Amanda Conner started out in comics working small projects for Marvel and Archie while working as an illustrator for New York ad agencies Kornhauser and Calene and Kidvertisers. working a number of launches and campaigns such as Arm & Hammer, PlaySchool and Nickelodeon.

However, loving comic books and cartooning the most, Amanda found herself working for Marvel on their Barbie line (much of Amanda’s covers inspired designs for the line of Barbie toys), Disney line which included the Gargoyles books. At the same time she was illustrating “Soul Searchers & Co.” for Claypool Comics and worked on other Marvel projects, such as Excalibur for the X-Men line and “Suburban Jersey Ninja She-Devils”.

During an assignment for Crusade (‘Tomoe’) she and Jimmy Palmiotti became a real team as penciller/inker.

Amanda then moved on to do what is probably one of her best known works. She did several years as penciller on the hit series “Vampirella” for Harris Comics and drafted 24 issues. While illustrating “Vampirella”, Amanda worked with the top writers in the field, Grant Morrison, Mark Millar and Warren Ellis.

Continuing to expand her horizons, Amanda illustrated the best-selling crossover “Painkiller Jane vs. the Darkness”, and went on to work on “Painkiller Jane” #0 (the origin book). She also wrote and illustrated a story for “Kid Death and Fluffy”.

Since then, Amanda has worked on many of the top titles in comics such as “Lois Lane”, “Codename: Knockout”, and “Birds of Prey” for D.C. Comics Vertigo line, “X-Men Unlimited” for Marvel, co-created “Gatecrasher” for Blackbull Comics, and “The Pro”, an Eisner nominated creator owned book for Image Comics with Jimmy Palmiotti and Garth Ennis. Recently she worked on the highly publicized Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre series with Eisner winning creator Darwyn Cooke.

Amanda’s work can also be seen outside the comic book community in such places as ABC’S Nightline, the New York Times, Mad Magazine, the new sci-fi Stan lee “So You Want to be a Superhero” series and the upcoming Disney Underdog movie character designs for film and television, character designs for the Los Angeles Avengers stadium football team and is featured in a Biography magazine commercial on A&E. Amanda does spot illustrations in “Revolver” magazine each month and has had a huge success with the JSA Powergirl miniseries in previous years, each issue going into 3rd printings.

She continuously produces cover work for Marvel Comics, DC Comics and an assortment of independent titles.

With PaperFilms co-founder Jimmy Palmiotti, they are currently working on the highly received Harley Quinn series and other Harley Quinn related titles for DC Comics, in addition to several upcoming DC related projects. Garnering national attention and sales results, the team continues to receive accolades for their work on these titles. The new relaunch of Harley Quinn for DC in the Rebirth line garnered an estimated 250,000 copies ordered.

This is the first volume that I just didn't fancy that much. One sign of my displeasure was that it took me a month to finish it instead of a day or two. And, it has taken me a bloody long time to write it too.

It started off with Harley and her gang trying to stop Popeye, eh I mean some sailor that had mutated into a monster that ate weird green seaweed and it made him crazy and very strong. I'm sorry that story just didn't work for me and I just didn't like the idea of Harley with a gang of Harley copies being vigilantes. So, I was glad when the group disbanded.

it gets a bit better after the mutated seaman is taken down with Harley going to Hollywood and getting into trouble. And, towards the end of the volume Catwoman and Ivy show up for a girl road-trip and that part was the best part in the whole volume. At least that was a bit funny and fun to read.

So, it gets three stars, because the art is still very good and there are some bright moments and I do like reading about Harley Quinn very much. I just hope that the next volume will be better...

I want to thank DC Comics for providing me with a free copy through Edelweiss for an honest review.

In this volume Harley and her gang take on Popeye and there's a crapload of poop jokes. Then she heads out to Cali in two separate adventures, one to find a missing girl and the other to gather her Uncle's ashes. Harley's stick is starting to get old. The book suffers from a lack of direction. It's like it was written by someone with ADD. I'd like to see Gerry Duggan take a stab at Harley as he's managed to turn Deadpool into a good book for the first time in its history.

A couple of fun arcs with the New 52 version of Harley Quinn.

