It's not a brilliant story. There's a moral tale there but the £12.99 price tag is absurd. Nice illustrations and a few nice moments but I would suggest borrowing it from your nearest library rather than hand over that much money for a mediocre kids book

My 18m old loves this book. Has totally taught her how to go Boo! She finds the killer whale bit hilarious. I like how he explains that Polar bears and penguins do not live in the same place!

A little bear goes around scaring other animals and thinks it's funny and get little consequences for it.

When he does he isn't really taught a good lesson just that some people can be more mean than he is. I think a better lesson would be if they filmed everyone but the little bear and he had to sit by quietly and watch.

I get it kids love to jump out and say boo they think it's funny because when they start doing it other people laugh. Unfortunately they don't always know when to stop and much like this story eventually they will scare the wrong person at the wrong time and suddenly it isn't so funny.

The drawings are cute, and I'm sure some kids will love the "Boo"ing and maybe it will spark some good conversations about when that kind of thing is appropriate and when it isn't.

🌟🌟🌟🌟

I have a huge crush on David Walliams... so yes, I will read everything that he writes, and this will be the start for when I write the rest of the reviews.

The lil bear is so cute but such a rascal. Cute story.

First reading as a grown-up: unimpressed.
Little one: again please 😌
Second reading: hmm...not that bad
Little one: again please 😌
Third reading: this is a good book
Little one: again please
Next reading mum sees the moral behind the story and finds it perfect for a 4+ child.
It actually started so many interesting conversations and debates that although I still don't find it outstanding, I would still recommend it.

Later edit:
Dear me, we have read this so many times, I had to give it 5 stars.

The Bear Who Went Boo! is a story of a young cub who scares all the other animals. A famous person decided to go to the Arctic and film the animals but the bear also ended up scaring that person too. The person left because of this and the other animals were mad at the cub and ended up scaring the cub. The cub has learnt not to scare the other animals again.

Miss 6 enjoys all things David Walliams and liked listening to this as an audiobook.

Miss 6 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

read it during Stry time at work and the kids loved it and was laughing all the way through. Tony Ross' illustrations helped to bring the story to life for them. The way the story flows and is written keeps the kids engaged.

This might work for a toddler, but does not work for older kids (or parents). Sometimes books have something to give to both parent and the child, but in this case it might be better to use the time for a round of peek-a-boo.

Out of all of David's work that I've read this year, this is probably my favorite. It's so sweet and reminds me of my own little baby bear. This a really special one, and would be perfect for a baby gift for parents.

Might be DW's best picture book so far, but still not a well-written stories for early year children. Luckily I borrowed it from library before spend money on it. Not worth it although it was well-illustrated.

David Walliams picture books are hit or miss for me (biggest complaint is that the message or punchline is often wrapped in a fair amount of mean-spirited 'edginess' and gets lost). This one was a stronger hit, maybe 3+.

This one is a pretty good one, though. I liked the message about consequences and then the silly little joke on the last page. This message is a pretty important one - especially in an age of "just joking" responses, and filmed pranks shared on social media by bigger kids. Knowing that there's a time and a place and an audience for every prank or joke is an important lesson to learn. Delivered by cute little artic animals? Even better.

Not perfect, but can actually see pulling this one out for a storytime, which isn't usual for a Walliams picture book. Still, this one has bright, straightforward pictures that are easier for my audience to see; silly animal voices to ham up; and (as mentioned) a good take-home.

UPDATE - have actually used this in a story time now. My younger ones were getting a little ansty by the end (it's a little longer for my youngest story time audience) but everyone agreed that Little Bear wasn't being very nice and that we should all think about others before we scared them.

The dynamic duo; David Walliams and Tony Ross are back with another mischievous picture book. At the top of the world, surrounded by snow and ice, lives a very cheeky polar bear cub that loves to go Boo. The only problem is, this little bear cub doesn't always know when to stop.

This book was absolutely perfect.

David Walliams' terrific story is once again perfectly complimented by Tony Ross' amazing illustrations. Making The Bear Went Boo! both fun to read and fun to look at.

As an adult I genuinely enjoyed reading this book, so I can only imagine how much joy it will bring to young readers and their parents.

I have already recommended this book to all of the parents I know. Reading this book made me wish I had a child to share it with and that doesn't happen to me very often.

The Bear Who Went Boo! is a book that every child will love and every parent will love to share with their child.

If you have a child in your life or are looking for the perfect book for a young reader, The Bear Who Went Boo! by David Walliams, illustrated by Tony Ross is the book for you.

David Walliamsin "The Bear Who Went Boo!" (HarperCollins, 2015) on kuvakirja kurittomasta jääkarhunpoikasesta, josta on mukava säikytellä muita jäätiköllä asuvia eläimiä. Verrattuna saman tekijäkaksikon Lievästi ärsyttävä norsu -kuvakirjaan verrattuna tämä on hyvin tavanomainen ja mitäänsanomaton tapaus, vaikka Tony Rossin kuvituksesta pidänkin.

It is ok story about a little polar bear that goes boo to everyone/thing, but learns his lesson in the end.

it is ok. Would use for storytimes as pictures (by Tony Ross) do support the story.

Quite long words but would work.
