As a powerful demigod, Selena has been running from the gods who control the government agency, the New Pantheon, for the past three years, but now, they’ve caught up to her.
When they trap Selena in an alleyway in New Orleans, she is ready to admit defeat. But an unfamiliar demigod rescues her, and the more she learns about Cameron, the more she discovers their common bonds may be the key to unraveling her own mysterious history.
In the first book of The Unbreakable Sword series, Selena and Cameron must not only evade the New Pantheon, which is ruthlessly hunting the remaining gods and their descendants, but an angry Aztec god that wants Selena’s power to himself. And they will discover in the impending final battle of the gods, no one can be trusted.
The story had a nifty concept and was an entertaining read. I just didn't like the characters themselves very much. I'm chalking it up to the fact that they are younger than me or that they are pretty immature despite the drama they're involved in.
I went this entire book and never once realized the MCs were supposed to be in their late twenties. I thought they were 18/19 tops. Now, if they WERE 18/19 then they are great characters and the banter and joking are cute (because immature is cute when you are not quite an adult)...but now that I know they are supposed to be pushing 30 it makes them seem really idiotic and childish.
There were way too many gods with way too many odd names for me to keep straight....the battles were anticlimactic and the love story is underdeveloped and forced. I can understand how a romance could bud between the two MC but making it destiny kind of takes the fun out of it.
Was this an easy and entertaining read? Yes. Am I inspired to read the next books? Meh....I don’t know. Cameron is my favorite character but I just don’t think that even with his godlike strength he has the power to hold me.
The concept was good. It was fairly decent until they vanished then it's like the author ran out of conflict and had to make something up on the fly. This continued all the way up to the battle scene which was the most well piece in the entire book.
The premise was intriguing until everything revolved around chocolate brown eyes and a sexy grin/smirk/smile. Not to mention the every-look-is-hyphenated and the constant unnecessary language. The villains are forced. The main characters are stereotypical: perfect male specimen and clumsy, short, wouldn't hurt a fly, beautiful girl. And the ending just stops. There is no wind down. And why on earth do they keep going back to the swamp? Just walk away. Nothing to see here.
This one receives a major eye roll for made-for-each-other cheesiness and stupid decisions over and over again. Won't be reading the next.
For my clean readers: massive amount of language, including attempted, but unfinished, f-word. Violence and stealing.
When gods are fighting the life of others is not anymore the same. When you need to chose between been a goddess and love the choice is hard and will decide of your own destiny
Mythology and names I can’t pronounce made this book a bit of a challenge for me. But I read it start to finish and I enjoyed every single part of it. There was comedy and chaos I loved it
Fantastic!!! Loved this story and had an impossible time putting it down. Can't wait to read the continuing story to see where and how our hero and heroine, Cameron and Selena do with their quest 😊
On a different day, a different mood this probably would have been a 3.5 book...today, it's a bit more than that, so it's getting 4 stars.
I enjoyed that it was a different take on the 'supernatural' things/folks are out there. I also liked that the various gods/demigods weren't all from the Greek and Norse pantheons, but encompassed more with great story bits of the other patheons included.
This was a new take on all the old myths. I love when author put a new spin on a old concept. It's an easy read ,with lot's of action and humour to keep you interested.
This magical book was well written. The characters and storyline were spellbinding. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a book with lots of turmoil you will love this one. I Wil be reading more books in this series.
Not sure if it was meant to be cheesy comedy, but it grows on you. Definitely found myself laughing. Although it was hard for me to imagine Selena and Cameron to be 26 and 27 years old. I would age them more to be 18/19.
Exciting, action packed, hilarious with a touch of romance
Just the right combination to get you hooked and at the edge of your seat kind of read. It's dramatic at times, but with the speed of the book it hardly seems like it's all drama. It has just enough humor and action to keep the story moving and can't put the book down. On to book 2 I go!!
Entrancing words - enticing story. Loved reading this book. E Gods was there ever a lot of them. Do you intrap one, two, the whole lot of them? Who is the bad Gods? Life goes on. I received a complimentary copy of this book for voluntary review consideration.
That was a great journey full of surprises and mysteries. I really enjoyed Selena's and Cameron's struggle! Nothing was too easy on their way. I loved to get to know gods and their descendants from less known pantheons. Ideal for teenagers!
It has some kind of cliffhanger, but its all good.
This book keeps you entertained. It's good and the mythology is cool. The characters are joking around a lot, but it's positively charming. Can't wait to continue this series!
*I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book* Thank to the author for providing me with a copy!
