This is a delightful international romp through the possibilities of rice. Nearly all of the recipes are a single page, so they are very simple. As a British published work, the measurements are given in metric and imperial. There is a collection of recipes for each of the types of rice- that are covered in very short order to introduce the many varieties possible, around the world. From salad, soups, snacks, entrees, sides, and desserts- there is a way to experience the flavors of Africa, Asia, and Europe. I appreciated that a few of the dishes are several ways to make the same type of dish, such as rice pudding. The twist on old standards was a lovely culinary adventure for me.

I am very glad I found this because I am always looking for more ways to eat well.

This book stressed me out! I think it was a combination of unfamiliar ingredients with no explanation, recipes from all over the world jumbled together, the deal that all the recipes are a lot of work and dishes, and that Emily Kydd is British, so the first measurement listed was always in unfamiliar units. It was too much.

I am a rice-eater down to my toes, so I was not expecting rice recipes to be stressful. If you’re feeling bold, I mean, she does have an impressive selection. This would be a good resource if you are doing a world unit study and need recipes for jollof rice from Africa or biryani from Persia.

This is a lovely book. I have always loved rice and look for ways to prepare it differently. It is beautifully illustrated and would be a great gift. There are two recipes I've especially enjoyed -- the Upside Down Rice Cake (a lovely presentation dish and tasty besides) and the South-Indian lemon rice.

A nice cookbook featuring rice in its glory. Beautiful pictures, but only a few recipes I’m willing to try.
