Rock with You

Rate this book
SWEET AS SUGAR. SEXY AS SIN . . .

Carly Taylor is pretty sure she's dreaming. It's not possible that Sam Weiss - rock star god and sexy hotness personified - is actually in her bakery. This sort of thing never happens in the too-small town of Haven. Or to her. And being stranded in a secluded mountain cabin with the deliciously decadent Sam during an ice storm? This is definitely not Carly's real life . . .

Now there's just the two of them, a roaring fire, lots of food and drink, and a sizzling attraction - one that just might make Carly do the unexpected. For one night, she'll live the fantasy. For one night, nothing else matters. . . not her struggling business, not her lonely life, not Sam's bad-boy reputation. But sometimes one night can turn one crazy, beautiful dream into something real.

SUPER-SHORT - INSTA-LOVE - MODERATELY HOT - ROCK STAR PORN - NEEDED A BETTER EPILOGUE

description

I enjoyed this one. Sam Weiss is sent away by his manager to the small town of HAVEN to wait out a scandal and write some new material. There he meets Carly Taylor who runs the local bakery. When an ice storm hits and strands them together the sparks fly, and Sam finds his inspiration. Alas when the ice melts both must go their separate ways. Will they find their way back to each other? You'll have to read to find out...

description
"“I’m easy to please.” He turned, a wicked smile curving his lips. “Is that so?” “Yes, I mean…no…are we still talking about wine?” And oh my God, what had gotten into her? Was she actually flirting with Sam Weiss? And was he actually flirting back? “Depends.” His gaze dropped to her mouth, and he winked."
description

Like I said, I really enjoyed this one. It's pretty much angst free and with no OW/OM drama. I wish we would have gotten a better epilogue, but since this seems to be the start of a new series I am sure we will hear more about this couple in later books.

3.5 - "I don't usually flirt with rock stars..." Stars!

Rock with You was a really great introduction to Rachel Lacey’s new Risking It All series, it was also my first read from this author and I really clicked with her writing style.

If you like a series set around a small town, featuring recurring secondary characters, but with each book focusing on one particular couple than this is definitely a series you may want to check out. For me series like this are like catnip, so to find an established author that I haven’t read anything from previously whose writing style mixes well with my tastes makes me a very happy reader.

"To ice storms."

The rock-star hiding out getting iced in with the towns bakery owner and what starts as a one night agreement, then morphs into so much more as they get to know each other. This is a story that doesn’t really offer anything up in the way of tropes, but I liked Carly and Sam, the story was extremely easy to get on with and the set-up of the town of Haven and its residents gives the reader a taste of things to come in relation to future books in the series.

Great start and introduction for me to this authors books, I cannot wait to start Run to You, due for release later this month.

ONCE UPON A TIME THEIR WAS A ROCKSTAR WHO MET A SWEET-ORDINARY GIRL IN A BAKERY AND SPARKS FLY.

Rock with You is a sweet and entertaining read to get you out a slump or simply to pass your time in a boring lecture or when you can't think of anything to read. It will entertain you with its amazing plot with a sweet relationship between our MC's.

"I hear songs in my head when I make love to you." His voice was a whisper against his neck. "I thought I'd lost my muse, but I'd found her again. She's you "

I loved it because it was a sweet short read. Some books shouldn't be dragged out. And this book was perfectly written with perfect amount of sweetness, Love, Romance and A real nice first meeting. Plot was predictable yet it won't make your bone's bore by reading it. A quick short read for anyone who want to read it. TOTALLY RECOMMENDED.

INSTA-LUST, SHORT-READ, PREDICTABLE PLOT, A ROCKSTAR, A BAKERY GIRL.