She's recruited some help in keeping up with the busy schedule of practicing psychiatrist (psychologist? some practitioner of the art of shrinking heads), managing a building, and professional crime-bustin'. Her Gang of Harleys start to pick up the slack, until they find the special spinach-y seaweed-swilling Cap'n Horatio Strong.
Next, chronologically (but inserted last in the collection), Harley gets a road trip with Poison Ivy and Catwoman, to fly to L.A. and bring back her Uncle Louie's car and Airstream trailer. Not so simple, of course.
Only home a moment, and it is off again to La-La Land for a kidnapped (or not) acquaintance's daughter, a special guest star from the past, and maybe "the most destructive fifteen minutes of fame ever".

Harley Quinn #19-26, and the Harley Quinn Road Trip Special #1.

Overall I've really been enjoying the Harley Quinn solo title, but this was a little bit of a letdown. Two main stories here with a "Road Trip Special" as a finale. Some scatological humor in the first arc (I'm never a big fan of it to begin with and the writers went a little overboard with it in my opinion), plus two separate sequences of Harley under the influence of hallucinogenics (which came across as redundant). Deadshot makes a welcome guest appearance, but it's difficult to place where in the Suicide Squad comic run these solo Harley issues take place. The road trip issue is definitely the best of the three stories presented here. Conner does a great job giving voice to Harley, Catwoman and Poison Ivy. They come across as real people with fascinating interpersonal dynamics which make perfect sense and the episodic adventures are pretty entertaining. There's also a touching moment for Harley which is welcome as it helps to round out the character. I don't know if there is a volume 5 for Harley but if there is I just hope they reduce the toilet humor (or just stop it altogether, I'd be fine with that too).

Enjoyable entry into the series, filled with nonsensical plots and witty dialogue.

Just pure fun!

If you've reached this far that means you love the Conner/Palmiotti take on Harley so I don't really need to share why this series is great, just why this arc is fun as hell.

World: The art is great, it's colorful it's bright it's fun. The artist change can be jarring but this is a book that allows for that cause Harley herself is so unpredictable and all over the place. The world building is also fun fun fun, her little piece of the DCU is great and I really enjoyed the locale change this arc giving us a different piece and flavor to explore.

Story: It's crazy and it's fun. It's well meaning and it's rude, it's just pure joy. I love the locale change, I like the homage and parody and all the easter eggs found in the story and the art. I like the post facial comments and I love the wacky way Halry is. This story makes sense in it's own little world and that's all you need to know. If you drink the Kool-Aid you'll love it, if you don't you'll find it super annoying it's that simple. I especially love the tie ins to the DCU and having cameos and guest stars makes this just a joy. I'm rambling cause I don't want to say anything that will ruin the book. Just read it if you've come this far you'll like what you get.

Characters: Harley is great, every changing and fun. I like how she's so different from her clown girl beginnings. The rest of the acst was also great, giving a little extra flavor and banter. The cast of characters makes this book so wonderful and it's the love and joy that Conner/Palmiotti have to the characters that they have created throughout their career coming back that makes them more than they are. This is their little piece of the DCU and the characters here are fun. I really like the family that Harley has created.

Just read it if you want something fun. It's just pure joy.

Onward to the next book!

A nice range of stories: action, humor, friendship, grief. Harley's got a lot going on.

**I received a free eARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

In this volume we see Harley fighting crime with her new gang of Harleys, and it's actually quite enjoyable. She just recruited these people and now they're in need of cool superhero names... but she just gave them the silliest names possible, which I found pretty funny, and hey, they get used to them real quick.

We also get to know the gang a bit more, and their relationship with Harley is pretty cute, I was worried that things would be kind of awkward with these new characters, but that wasn't the case.

There's a lot of action and fights (one including a Popeye look-alike), and we also follow Harley's typical everyday adventures, which aren't really as common as one might think.

Definitely an entertaining read for Harley Quinn fans.

This story arc collection has Harley recruiting a gang to fight crime as a cross between vigilantes and private eyes. After losing half her gang for reasons I will not explain and with the new business venture being in debt she takes a job to rescue a girl from a cult in California that falls in her lap thanks to her day job at the retirement home and being friends with Sy. The job pays off in the end even though it doesn’t work out like Harley thought it would. There is a one shot story at the end with a girl’s road trip consisting of Harley, Ivy and Selena.

I really like these and I wonder if they will end this version with the new DC reboot coming up.

