Valery grew up in a small town that resides about an hours drive from Las Vegas. She spent most of her childhood playing Star Trek, Star Wars, and other alien games with her four brothers. She also rode horses everyday, obsessed about sports, studied the night sky with her grandfather and his monstrous homemade telescope, and swam as often as possible.
She wrote her first book at 13, which sadly has disappeared.
Her current obsessions are photography, backpacking, lounging on the beach with a good book, and spending time with her favorite people.

Or I research things that have been bothering me for the genetics or worlds in my stories. The funny thing is that the best ideas usually come to me when I am listening to the Tron: Legacy soundtrack or when I am in the shower. Yup! The shower. I don't know why, but for some reason my mind seems to open up while the warm spray of water hits my head, maybe it's loosening up my brain like it does with my muscles, because let's face it, the brain is a muscle and we have to use it.(less)

Way better than I expected. Felt like Dragonlance, but better. Second book in the series is definitely on my list.

Cute, but a little slow to start.

For my clean readers: language-some, including a reserved f-bomb. Violence-breaking and entering. Romance-none.

Short, but decent read. Took away a star for grammar issues.

For my clean readers: no language. Violence is limited to childhood beatings, slavery, and locking the mc in her room. Romance-kissing.

“Love was a fickle thing, and it only complicated life with distraction and broken hearts.”
Valery G. Olsen, Perigee

“One wrong word, one clumsy move, and their one spy and ally would be taken out of play. She was the only one who could help them, and they needed her more than they needed air.”
Valery G. Olsen, Perigee

“This very act of defiance had become a therapeutic exercise, one that focused his anger on destroying at least one small part of his prison, and he tightened his grip on the small stick of plas-crete between his fingers.

The scratching provided an amount of control over his life when he had none, and he narrowed his gaze, fixating on the symbol blossoming across his designated section of floor. Another mark, one more dead.”
Valery G. Olsen, Perigee

“There is no guilt, there is no blame. Only what is meant to be.”
Valery G. Olsen, Perigee

“Good could not be bad, and white could not be black. She must be gray, locked between the two, never able to drift from between the blurred lines.”
Valery G. Olsen, Perigee

“Space is vast, infinite, and eternal.”
Valery G. Olsen, Apogee

“Death was not a door you could open and close at will.”
