Merrick works on Savile Row, catering to the nouveau rich and frequently questioning his life choices. But between the days that seemed designed to vex him are visits from spy, best friend, and hopeless crush.

This story is endearingly British and a lot of fun.
Merrick, the uptight tailor who loves his suits like children, is a charming narrator. His wit and snark know no bounds. His favorite thing to kvetch about is Darcy's lack of respect for the suits Merrick makes him.
Darcy is a gay James Bond. He's tall. He's sexy. His hair never frizzes. He is a spy for the queen. Maybe? (If I told you, I'd have to kill you.)
Merrick and Darcy are friends who annoy each other. Darcy is a notorious prankster, so when Merrick is kidnapped he assumes it's Darcy having a bit of sport. Only, it's not.
For a short story, the characters are surprisingly well developed. There's one steamy scene (and it's quite delicious) and a hopeful HFN ending.
I'm a fan of the author's writing style; this simile is a thing of beauty:

Super cute.
I like stories that involve unrequited love being requited and that's what Just a Suit is. Merrick is a bit... stringent when it comes to his work as a tailor. Ok, he's a snob. And kind of judgey. He has a small shop on Savile Row that caters to the posh set, most of whom have no taste or style. Merrick would just assume they all leave things to him to decide.
Like Darcy.
If he could just get Darcy to take care of his suits all would be right in his carefully constructed sartorial world.
But Darcy has an infuriating insouciance when it comes to his apparel. Could be an occupational hazard, though.
The series of events that finally brings these two long time friends together is both super cute and a little hilarious. Nothing like the safety cluelessness brings. Even when the clueless have been "nicked by nutters with guns".
This is my first experience with this author and I like their style; it's smart with a bit of panache. This story is engaging and just plain ole fun. There will never come a time when I don't appreciate a skin tingling sex scene and this delivered, in Venice no less. *meow*

5 Fun Stars
So much fun! A pure delight. Imagine if a tailor in the film "Kingsman" told their own story, & they were a bit uptight & snarky, loving their suits more than anything; & there was also a handsome (maybe/maybe not???) spy: "Just a Suit" by H.P. Medina is fantastic and highly recommended!!

3.75 stars rounded up
I thought this was fun, cute, and pretty "complete" for a short story. Grumpy Merrick was adorable. I was so entertained with him being passionate over his works and his suits, that he would end up ranting whenever he felt that others didn't appreciate fashion that well *lol*. I loved Merrick's narration for sure.
I also enjoyed the dynamic over his friendship with Darcy ^^. Despite this being a short story, I could feel their feelings towards each other and easily believed their attraction (loved their first kiss, heck I even enjoyed the sex scene!).
I would love it even more if this was a novella length (haha!). Yeah, I could be greedy when a short story was that enjoyable.

This was fantastic. It's short, very entertaining, lively, and has great characters. A fussy high-end tailor and a suave spy of the James Bond variety have been friends for years and have always been into each other, but nothing has ever happened between them. Then one day, our tailor is kidnapped by bad guys and everything changes. The writing is snappy and vivid and the story just speeds right along. This is fun and exciting and I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.

What a delightful little book!
I really enjoyed this James Bond-esque story with its British humor and feel.
I loved everything about it.The writing was great and it was surprisingly hot given its size.
My only issue is that I wanted it to be longer, thus the four stars.
I will definitely be on the look out for more of the author's books in future. Brilliant job!

There is little I can say about this short little story. It was cute. Fun. Absolutely ridiculous.
And I wanted more, because these two were just adorable once they were together.
I know nothing about suits, and basically whenever Merrick started describing anything suit-related on Darcy, I just thought aww, that’s his way of saying he looks really fucking hot.
The moment “Scarface” shows up, you know what’s coming. I mean, come on.
Then the Incident happens and I turn pretty indifferent.
Merrick’s obliviousness, while entertaining, was a bit over the top. I for one have no frame of reference when it comes to what Darcy is capable of, and all Merrick knows is that some sheep were in a place they were not supposed to be. (But, shhh. That’s classified.) So, how the thought that Darcy would play this as a prank on him? Then continue to believe said scenario even when he comes in for the rescue?
I think it would have probably been more fun if there was Darcy’s POV. Or, we saw them as friends more. Because that phone call in the beginning? Hilarious. Eating lunch together? Entertaining. But that’s basically it.
I honestly failed to see why this little something-something didn’t happen sooner. As did Merrick. And Darcy fails to properly answer that question… Though it’s understandable because he’s doing more important things. (If you know I’m saying)
First this was a solid 3 stars. I was starting to get bored when the whole Incident happened (down 1 star), but the ending won me over and they were just so adorable together (up 1 star). But, unprotected sex – while the scene was hot – is not okay. So, half a star deducted (-0.5 star), because it was still hot.
Ugh, they had me doing Math: 3 – 1 + 1 – 0.5 = 2.5. That will get rounded up, because… that ending.
Overall, let’s just say that this was a fun, though very predictable short story that’ll have you smiling.
You’ll read it. You’ll finish it in one sitting, because it’s so short. And you’ll likely be left wanting more. Because these two together? Precious. And, personally, I’m a big fan of UST. So, if the author had decided to enlighten us more on their supposed years of UST that would lead to that?
But they didn’t. So all together… Read it, don’t, either way is fine.

Oh I absolutely loved the details in this book regarding the different suits to the materials. The plot was interesting as well and I really wished it had been longer.
Merrick's character brought lots of humour in the book () and Darcy was so suave and cool befitting of a spy. I really liked the dynamic of their relationship as well ()

This was a very cute, well written short story. I particularly liked Merrick, with his grumpiness, his complete dedication to his clothes and the hilarious workings of his mind.
I would certainly like to see more of this couple or perhaps another set of characters in the same universe.

There are so many words to describe this story, but I'm sitting here feeling rather speechless.
With remnants of “The Kingsman” feel to it, this story packs a punch in more ways than one. With hot sexy men, spies, a kidnapping, a grumpy tailor and a scorching ending in a hotel suite, I couldn't have asked for more.
You want a British spy? Got one. You want some awesome (and correct) use of the British accent, swearwords etc. Got it. Chemistry? Bullets flying? Car chase (sort of)? Tailors? All here in bundles.
Oh, and the double meanings that allowed Merrick to live his little fantasy, at the kidnapping, was pure genius.

This was a really quick read...like really quick...and the story itself was good. I just wish there ad been more. I feel that the story could have had soooooo much more added to it and I would have enjoyed it more. Thats always the problem with short stories...they leave you wanting more from it. This one was just that for me...I wanted so much more from it....but maybe thats a good sign. If you like short stories this is a good one for you.

I loved Merrick's voice. He's quirky and a little grumpy. This didn't feel like a short story, which is difficult to pull off sometimes. I loved the spy theme and the unexpected turn that happened throughout the story.

Merrick may appear to be an ordinary tailor with the utmost respect for the suits he makes. But his best friend and favorite customer is Darcy, the British spy. Darcy doesn’t have quite the same respect for the clothing as his job keeps the suits in less than perfect condition. Merrick will still continue to create suits for Darcy though in the secret workshop downstairs as Merrick longs for more than friendship from him. Even when Merrick is kidnapped he thinks it’s nothing more than a prank orchestrated by Darcy.
For a short story, there is just enough information offered to get a basic background for these guys and Merrick’s seemingly hopeless crush. But also not enough page time for their friendship and story to fully come together. Darcy’s work is intense but is only briefly touched upon and it is the cornerstone of the story. When Darcy and Merrick do come together however, the longing they both feel is clearly on display and it’s an entertaining short story with two engaging characters.
