There's still a lot of ground to cover with only one volume left. I don't know why so much time was wasted with the main characters living in the desert. It makes no sense they'd even go to live there given the mom is an oceanographer and the kid has gills. There's a great series lying here just waiting for a better writer to come and clean some of this up.
We are finding out there are even more prehistoric creatures roaming the oceans than we thought, in addition to the Megalodons. There's also further evidence of a humanoid underwater culture that existed in prehistory, which probably explains the little girl with the gills. There's only one volume left and a lot of ground to cover so I'm curious to see how this all ends.
And so the mysteries keep on coming adding more and more layers to the story - it feels like the whole planet now is at stake rather than a aquatic explorers reputations or billionaires fancies.
The story rips along at a place on several fronts - but you are starting to see how they are slowly starting to draw together and where new alliances are starting to form even though you are not entirely sure to what end.
I will admit that some characters are easier than others to get along with - and I am two minds if that is intentional or just my own personal prejudices we shall see as I have made the rookie mistake of not checking the series - I am not even half way there yet!
The megalodons become public knowledge after a terrible tsunami leaves one aground in Malaysia. Spectacular art as ever, with beautifully drawn animals and awe-inspiring undersea locations, but it's book four now and the ongoing story has barely moved forward since book one.
This episode remains disappointing. The artwork is lifeless, the story incoherent with too many related villains and not enough progress. It’s dragging badly. The focus of the story is shifting from impressive monsters to the Atlantis origins of the protagonist’s daughter. One thing that particularly rankles: the girl is clearly aquatic, but the several doctors who examine her for an unspecified fever seem unable to spot the fact she has gills. Oh come on!
Girl with gills that can communicate with giant sharks is in the exact opposite place where she could have adventures & develop her character through her remarkable abilities—the Australian outback. Seriously.
Tolle Serie soweit. Herrliche Unterwasserwelt. Traumhafte Farben. Und Steinzeit Haifische. Was will man mehr?
