Cait's friend Alex who we met in The Cat of Christmas Past returns to Madrona Island a vastly changed man. It seems that wealth has made an impact on his personality and not in a good way. During one of the legendary parties Alex has become famous for throwing one of the guests dies and it looks as if Alex may have blood on his hands. Cait and Cody set out to prove Alex's innocence with the help of Ebenezer, the cat we met in The Cat of Christmas Past.
Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home. Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

This is one of my favorite series written by Ms. Daley and this book did not disappoint. A well paced plot with all of the characters that I've grown to love on Madrona Island made this an enjoyable afternoon of reading.
I enjoyed this book very much as I do the whole series. Cait has a full plate with her mother getting married to a man that the family is suspicious about, Alex is back in town but seems to be a different person who then ends up as a suspect for murder, a missing dog, Cait is kept busy. I love the characters in this series, and Ebenezer is back to help Cait solve the mystery. I also love the fact that a cat appears in each book to help, very fun. The mystery kept me guessing and was all wrapped up in the end. I do admit Cait's mother did wear on me at times with being clueless to her children's feelings but I did find that Cait and her mother had me laughing out loud at the "naughty store". I will definitely continue on with this series.
It's June on beautiful Madrona Island where the whales can be seen offshore in the warmer waters. Business is hopping at Coffee Cat Books, the coffee bar/bookstore/adopt-a-cat lounge owned by Cait and Tara. Cait's sleuthing gang must rally to help clear the name of Balthazar Pottage's son and heir, Alex, when he becomes the top suspect in a murder. Balthazar and Alex were introduced in The Cat of Christmas Past, as was Ebenezer, the cat with mystic skills who leads Cait to clues. This is a classic Kathi Daley whodunit full of warm characters, friendship, bad guys, and a great mystery!

I'm not going to give this book a rating because I don't think it's fair to rate an independent author's work poorly. I knew going in that I didn't like cosy Mysteries, my rating would reflect that
I read this as a part of a deal I made with a friend.
The Great Catsby is 8th book in the Whales and Tails series by Kathi Daley. This cozy mystery quickly draws the reader in to the adventures of Caitlyn “Cait” Hart on Madrona Island where the whales can be seen from the shore. Coffee Cat Books, the coffee bar/bookstore/adopt-a-cat lounge owned by Cait and Tara is busier than ever, allowing little time for Cait to help a little girl find her lost dog, assist her mom with wedding plans when her sister, Cassie, isn’t meeting her Mom’s expectations, and help clear her friend, Alex, of murder charges. To add to her distress, Cait have a feeling her Mother’s beau isn’t what he appears to be and Alex is a very different young man than the Alex she knew prior to leaving the island years earlier. Cait's and her friends put their sleuthing skills to work to help clear the name of Balthazar Pottage's son and heir, Alex, who has become the top suspect in a murder. Balthazar, a mystical cat, and Alex were introduced in The Cat of Christmas Past. I’m glad Cait and Cody have been able to further their budding romance throughout the obstacles thrown their direction.
In true Kathi Daley style, the character development is progressing, the reader is taken on a vicarious trip to a beautiful locale, the plot and integrated subplots are well integrated and hold the readers interest. This book can be read as a stand-alone but, if you appreciate cozy mysteries, you will want to read the series. Ms. Daley delivers a superbly written classic cozy mystery with a dash of true suspense. I recommend this book, as well as all Ms. Daley’s books/series, to anyone who enjoys a well-crafted cozy mystery. Young or old If you like cozy mysteries, this book would be a perfect choice for your reading enjoyment.
