Dowiedziałam się o istnieniu tej książki dzięki burzy, która rozpętała się na stronie wydawnictwa - w wyniku zorganizowanej akcji profil facebookowy Dwóch Sióstr zalały wypowiedzi śmieszne i przede wszystkim straszne ludzi podających się za katolików i rodziców, zarzucających wydawnictwu szerzenie ideologii LBTG (pisownia oryginalna), gender, demoralizowanie dzieci i przede wszystkim kłamstwo, bo "jestem matką/ojcem/dziadkiem trojga/czworga/dwojga dzieci i żadne dziecko takich pytań nie zadaje!!!" - i żądających podania wydawnictwa do prokuratury.
Gdy pokazałam mojemu dziesięcioletniemu dziecku te komentarze i parę skanów pytań z książki, popatrzyło na mnie z niedowierzaniem: "Jak to, przecież my zadajemy takie pytania. Bo to jest ciekawe! Kup tę książkę, mamo".
Kupiłam więc. Obie jesteśmy zachwycone. Córka istotnie zabawnymi rysunkami i wyjaśnieniami tematów, których jeszcze same nie poruszałyśmy lub nie omawiałyśmy aż tak szczegółowo, ja wyczerpującym i poważnym potraktowaniem podejmowanych tematów oraz naciskiem kładzionym przez autorkę na "nie rób drugiemu, co tobie niemiłe" i "trzeba zawsze upewnić się, że druga osoba się zgadza". Jestem zbudowana rzeczowym potraktowaniem kwestii różnych orientacji seksualnych - i tym smutnym polskim dodatkiem do rozdzialiku o adopcji dzieci przez pary homoseksualne (skądinąd to odpowiedź na niedawne pytanie mojej córki).
I jestem zachwycona tym, że to pytania dzieci, ciekawych świata i myślących - tak bardzo dziecięce, że się bardziej nie da. I tym, że odpowiedzi nie krążą wokół tematu, ale wykładają kawę na ławę: jasno, prosto, rzeczowo - fakty, biologia i uczucia. Fakty, biologia i uczucia nie są wulgarne, chyba że człowiek nada im taki wydźwięk. Zarzut ten - wulgaryzowania biologii i uczuć - można postawić tylko ludziom, którzy twierdzą, że to tematyka nie nadająca się dla dzieci u progu dojrzewania.
A jeśli dzieci tych ludzi atakujących wydawnictwo nie zadają takich pytań - to znaczy tylko tyle, że nie zadają takich pytań IM - bo nie mają do nich zaufania. Jak powiedziało moje dziecko: "Te dzieci rozmawiają o tym z kolegami, tak jak my, ale rodziców nie zapytają. Bo się boją, że rodzice na nie nakrzyczą".
Niech więc podsumuje moja córka:
"Ta książka jest dla fajnych rodziców, którzy są trochę leniwi.
No bo są fajni, że chcą rozmawiać z dziećmi o takich rzeczach, ale są leniwi, więc kupują im tę książkę".
Ehm.
Gdy pokazałam mojemu dziesięcioletniemu dziecku te komentarze i parę skanów pytań z książki, popatrzyło na mnie z niedowierzaniem: "Jak to, przecież my zadajemy takie pytania. Bo to jest ciekawe! Kup tę książkę, mamo".
Kupiłam więc. Obie jesteśmy zachwycone. Córka istotnie zabawnymi rysunkami i wyjaśnieniami tematów, których jeszcze same nie poruszałyśmy lub nie omawiałyśmy aż tak szczegółowo, ja wyczerpującym i poważnym potraktowaniem podejmowanych tematów oraz naciskiem kładzionym przez autorkę na "nie rób drugiemu, co tobie niemiłe" i "trzeba zawsze upewnić się, że druga osoba się zgadza". Jak powiedziało moje dziecko: "Te dzieci rozmawiają o tym z kolegami, tak jak my, ale rodziców nie zapytają. Bo się boją, że rodzice na nie nakrzyczą".
Niech więc podsumuje moja córka:
"Ta książka jest dla fajnych rodziców, którzy są trochę leniwi.
No bo są fajni, że chcą rozmawiać z dziećmi o takich rzeczach, ale są leniwi, więc kupują im tę książkę".

