LONDON 1940. Another gritty, heart-warming and wholesome drama. A gripping sequel to LIZZIE'S SECRET. Perfect for the fans of Katie Flynn and Nadine Dorries.

Against the devastating Blitz of London, normal life must continue for Lizzie Larch. With Sebastian returning to War, Lizzie, must, alone make a success of her business in order to survive and care for herself and her young child.

Silently, from the shadows, her secret enemy watches and waits, threatening to ruin Lizzie and everything she holds close.

Battling against shortages her hats become more popular, but what of the man she loves? Will he ever return ?

What Lizzie knows now is that success can mean nothing without love.

I absolutely loved this book- I have a fondness for books set around the war years, particularly set around the work women did to help the homefires burning.
This was a sequel and although I hadn't read the first book this one read well as a stand alone. I still wish that I'd read the first one to learn a little more about the great characters.
Lizzie is such a strong character but she has suffered a lot of personal tragedy. She is making a huge success of her business making hats, both government business and one of the few treats ordinary women are still able to purchase without coupons. You get a feel of the shop being a place where the women gather to get that bit of luxury during a tough time and the buyers for the high end department stores delighting in her designs. You can just imagine the cosy atmosphere and the great camaraderie she has built around her with her loyalty to her friends.
Relationships and turmoil run throughout the book keeping the interest high and hope for that happy ending we all love. The true horror of the effects of war are felt - but also the spirit of local businesses and families and neighbours pulling together.
I loved her writing style and will definately buy more of her work.
With many thanks to Net Galley for the chance to read this one.

I was lucky enough to be chosen to review “Lizzie’s War” by Rosie Clarke. I love her series, The Workshop Girls. This book is the second in the series. Although Ms. Clarke brings you up to date and the novel can stand alone, I am glad that I read the first book in the series before I did this one. This story develops the lives of Lizzie Larch and Beth, her best friend as they continue to struggle with all the hardships and disappointments that life can offer, especially during wartime. I was so interested in the characters that Ms. Clarke created and their involvement with each other and the plot that I could not put the book down. I eagerly await the next in the series.

I received a free Kindle copy of this book from NetGalley.com in return for my honest review.

This could have been a,wonderful story BECAUSE of the story line. However, the editing and use of the word BECAUSE was so distracting I couldn't finish reading.

This could have been a wonderful story BECAUSE of the story line. However, BECAUSE the word BECAUSE was used more than needed and BECAUSE the editing was poor I could not finish reading this book!

Great follow on to Lizzy secret

Books that are so easy to get really lost in. Lizzy being a strong independent woman and the lives of those around her keeps me wanting to read on. Very enjoyable.

Lizzie Larch is working in her own shop now making hats for women who wish something original and unique. She has her best friend, Beth, mother of twins working with her. London is going through some of the horrendous days of the Blitz with German planes flying over the city almost nightly. As the supplies they need are becoming more scarce, they must work to find the strength to carry on.
Lizzie has realized Sebastian was serious about his attraction to her but has secretive important duties to carry out for the government. Beth is being pressured to marry Bernie, the man who owned the munitions plant where she was working. She wants a father for her children but knows she doesn't love him.
But behind the scenes, someone is watching Lizzie and is plotting to do her harm. She has no idea who it could be and must make sure she stays safe for herself and for her little baby, Betty.

This is the second of the workshop girls books.
This is a lovely story where we carry on from the first book and become reacquainted with all the characters that we met in the first book.
War is definitely part of lives of everyone who lives in London. Rations are beginning to bite at people who have hardly anything to start with.
Join Lizzie and Beth as they embark on new episodes of their lives, some are good, some are bad and some are totally heartbreaking for them.
An excellent read can highly recommend this book of Rosie Clarkes.

This second book is even better than the first

I highly recommend both books in this series. Book 2 is even better than the first book. The book is enticing, gripping, heart wrenching and has above all else, an abundance of love, both familial and romantic. The story centres on the cracking storylines whilst the war plays continually in the background.

Another great book

The second book in this trilogy and every bit as good as the first , two friends , one gets married to the man she loves , the other marries for security , not a good basis for a marriage , he is killed in an accident and she goes on to marry an old flame . Just about to start the third book and I am looking forward to it .

I received a free copy via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

Unfortunately this just did not live up to my expectations after reading the first book.
Although easy to read the story was very predictable.

2.5 stars. This book had so many editing issues. There were the same repetitions as in the first book, which was really annoying. Other than Beth, most of the characters were dull and lifeless. My want to know about what happens is the only thing keeping me with the series.

This was a really good book. I love how the wording is written well and has no bad language. The scenes are sometimes sad but well written and not too graphic. It is a good comfortable read. I think Lizzie and Beth are brave and courageous.

Everything came easy to Lizzy, and I never felt any hardship for he from the war or fear that anyone would come to any real harm. I never felt any of the romance. It was simply average.

A good book.

I enjoyed the book. But. ...the war feels so rushed. I wish like certain other writers she'd take things one book a year or something like that. You can really enjoy it better. Yes, I have enjoyed the book, but if the times weren't as rushed?
I'm looking forward to the next book and finishing off the trilogy.

Wonderful read

This book has it all, happiness, sadness, love, hate, success and failure and lots more besides, I always hate coming to the end of Rosie’s book, I feel so much a part of them that it is like something ends for me too. Looking forward to Jessies Promise.

Loved this story, the rationing and the bombing, also of course the black marketing that went on, all so very true to life, as it was in those days, I of course remember it well. I might be in my nineties but still an avid reader.