Full Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed in this review are my own
Another amazing 5 star book by Kathi Daley. The Great Catsby is book 8 in the Whales and Tails series. A cozy series not to be missed. This book like all of the others grabs you from page one and has you hooked till the last page. I love that some characters from previous books have come back to Madrona Island, especially Ebenezer the mysterious cat. He has a knack for helping Cait solve mysteries as well as saving her from bad guys. In this book Alex, a friend of Cait's has come back to Madrona Island a changed man. He has done a full 180 and is now quite frankly acting like a rich snob! That is until after one of his wild parties he ends up the prime suspect in the murder of a guest. Besides Alex, Cait has a lot on her plate with her mom getting married and her sister Cassie not taking all the changes as well as her mom would like. YIKES! This is a touchy subject. Poor Cait. She is in the middle of everything but Ebenezer is here to help. This wonderful cat was introduced to us in The Cat of Christmas Past and is back to help. Before long Cait maybe over her head and Ebenezer maybe the only one who can save her from the real killer. Grab your copy of this great series! You will love it!
Caitlin Hart has a problem...she just can't get enthused about her mother's upcoming wedding plans. The whole thing is making her crazy, first because it's all too sudden and then because her mother has plans to move away from the island. And as if that wasn't enough, she really doesn't like the guy! But rather than alienating her mother, she has to grin and bear it. As if this wasn't enough, her friend, Alex (whose story is in "The Cat of Christmas Past) has returned to the island for the summer but money seems to have changed him for the worse. Then when one of his outrageous parties ends with a dead body and Alex is the prime suspect, Cait knows she needs to put on her sleuthing hat and solve the crime. This time the cat Ebenezer is there to help her find clues. As always, this is a delightful mystery, scattered with clues and possible suspects, and an interesting twist for the final solution. I enjoy this series and the main characters of Caitlin, her boyfriend Cody, her friends and family, and I look forward reading more about them in the future. Disclosure: The author gifted me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
In this funny and endearing mystery series we find Cait accompanying her 58 year old mother on a trousseau shopping trip to the naughty lingerie store. Mom is marrying wealthy Reginald Pendergrass, a man she has only known a few weeks and the family is in a turmoil. Not only is she getting married but she's selling the family home and moving off the island. With the return of an old friend whose recently acquired wealth has turned him into a college partying fool. When his latest party gets out of control and he is found with blood on his shirt and a dead girl in his pool, Cait goes to work along with his grandfather's cat, to find out what really happened. A very twisted murder plot involving friends and family make this another great entry in this series. The story will keep you turning the pages to the surprising and terrifying end.
When Cait’s friend Alex returns to Madrona Island his personality seemed to change dramatically due to his now found wealth. His parties have become legendary and when a woman’s body is found dead in the swimming pool stabbed to death, he becomes the number one suspect despite being drugged and not remembering anything.
In the meantime Cait’s mom is getting remarried to a man she met on a cruise and that no one know anything about. He supposedly well off but her mom is spending money on a lavish wedding and he wants to sell their family home.
Cait and her gang with the aid of Ebenezer once again finds themselves in the middle of things as they solve e murder. Another winner from the author.
The Great Catsby ( Whales and Tails Cozy Mystery - Book 8 ) By: Kathi Daley
The Great Catsby is book eight in Whales and Tails Mystery series. Kathi Daley sure knows how to write a good cozy mystery that will hold your attention and have you reading way in the night to finish it and find out some answers. The author drew me into the story right at the start and did not let go till the end. There is a murder that takes place at a party and one of Cait’s friends is the number one suspect. This is a mystery that will require Cait and her gang to help solve. Ebenezer the cat, from another book shows up . Is this the cat that is sent to help lead Cait to the killer? I really enjoyed this cozy mystery The Great Catsby by Kathi Daley. Be sure and pick up your copy today.
Again Caitlin Hart has her hands full balancing her coffee shop duty during the busy summer season and solving the murder of a girl who was found floating in her friend Alex's pool. Added in is her mom's up coming wedding to Reginald Pendergrass, a man no one likes and a man her mother barely knows.
When Daisy is found dead and Alex is found passed out covered in blood he is arrested on the spot. Ebenezer the cat has shown up and when attempts are made on the lives of some of the party goers Cait knows Alex is innocent.