Carly owns a bakery in a small town called Haven, she tends to spend her evenings alone watching movies, reading or listening to music. She is a big daydreamer and sometimes gets lost in her thoughts. Sam is in Haven to lay low for a while after a scandal back in LA and also to get inspiration for new songs. When he enters Carly's bakery one day, they feel instant attraction, but they don't act on it right at that moment. When Carly is about to close for the night, because a big ice storm is on the way, Sam unexpectedly calls and gives in a big order, which she is going to deliver as well. The ice storm arrives faster than she expected, which leaves them trapped in his house for two days. What happens during those days? What does the future hold for them?

It was a cute novella and a great start to the series. I adored Sam, he was a sexy rock star, who wasn't cocky, but down to earth and big heart. The love story developed between them quite fast, because it was a novella, but it was really enjoyable quick read.

Rock with You was a sweet, quick and entertaining read.

Author Rachel Lacey is a talented writer, she's given us two characters that were engaging and had fabulous chemistry. And while things between Sam and Carly progressed extremely quickly, I never felt like it was forced.

Short novella with insta-sex, followed by insta-love all amidst an ice storm in a mountain villa. Carly is a smalltown girl who owns a bakery and Sam is a gorgeous rock star hidden away trying to get his career back on track. Written well -- but everything was way too instantaneous without any buildup for my taste. It is an introduction to Lacey's Risking It All series.

Oh, did I enjoy this book! It was very similar to a book I just read, but I think the pairing here was a little more realistic, as was the situation that they found themselves in. Sam and Carly were a great couple, and I loved reading about how they were each affected when the relationship was over. It didn't seem like there was much to this story to lead into a series, but I am definitely interested in reading more of this series!

ROCK WITH YOU is the novella kicking off the new series by Rachel Lacey, Risking It All. I've enjoyed Ms. Lacey's small town contemporaries before so I'm really excited about a new series. But although I did enjoy reading ROCK WITH YOU, it was short. And I think a few things that we missed out on by being so short were more development of the romance and a better setup for the series.

The premise of this novella is always a fun one. Two basic strangers get stranded in a house during some bad weather, in this case an ice storm. I had to crank down my AC to read this! This gets more interesting when one of them is a famous rock star hiding out and writing his next hit album.

I really enjoyed that they had met already once before that day and we already knew there was an attraction on both sides, so it didn't have that edge of danger with the unknown. I thought their time together was enjoyable and it was really easy to read. Overall, I enjoyed what we saw of the characters and their torrid few days affair. I just wasn't so sure how that translated into jumping into a full on relationship and I love yous right away. And I would've loved to see them fleshed out a bit more as well. I know this is extremely hard to do with the page count of this novella, and it's probably the reason why I usually do so much better with short novellas about a second chance romance. My brain just can't wrap itself around this!

As always, I enjoyed the writing in this one and the way I could immediate feel a connection with the characters. I liked Carly from the very first paragraph and of course, Sam

My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin: http://witandsin.blogspot.com/2016/07...

Rock with You is as sweet as one of Carly’s famous cinnamon buns. It’s a fluffy fantasy with a lot of sugar and a dash of spice, which makes it a good summer beach read.

Who wouldn’t love a chance meeting with the insanely handsome rock star of their dreams? Especially if it turns out he is practically perfect in every way. Sam is talented musician who’s struggling to write his new album, which is why he’s taking a break from the spotlight in Carly’s small hometown, Haven. Carly is a fantastic baker whose business is struggling, but fate – in the form of an ice storm – gives her a break from reality when she finds herself stranded with Sam in his cabin. It’s not long before the two of them are giving into their mutual attraction and taking advantage of their situation by having a good ol’ fashioned fling.

It’s pretty easy to like Carly and Sam, because both of them are pretty perfect characters. Yet I never felt like the love story went deeper than simple attraction, and perhaps this is due in part to the short length of the tale. I’m not opposed to insta-love plots, but when combined with obstacles being presented and immediately toppled, the lack of depth to the characters, and the missing emotional weight to the story, it was difficult to actually become invested in the romance. Still, as a lightweight fantasy Rock with You has charm and I liked Rachel Lacey’s writing well enough that I’ll definitely read a full-length novel of hers. Rock with You is a prequel novella to Ms. Lacey’s Risking It All series and I’m looking forward to reading the first book, Run to You.

