bag on earth for retraumatizing her with a 2nd kidnapping. She should have dumped his ass and married Pa. Good lord.
