This intimate portrait of living legend B.B. King celebrates the blues singer and guitarist with 75 color and black-and-white photos, facsimile reproductions of items from his personal archive, and--similar to the popular "The Sinatra Treasures"--an audio CD featuring unreleased music and interviews.
B. B. King (born Riley B. King) was an American blues guitarist and singer. Widely considered one of the greatest and most respected blues guitarists of all time, and is possibly the most recognizable name in the blues genre.
Intersting snippets from the long career of B. B. King. Book includes some fun memorabilia reproductions - old tickets, programs from early shows, ledgers showing payments and sharecroppers records.
I will forever regret never seeing B. B. King in person. Sigh.
This book consists of many interesting and ingenious ways of explaining the early blues, as well as common problems found in the life of African-Americans in the Deep South. B.B.’s life is uncommonly interesting and doesn’t allow you to get bored, even in his early life. As you read you get more and more into it. David Ritz gives you the feeling of knowing King first hand. From his personal life, to his deepest troubling issues, it’s all revealed in a timely and attention grabbing format. As you read you also see how B.B. changed many people’s views of blacks and how many portrayed with their work ethic. I found the book to be a highly interesting and intriguing book that anyone could read and enjoy. Some irrelevant parts I thought could’ve been left out, but overall a very good read.
If you are a fan of the man and his music, you will enjoy this book. It gives a good overview of his career and his music. The photos and the memorabilia reproductions are the star of this book.
