My latest book is Hammond Flux, Life After Flesh. It's a modern day Frankenstein story set in London, the story of a maverick professor who has written an app that emulates the human brain. He uses it to upload his own mind and spawns Hammond Flux, a version of himself free of human limitations. Rather than use his new power and knowledge to improve the lot of humanity Hammond Flux decides to settle old scores and remake the world to his liking. The chaos that follows threatens to bring civilisation to its knees and Hammond Hinkley is forced to face his worst fears and challenge the monster he has created before it destroys everything he loves.

I also have a small set of short stories, 'Genie and Other Weird Tales'.

This collection of five short stories leans on the side of bizarre. Bizarre as they are, the writing is quite good. Genie ranked highest with me. I wish it had been longer. I was ready to go the distance. Lachlan was an interesting take on alter egos. We've all got one. Or two. The other stories were kind of hit or miss.

The book, “Genie and Other Weird Tales” by Alan Killip, was a collection of short stories combined into one book. Each story doesn’t relate to the others but they have their own unique plot. The first short story named “Genie” takes place in London, England. Genie is someone who wants to normal and have human friends. She was born in outer space in a freak accident and turned out to be a Genie who can grant wishes and work magic. That’s exactly what she does. Genie wants human friends so bad because she’s the only person with powers like this. When she comes across people she will make them a deal to grant them 3 wishes and they will be her friend. She soon finds out that that was a horrible decision and she doesn’t know what to do. The story continues with crazy confusion that Genie has to figure out and all throughout London.

I enjoyed most of the stories in this book but some of them were confusing because it is set in the early 1900’s in England. Each story has its own different set of characters and it was interesting because the author had his own style into each book. My favorite of all of them was “Genie” which is the one I chose to write about. I would recommend this book because it is such a creative book which is something I really enjoyed while reading. Also, I recommend this book to teens or young adults because in some ways it was relatable. The book talks about trying to make new friends in certain situations which can be similar with some teens in high school. Lastly, I think you should read this book because it brings unrealistic scenarios into real life situations.

Beautiful writing, haunting (not the scary kind) prose, telling a time's old story through new eyes. Showing longing and loneliness so present in our daily lives. The pictures painted with words, showing the choices we make and the consequences of these choices, was fascinating. The writing will transport you into the worlds and lives of these characters.

Some of the stories were so interesting, while others just didn't grab my attention as much as I had hoped. Still, the first story, Genie, had me wanting to read more by this author.

The first half of the genie short story was gorgeous if a bit choppy. The rest of the stories just couldn't grab my attention

First I would like to state that I received this book through the Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. I would like to thank the author for giving me this opportunity and honor in being able to read this book. This book was a very interesting read. I enjoyed the first story I think more than the rest but they were all very good. I enjoyed the writing style and found the stories interesting and intriguing. Overall I found it an enjoyable read!

This is a decent collection of short stories, all of which were well written and most of which I liked.
I think that the Lachlan story and Eleanor unleashed are the best. They reminded me of the Black Mirror series or something from the Twilight Zone programmes. Eleanor unleashed would be a great screenplay if it was re-written in an extended form.
I was less keen on the Sarah's Dad story and I did not really think it had enough impact.

The best story among these is the first one by far. I found it intriguing and the writing is wonderful. The other stories fell flat compared to the last one. Especially the Sarah's Dad didn't make much sense to me. Overall though I found it an enjoyable read!