ROCK WITH YOU is the perfect blend of sweet and sexy, and a very enjoyable introduction to Rachel Lacey's writing for me. Rock stars and musicians are really not my favorite thing to read about but small town romances are, which is why I was drawn to this book.

When rock star Sam Weiss finds himself hiding out in a small town to avoid a scandal, the last thing he expects is find his muse and the woman of his dreams, which is exactly what baker Carly Taylor turns out to be.

An ice storm presents them with the perfect opportunity to get to know each better and for Sam, the release of his creative juices when they are stranded together overnight, but with their differences, can one night become something more?

Ms. Lacey incorporated all the elements that make a great read in this book which I enjoyed, only it was too short to develop the characters and left me dissatisfied. I would love to see more of Sam and Carly in future books or maybe a follow-up book to catch us up, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

Rock with You is a novella that is kicking off the brand new series Risking It All by Rachel Lacey. Since I read started this series out of order I wasn't really sure what I would get when it came to this novella.

We are introduced to Carly who owns a bakery. She doesn't get out much and spends her time doing the things she enjoys even if she does it alone. While working one day, a man who looks like one of her favorite rock stars comes into her shop.

After a scandal broke back home Sam is told to lay low and Haven sounds like the perfect place. He didn't come here to meet someone or get laid but after he gets snowed in with delicious Carly his feelings change. But Sam will be leaving soon and a big decision needs to be made on his feelings for Carly.

This was a cute novella and introduced two characters who I'm sure we will see again in future books. While this book was short and sweet, it was also to the point. I felt because of them meeting and spending just a few days together that I really didn't get a feel for the characters.

I honestly would have loved to see their story in full length. I think they had potential and a great chemistry that was forming. Does this novella make me want to read the first book in the series? Yes because I'm interested in this town and what the Risk It All series will be about.

Should you read them in order? I honestly don't think it matters which way you read them but if you're a stickler with reading in order you will enjoy a little look at what looks like to be a exciting series. I'm ready are you?

5 "...like music to her ears" Stars

This novella kicking off Rachel Lacey's Risking It All series packed a good 'ole romantic punch. Full of open heart and sexy dialogue, intelligent 3rd person writing, and an easy structure Rock with You left me with a smile on my face in just 80 odd pages. This novella was my first title by Rachel Lacey and won't be my last. It's laced with all the romance and swoonworthy moment Forever publishing is know for (and that I love so much!) and Lacey holds her own very well with her outstanding writing.

The two character of the story, Sam and Carly, have an insta-lust style meeting. From there a lovely give and take relationship ensues as the two are stranded together due to an ice storm in North Carolina. The two of them really were just fun. Each having their own personal issues even though they're quite different circumstances. Their chemistry is palpable and I can't say enough how pleasurable it was read their story. No drama, no fuss. Just a really sweet love story. I can't wait for the rest of the series!

This being a novella prequel to Lachey's upcoming "Risking It All" series, I already toned down my expectation -- somehow sensing that it would most likely be falling-in-love-instantly kind of situation. And I was right.

While Carly and Sam was trapped at a rented cabin during snow storm for two days helped grounding the intimacy level, making it more believable for me, but I couldn't still pass the fact that they had sex before knowing much about each other *shrugs*. The foreplay with tasting the desserts was cute though.

In the end, I thought it was an okay read; nice but lack of fully developed characters and romance. Still, I'm looking forward to the first novel in this series, Run to You, which will be released later this month.

Sam Weiss is completely SWOON-WORTHY! I LOVED this story from start to finish! I just love a story centered around a storm. This story follows an unlikely couple during a weekend ice storm. Locked in a mansion-sized cabin with only a fireplace and each other to keep them warm?--what could be more romantic!