The DEADPOOL comparisons continue in this book, as HARLEY QUINN VOL 4: A CALL TO ARMS continues to be madcap and chock full of irreverent humor. While I really liked the storyline that had Harley and her Team of Harleys (a varied and diverse group of sidekicks) fighting a Popeye parody/homage, all of it was overshadowed by the storyline of Harley, Ivy, and Selina going on a girls road trip together. It was everything I wanted it to be, and Harley having some girl time was super, super satisfying and adorable. Oh, and Deadshot showed up!! There was also few bits of pathos in this book, with Harley mourning the death of her uncle Louie. I think that these comics have finally found their footing, which is a relief after the shaky second trade collection.

Good that Harley got her own crimefighting gang. She should check their driver's licence or ID's to make sure they are the right age. Nice that Harley got a new love interest and also nice to see Poison Ivy.

Can't wait to read Harley Quinn, volume 5: The Joker's Last Laugh!!!!

Non sabía que Popeye ía roubar tanto protagonismo nun cómic de Harley Quinn, pero aquí estamos xd.

Iso si, gracias Amanda polas Gotham City Sirens. Parece que se lles esquece que teñen unha parte hetera cada vez que se xuntan as tres...

Once again pure fun awaits those who pick this volume up. You got a roided out Popeye wannabe, a road trip with Catwoman and Poison Ivy, and a gang of Harley Quinn's running about kicking crimes ass. Oh and Harley Quin does not deal well with customer service at airports.

This book was a lot of fun. I laughed, I learned more about this fun group of characters I have come to care about from Tony who gets shit done to Syborg who made be old, but still gets around and of course titular Harley Quinn. I will keep buying these collections as long as they keep making them (which I hope is for a long time). Really solid and good, just had an all around fun time with these comics.

Public library copy.

It's ponderous to me how popular this title has been and yet none of ever appealed to me. Art wise, it's better than most DC titles and the covers are always fantastic. Not sure how a get-high Popeye the Sailor Man knockoff didn't ruffle feathers at Kings Features.

Not quite as fun as some of the others, but still good. I enjoyed Ivy and Catwoman coming back, along with Deadshot. The road trip was good, and I am enjoying learning more about Harley's past, although from some of her orgin stories, I would not think she would get along with her mom like she does, although the comment her mom made in the one may not have been meant rudely. Anyways, a decent instalment in the series.

I enjoyed it as usual, I just love Harley's adventures! Though I have to reckon that this one took me a while to read it because it wasn't as great as the others, but the last part was one of my favourites!

Akcja z Papajem nawet zabawna. Komiks lawiruje pomiędzy dobrym humorem a zmęczonymi wiele razy żartami. Dużo odniesień do popkultury wzbogaca prostolinijny ciąg wydarzeń.

První polovina je příšerná, fekální a nové postavy jsou jen do počtu. S příjezdem do Hollywoodu se to mírně zlepšuje (chápej: už je to jen nuda), a tak je na celé Harley nejazjímavější kresba. Asi končím i s touhle sérku.

Not exactly sure when I did it, but I read had the individual comics that make up this volume at some point, I assume, in 2016. Plus I read 2 of the comics that go into volume 5, but that's a different collection so forget it.

Can't really say anything about this one now. Been a while since I read it. Harley Quinn has created a gang of 'Harley's', and she's dating both a man (no, not the Joker) and a woman (Poison Ivy). This is the version of Quinn who is attempting to be her own version of a superhero (covering an area of New York that lacks a regular superhero protector). Being who and what she is, that basically means she's kind of 'Chaotic good'. As in, she's attempting to do good, but she still will kill people and feed them to her hyenas, and occasionally launch things from the top of her building using a catapult thingie up there.

I recall one villain in this arc, may or may not have been in this specific collection of comics. That villain was a popeye type.

If I ever get around to rereading this specific collection (well the individual comics that make up the collection, since I have the digital versions of said comics), I'll attempt to write something 'better' here.

A quick, fun read.

I enjoyed this book but I'm not as big of a fan of the harley gang, which this volume focuses on more, which is why I'm only giving this 3 stars. I still really enjoy this series and I enjoyed the recent 6 issue mini series that focused on the gang of harleys but I enjoy harley solo a little more.

I really like that they included the Road Trip Special at the end of the trade. I bought this one shot when it came out and I really enjoyed it.

All in all, still a solid fun series.