For me the best part of the book was the description of Caitlin shopping with her mom at the naughty store. Priceless!
Another great mystery by Kathi Daley, The Great Catsby jumps right in to not one but two mysteries. First, who is this stranger who has swept her mother off her feet and has her acting like a twenty-something planning her wedding and second, who killed the girl and framed her friend. Gait wastes no time in seeking out the clues with the help of her friends and family. Read in one sitting, this is another winner!
Kindle Unlimited liked it but didn't love it hence 4 stars. Wasn't anything stupid such as typos or anything like that, just didn't love this.

I love Kathi Daley cozy mystery series and I do love the Whales and Tails series even more so because it features cats. I like a cozy mystery like this one because it can be read in about 2 hours and is especially nice on a snowy, winter's day.
Madrona Island is a little like the Murder She Wrote TV series in which one wonders just how many murders can take place in such a supposedly idyllic town. Madrona Island is much the same and in this case, it's even an island --so not that much in the way of land mass. Murders, even multiple murders, keep happening amidst the rest of the little town's blissful way of life where everyone cares about everyone else. And, in this book, Cait's childhood home burns to the ground and there's only maybe 2-3 sentences describing the tragedy.
But long explanations, details and expanding on themes and characters is not why we read cozy mysteries. We read them to be entertained for a couple of hours, to come back to characters who do evolve over the series and to read about people and places who are familiar to us and make us smile. Kathi Daley does that with this series and I, for one, will continue to read it even as more and more people meet with their death on Madrona Island.
I really love this series by Daley. The Whales and Tails series takes place on the islands outside of Seattle. The Great Catsby, the 8th book in the series, is of a murder of a teenage girl, and a few others who were either drugged or injured. Cait along with her friends help the police in solving the mystery. This series is great for all ages. It is not too graphic and is easy to read and follow. The characters are very likeable and easy to relate too. Love the little town atmosphere portrayed in this series.
Cait and her boyfriend, Cody, along with her sister and her boyfriend the deputy sheriff and several others get involved when Alex is nailed for murder when a young woman is found in his pool after a house party. At the same time all her family are upset because their mother is planning to marry a man she just met on a cruise and no one likes him and can find out anything about him. A really interesting story.
Cait's mom announces she is gettng married; the announcement is met with horror sfte Reginald is introduced. Alex ends up in jail after Daisy is found dead at the end of a party. The investigation has ups and downs and lastly, Reginald sets fire tothe family home. Another well written book by Kathi Daley.
I thought moms blindly following new boyfriend and his blatet taking her money sad scary and hopfully not believeable. Ebenezer always interesting and liked more time learning about the family. Not my favorite but worth reading.
Cait has another mystery to solve. She needs to prove Alex is innocent. But what happened to Alex to cause him to be so different? This story kept me captivated throughout, and I loved it. Highly recommend!
I enjoyed this book very much. I had read several prior books and several newer ones but had skipped a few. Now I got to find out more about the house and what happened. The ending was nuts. I’m so happy about the good surprises. Another winner !
The characters are great. Know the area well where this series is located. So it's been fun to read. Stories are great. Highly recommend this series. Fast fun read.
I keep saying ...this is the last book, then I am going to get started on chores.... I am so hooked on the characters and the dilemmas these lovely people get caught up in. Housework is backing up but I just don’t mind. Maybe after - just one more-
I have thoroughly enjoyed this book about Caitlin and her cat friends. I was worried for awhile that we wouldn’t have a totally happy ending, but we did after all.
This is a terrific series. This one had it all, great mystery, great characters and that perfect touch of magic. If you are a cat person you will love these books even more. I couldn't set this one down...I would eat while reading!
This Cozy was closer to home for the crew, with lots of suspense. I love the storyline and the cast of characters. Cozy mystery fans will love this book.