5 STARS!!! I can't wait for the next is this new series!

Rock With You is the first book I have read by Rachel Lacey and I loved it! This book is a rocker romance that hits all the right buttons! It is a short but delectable read and I was bummed when it was over!!

Carly owns a family bakery which she took over when her grandma retired. One day rock god, Sam, walks in. Carly recognizes him instantly since he headlines her favorite band. Sam has been keeping a low profile, staying out of the media, and writing new songs for his next album. Words have eluded him until he met Carly.

Sam was instantly taken with her and knows she knew who he was. He appreciated her keeping it to herself and not getting her 2 minutes in the spotlight. He thinks she's adorable and his mind is overflowing with lyrics after meeting her. He wants to see her more but thinks he better not push it.

When Carly delivers baked goods to Sam, a storm hits sooner than expected icing Carly in with the rocker!

Yes this was a totally predictable short, but it was a wonderful read! It didn't feel rushed. In fact it paced perfectly! It was spicy and sweet and I loved it!! Sam was so real-not cocky at all. He truly had a connection with Carly and didn't want to let her leave.

Rock With You was a fun read that will leave you smiling as you blush! It's a great start to the series and I totally recommend it!

If you are looking for a quick sweet rock fix this is the book for you. Sam way laying low in a small town in North Carolina working on songs for a new album but nothing was really coming to him…that is until he walked into her bakery. Carly was not only an excellent baker but she was very pretty with an even better personality which drew Sam to her. They both felt that little something but in Carly’s case was it just because she recognized Sam as the rock star he was?

How could she pass up on the chance to deliver some of her baked goods to his rental home in the mountains? Nothing like an ice storm to get you stranded at the rock star’s house. Sam soon realized he found his muse and the words just poured from him. But what happens when the roads are cleared and their time together in their little love nest comes to an end? Carly knows that it’s impossible for this to go anywhere after all she is just a small town girl who owns her own bakery and Sam is a big rock star who lives in LA. Is either of them able to walk away from what they had found together in that home in the mountains? A really nice sweet read well worth your time.

Two stars because they were kind of a cute couple even if it is a little bit of a ridiculous story. Some short stories work well with their brief time, but I think this one ended up being kind of dumb because of it. Let's see how it went.

"Hey, you're hot"
"Hey, you're famous AND hot!"
"Bring me a shit load of bakery items for no reason and don't even end up thinking that's super weird when you realize I'm the only one here."
"Okay! And I'll completely not realize I'm about to be stuck in an ice storm despite the weather app/radar being a thing and despite living here my entire life!"
"Let's eat."
"Let's bang."
Lots of banging and ice and banging. Some music writing.
"You're my muse!"
"Okay but now we say goodbye because we just met two days ago, so...it's really not that big of a deal."
"Okay....but now how am I supposed to live my life without her?!?!?! I barely know her last name, but probs I will go crazy if we can't smoosh more."
*Burns all the cookies!* (Probably thinking about all the banging, amirite???)
"Surprise! I'm here because you didn't like me just because I'm famous, and now I am in love with you forever. And I am taking you to LA because I'm famous and you know what happens when famous people get with the normies!!"
"Oh...sure....and now this is like way later in an epilogue, so I guess everything worked out great for us! Yay!"

The end. Now, I want some pastries, man!

A short story about a baker in a small mountain town who happens to she sees her favorite rock musician. Carly Taylor though wipes that thought out of her head because why would someone famous like Sam Weiss be in their town. Now after a bit when a few people leave she knows it is him. They talk he leaves and she feels good. Before she locks up she answers the phone at it is him Sam asking for her desserts to be delivered to his cabin where he is staying. She brings the goodies but lo and behold she has to stay because they get snowed in. Fire, food, drink and they are already attracted to each other and you can imagine where it goes yes. When Sam wants her to go with him she has to make a decision because she loves the town and her bakery, but also Sam. Oh what will she do? Read this fast paced book and find out. Rock With You...making music was never better.

