I recently discovered these books as part of teaching the alphabet to preschoolers and I love them. What's more, the kids love them. There are pictures by some of the words so the kids can "read" along with me and get some of the words. I love this tactic of giving them a sense of being able to read, it is a big encouragement boost. There are tons of words for each letter and at the end there are pictures of each item with the word underneath for more reinforcement. Wish I could get all the books in the series.
This book is all about the letter b. The little girl goes along and finds things to put in her box that begin with the letter b. Eventually she ends up on a boat with all of the other things that she found that begins with the letter b. Some of the things she finds are animals that begin with the letter b.
Love IT! I would love to get my hands on each and every My "letter" Box book! These books are such a great tools to introduce phonics and letter sounds. I love the way that Jane creates a story using different objects that have the B sound. I would love to use this book in a kindergarten classroom and as a resource for the students to use throughout the school year.
Adequate for my needs - I'm doing an "A-Z storytime" series, and these books are going to be very useful. The repetition of the words is great, and I actually plan to use each book twice to reinforce the repetition (ooops, there's me skipping forward to R!).
This and the other books in the "sound box" series worked great for helping Madelyn with her sounds. The story wasn't fantastic, but it was fun nonetheless.
A little girl has a sound box and only fills it up with things that start with the letter B. great beginner reader book. I could use this whole series for teaching sounds.
My three year old son loved this book! It was a great way to incorporate lessons on letters into our reading. We will certainly be reading more of these "letter books".
