The most famous cat in the world stars in her very own Little Golden Book!
Grumpy Cat has 8 million Facebook followers, her own TV movie, and now . . . a Little Golden Book! In this story featuring an all-new iconic art style, Grumpy Cat’s friends and admirers try to get her to try new things and have fun, and each time she is even more resolved to say NO. In the end, she is right. Having fun is awful.
Let me just say I like grumpy cat. Anyways have. This book is amusing and we did have fun with it.
However, Grumpy Cat as a little golden book in which she is anti-social and refuses to play with others (and it's sitting on the shelf for young kids at the library) just seems a bit off to me.
Meh. It sure what the draw with these books are. The ones with the actual pictures at least you get to see a cute kitty. This wasn’t bad, but not amazing either. 3, middle of the road, stars.
This one was actually pretty good, but I know what my own grumpy-looking cat would have done with the happy butterfly, the cheerful ladybug, and the joyful bird. And it isn't "allow them to have a fun race while I sit here not participating at all."

Summary: The Little Grumpy Cat That Wouldn’t is vastly explained by its title. Grumpy cat is a cat that has no desire in doing anything “fun”. She stumbles upon a butterfly who attempts to persuade her to try new things. Grumpy cat was not having it. She meets other animals along the way who, just like the butterfly, want grumpy cat to try fun activities, but grumpy cat would not give in. One animal suggested they all race and they all did except for grumpy cat; she was left alone. That was her plan all along.
Activity: This activity will be for younger students. First, I would have each student draw a timeline. They would then place the animals that invited grumpy cat in the order they invited her in and the activity they each suggested. Drawing and explaining are necessary. At the end of the timeline put something you, the student, would suggest to get the grumpy cat to participate in.

Those of a certain age well remember Marvin the Paranoid Android, created by the late, great Douglas Adams.
I always wonder what he would've thought of Tardar Sauce, better known as Grumpy Cat. Although she was the most amazing cat the Internet has ever seen, she only lived to be seven, due to complications from a UTI, but probably also due to her severe genetic deformities.
Such as that face.
Tardar Sauce was an intelligent, affectionate cat, but her public persona will live as long as there is an Internet -- and books like this.
This is a Little Golden Book, which is usually a series for small children, but I've got a feeling this book was really for parents and fans of Tardar Sauce.
Although there is only one small photo of Tardar Sauce in the copyright, artist Steph Laberis does an exceptional job capturing the glory and wonder that was Grumpy Cat. There are also other animals done in a parody of happy critters in books like The Little Golden Book Series, as well as a very interesting google-eyed cactus.
First sentence: Once, there was a little cat. She was cute. She was furry. And she was...Grumpy. Grumpy Cat didn't like anything.
Premise/plot: Grumpy Cat stars in this Little Golden Book. In this non-adventure, Grumpy Cat ventures outdoors where she is pestered by happy animals who want her to join in their fun. Will she? What do you think?
My thoughts: I loved it. I loved the illustrations. I really liked the text. For readers--of all ages--who like or love Grumpy Cat this one is fun and enjoyable. (It is family-friendly. Not everything with Grumpy Cat's face is, you know.)

This is a frankly delightful parody of Little Golden Books - I'm actually a little surprised Golden actually published it, let alone markets it with the other Little Golden Books, given how openly parodic it is. This book is clearly not written for children, but rather adults who want to have a laugh at the expense of their childhoods. The writing style and illustrations both mimic the genre perfectly while serving as tribute to our favorite grump. Children wouldn't like or understand the book (unless they're smart enough to be in on the joke), but for Grumpy Cat's grown-up fans, it's a fun if short treat.
I love this book! I loved this kind of book when I was a kid, y'know, roasting all the 'establishment' books! Comes of having progressive parents - I was allowed to read everything, bar one or two things.
I don't understanding forcing kids to think everything and everybody is happy-la-la, and then having them be traumatized later when they find out it isn't real life...
Love books like this - next door's four year old girl thought it was hilarious, too. People don't give kids enough credit... they know they shouldn't be like that, but they will see the funny side, and learn not to take everything seriously and literally.
I have fond memories of reading Little Golden Books. Grumpy Cat did not match those memories. It's an extremely short story with no real plot or story except to say that Grumpy Cat is grumpy and he's going to stay that way. Other animals say hi and are cheerful, and Grumpy Cat ignores them. Not a story I would want children to emulate. Also, no real story for children to attend to. Give this book a pass.
I got this as a Christmas present because I am a huge Grumpy Cat fan (RIP) and I grew up on Little Golden Books. For parents out there who think this might be a nice little lesson book for wee ones...it's not. It's Grumpy Cat! Fun five minute read just to remind us all how much we love Grumpy Cat!
I really liked this book. It is about a little cat that is grumpy all the time. Then one day some other animals try to play with her. I think some young kids would enjoy reading this book or having it read to them. The illustrations were good, but they weren't my favorite. My older brother and I really like grumpy cat.
Cute, but not exactly something I want my two year old to internalize lol. So I may have just talked about what was on the page the last few times we "read" it, instead of actually reading the words. But super cute for adult fans of the grumpy cat.
The pictures in this book were engaging, and Grumpy Cat's reactions to the happy creatures around her were laugh-out-loud funny. This one wound up on my "keep" pile of children's books, mostly because of the amazing moveable happy cactus.
I just can't get enough of Grumpy Cat! And how cute that she is now in a Golden Book (along with her dog, cactus and Pokey friends!) So it was obviously a little cheesy, but I got a kick out of the non-surprising surprise ending! Spoiler alert: she's grumpy! Haha.
Solid Grumpy Cat style book where Grumpy Cat is given a choice to have fun or not. Love reading this book out loud with grumpy and happy voices, just like how I imagine a real grumpy cat would act if they could speak.
This book is about a grumpy cat. The grumpy cat throughout the book was talking to happy animals. But he was not happy still and did not want to hangout with them. At the end of the book the happy animals left the grump cat and he was all alone.
A short, grumpy book for "Grumpy Cat" fans. Honestly, I don't know how this was published. Though I laughed, it definitely doesn't have the length to satisfy the adult audience this was meant for.