Rock with You is an amazing read. It is short yet very sweet. Carly and Sam truly make beautiful music together. I laughed and had heart swooning moments. The characters were amazing. This book had a steady pace you could enjoy. I really loved the story. Average girl meets famous rock star. Carly and Sam are perfect.

Rachel Lacey is an amazing author. Her writing style is bold and passionate. She has all the elements that make for an amazing writer. This is my first book of hers and I can say it won't be the last. I highly recommend this book.

1.5 Stars- I did not care for this story, novella, very short book. The chemistry between Sam and Carly does not translate from words into a feeling. It's just not there for me. Perhaps this is because the story filled less than 60 pages and lacked development. Too short not to finish, but it did nothing for me.

And If not for the slow business day and closing early for the weather, she might not have been able to pull this off for him on such short notice- why not? Just pack up the leftovers when you close. No one would turn down a large order because it would keep them working past closing time.

If it takes 15 minutes to drive across town, said town is more than a blip on the map.

Sweets seal the deal

Carly owns a bakery and meet Rick star Sam. Sam is blown away by her delicious sweets. He calls to request a delivery and Carly ends up stranded in an ice storm. The chemistry ignites and Sam and Carly find they like each other a lot. They part but both are miserable yet Sam has written great album material. Sam
goes back to talk as he finds he can't without Sweet Carly!

This is a very good super short book about Carly Taylor and Sam Weiss. Carly is a bakery owner in Haven and Sam is a Rock Star who has been sent to Haven to lay low and write songs. Sam goes into Carly's bakery and she realizes who he is, Sam gets something to eat and drink and sits down and watches Carly and all of a sudden he is writing music again. This is the book before Run To You.

"Rock with You (Risking It All, #0.5)" by Rachel Lacey is a great, short, romantic story between Carley and Sam. He meets her, tastes her baked goods (yes, actual bakery goods,) and then calls her to deliver every single bakery item in her store. Then they get stuck in a storm and 'OH MY!'

Rock With You
Risking It All, Book #0.5
By Rachel Lacey
ISBN: 9781455567959
Brought to you by OBS reviewer Una

Synopsis:

SWEET AS SUGAR. SEXY AS SIN . . .
Carly Taylor is pretty sure she’s dreaming. It’s not possible that Sam Weiss – rock star god and sexy hotness personified – is actually in her bakery. This sort of thing never happens in the too-small town of Haven. Or to her. And being stranded in a secluded mountain cabin with the deliciously decadent Sam during an ice storm? This is definitely not Carly’s real life . . .

Now there’s just the two of them, a roaring fire, lots of food and drink, and a sizzling attraction – one that just might make Carly do the unexpected. For one night, she’ll live the fantasy. For one night, nothing else matters. . . not her struggling business, not her lonely life, not Sam’s bad-boy reputation. But sometimes one night can turn one crazy, beautiful dream into something real.

Review:

A very fast paced novella , this is a great read if you only have a little time and want a story you can get into easily. The small town setting and storyline of hard working struggling girl who meets gorgeous rock star and by fate has to ride out a storm with him in a picturesque setting seems a little far-fetched but as I have learned from life not impossible.

The characters are believable. Carly runs a bakery business in a small town and Sam is a rock star who is in town trying to find inspiration for his song writing. Attractive to each other but from polar opposites of life they both know that even the steamy attraction that they feel toward each other is likely not enough in the real world. However both decide that they will take what they can have during the storm and deal with the tedium of daily life when the time comes.

After the storm Sam finds he is constantly thinking of Carly and decides to give a relationship a try. Carly on the other hand is terrified of the constant publicity that is a daily part of Sam’s working existence. Again they find that there is a give and take in anything lasting and real.

I must say I enjoyed the writing style of Rachel Lacey however I would have liked more character development. That said I certainly will be interested in the next book in this series so I will definitely look for this author in the future.