I was disappointed by this. It has been heralded as a super liberal and open minded sex and body book for kids. I found it still quite narrow minded, safe, judgmental and lazy in its language.
The pictures were cheesy and too white and heteronormative too.

Den er bedre end “Hvad er sex?”
Den havde 5 spørgsmål/punkter der synliggøre forskellige aspekter eller spørgsmål omkring at være homoseksuel og hvordan sex mellem to af samme køn fungerer.
Den havde antagelse af nogle linjer om at være på ACE spektrum.
Hvis denne bog er bygget på spørgsmål fra børn der befinder sig i skolen, så afspejler bogen, hvordan voksne mennesker underviser i seksualundervisning.
Bogen har et stort fokus på at være heteroseksuel og kærligheden mellem mand og kvinde, hvordan børn og graviditet fungerer.
Jeg blev ikke klogere, jeg synes det er en okay Bog men den var ikke inkluderede og mangfoldigt nok til min smag.
Jeg ønsker og savner sådan en bog🤷

Quizá soy demasiado adulta para valorar este libro, pero me ha faltado algo sutil en este libro, y eso es lo que a mí me mueve.
Lo que más me ha gustado ha sido el abanico de preguntas y respuestas sin tapujos. La sencillez de las explicaciones. El deseo de querer contar las cosas sin vergüenza y con naturalidad. Creo que eso no es fácil y está muy logrado.
Lo que menos me ha gustado son las viñetas, su colocación con los textos y el orden de las preguntas, por el lado de la edición. Por el lado del contenido, no me ha gustado la mirada binaria de la identidad de género, y un regusto androcéntrico que habría que pulir en algunas explicaciones. Se ve que lo intentan, pero muy feminista el libro tampoco es.
En cualquier caso, mejor tener algo en casa para la chiquillería que no tener nada... Creo.

A completely mature, respectful, and helpful book about all the weird questions kids (and sometimes teens and adults) have about bodies. From reproduction, to puberty, to sexuality and gender, to masturbation and sex--this book answers some pretty awkward questions in a very heathly manner. I totally appreciated how the author and artist normalized so many different topics! Even asexuality was addressed.
The pictures depicted show naked bodies, but nothing in a graphic sense. If two characters are having sex, the picture is usually them under the covers and it just looks like they're cuddling. They did a VERY good job--the author AND artist!
As soon as your kid hits puberty, I feel like they're plenty old enough to read and understand the topics of this book. If they're uncomfortable reading about it, they can skip over and come back when they're ready. Bodies are normal and funny and weird, and it's nice to feel normal asking about them.

Funny, and probably sufficiently informative for primary school children. I wish the author would've written more about unwanted pregnancies/abortions and sexually transmitted diseases.
This book does a solid job of including asexual people, but is definively very heteronormative and most of the illustrations feature white people.

An excellent introduction to human sexuality, with just enough information to quench the thirst for preliminary information about sex for preteens and younger children.
First published in Germany in 2014, sex educator von der Gathen offers frank answers to 99 questions posed by children about human sexual organs, sex, and sexuality. Her answers are to the point and honest, in language that can be understood by children as young as age 6. She is clinical and objective in her answer to each question, offering a straightforward answer while also mentioning in some that other adults/countries/cultures may hold a different opinion. She addresses several questions regarding LGBTQ+ and consensual sex both directly and also within other questions not specific to this topic. Most answers are 1-2 paragraphs long, with a few having bulleted lists. Each question has just enough information to answer questions that a child might have, without getting too technical in the process.
The format of the 7" x 9" book is a bit unusual, as it opens with the spine up; questions are on the bottom of a page with the illustration - readers turn the page up to see the answer on the back of that page and the next question below. There is no table of contents, glossary, or index, however the list of the 99 questions in the back of the book makes this a useful book for reference purposes.

Gosh! I wish I'd this book when I was growing up. Originally published in Germany, it boasts a collection of 99 questions about sex posed by real youngsters. Each question is listed on one page, accompanied by a drawing, and then on the next page, the question is repeated with a forthright response. Perhaps I read a different version than the reviewers who were bothered by the judgmental attitude they saw in its contents since to my way of thinking, there seemed to be little judgment about the question being asked, and the answers were easy to understand. Many of the images are funny, and readers will surely come away from the book feeling that sex is normal, healthy, and that bodies change at different rates. As one of those late bloomers, knowing this and having it affirmed by the book would have reassured me. It might be good to hand this to someone on the verge of puberty as a preparation for the changes that will bring.

Sometimes sex is easier to talk about in another language. And this book, translated from the original German, is delightfully straightforward in the main. The intro clearly states that you may need a trusted adult for further conversation, but each question is answered seriously and with the feeling that all judgment has literally been sucked out of the room.
Promotes positive body image, does not entertain the idea of shame, although modesty or shyness are acknowledged, and is reasonably trans-friendly with a few moments of extraneous gender references.

Lieliska grāmata, kurā apkopoti 100 bērnu iesūtīti jautājumi par kutelīgām tēmām - seksu, pubertāti, grūtniecību, ķermeni u.c. Autore, kas ir arī dzimumaudzināšanas skolotāja, atklāti atbildēja uz bērnu jautājumiem. Atceros kā pamatskolā skolotāja sarka un bālēja, kad klasesbiedri nekautrējās uzdot līdzīgus jautājumus. Nopietna tēma, uz kuru bērniem ir jāsaņem izsmeļoša un skaidra atbilde, un šī grāmata atbild kodolīgi un saprotami.
Ja esat pubertāti sasniegušu bērnu vecāki, tad šī grāmata kā reiz būs ļoti noderīga un izglītojoša.

Excellent sex education books for kids. The format is questions written by children and a simple explanation in terms adolescents can understand. Covers the basics of sex, LGBTQI, rape, masturbation and anatomically correct labels.

Unfortunately this did not live up to the hype. The explanations are quite simple & assumes heterosexuality as 'the norm'. Most of the questions are too generalised.

In het voorwoord schrijft Katharina von der Gathen dat de vragen daadwerkelijk door kinderen van de basisschool gesteld zijn. Ze mochten hun vraag op een papiertje schrijven en in een doos doen. Zonder hun naam erbij te schrijven. De belofte was: Op alle vragen komt een antwoord. De belangrijkste vragen kun je terugvinden in dit blok - het boek slaat namelijk open als een kladblok -.
De vragen zijn heel gevarieerd, en vaak heel rechtstreeks. Je kunt het zo gek niet bedenken of het wordt wel gevraagd.
Zo vraagt een kind bijvoorbeeld: Hoe lang wordt een piemel? - De tekening daarbij is overigens geweldig, je ziet een jongen staan met een piemel die als een boa constrictor om zijn lijf gekronkeld zit. - Het antwoord is serieus, direct en helder.
Mooie vragen zijn ook:
- Waarom wordt een vagina poes genoemd. (Ook hier is de bijbehorende afbeelding weer geweldig. )
- Waarom hangen borsten naar beneden?
- Moet je van seks lachen?
- Wanneer doen ze het eigenlijk?
- Kun je met je billen of met je oor ook seks hebben?
- Kan een baby in de buik een scheet laten?
- Waarom doet een bevalling zo zeer?
- Hoe komt melk uit de borsten?
- Kan een oma kinderen krijgen? (met een afbeelding van een hoogzwangere zeer oude vrouw met wandelstokje)
- Kunnen kinderen homo zijn?
- Kun je onder water vrijen
- Waarom word je verlegen als je iemands penis of vagina ziet?
- Schamen mensen zich niet als ze seks hebben?
En zo zijn er in totaal 101 vragen rond onderwerpen als hormonen, seks, kinderen krijgen, pubertijd en puberteit enz. Soms staan het briefje met de vraag erbij afgebeeld inclusief doorhalingen en fouten. (kunne dieren hoomoo zijn?, Hoe groot is een zaatje? Zijn kinderen slim na de geboorten?)
Op alle vragen wordt een kort, serieus en deskundig antwoord gegeven. De gekleurde afbeeldingen erbij zijn erg humoristisch, het maakt dat je regelmatig met een brede grijns zit te lezen. Omdat de vragen zo speels gebracht worden, is het ook makkelijker om de verlegenheid en taboesfeer rond dit onderwerp te overwinnen.
Kortom een uitstekend bokje/blok voor kinderen vanaf 8 jaar die een eerlijk en goed antwoord op al hun vragen willen hebben.

Lieliskas, asprātīgas, patiesas un vienkāršas atbildes uz jautājumiem, ko ne vienmēr ir tik vienkārši atbildēt. Bērniem, bērnu vecākiem un tikumības sargiem iesakāma grāmata.
